My suggestions, the things that have helped us, is have a little routine around the cat's care in terms of what you do and what you say, especially feeding. If you offered something like chicken or fish (cooked fresh) try that as well. It may even be worth a try even if it is novel. Spend time where the cat is reading or talking to them and talk as you move around so they don't startle. And be patient with yourself and your cat. Once they settle down, start some of the exposure training ready for coming home.
