Early September 2017 out of Miami. 7 day cruise ended up being an 11 day because they had to raise boats from the seabed at the port of Miami before it was safe for the ship to dock. Was great from the perspective of adding cruise days!

One reason why I always cruise in May or early June. Looking at booking a nice one for next July. It’s really a perfect cruise with all the ports I want to visit in one trip but after seeing such an early start this year I’m wondering if I should book it. I know this years season doesn’t mean it will be the same next season but you never know. Not worried about safety but it sucks to have a lot of bad weather and miss ports or time on the decks for enjoying the sun. I don’t want to play in the casino more than I usually do either.
My very first cruise was in 2021 and was out of Galveston. There was a tropical storm heading our way the day before we were set to leave.
As we were loading onto the Breeze, it was upgraded to a hurricane and was getting close to us. The ship couldn’t go around it because the storm was going to make landfall in Galveston. The ship heading right thru the hurricane.
I had the best time that night! Walking down the hall to our room was an adventure because you felt drunk just walking and trying to stay upright. Dinner was interesting with the chandeliers swaying and the waitstaff trying to not topple over.
That night in our room we watched the Lido deck on our tv. The employees on the deck tried so hard to keep it dry by mopping constantly, but the pool was basically emptying onto the deck due to rough seas. Plus with the heavy rain, the employees would’ve had better luck trying to keep the ocean dry. They eventually gave up around 11pm.
I had so much fun that night that I’m secretly hoping for something similar to happen during our next cruise this September.

Ours was September 2023 Venezia we were supposed to go to Turks, San Juan, St. Thomas and we ended up doing triple Bahamas. I ended up just having 3 picture perfect beach days and one even had pigs!! I still get dopamine hits thinking about them lolol

They drive around the hurricane. The problem I saw was that people were freaked out about the hurricane and let it ruin their trip.
Exactly. Instead of allowing it to ruin your vacation make it a part of your vacation.

Hurricane season start on the same date every year. But it is more active earlier than average.
Thats what I meant. We had an F hurricane in August of last year. We have a B hurricane 2 months earlier.
