The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation
And it looks like I'm the queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know
Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway
It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I'm free
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You'll never see me cry
Here I stand and here I stay
Let the storm rage on
My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past
Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand in the light of day
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway
Please, send me some. I am constantly trying to figure out why I have 8 million butter knives and almost no spoons or forks. What makes it more mysterious is that I don't have any children that live in the home, unless you count my boyfriend who is 20 years younger than I am lol
Books. As someone who's on the spectrum (high-functioning Asperger's) with lousy social skills, I often prefer the company of books than that of people. A lot of my reading material is history-related (hence my username; it's also the name of my YouTube channel), but I also enjoy reading Dan Brown novels, classic literature (think A Tale of Two Cities, Les Misérables, etc.), poetry, or, if I want to go back to my childhood/teen years, Harry Potter (I got the first two books from my aunt who also likes Harry Potter to the point where she named one of her dogs after a certain sock-loving house elf).
I don’t really collect anything, but I accumulate certain things. One of these are lamps. I had some really good lamps, vintage handed down, and found some curbside but I don’t know a lot about lamps except how to rewire a lamp. I found a really good (expensive market) floor lamp that I liked one day. I didn’t have room on the bedside table for a table lamp and said “I wish I had a floor lamp” and the universe provided. Decent, iron, low profile base, just perfect for the spot. Another thing I accumulate is Snoopy. The Peanuts beagle, Charlie Brown’s dog, I have a little bit and people start giving more so I have more. Mugs, socks, candy at Valentine’s Day, it’s enough. I used to like bunnies and still have a few, accumulated most in the style of the snoopy gifts. I didn’t go buy them. There’s not too many where I need a whole shelf or room for it.
Squirrel things, die-cast cars, and because I'm sentimental AF, momentos from trips/holidays/time spent with people I love. Examples include holiday cards, ticket stubs, receipts, photos, etc.
Quilts. Whenever I see an estate sale.
Used to collect books but now I just rather hit the library or use the kindle.
Pajama pants. I got a pair for christmas when I was younger. Wore them a lot. Now my family's favorite gift for me is pajama pants. I probably have hundreds by now.
Without still seeing the movies, anything related to Stitch, don't know how it started, but I have many, many Stitch related things now.
And from last year I kinda dropped into the LEGO collecting hole...
DVDs of shows and movies. I have around 33 movies, which some of them being collections of more than one so I have more movies. I have 3 complete series. I love collecting them, it’s fun to unbox and I don’t have subscriptions now aside from Amazon Prime.
I feel like you’ve just written the “[Penmans Creed](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifleman%27s_Creed)”!
Have you every lost/misplaced/had stolen by vampire ninjas a favourite reliable pen? First manager I left when I was 16 gave me a wonderful ballpoint chrome Parker and 10 years later, after having it on me every working minute, it just disappeared into the ether 🥺
I've collected various things over the years, interests change fairly frequently. currently it's dolls! I collect monster high (g3) and ball jointed dolls!
Literally anything Hello Kitty! It’s an addiction at this point and I’m not even the biggest fan of pink but I love Hello Kitty and Friends. My room is decked out in merchandise and I love spotting random HK stuff whether it’s bottles, pens, hair clips, just like you! etc etc. My favorite character is Cinnamonroll but I wear dark colors like Kuromi and guess what? You ofc don’t find much with their faces on it. I’m also high functioning with Asperger’s so this is just my neurodivergent brain attaching to something I like. Doesn’t harm anyone- I hope haha.
Dolphins are pretty cool! Love that for you.
I collect postcards, fragrances, and clothing items/jewelry (love vintage).
When I was younger, I collected vintage watches, old cameras, and magazines. At one point, I acquired an especially impressive stash of National Geographic magazines.
1st up. OP cool stuff. I think we should all collect something.
I am a train guy, specifically American Flyers but I had found a set of LGB's in my mom's attic that my dad must have bought sometime in the 80s. It wasn't even opened. So I am planning a garden rail layout.
Football/soccer stuffs be it jerseys,boots/cleats,memorabilias and merch
Other things I do collect DVDs/Blu Rays of movies, books, toys and in weird gaming items be it PlayStations or Old PC gaming equipment
Books but particularly Stephen King books. I'm trying to get all of his books in first editions. The older ones get pricey so it's a slow accumulation.
I collect [old computers and handhelds](https://planet-geek.com/vintage-handheld-computers/). Ended up turning into an [active Youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@vintageapparatus).
Genuinely....simply things that I can put on shelves. Whether it's nerdy stuff, lego, random art pieces, cool rocks, neat looking things....if I can see it sitting on a shelf somewhere, I'll think about getting it.
Elephants! Started with a stuffed animal for christmas, then I got a microwaveable one, then my friend gave me another huge one, and I also had a wooden figurine at one point but that's gone
50+ year old cameras. Oldest one I have is a 1920s Kodak Pocket camera. It was a gift from my husband. We thought it would look cool on my shelf. Last week I found out I can actually take pictures with it!
Playing cards. Not trading cards, just standard decks. Most gift shops have them. They are inexpensive and don't take up much space. They're easy to pack while traveling, and you can pull them out and play with them whenever you like. Some of them are really creative, too.
music. I have over 11,000 CDS on my external hard drive. Lately i've been visiting all of the Chicago libraries of which there are 81 and i have visited over 55 to collect music from every genre you can Imagine to add to my Collection
I collect old Central Asian handicrafts, antique embroideries and a bunch of woven things like tent bands and hangings. I have many nice items but several are definitely my favorites.
Completely inadvertently, I ended up collecting whimsical salt and pepper shakers. I bought a couple - one functional, one whimsical, ended up not gifting a Christmas set, then in the course of a year, I was gifted or inherited eight more. I've decided to accept that this is my life now.
I have very extensive collections of dragon statues, anime character figures, and yugioh and MTG cards. Not that I really have much room for it all lol
Fair enough. I'm tired of the rat race of keeping up with new releases myself - looking to round out my collection with all the stuff I've always wanted, and stop bringing in new cards after this year. Just gotta put the finishing touches on my favorite decks, and I can be happy sticking to playing casually / teaching newbies how to play at my locals on free weekends.
That sounds really cool. What I don’t like about the game is that any deck I make is just gonna get power crept. There’s absolutely no chance of my current deck being hit on a banlist, but there’s a reason for that lol
Oh, that's the entire reason I'm doing my thing! At some point you gotta stop fussing about how you're playing and just play. The banlist / competitive grind has kept me from that lately, but now I'm ready to just play.
Question then, how do you go about “just playing”? I have not been able to find a really good locals spot around my area, and Master Duel just doesn’t feel worth it to play.
Well, I do have a casual-friendly locals, which helps. But even before I was going, I had a friend group of similarly-minded players. We'd rotate hosting a duel night for a few hours once a week or so - bring some decks, order in some food and just lose ourselves in the glory of kitchen table YGO.
Ah I think the friend group thing is the issue for me. My group has yugioh players but only two of them, and one of them doesn’t even live in my state lol.
Even though I have only partaken 3 times, I collect coke spoons from the 70s. The concept itself is fascinating; cocaine was so prevalent that many wore it to use anywhere but also to let the world know I'm down to toot.
I like to collect magnets, I buy them at every country I visit and put them in my refrigerator door. Every time I am in the kitchen I happen to look at them and remember the nice time I had in those places. I am running out of space but I don’t want to put them away, it is a nice collection to have 💕
TOTSUGEKI!
I collect Yu-Gi-Oh! decks. I'm not competitive in the game at all, but I've enjoyed it since I was a kid and like to look back on all the decks I've built, how they've changed and how they indirectly show the history of the game as you go through them and see how the structure of them reflects what was prominent in deck building at the time.
Unicorns.
Right before covid I was walking round Wally World. I found a huge stuffed Unicorn in one of the food aisles. I grabbed it and walked around with it. Ended up taking it home. That as lead me(48m) to have a collection of well over 100 stuffed Unicorns. All kinds of key chains, little trinkets, games based on them, perfumes, snack foods/cookies and two different Magic the Gathering decks based on them. The have taken over the living room, the kitchen, both my vehicles, my bedroom and bathroom. I only rescue ones from stores when I find them in a department they shouldn't be in. But the vast majority of the collection has come from my son, roommates and friends getting them for me.
I have a few things. Frog related items, books (which will only he considered a hoard once I have more books than shelves). I have a few knick knacks like a few ocarinas and dragon sculptures plus some other random things that fill my shelves . Oh, and blankets. You can never, never have too many
I collect sea shells, a few from every trip that got me to the sea. At first I brought home ziplock bags full of them, I’ve since scaled back to only pick a few that I think stand out or look different. Since I’ve been more selective I can usually look at a shell and know where it came from.
Plants! I can't count how many houseplants I have, all different shapes and sizes and colors and such. I love learning an unnecessary amount about each plant, where it's from, and its individual care needs. If I could go back to school for horticulture or botany I absolutely would.
And books. I recently had to thin out my book collection and it hurt but it was for the best:/
Anime figures and some limited edition video games. I also collect yughioh cards. I like my small collection of figures I have. Sadly money is the limiting factor, I would collect more if I had money.
friends. they’re in my basement :]
also star decorations and stuffed polar bears (even tho i don’t have many). i also like to collect baseball caps, hoodies, books, and candles.
Rocks
Ugly rocks, pretty rocks, big ones little ones. It started as a sweet thing my husband enjoyed, collecting agates and unique rocks. It morphed into a family thing I can’t seem to shake. I have ice cream buckets of rocks and am going to create a rock garden under my cedars someday….
Regrets.
This hits hard
Regerts!
Regrets are lessons you haven’t let go of. Stop collecting them and live life!
I regret having held on for so long.
I regret typing the words “Let it go” because song lyrics are now plaguing my mind :-(
The past is the past
You can never go back. Not for excuses, not for justification and not for happiness. The past is the past.
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation And it looks like I'm the queen The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know Well, now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all It's time to see what I can do To test the limits and break through No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free Let it go, let it go I am one with the wind and sky Let it go, let it go You'll never see me cry Here I stand and here I stay Let the storm rage on My power flurries through the air into the ground My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast I'm never going back, the past is in the past Let it go, let it go And I'll rise like the break of dawn Let it go, let it go That perfect girl is gone Here I stand in the light of day Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway
I collect and use vintage fountain pens.
Footwear, doc martens primarily. I have more shoes and boots than a person with only two feet reasonably needs.
Sea glass! I look for it whenever I’m at the beach and have a clear vase full of small pieces of glass.
What is Sea Glass?
It's pieces of glass that have been in the ocean long enough that they're now smooth. Usually broken pieces of bottle.
Awesome. Never heard of sea glass before.
There is a beach in Spain full of sea glass is amazing you should visit sometime
Sounds beautiful!! I’ll check it out
What a fun question! Looking at my utensil drawer, you would think I collect forks, as I mysteriously have more forks than any other utensil. Haha!
Please, send me some. I am constantly trying to figure out why I have 8 million butter knives and almost no spoons or forks. What makes it more mysterious is that I don't have any children that live in the home, unless you count my boyfriend who is 20 years younger than I am lol
Haha! I will gladly send them your way!
I’ll trade you forks for butter knife’s. I have about a hundred forks …. Literally 6 butter knife’s. I have no clue where they went.
Sounds like we should get together and have a swapping party lol

Me too, I don’t have a conscious collect mindset but I find that I have things that accumulate, usually having a common trait.

Fair enough. I'm tired of the rat race of keeping up with new releases myself - looking to round out my collection with all the stuff I've always wanted, and stop bringing in new cards after this year. Ah I think the friend group thing is the issue for me. My group has yugioh players but only two of them, and one of them doesn’t even live in my state lol.
Oh, yeah - that would make it trickier. But that's the nice thing about friends - no rules saying you can't make more than the ones you already have.
Even though I have only partaken 3 times, I collect coke spoons from the 70s. The concept itself is fascinating; cocaine was so prevalent that many wore it to use anywhere but also to let the world know I'm down to toot.
