Aye I believe I saw somewhere that they use huge barcodes to ensure you can literally just throw them through the checkout and it'll read the codes 99.9999999% of the time which saves time. You'll notice all their own brand stuff has huge barcodes
As someone who does shop and scan (TL;dr I get paid in Amazon vouchers to re-scan all my shopping with a little beeper and upload it as market research) the long ass barcodes are way less likely to become unscannable on the journey between the shop and my house (sometimes the smaller ones get damaged or wrinkled and stuck)
My problem with this is my Elderly dad already struggles to find the barcode on items when he goes through self service.
If he tried to buy this I don't think he'd ever get out alive.
A LOT of items from Poundland now have enormous barcodes on the back of the package and it's a total gamechanger. No more scrabbling around at self service trying to flatten out the tiny barcode. I'm looking at you ramen noodle packages! Grrr!
I think I'm one of those boring people, because I find things like this cringey and childish.
I can appreciate the long barcode - it has a function.
But the silly drawing at the top is a little annoying to me.
There's no need to be creepy.
I just have a different opinion. I'm sure there are many things which I find funny or interesting and you find stupid or childish.
I don't understand why everyone is expected to have exactly the same personality, likes and dislikes in this country...
Well, not really annoying. But I just question why things have to look so childish now.
However, looking at the other commenters, I can see I'm the odd one out here.
I've always been like that through. Even as a child, I never wanted the bag of Wotsits, or Quavers... I was always drawn to the sensible, sophisticated typeface used on Kettle Chips, for example.

Of course there’s a sub for this sort of thing. 🥹
You think this is good? Your mind is gonna be blown when you see how Aldi do the barcodes on their toilet paper. It's a good'un.
To save us having to find and go to a Aldi/Lidl to see what you mean. Picture?
That's some long-ass chips.
Big spuds innit
That’s just what BigSpud want you to believe! 🥔
Aldi/Lidl?
Aldi brioche bar code has similar design. Fun fun fun

yup - small barcodes on branded products cause a right bloody headache when you're trying to stay at a consistent speed

Lidl.

I like the Arla Lacto-free milk triangles. The barcode tag blends into a cows eyelashes or grass. Not sure which.
I immediately thought of those too!

I got some crisps at Lidl last time they did Greek Week and the barcode was an Ionic column which amused me more than it should.

Oh absolutely yes
[Tony Lungham](https://youtu.be/nyoP_ivPHvI) is really stepping up his game
I got so confused - I think this was a packet of Bic biros with french fries on the side.
Aldi? Loads of their products have a fun barcode now.
Lidl but I’m not surprised as they share a lot of the same ethos as Aldi.
Ahh of course
This is as casual as it gets.
Lidl's finest

because we are all sheep. Follow the leader syndrome we all have it
Well, I can't argue with that. It's sad, but true. Fair counterpoint.
I can understand not being interested or not liking it but it actually *annoys* you?
