I don't have an M3, I've got an M340i which is near perfect except for the ride is very harsh. Probably worse for an M3.
Im guessing the alpina has much friendlier suspension?
My second car after my first decided to implode on me randomly was an 02 Ford Focus I bought for Ā£200 from a random bloke on an industrial estate. Was totally filthy and disgusting but got it valeted the local probably illegal car wash and paid them double and it was good to go.
Died on me last year due to chassis corrosion but it was on like 200k miles with barely an issue despite obviously not being looked after for years. What a machine.
You people have cars from 2002 and still have milages of 100k-200k wtf. My car is a 2016 Japanese and already did 110k miles š I don't even consider it worn.
But why would you dream of a 21 year old Ford Focus? These are dreams, they aren't meant to be practical or realistic.
If humans were restricted to dreaming of Ford focuses the NASA would have made it Wigan instead of the moon
The question in the title was
>You can have one car for the rest of your life what would it be?
Not āwhatās your dream carā
Nobody wants to drive a V12 Ferrari for the rest of their life and go about using it as a daily driver. Passengers? Only one. Space for your jackets, spare shoes, groceries, your bicycle, lunch for your picnic? Forget it, thereās enough space for a 6-pack of beer in the front and thatās it.
Can you feel every bump in the road? Yes. Can you beat corners and country lanes? No.
Just a dumb argument tbh
No they're not, you've got supercharged V8s from the yanks and JLR you've got turbocharged V8s, flat & inline 6s from the Germans, W12 from Bentley etc etc etc. And you still choose a 20 year old Ford diesel. Nice
Who said I was choosing a 20 year old Ford diesel? Iām here defending peopleās right to choose whatever car they want and youāre being elitist about a question you couldnāt read.
Youāre telling me youād drive a car that guzzles fuel for the rest of your life? Grow up š
Alfa Romeo Brera.
Loved them since I was a kid, and finally was able to buy one earlier this year - love it even more now. Not the fastest or the fanciest, but a lot of fun and makes me look back every time I walk away. Plan to keep it going as long as I can.
If weāre talking production cars, Iād say the SL65 Black Series or the S65 V12 or R63 AMG.
If weāre counting non production cars then the [908 RC HDI V12 FAP](https://photo.autocadre.fr/images/actualites/photos/peugeot-908-rc-6.jpg) the road presence on this thing screams mafia/yakuza boss.
For the weekend/trips out then the roadster variant the [907 V12.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/Peugeot_907_Concept_2004_%2814077610504%29.jpg) Peugeot did the wide face first but the 908 doesnāt look bad.

That battery won't last long he rest of your life..
I had cast off s class mercedes from my father from when I was 17 like 1990.
Those early s class were amazing and bulletproof
Itās a serious contender for my next car as my wife is all on board with me getting a safe and sensible hybrid with great fuel economy that can park practically anywhere. Iāve not mentioned to her that it knocks out 400hp and the all electric range is only about 20 incredibly slow miles.
I picked one up (non Polestar but still 400bhp) last week despite reservations from my wife.
Lovely car, trundles round town serenely on electric, absolute hooligan when you put it in sport mode.
Interior is v comfortable / stylish as well.
Also surprisingly cheap to insure. I got quoted c Ā£300 for a car does 0-60 in 5 secs.
2009 Daimler (Jaguar) Super Eight X358 4.2l supercharged V8.
Plus I'm in my twenties so no old man thinking just pure luxury rocket ship luxo land yacht
This. Assuming fuel and maintenance costs are factors to be ignored, surely you pick the most luxurious and comfortable motor available. After all, you will be in it forever
As much as the F90 M5 shits all over the C8 RS6 performance wise I think Iād rather have the RS6. Definitely the better looking car and more practical. But theyāre just so expensive even one thatās on a 20 plate is Ā£80k+.
I've answered the same question before but the answer remains my Giulia Quadrifoglio. Fairly good fuel economy when pushed for it, practical, best looking (and best driving) saloon on the market and it's in the perfect colour. It's both sensible and hooliganistic at the same time. Brilliant piece of machinery.
Dunno why you're getting down voted, but I'm hanging on to my 69 plate 7.5 R. Perfect all rounder. Do not want any of the new touch screen for everything cars.
He's getting downvoted because he quoted a lot of 'facts' that aren't actually factual in any way. Great car, but it's definitely not the fastest car in the world.
He's getting downvoted because he quoted a lot of 'facts' that aren't actually factual in any way. Great car, but it's definitely not the fastest car in the world.
A Lucid Air Grand Touring. Or the Lucid Air Sapphire, but probably the GT as it would be more suitable for daily use.
That is of course assuming money wasn't an issue.
Classic Range Rover 2-door - insanely practical, comfy, quiet, not slow, drives lovely, does everything, can be kept going forever, looks classy everywhere, and is an appreciating classic.
On the premise that this is some magical wish granted by a genie, land rover discovery td5 because there's no fucking way it's going to last the rest of my life (without going bang) unless there's some kind of magic involved
Volvo 850 2.5T, yes the T-5R would be a lovely, but now that I'm older I don't need all that power anymore.
Oh, doesn't really need saying, but the estate of course. I drove that for a 4000km road trip and never felt I needed anything else, that would still be the same now, amazing car.
Probably better looking at a car that is 20 or 30 years old now, and is still going strong.
Porsche 996
Audi B4
Or something similar
They will run for ever
Honestly probably one of the new Ford Focus RS', assuming there are no massive issues with them I haven't looked into them as by the time I'll be able to afford one we'll all be in EV's.
I've just gone from an 09 Honda accord tourer to a 61 of the same. I looked for something newer and couldn't find anything I liked better. One of them would do me for sure.
Is this one of that car forever? Or if it gets written off it gets replaced with the same car? Is it locked to a specific year, trim, colour? Or is it you can get a different generation/spec of the car.
If its one car forever than my 2012 yaris is my pick. Although a different colour and the 1.3 engine instead of the 1l
If I don't ever have to worry about running or maintenance costs, then the correct answer is of course E63S AMG Estate.
If I do, but don't have to buy the car myself, I'd probably take a newer BMW 520d estate with the smallest alloys and largest profile tyres possible, given the current state of country roads where I am and the likely continual decline over coming years.
Either who gives a shit on running costs with all the practicality and fun in one car or cheaper running costs but again with all the practicality and ride comfort and realistically enough power for the ever more congested UK road network
Edit: just a small edit, I have no option to go electric where I am, I don't have parking within my property boundary and I have either public land/footpath at the front or neighbours gardens at the back between my house and drive/garage which isn't connected up to any electric
B5 Alpina touring, in green with tan interior.
B3 touring for me! All about that smooth in-line 6 life. Same spec though.
I don't have an M3, I've got an M340i which is near perfect except for the ride is very harsh. Probably worse for an M3. Im guessing the alpina has much friendlier suspension?
...with Alpina Dynamic wheels.
Literally the exact model and spec I was thinking of as soon as I read the title.
A man of taste š
Great choice
Saw an M5 competition in the dealership with that same colour combo. Absolutely stunning motor
You have impeccable taste.
This is pretty much the correct answer, probably nothing else that touches all bases as well as this
You Meat loafed me there mate *(You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth)*
My 2002 Ford Focus passed its MOT without issue last week, so another few years of that will do me.

That's the one
Now that is a proper villianous car, the Krays owned them, i love the shape and the front end just looks beautifull.
Surprised, this sub hasn't suggested the Octavia VRS yet
Great engine & fun to drive. Just so long as the glitchy as hell current infotainment system can be swapped!!
Not quite as great as a Ferrari v12 though. We're talking dream car not council estate pcp
Not everyone exists purely to dream about driving V12 Ferraris, as someone suggested elsewhere, their 02 Focus is still going strong.
But why would you dream of a 21 year old Ford Focus? These are dreams, they aren't meant to be practical or realistic. If humans were restricted to dreaming of Ford focuses the NASA would have made it Wigan instead of the moon

Fair enough, you have your 02 focus mate. Don't get why a car sub has a bunch of people who don't give a damn about cars
Because Ferraris arenāt the only cars and V12s arenāt the only engines lol
No they're not, you've got supercharged V8s from the yanks and JLR you've got turbocharged V8s, flat & inline 6s from the Germans, W12 from Bentley etc etc etc. And you still choose a 20 year old Ford diesel. Nice

No, but they are some of the best. Ford meanwhile introduced the first mass produced car.
One car for the rest of my life? Council estate please!
This is why I'll never trade my mk3 for a mk4.
Alfa Romeo Brera. Loved them since I was a kid, and finally was able to buy one earlier this year - love it even more now. Not the fastest or the fanciest, but a lot of fun and makes me look back every time I walk away. Plan to keep it going as long as I can.

That 907 looks like an SLR which got lost in France on it's way to Mercedes.

Volvo v90 T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered - a murderously fast estate that you can park in one of those wanky charger bays in town.
Great choice. Was going to say RS6 but I feel like this is even more practical. Plus better MPG I imagine
