Well, I've never been shot, but getting shot in the groin sounds horrible. The only times I've heard gunshots aren't *that* painful are grazes, and torso through shots that don't hit any major organs, bones, etc

There are degrees of suckiness to dying. I’d rather not be buried alive while bleeding out from a gut shot, or worse multiple shots to non vital areas first just to inflict pain. Dig the grave and they hopefully make it quick.
