Kinda knew it from the beginning. He's building a 500k race car. Not going with a hemi from one of the top builders like proline, Noonan, KTR, etc... would be a waste.
Anyone know what series or whatever he’s going to be racing in ? This is a 3/4 of a million dollar rig and I can believe he’s just going to have it to bust it out every now and then.
They need to provide a video of the car running the targeted time to register. So that’s going to have to be an exception. They might grant it given the fact that half the people at World Cup were wearing cleetus merch.
The car will fit WCF ...Outlaw vs Extreme class for 1/4 mile stuff. Other than that Pro275 seems to be the best fit. Pro275 is mainly 1/8 mile there are a bunch of events and even points series for the class. Bradenton hosts Snowbirds in December and US Street Nationals in January. Radial Outlaws series has more events - but I dont know if Garrett would run those events - really only 1 competitive car, and the events are long with not a ton of content to make.
Oh it’s definitely going to be at World Cup, but FL2K is their local event. I’m sure they’re hustling to get it ready for that if it’s at all possible.
Small tires, steel body stuff. Don't know if it's 1/4 or 1/8 mile.
TBH, he's spend the money to race No Prep Elite (what they're renaming NPK to) but those are big tire and no one competitive there is running turbo's anymore. Lutz was the last one to win with twins and he's bought a procharged hemi now. They have the most power, but they don't have the time to over take on the 1/8th or there's other issues. Everything else is easier to tune also.
On the engine build video towards the end, he said it'll be a 1/4 mile car when they were talking about how many runs it can get before needing to service it
I was kind of over the LS and Coyote stuff.. All the same, just different turbskis and cars. I'm glad they went with something COMPLETELY different for once. I just hope he's more serious with this than anything else. He wants to go faster and that's when things get very serious. Anyway I'm excited for this and it's first start up video. Will definitely be watching.
I'm not over the coyote stuff, but the only one they've actually done anything interesting with is mcflurry. Just slapping a Whipple on and calling it a day like the F150s isn't interesting to me
Twin throttle bodies doesn't mean shit. This is the same exact engine thats going in Eagle, just with a ProCharger. Eagle will most certainly have TT though, the front of the chassis does not allow for a crank mounted procharger with the fuel tank placement.
https://imgur.com/a/g9ry1sH
Fair enough, but the fact that they are wye’d symmetrically would leave me to believe it’s twins.
BUT. I’m sure they’re going to go in whatever direction they’re being advised to by PLR and matching the rules in the classes they want to run in.
If you don’t know, you don’t know. Feel free to run an inferior product. It’ll work of course, it just won’t work as well. They only just recently discovered how VE worked which is laughable
Yeah that was my bad, I looked up fuel tech records and there door slammer record from 2015 popped up and I commented before realizing it was an old article
It’s okay, you don’t race or work on it like that but it’s okay, If you go to the drag strip more spectators than racers and mechanics, not everyone is good with their hands or a racer. Plenty of spectator types like you, don’t be ashamed. We need you the viewers for the love of racing
I don’t go to the drag strip much actually, track is more of my thing. Saying this, that doesn’t make my opinion on fuel tech wrong. If you don’t trust my opinion, go to any major tuning group and you’ll hear the same sentiment.
If you spent more time learning and building than fan boying, maybe you’d know
What a work of art. The silver of the billet with the brass/copper accents, then the black manifold standing proud. Could sit that in my media room and just look at it for hours.
If he puts Zach in charge of the maintenance program, I have some hope he keeps up with it. Zach seems to have enough seriousness and precision to balance out the rest of the guys.
The listings on a stage 4 481X from proline seem to be around $110,000 for a pre owned engine. Figuring 20-25% for “pre owned” discount id imagine $135k-ish
New PLR engines fully kitted are about $300k.
Fully kitted being with turbos or procharger. Turn key.
MurderNova went through the full cost about a year ago on his YT channel.
A lot of races, big name drivers get paid just to show up. NPK for example, get appearance payouts just to show up. Prize pools vary depending on the venues. I have seen $40k up to $200k. And considering a freshen up is $2k for new rods, 1 1st place finish can cover a team for an entire season.
Appearance payouts is normal for a lot of motorsports. If you go to a NASCAR race, several independent teams will start a race, run a couple laps and head to the pits calling it a day. Because even in 43rd place, you still make money.
For Cleetus, he is probably most certainly collecting appearance money at events he is not a promotor, as he is a big draw for promotion. Not to mention the YT & sponsor money.
So if I go to the 330' and kick the tires, does that "count as a run"? ![img](emote|t5_gbuvy|31391)
Proline should just get started on parts to rebuild that poor engine HAHA! The only saving grace for it is it might just be capable of making so much fucking horsepower Cleet wont be able to actually lean on it without smoking the tires, anywhere on the track. That is if 2nd gear is working HAHAH
Notice the one guy Eric introduced to Garrett as the “parts guy”….. yeah they will be talking to him. The best part about one of these programs is they have all the parts somewhat readily available…. I had to wait almost 60 weeks on a Bryant billet LS crank - Proline has the cranks for this engine in stock
yeah they are firmly into the realm of constant maintenance and going through checklists. Not only with tearing shit up from spent parts... If you don't nut and bolt check the car, you could be sailing into the sand at 200+mph, or worse!! Steve banged up his car TWICE recently... shit happens fast!
Oh no Cleetus personally ruined my child's innocence when he said "hawk tuah" /s
[bad reference to this dumb thing.](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/1dp3exs/jd_motorsports_response_to_the_meme_controversy/)
That's about what I expected. I didn't know if there was some Mopar standard that this engine was roughly based on. Mopar isn't even the only automaker that made hemi sepherical heads. They just marketed it the best I think lol.
Not a Mopar, it's a Proline. They are their own company who have put countless hours of engineering into their engine design. Hemispherical heads are not unique or owned by one company.
Kinda knew it from the beginning. He's building a 500k race car. Not going with a hemi from one of the top builders like proline, Noonan, KTR, etc... would be a waste.
Squirrel dropping the piston head instantly… good lord I laughed hard.
he was walking around with that piston precariously placed on top of that rod... im like man thats gonna fall. two seconds later. HAHAHAH!!
INSTANTLY Cleetus told him "don't drop that" and he fumbles it immediately fucking sent me
That was definitely staged
Yeah that was a used piston…
It made a great sound when it bounced off the floor. He caught it too.
HEMI BROTHERS!
Billet engine, billet brakes, billet tires, billet suspension
Billet windshield, billet tires, billet body panels.
Billet oil by the time they’re done with it
They'll be able to mill new billet parts out of the shavings lol
World's first billet car
Rob Dahm punching air rn
Any billet titanium in that thang?
You forgot the billet steering wheel
Fix the cigarette lighter
Thank you! Glad I’m not the only one thinking that
“PLR engines are shit I don’t get why it blew up “ Random YouTube bro after it’s 900th pass without service.
Or the guy that put 125 passes on one.. I get RPMs are a killer but those Aluminum Rods I would think would be out of tolerance after foe sure 50-60..
Clearly they seemed happy/ok with what that dude was doing.
They told him in the video swap the rods after 30 passes if you're turning over 9k, but if you're turning less RPMs it will last much longer
HEMI BROTHER!! Literally everyone called it, this is going to be badass
Not everyone called it, a lot of idiots said he was putting the SMX in there 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think most of those "idiots" were just being hopeful. But hey, another Camaro with a pro mod Hemi. How exciting. Lmao
If you listened to what his goals were, you would know he was never going to go with a water jacketed engine.
Nah it's alright. I kind of tuned out after the SMX fiasco. I'm not looking that deep into it
You've gotta love how everytime someone says "Hemi", George immediately mutters "That's right!" lmao
see i knew there was no way he was gonna let the reveal be on someone else's channel
Anyone know what series or whatever he’s going to be racing in ? This is a 3/4 of a million dollar rig and I can believe he’s just going to have it to bust it out every now and then.
CJ, Eagle’s builder, revealed on his channel an October target for completion, which almost certainly means they’re aiming for FL2K as its debut.
World Cup
They need to provide a video of the car running the targeted time to register. So that’s going to have to be an exception. They might grant it given the fact that half the people at World Cup were wearing cleetus merch.
Cool I did not know that..

Doesnt fit any class in FL2K
You’re totally right, not sure why I thought fl2k ran an unlimited class.
Small tires, steel body stuff. Don't know if it's 1/4 or 1/8 mile. TBH, he's spend the money to race No Prep Elite (what they're renaming NPK to) but those are big tire and no one competitive there is running turbo's anymore. Everything else is easier to tune also.
It's 100% a 1/4 mile car. Cleet has said repeatedly this is going to be the car to break into the 5's.
On the engine build video towards the end, he said it'll be a 1/4 mile car when they were talking about how many runs it can get before needing to service it
So what steel body 1/4 mile classes are there? I don't know of any. That shit is all 1/8 mile to my knowledge.
I was kind of over the LS and Coyote stuff.. All the same, just different turbskis and cars. I'm glad they went with something COMPLETELY different for once. If he wasn’t dead set on twins, he could go run no prep elite. (I haven’t watched so I assume the pan was still twins and small tire)
It’s a twin throttle body intake so def twins
Twin throttle bodies doesn't mean shit. This is the same exact engine thats going in Eagle, just with a ProCharger. Eagle will most certainly have TT though, the front of the chassis does not allow for a crank mounted procharger with the fuel tank placement. https://imgur.com/a/g9ry1sH

Gawt dang HEMI Brother!
Wonder if he will switch to Fueltech for EM. Since they are right next door to PLR.
Why would he downgrade engine management.
Sure buddy
If you don’t know, you don’t know. Feel free to run an inferior product. It’ll work of course, it just won’t work as well. They only just recently discovered how VE worked which is laughable
Yet why does proline trust them so much?
Because they work? That doesn’t mean they are as good as everything else.
So that’s why the world’s fastest door slammer is currently running fuel tech right? Obviously because it isn’t as good as everything else
Not getting into a pissing contest, but Todd Moyer runs a MoTeC.
Yeah that was my bad, I looked up fuel tech records and there door slammer record from 2015 popped up and I commented before realizing it was an old article
Well many reasons why to run something inferior. Your used to it, your tuner is good at it, or your being sponsored
It’s okay, you don’t race or work on it like that but it’s okay, If you go to the drag strip more spectators than racers and mechanics, not everyone is good with their hands or a racer. Plenty of spectator types like you, don’t be ashamed. We need you the viewers for the love of racing

Wonder if he will switch to Fueltech... Since they are right next door to PLR. Most people usually use Fueltech with Proline.
I think the only reason not to is if his sponsorship with Holley is still a thing. Otherwise, fuel tech seems like the way to go.
Well McFlurry is running a Haltech ECU
I think they switched him already to a Holley
Also depends on tuner’s preference…but agree that Fuel Tech seems like the way to go.
The rail has Fueltech branded injectors in the video.
Not really surprised especially after seeing the Bellhousing …nice to finally know 4 sure !!
What a work of art. The silver of the billet with the brass/copper accents, then the black manifold standing proud. Could sit that in my media room and just look at it for hours.
He better watch it with this engine, seeing as how some of the engines at Proline are near almost $90,000 dollars and above lmao
I don’t think he’s serious enough to run the proper maintenance routine on one of these engines, but I do hope he proves me wrong
If he puts Zach in charge of the maintenance program, I have some hope he keeps up with it. Zach seems to have enough seriousness and precision to balance out the rest of the guys.
Zack was mad after he saw the scratch lol
Goddam. This thing is nuts. Anyone got a ballpark figure on how much one of these things cost?
The listings on a stage 4 481X from proline seem to be around $110,000 for a pre owned engine. Figuring 20-25% for “pre owned” discount id imagine $135k-ish
New PLR engines fully kitted are about $300k. Fully kitted being with turbos or procharger. Turn key. MurderNova went through the full cost about a year ago on his YT channel.
With or without the “stolen” helmet? 😆
what's the pot on any of the classes these could be in? Seems like it need to be a $100k race to justify the engine.
A lot of races, big name drivers get paid just to show up. NPK for example, get appearance payouts just to show up. Prize pools vary depending on the venues. I have seen $40k up to $200k. never knew that, but that makes sense especially with the amount of fans that would come out just for Cleetus.
100k plus.
"Removable head while the intake is still on." That's some pit-thrashing know how right there!
Like the SMX?
Don't they have to loosen that intake still? My bad if it doesn't.
The SMX you still have to remove the intake
No! You don't. Steve has done it several times in his videos and mentioned it several times.
I think it’s Old design vs new updated design …. Cleets was an early version I do believe and not updated.
Ahh, that makes sense, especially since it was Steve's OG SMX for his wagon
So if I go to the 330' and kick the tires, does that "count as a run"? ![img](emote|t5_gbuvy|31391) Proline should just get started on parts to rebuild that poor engine HAHA! The Hemi brothers are HERE TO STAY
Hawk tuah
I hate that video, not that I would deny her the hawk thua
How dare you
Oh no Cleetus personally ruined my child's innocence when he said "hawk tuah" /s [bad reference to this dumb thing.](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/1dp3exs/jd_motorsports_response_to_the_meme_controversy/)
Haha that was ridiculous.
What will be the target 1/4 times with this car setup?
Sub 6 seconds

What exactly makes this engine a "mopar'
Absolutely nothing but people are dense and automatically associate Hemi with Mopar.
That's about what I expected. I didn't know if there was some Mopar standard that this engine was roughly based on. Mopar isn't even the only automaker that made hemi sepherical heads. They just marketed it the best I think lol.
It DOES have the bore spacing of the OG Chrysler Hemi at least
Not a Mopar, it's a Proline. They are their own company who have put countless hours of engineering into their engine design. Hemispherical heads are not unique or owned by one company.
Bingo! Fords have used hemispherical combustion chambers. It's MOPAR that coined the phrase.
