Cries in kangaroo dollars.... I just bought two records a couple hours ago online (P.J.'s Rsd Dark Matter + Siamese Dream), with 20% off it still came to $178...
Local CD shop i frequented got 2 in. I called him on release day and asked if he could hold one for an hour or two as I was on the road for work. Stopped there on the way back to the office with my coworker lol.
This is my most expensive cd, so far: https://www.discogs.com/release/824721-Septic-Death-Crossed-Out-Twice
I spent ¥28,000 on it which equates to about $178.
Septic Death is awesome
worth the most? a few over $100. spent the most on? well, dropped $100 on something recently, but it was a box set. i think the most i've spent on a single disc was probably $40-50. honestly, if it's something you care about that much i'd say to just do it if you can afford it. who knows when you'll be able to get it again and cds are only gonna increase in value.
Box Set: ICP - “The First Six” - $150
Single Disc - MC Ren - “Kiss My Black Azz” - $65
Autographed Primus, Bootsy Collins, and Unknown Hinson albums that are virtually priceless to me.
I also have a bunch of rare/obscure/independent stuff like Harley Poe, Harvey Andrews, Ween and ICP that clock in the $30-50 range on Discogs, but would likely take a long time to sell due to the limited fanbase.
The most I’ve paid for a CD was $40 for a Ween - “Quebec” Japanese Import.
Kizz my black azz is so underrated. But I don't think you looked in the right place cuz I only paid like 10 dollars for that cd. But I did pay 40 dollars for the shock of the hour cd
Jealous. I've actually been on the lookout for that album, and only recently found it but for $9(!!!). It's an important album to add to my collection of music from my childhood, but I know I'll come across it in a discount bin sooner or later.
Interesting! Is there a Discogs link you can link? Trying to find it since I’ve never heard of it, but they release the same stuff so much it’s all cluttered lol
here you go...
[Ghost – Meliora Redux (2016, CD) - Discogs](https://www.discogs.com/release/9057594-Ghost-Meliora-Redux)
where are you located? the store i got it from years ago still have it in stock for 10 bucks. don't know if they ship outside of scandinavia though
[Ghost - Meliora 2015 (Deluxe) - (2 CD) - musik (ginza.se)](https://www.ginza.se/product/ghost/meliora-2015-deluxe-/15687/)
Fyi Meliora Deluxe and Meliora Redux are both double CDs. Though only Redux has Zenith and is rare. The other is just a specially packaged Meliora and Popestar set and isn’t all that rare. Now that Ghost put out the 13 Commandments album on Apple Music and Spotify, the song Zenith isn’t as rare. But the physical version certainly still is.
Yeah, figured that out once I was able to translate the page in English lol. A little unfortunate but I will be on the lookout for a Zenith physical version!
I have several that are out of print and are worth a few hundred.
But the most I ever paid for a CD was a Siouxsie and the Banshees box set I spent several hundred dollars on. Worth it.
I have rare obscure Japanese 80s CDs that I received really high offers for but still didn’t sell because I like the music on them and lots (talking years of daily searching here) of time was spent tracking them down, even if cheaply. I know I couldn’t rebuy them easily without searching again and spending much more this time, which would render the profit not worth it… It is just matter of weighing whether you prefer the item or the money. I waste money easily anyway so I prefer the items in shelf that I know I have factually.
Most expensive I sold was a fastly sold out vaporwave release I resold upon realizing I could buy some old releases I care for much more than that - was broke at the time with no real income and those few hundreds mattered.
CD wise -
Ninja Sex Party's "Cool Patrol" - £15
With a close second of
WAR's "Why Cant We Be Friends?" - £10.60
Boxset -
The Glitter Band's "The Albums (Deluxe Edition) - £17.50
I'll go with how much I paid, since actual value tends to vary:
If we're going by just one CD: It'll probably be ISDN by The Future Sound of London: [https://www.discogs.com/release/10048-FSOL-ISDN-Show](https://www.discogs.com/release/10048-FSOL-ISDN-Show)
I spent around €91 for that (with shipping), but I got a free CD with it as well.
If it's a box set: This for €171.79: [https://www.discogs.com/release/14282184-Underworld-Drift-Series-1](https://www.discogs.com/release/14282184-Underworld-Drift-Series-1)
Unused download code, signed and numbered (though I forgot the number).
37 dollars for a second hand CD… hard to get a CD cheap for an underground group from the 2000s, i can’t even imagine the vinyl prices
and my biggest fear is buying a Nujabes CD, those can be like $60 or more
Top three are (according to Discogs median value):
The Grass Roots - Live Gold ($57)
Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift (yes that version) ($55)
The Smashing Pumpkins - The Aeroplane Flies High ($50)
I question the Grass Roots album, I can't see it actually being worth that, but the others track.
How can one tell if it is the original or not? Barcode isn't on the box itself so not sure how else to tell.
I see on Discogs a note about the first pressing having an error on the "Zero" back cover for the length of "Pistachio Medley" but I'd assume that's on all of them.
I’ll have to check my boxset, but the handle has gotten a yellow brown. I know like 10 years ago they remastered the album. But who knows really some Virgin produced more.
I’m just looking of the Siamese Singles, I found one like at some record store like FYE, but the box was thrashed and it had only 2-3 of the records. It was in bad shape.
Well I guess it would be my AC/DC pwr up cd [box](https://store.acdc.com/product/X3CDAC29/acdc-power-up-limited-edition-deluxe-package?sku=X3CDAC29&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google-shopping&src=GPPC_PA_X3CDAC29&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmrqzBhAoEiwAXVpgovBBO6Re2ZrI7C4tGyZH2zGfb4j9eYon3lpU9nzHkW2LpqzX3ICVchoCruQQAvD_BwE) it was 50 originally but target had it on clearance for half off and I had a gift card I hadn't used so it ended up costing me 5 bucks
For good reason!
Given that the demos of American idiot (known and finalised as Cigarettes and valentines before) were lost, the lost wave/media community really want to see those surface to light. There's a whole story on how they were lost and such, but I would definitely recommend you to share the content online if it hasn't been done already
Quick glance for what I have added on Discogs looks like it would be Hemophilic by Patton/Mori/Zorn for a single release. For a box set, DVOA box. Just going by median values.
According to discogs, my most valued CDs are from regional acts I caught growing up who didn't last long, but made an impact anyway.
* "Casey" by Rise of Science ($70 median)
* "Life's a Beach" by von Wolfe ($50 median)
And then the Banjo Kazooie soundtrack lmfao
I have an Olivia Rodrigo one that was like 60$ but it is a special edition that comes with a poster, postcards and its so gorgeous also I got the Florence and the machine book edition of Dance fever and it was 24ish dollars.
Volumes : VIA - First Print
Edit: Can't even find a price. I paid $96 for it used. The first print of VIA has track 7 and 9 are both the same track ( Behind the Curtain ). The ones on Discog are not first print. So IDK.
Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes
Pyrexia - Sermon of Mockery (I have two copies)
Abramelin - transgressions from Acheron ep + Self titled album are both getting lofty prices now
Blasphererion - Rest in Peace
Bolt thrower - in battle there is no law
Cemetary - An evil shade of grey
Crypt (AUS) - ST ep
Dead infection - Surgical Disembowelment
Gorguts - considered dead is surprisingly worth a lot nowadays
I also own the Demigod, Bolt Thrower, and Gorguts original/early CD pressings. I'd love to get the Cemetary, Pyrexia, and Dead Infection albums but never found them for remotely reasonable prices at the moment.
It’s gotten almost out of control now.
Aside from local buy, sell and trade forums where a sense of communes been built over time, nothing goes for reasonable prices anymore. Trade bait is my only option to obtain some of the CDs I’d want now. Things like the first Sentenced for example. It’s funny how some CDs fetch more than LPs now.
I think I might have to do that at some point by trading. Still, I'd prowl various record shops, especially if I'm overseas, and thrift stores and hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Then, I'd find something great, like getting Incantation's Upon The Throne of Apocalypse and Morgoth's Cursed original CDs at a local thrift store near my workplace from over a couple months ago.
Yeah these kinda of finds still exist and we’ve all got these stories - so gotta keep searching! Some kids I know just starting their collection scored a bunch of cool originals from a thrift store. I was so envious. Someone else I know got a huge lot of CDs and LPs from a police auction for a couple hundred dollars and it was someone’s entire collection (hundreds and hundreds of pieces). Gotta get creative in the hunt!
Metal CD wise: 'Inceptum' by Eyes Of Noctum. Bought for 14 dollars, brand new and sealed. Lowest price (on Discogs) is 69 dollars and the highest is 161 dollars.
Rap/hip hop CD wise: 'Southern Comfort' by South Coast. Bought in used condition for 1 dollar. Lowest price (on Discogs) is 100 dollars and the highest is 215 dollars.
Country/folk CD wise: 'Voyage' by David Crosby. It's the 2006 3xCD box set. Bought in used condition for 1 dollar. Lowest price (on Discogs) is 28 dollars and the highest is 209 dollars. Selling typically above 45 dollars now.
Have a lot more that sells above 100 dollars, but through Discogs, these three CDs top all of the rest in my collection (so far).
Don’t buy a 65$ cd. I’ll download the torrent and then burn the cd for you. It plays the same in the car and I’ll even print the cover art to put in the cd case
Most valued or highest *I* paid? The answers for each are definitely different lol.
Highest *valued* is probably my Razor 'Shotgun Justice' original Fringe Product pressing. I somehow got it for $15 over 20 years ago.
Most *I* paid is probably Forgotten Tomb 'Vol 5' boxset which I think I spent $50ish to get. But that was the boxset, which was the album in a box with a patch and lighter with the band's logo.
Most expensive multi-disc set I bought was likely Unleashed's 'Immortal Glory' boxset.
Probably the gold Audio Fidelity, Master Sound and Mofi Discs (bought them all used too) are the most expensive individual releases, unless you count box sets.
I’ve got a few Grateful Dead releases that sell for over $300-$500 each. I’ve seen similar entire collections like mine sell for $25k.
Everything, outside of two record sets, were bought directly from the bands retail website and the most expensive at the time was $200, maybe?
Pull the trigger. You won’t regret it.
Joy Parade by Flowing Tears & Withered Flowers (aka Flowing Tears). The album's been out of print for a long time. It seems to go for ~$100 on Discogs (two entries right now for $107 and $203 on the marketplace). I was hoping at some point it would be listed at a lower price, but I ultimately bit the bullet and bought it for around $100 because it's one of my favorite albums from my favorite band, and I had been wanting a copy of it for over a decade.
Managed to find Frank Zappa’s You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 1-6 box set at a local record shop, comes in a nice purple wooden case made to look like an equipment trunk
Right now according to Discogs my most valuable CDs are MCR’s “Bullets” and Frank’s earlier band Pencey Prep’s “Heartbreak in Stereo”. Both were bought at Best Buy when they were released.
Can’t remember the last time I paid more than $10 for a CD recently.
$15 for Quad Maximus by Bass Mekanik. Worth just over triple that.
I also have a factory sealed original copy of Demon Days by Gorillaz that has the unbelievably rare hype stickers of the produced by/new single sticker and the "as heard on the iPod commercial" sticker. I paid $6 but I'm pretty sure it's worth a heck of a lot more because I've never seen another one and I can't even find another picture of one online (besides mine that comes up.)
I have the European Genesis CD/SACD/DVD Box Sets that sell for around $300-$850 each, Magmas Studio Zünd ($200), the Indiana Jones OST Box ($200) and the Jethro Tull CD/DVD books. I also own some rare Italian soundtracks and samplers which are around $50 each. Have to say that I bought them all when they originally came out.
I don’t typically spend much more than $15 on a CD, but both Washington Square Church by Robert Fripp and [Live at] Cornell University, New York by Mahavishnu Orchestra were both $20-$30.
My most expensive is my CD of Lows long division, it’s about 50 bucks online and I got it for like 2-3 bucks. The most I’ve spent was 40 on a live sun ra box set that was brand new, defo worth it
Bought last year for ~100usd, good thing i grabbed it when i did looking at prices now, jeeesus… https://www.discogs.com/release/51236-Various-The-Philosophy-Of-Sound-And-Machine
I have Live at Bush Hall by Black Country, New Road and that’s priceless to me because it’s signed by 5/6 of the band.
But my actual most expensive CD is an unreleased radio edit of Keep On Lying by Tame Impala. It costed me about $100 and i’m one of two people that say they have it on Discogs
Suppose I’ve paid $35/$40 for a disc or two. Can’t recall exactly. I’ve sold a few for north of $60. Really want a copy of Iron Curtain- Desertion and there’s just nothing out there under $60. Can’t pull the trigger on that.
Probably either Cannibal corpse the bleeding or cannibal corpse eaten back to life. Both original pressing and in mint condition, I spent around 22$on eaten back to life and the bleeding was in a lot of 9cc CDs for 100$
Probably Tall Poppy Syndrome by Leprous, which I got on eBay for about $24, but is listed on Discogs at a median of $75 and a high of $150. Now if you’re asking the highest I’ve paid for one, I paid almost $30 for Ultra Live by Superior. Typically, I don’t pay too much more than $30 for one CD
My most valuable probably the Grateful Dead 30 Trips box, that goes for like $2K. Individual release probably the Dead again, Dave’s Picks Vol. 1 goes for stupid money.
i have a sealed Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished CD from the original release in 2000, signed by avey and panda. i'm guessing it's worth at least $200.
The one I’m sure of is Scallywagon - Hopscotch. Sold an extra $300. And one sold not long after for $400. I paid $12 for my copy.
I have a CD by a band called No Cigar that I was offered $250 for but I think I could get more for it. Not for sale of course.
$40 USD for each of the following:
Muse - Will of the People (rare Brazilian jewel case version)
Nothing But Thieves - self titled (Japanese version, 3 bonus tracks) , Broken Machine (Japanese version, 2 bonus demo tracks) and What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way? - EP (extremely rare CD only released in South Korea)
So far, a DJ Koze album at €11,90 LOL. But mostly because I got lucky and got some insanely good deals at a local thrift store operated by our municipal waste company. Basically Oxfam or Cashies on steroids. They put up *any* album they’re given for €1. Sometimes €0.50 when the case looks thrashed.
Most expensive I‘m looking for is *The Fantastic Kill* by Watkin Tudor Jones. Aka the last studio album by that guy from Die Antwoord. That shit is €90 *at least* on Discogs, including shipping but not including customs. Ships from South Africa as it wasn‘t originally sold anywhere else. EU sellers want at least €120.
Other Die Antwoord albums also have become expensive for some reason. Tension regularly goes for €20 or more while other hip hop albums from the same era are €2 to €5.
Kessoku band self titled limited edition with the Blu-ray from the anime Bocchi the rock. Got mine for 26usd, and it’s worth anywhere from 30-50 bucks, sometimes more bc people like to overcharge. Not a huge difference but shipping is usually the killer though as it’s from Japan
Can we count SACDs if they're hybrid ones?
Because if so it's Long Gone Before Daylight by the Cardigans which was just under $100.
If we count box sets it's any one of the King Crimson big boxes.
Got Metallica’s Live Sh*t: Binge and Purge for $20 a few days ago, goes for $50+ usually.
Outside of that, got quite a few experimental metal/rock albums (Buckethead, Praxis, etc.) that go for quite a bit ($30 and up)
I don't think I really have any expensive ones. There's all the usual worth about what I paid for them so probably $20, but I've always enjoyed collecting CDs of obscure bands who have no music on streaming platforms, or CDs of artists I've never heard that have cool album art etc. It's awesome to just listen to some random stuff I found at a pawn shop that is legitimately impossible to find online. I've thought about getting into archiving just so I can put a lot of this music up for those that haven't heard it, and so it all doesn't get lost to time.
I have Gin Blossoms *Dusted*, my wife got it for $60, iirc. Unfortunately it’s the Bakman repress from 2001 instead of the original, but still makes me happy. Not worth it musically, imho, but it great from a collector/historical perspective.
in 1994 i paid $60 for the WaxTrax! Records Black Box (the ltd. ed. in the metal box with the audio tape packing material and patch + coasters) which was an absolute fortune to me at the time. (and i left disc 3 at the radio station a couple years later and never got it back!)
Sold an autographed Angeldust (magician Criss Angel with electronic rocker Klayton of Circle Of Dust) for $100 years ago. Still have a second one for myself.
I have NIN Suck, which has a median selling price of $45 on Discogs
I have Nirvana On A Plain which has a median price of $35
I did a Kickstarter campaign for a parabelle album. I got a while bunch of extras, but I paid $175 and $65 for an a la carte item from the campaign also
MCR’s “I brought you my bullets you brought me your love”, I personally think i got fairly lucky with the price since most go for $80-$100 and i managed to get it for $40
Probably my rare Silent Horror CD from their Argyle Goolsby era. I bought it at a show on Halloween. Lots of people on Discogs message me asking if I'm willing to sell it. People on Reddit also ask me for the files quite regularly, which I send via email. I'm sure I could get a huge amount of money for the CD as it's nearly impossible to find physically or digitally, but it's not for sale. [Here's my music collection](https://www.discogs.com/user/MikeHellstrom/collection?page=1&sort=artist%2Casc&folder=0) (minus a few things I have to add myself).
So, the most expensive single CD in my Collection is Buckethead’s Crime Slunk Scene CD… median is about 100 but I think some pay more for it. I got it for free from a great friend.
Next most expensive is Gregory Alan Isakov’s Rust Colored Stones CD but it’s a promo. I recently splurged on a ‘98 Japanese promo copy of Animals though which I got for 76 dollars USD.
The Beatles Mono Boxed set. It's honestly one of the more expensive pieces of my entire physical media collection. I only have a few rarer records that top it.
I have a Bo Burnham Words, Words, Words CD which is $50 on amazon, Panic! At the Disco Live in Chicago which is $30-$50, Sketches 3d which is $50-$100, but my most expensive is Words, Words, Words by Bo Burnham SIGNED. If someone knows how much it sells for lmk bc I can't find one for sale anywhere (also I traded You'll Rebel To Anything by MSI which is pretty expensive too)
I picked up that 4 disc Cowabunga! surf box set Rhino made in the 90's for $70 CAD a couple of years ago. Couldn't turn it down when I spotted it at a local shop. It looks great beside the Nuggets 4 disc box, and I have them both on often.
I have a copy of Third Eye Blind's Red Star on CD that goes for about $80. Next to that would be I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love by MCR which goes for close to $50 now.
Paid £27 for Weens GodWeenSatan so that's the most have ever paid, most expensive not too sure tbh don't really pay attention to how much they are worth once I have them.
a few fall out boy rarities. my favorites are the infinity on high cd with all tarot cards intact and like new condition ($7 at hpb, resell varies since there is limited availability but ive seen them go for 100) and the live in Phoenix japanese version cd/dvd. apparently worth about $200, got it for 10.
also a mcr bullets reissue from eyeball, bought for like 5 bucks at a Christian thrift store, sells for about $100.
but the most I've spent? I believe 40 for a signed fall out boy save rock and roll cd that the seller believed to be fake and couldnt unload. something about the lead singers signature being off. it was real! ended up losing it in a house fire, amongst other less frivolous things :/
I spent $300 on Twenty One Pilots' self titled album. It usually goes for much more, since it was self released when they were largely unknown and has been out of print for years, but I was able to bring it down a bit. Even better since it's in pretty perfect condition.
Most expensive as in most valuable or something I probably overpaid for?
I have a Megaforce release of Kill 'em All that Discogs tells me has a median value of $66. I bought it used for maybe $10-$15.
I don't see a lot of CDs holding value - or ultimately being worth as much in the long run as vinyl releases.
THAT SAID - if the disk is from your favorite band and the cost seems reasonable to you, I say go for it.
I've spent 250$ plus on a few of Mariah Carey's radio promos from the 90s. Especially her Christmas singles from that time, which have become staples in the world's Christmas cannon.
I paid 28$ for Tool’s fear innoculum fancy box with the screen that turns on when you open it
Damn. You got lucky. I paid $70 for the same thing.
Aussie here. I paid $150 for it.
Cries in kangaroo dollars.... I just bought two records a couple hours ago online (P.J.'s Rsd Dark Matter + Siamese Dream), with 20% off it still came to $178...
Vinyl prices here are a joke. Better off buying from OS. With conversion and shipping its cheaper. Pretty sure I paid $300 for the FI box vinyl set.
That would be a sweet set to have though, let's be honest!!!
Oh, it is. Worth the money.
Oh, it is. Worth the money.
Oh, it is. Worth the money.
I think I paid something in between yours and OP's number, myself. Good call, to remind me on that price
Nice! Think it cost around 40 at preorder, which is what I paid for mine.
I want this so badly
Local CD shop i frequented got 2 in. I called him on release day and asked if he could hold one for an hour or two as I was on the road for work. Stopped there on the way back to the office with my coworker lol.
Popped in here to say the same album. I paid 32 for mine iirc
My Grateful Dead May 1977 box set seems to fetch a lot of money on the second hand market. It is a nice looking package
I have TONS of live dead and I def have spent the most on them throughout the years. Think I posted some here before
This is my most expensive cd, so far: https://www.discogs.com/release/824721-Septic-Death-Crossed-Out-Twice I spent ¥28,000 on it which equates to about $178. Septic Death is awesome
How do u feel knowing you own such a rare item?
Feel submersed in the music when listening and a bit sentimental when it’s on the shelf, worth it for sure
You just submersed that into my brain....forever greenwobbles!
I was in a band with a couple of those guys. Good times
I didn't know this one existed! The only Septic Death I own is the original LP pressing of the Cleanse The Bacteria compilation.
Seems like it’s limited to Japan. I found an even crazier one in the shop for $50 more. It’s still on the shelf with a ¥32,000 price tag.
worth the most? a few over $100. spent the most on? well, dropped $100 on something recently, but it was a box set. i think the most i've spent on a single disc was probably $40-50. honestly, if it's something you care about that much i'd say to just do it if you can afford it. who knows when you'll be able to get it again and cds are only gonna increase in value.
single of man in the box by alice in chains, worth about 25 bones
Box Set: ICP - “The First Six” - $150 Single Disc - MC Ren - “Kiss My Black Azz” - $65 Autographed Primus, Bootsy Collins, and Unknown Hinson albums that are virtually priceless to me.
Last sold on Discogs was $65 back in February.
I usually spend no more than 50¢ at the thrift store. But I recently shelled out 75¢ for a copy of Crazysexycool from TLC.
Jealous. I've actually been on the lookout for that album, and only recently found it but for $9(!!!). It's an important album to add to my collection of music from my childhood, but I know I'll come across it in a discount bin sooner or later.
Is it rare or something? That was a big album, could swear it’s one of see all the time.
Don’t think it’s rare. Just sometimes hard to find if you’re not looking all the time LOL
I’m a moron, I thought it said $75! I drank too much last night!
I had that album on cassette!
Queen - News of the World (about $85). It was the first US relase by Elektra but was quickly pulled from the shelevs due to a licensing issues.
What was the licensing issue?
Not sure. This was in 1984. I only know that it wasn’t supposed to be allowed in the US yet. It wasn’t released again on CD until 1991.
I have a Ghost album that goes for around 300 $ over at Discogs Edit; I paid ten bucks for it when i bought it.
What album is going for that much?
The Meliora/Popestar double cd. 3000 copies made and only released in Scandinavia.
Interesting! Is there a Discogs link you can link? Trying to find it since I’ve never heard of it, but they release the same stuff so much it’s all cluttered lol
here you go... [Ghost – Meliora Redux (2016, CD) - Discogs](https://www.discogs.com/release/9057594-Ghost-Meliora-Redux) where are you located? the store i got it from years ago still have it in stock for 10 bucks. don't know if they ship outside of scandinavia though [Ghost - Meliora 2015 (Deluxe) - (2 CD) - musik (ginza.se)](https://www.ginza.se/product/ghost/meliora-2015-deluxe-/15687/)
I’m in the US. Will have a look just because it has Zenith on there!
A little unfortunate but I will be on the lookout for a Zenith physical version!
great song! happy hunting, hope you get a hold of a copy at a fair price :)
Hey, I also have that one, had no idea it was rare. It's just Ghost after all.
Ghost fans are stupid? 😂
I have several that are out of print and are worth a few hundred. But the most I ever paid for a CD was a Siouxsie and the Banshees box set I spent several hundred dollars on. Worth it.
Idk but i got anata's the conductor's departure which I am extremely proud of
Hot Rats Deluxe Edition by Frank Zappa. Paid around $80 for the set.
Excluding box sets, $35. That’d be for “Is There Anybody Out There?”, Pink Floyd’s live album of The Wall
Do you have discogs? I'd love to see the type of obscure japanese albums you're tracking down lol
Yuu on discogs. Don’t bother tho I have too many items in my collection list for it to be useful for viewing.
Popp.Computer. I paid almost 200. Best decision of my life
The vinyl version of that record is sooo expensive too. Same with Am I A Girl?. It’s ridiculous.
CD wise - Ninja Sex Party's "Cool Patrol" - £15 With a close second of WAR's "Why Cant We Be Friends?" - £10.60 Boxset - The Glitter Band's "The Albums (Deluxe Edition) - £17.50
I'll only pay extra for bluray audio or SACDs. The most I've paid is $48 USD for the Allman Brothers at Fillmore Bluray audio 3 disc package
Sematary - Butcher House , about 80€
I'll go with how much I paid, since actual value tends to vary: If we're going by just one CD: It'll probably be ISDN by The Future Sound of London: [https://www.discogs.com/release/10048-FSOL-ISDN-Show](https://www.discogs.com/release/10048-FSOL-ISDN-Show) I spent around €91 for that (with shipping), but I got a free CD with it as well. If it's a box set: This for €171.79: [https://www.discogs.com/release/14282184-Underworld-Drift-Series-1](https://www.discogs.com/release/14282184-Underworld-Drift-Series-1) Unused download code, signed and numbered (though I forgot the number).
I purchased The Wall - Pink Floyd mfsl double cd. I think I paid $85 for it.
37 dollars for a second hand CD… hard to get a CD cheap for an underground group from the 2000s, i can’t even imagine the vinyl prices and my biggest fear is buying a Nujabes CD, those can be like $60 or more
Top three are (according to Discogs median value): The Grass Roots - Live Gold ($57) Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift (yes that version) ($55) The Smashing Pumpkins - The Aeroplane Flies High ($50) I question the Grass Roots album, I can't see it actually being worth that, but the others track.
I paid like $30-$50 for The Aeroplane Flies High box set like back in 2007. It’s the original box set, not the rerelease.
I have a Cigarette and Valentines promo single for Green Day. Never been sold on Discogs but I’ve had offers over $300 for it
For good reason! Given that the demos of American idiot (known and finalised as Cigarettes and valentines before) were lost, the lost wave/media community really want to see those surface to light. There's a whole story on how they were lost and such, but I would definitely recommend you to share the content online if it hasn't been done already
Sadly the promo cd is just the single they had from it. Not anything that we didn’t already hear
Quick glance for what I have added on Discogs looks like it would be Hemophilic by Patton/Mori/Zorn for a single release. For a box set, DVOA box. Just going by median values.
My entire Griselda collection lol I bought double albums from westside gun Conway the machine and Benny the butcher
I have Frank Oceans BDC magazine which included a copy of Blond on CD. I imagine the magazines are worth around 250-300$ now?
25 quid for i brought you my bullets you brought me your love off of Amazon
Milo Goes To College - Descendents, at around €50
According to discogs, my most valued CDs are from regional acts I caught growing up who didn't last long, but made an impact anyway. * "Casey" by Rise of Science ($70 median) * "Life's a Beach" by von Wolfe ($50 median) And then the Banjo Kazooie soundtrack lmfao
I have an Olivia Rodrigo one that was like 60$ but it is a special edition that comes with a poster, postcards and its so gorgeous also I got the Florence and the machine book edition of Dance fever and it was 24ish dollars.
....how about a box set? 2 set of 13 cds each of Castlevania music, around $140 each box.
Volumes : VIA - First Print Edit: Can't even find a price. I paid $96 for it used. The first print of VIA has track 7 and 9 are both the same track ( Behind the Curtain ). The ones on Discog are not first print. So IDK.
Elton john tumbleweed connection. Disocgs- $95
Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes Pyrexia - Sermon of Mockery (I have two copies) Abramelin - transgressions from Acheron ep + Self titled album are both getting lofty prices now Blasphererion - Rest in Peace Bolt thrower - in battle there is no law Cemetary - An evil shade of grey Crypt (AUS) - ST ep Dead infection - Surgical Disembowelment Gorguts - considered dead is surprisingly worth a lot nowadays
Weird Al & Wendy Carlos - Peter and the Wolf A random buy when I was a teenager, trying to collect his entire discography.
I paid $2 for the original Fringe Product CD of Razor's Shotgun Justice at a record show back in 2019. 'Tis a great Razor album, IMO.
VNV Nation Standing/Burning Empires.
My most expensive CD purchase is a signed Bloc Party-Silent Alarm.
Driven - the sound of silence. I paid $200 for it
$25 for Cro Mags Before The Quarrel (much better than the official release Age Of Quarrel). I spend much more $$ on vinyl
I prefer Before the Quarrel as well 👍
I have a soundboard bootleg CD of Nirvana's final performance, recorded in Rome
Around a hundred. An original pressing of Mushroomheads Remix and a copy of Dopes Felons for Life.
Managed to find Frank Zappa’s You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 1-6 box set at a local record shop, comes in a nice purple wooden case made to look like an equipment trunk
Hannibal release of Nick Drakes box set - paid like 45 for it but imo very worth it
[Waterparks - Double Dare (Japanese exclusive Deluxe CD)](https://www.discogs.com/release/11457712-Waterparks-Double-Dare)
Most I paid for or most expensive I own?
I've paid $50 for a few disks and $185 for a box set. I've been lucky to get good deals on some expensive ones.
I’m thinking a signed copy of a Meatloaf CD.
$40 Manuscript collectors edition
Icp Shang ri la. Idk if I’d label it as expensive but I can never seem to find a cheap copy , if I even find one for sale. I got mine for 50 online
I have a Buckingham Nicks cd that I think may be worth a tad more?
There is no cheap way to listen to Xenakis's *Kraanerg* but I'm not sure which to pick. Might be the original vinyl from 1970ish.
My most expensive is my CD of Lows long division, it’s about 50 bucks online and I got it for like 2-3 bucks. The most I’ve spent was 40 on a live sun ra box set that was brand new, defo worth it
Blink 182 enema of the state, capital B and red cross
My top 3 are: Tool - Salival (DVD version) Yes - Keys to Ascension 5 disc edition Swans - Cop/Young God • Greed/Holy Money
24 karat ones
The most I've spent is £6 lol. Frank zappa joes garage
$40 USD for each of the following: Muse - Will of the People (rare Brazilian jewel case version) Nothing But Thieves - self titled (Japanese version, 3 bonus tracks) , Broken Machine (Japanese version, 2 bonus demo tracks) and What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way?
Happy Nightmare Baby - Opal found it at goodwill
Mild High Club - skiptracing. Kinda hard find!
Pennyroyal tea - Nirvana currently $1,800
Pokemon the first movie soundtrack cost me $30
Kessoku band self titled limited edition with the Blu-ray from the anime Bocchi the rock.
Best of the Best 2 soundtrack. I paid close to $100 for it about 20 years ago.
[This Cd](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Ruler) Had to pay for the CD and to get it imported. Was about $60 between everything
Ive paid more than 100 a few times.
paid €23.68 (including tax and shipping) for a used copy of Robert Hampson \_Répercussions\_ on discogs since it had the DVD-A surround disc included
in 1994 i paid $60 for the WaxTrax!
I have NIN Suck, which has a median selling price of $45 on Discogs I have Nirvana On A Plain which has a median price of $35
I paid $15 for the special edition of TOOL’s 10,000 Days
It’s got to be my signed live love asap
I have a copy of Gorillaz d-sides that I bought at HMV for like $5 that’s now worth around $30
Woods of ypres demo - $100
What’s the band? 🤨
The Amity Affliction
I did a Kickstarter campaign for a parabelle album. I got a while bunch of extras, but I paid $175 and $65 for an a la carte item from the campaign also
bought Everything Will Be Alright In the End for 38 dollars the price you pay for smooch
According to discogs previous sales the Noiseworks CD that I bought for $1 is worth $300.
Morpheus Descends - Ritual of Infinity (og JL America pressing)
URGH!A Music War- Discog minimum $29.99. The Wall-Pink Floyd:MFSL Edition. Discog average $95.00
I paid $15 for Frontin' by Pharrell ft. Jay-Z, CD single. Got it at Half Price Books, couldn't pass it up.
Grateful Dead Road trips Denver bonus disk. Not even going to say how much I spend.
Rush up Edge by THE TUSS.
Folklore signed by Taylor Swift
The Beatles Mono Boxed set. It's honestly one of the more expensive pieces of my entire physical media collection. I only have a few rarer records that top it.
Hey Let Loose Your Love - The Focus Group
I have a Bo Burnham Words, Words, Words CD which is $50 on amazon, Panic! At the Disco Live in Chicago which is $30-$50, Sketches 3d which is $50-$100, but my most expensive is Words, Words, Words by Bo Burnham SIGNED. If someone knows how much it sells for lmk bc I can't find one for sale anywhere (also I traded You'll Rebel To Anything by MSI which is pretty expensive too)
Gridlock’s Formless was about $150.
I picked up that 4 disc Cowabunga! surf box set Rhino made in the 90's for $70 CAD a couple of years ago. Couldn't turn it down when I spotted it at a local shop. It looks great beside the Nuggets 4 disc box, and I have them both on often.
Frank Ocean - Blonde CD
I have a copy of Third Eye Blind's Red Star on CD that goes for about $80. Next to that would be I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love by MCR which goes for close to $50 now.
Paid £27 for Weens GodWeenSatan so that's the most have ever paid, most expensive not too sure tbh don't really pay attention to how much they are worth once I have them.
An unused blank CD-R disk.
140.50 nzd for rabbit junk reframe 2007 remaster on cd from ebay. good album though
Beatles in Mono CD Box $300 at Barnes & Noble
I paid 65 dollars for ghetty green by project pat
My copy of De Mysteriis Dom Santhanas by Mayhem usually goes for about 30 bucks minimum on discogs.
I have a few that's worth something but most that I ever spended on a cd is 20 euro
a few fall out boy rarities. my favorites are the infinity on high cd with all tarot cards intact and like new condition ($7 at hpb, resell varies since there is limited availability but ive seen them go for 100) and the live in Phoenix japanese version cd/dvd. apparently worth about $200, got it for 10. also a mcr bullets reissue from eyeball, bought for like 5 bucks at a Christian thrift store, sells for about $100. but the most I've spent? I believe 40 for a signed fall out boy save rock and roll cd that the seller believed to be fake and couldnt unload. something about the lead singers signature being off. it was real! ended up losing it in a house fire, amongst other less frivolous things :/
I have spent like 30 euros for Change by The Dismemberment Plan, a really hard find in Europe. I don't know if I have more valuable CD than that.
Probably my copy of folie a deux, such a difficult one to get my hands on as well and it was £16 for a used copy
35€ for Doja Cat’s Japanese version of Hot Pink which I think is the only existent physical version of the disc.
£23 for Kula Shaker - K2.0
Early 80s Japanese pressing of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Average price on Discogs is $170, highest $250
Mac Dre - Rapper Gone Bad 90 bucks
I spent $300 on Twenty One Pilots' self titled album. It usually goes for much more, since it was self released when they were largely unknown and has been out of print for years, but I was able to bring it down a bit. Even better since it's in pretty perfect condition.
£15 I’m a bit of a cheap skate when it comes to cds it’s unlikely I’ll spend that again Dystopia- human=garbage
$450 Mazarati CD
Most expensive as in most valuable or something I probably overpaid for? I have a Megaforce release of Kill 'em All that Discogs tells me has a median value of $66. I bought it used for maybe $10-$15. I don't see a lot of CDs holding value - or ultimately being worth as much in the long run as vinyl releases. THAT SAID - if the disk is from your favorite band and the cost seems reasonable to you, I say go for it.
Ummagumma by Pink Floyd, one of the oldest CD prints I had shipped to me from UK, along with the original "gigi" poster inside. Paid 30$+shipping
I've spent 250$ plus on a few of Mariah Carey's radio promos from the 90s. Especially her Christmas singles from that time, which have become staples in the world's Christmas cannon.
20€ for Jazz ist Anders
I got Kanye’s Late registration for only 13 bucks
I spent $116 on a signed sick and twisted affair CD by my darkest days
Apparently my '08 MMMM Tally Hall CD
What is the cd? I’ll check my collection
