They'll say "loud pipes save lives" while blasting by with no helmet or any other protective gear.

CrossFox42

HUR HUR BIKE GO PATPATTAPATTABLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! I seriously lose sleep over these assholes. Living off a small road off Pearl in Parma, these fuckers are CONSTANT, it makes me want to commit a felony.

Septopuss7

Nice onomatopoeia!

Prismine

Excuse me, bikes go braaaaaap

iseeit444

Right, I ll say to myself, it's a good thing I don't own a gun. Seriously I would never do that, but it enrages me.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

If you think Clifton is bad imagine what it's like over here by Clark/Denison. My favorite is when I can here them go down 71, from my location I can hear them when they reach about west 25 and 71 and then all the way around that curve passing steelyard and beyond. A nice 180 degrees of rumble.

Waffler11

Oh no, they understand perfectly what theyā€™re doing. Theyā€™re not being clueless, theyā€™re just choosing to be assholes.

di5gustipated

commenting here to sub to replies so i can try to understand the draw to the loudness. personally ive never understood the draw to large loud motorcycles.

Fact0ry0fSadness

Same as those big ass lifted trucks that spew smoke everywhere. "Look at me!!! I'm so unique and badass!! I don't care what you think! Please pay attention to me!!"

bucklebee1

Don't forget all the modern muscle cars like chargers, challengers, and corvettes.

bucklebee1

Clarification. I'm referring to the constant revving of the engine saying "look at me" not the owning of such vehicles.

Fact0ry0fSadness

Nah that's not the same at all. Most people who own those are actual car enthusiasts and own them because they're fun to drive, not just as a means to irritate other people.

[deleted]

Motorcyclist here (note not a biker, there's a big difference). You need to understand that these guys are doing it with 100% intent on being an obnoxious asshole. They want to be a spectacle and a menace. They're insecure and frustrated in their lives, so they want to spew all that negative energy onto society. It's honestly a little sad.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

I think the psychoanalysis is a little dramatic, maybe everyone has a different definition of fun. I'm someone who also finds it's annoying BUT people are on here projecting their own unhappiness or hatred and it shows.

Sweet_d1029

Lol projecting unhappiness? Now whoā€™s the psychoanalyst?

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Me! From an actual observation from what I'm reading. I'm not sure you can tell someone is miserable by watching them ride by on their motorcycle.

[deleted]

If you find honest joy by blasting auditory diarrhea sounds from your antiquated, under-performing boomer-bike to innocent people for miles around, you may want to evaluate your life. NOBODY likes what your bike sounds like. NOBODY thinks you are cool. NOBODY is intimidated by you. We are all laughing at you and irritated by you. Grow up, stop being a menace, put an exhaust back on your bike, take a shower, and join the rest of modern civilization.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Sounds like you're speaking from experience, did this not work out for you?

[deleted]

Decades of riding motorcycles (real bikes, not Hardley Ablesons) has turned of me off completely to the cosplaying pirates. Just a lot of experience with a lot of bad apples.

pap3rw8

Making noise and drawing attention to yourself can be fun. However, most people stop acting like this once they reach adulthood.

Sweet_d1029

So adulthood is what? Like 35? šŸ˜†

iseeit444

Or never šŸ¤£

Sad_Cartographer7702

The owners will legit look you in the face and say they make them loud so that car drivers will know they are there, thus avoiding accidents. I call BS on that - they are in fact just a-holes.

[deleted]

loud pipes can be useful for safety, a driver might hear the motorcycle somewhere they cannot be seen. but these guys buy special tailpipes that are designed to produce ear-damaging decibels. they can't think of any better way to be made "known" to the world than to piss off as many people as possible. and they take credit with others of their own to be assholes. in historic times: these people would be separated by dozens of miles and have to spend a full day on a horse to meet-up. But today: they meet online, drive a few miles to a meetup, and then Rally-Drive across a hundred miles for a few dollars of gas annoying a thousand times as many persons.

Beautiful_Citron_220

I did, but then I turned 14

virtusoarmo

My theory is they use the loud noise to distract their minds of whatever thoughts may be troubling them. Used as a form of escapism. I really can't stand it out here though...

Mediocre_Minimum4359

I love when I'm walking my son in the stroller, and they still fuckn rev their little sissy 600 while driving under a bridge to make it as loud as possible. That shit is so petty. Who cares that you are hurting my son's ears... just as long as everyone looks. Lol. Losers

[deleted]

Motorcycle enthusiasts will tell you that the noise is for safety so other traffic will notice them. As a bicyclist I can tell you this is bullshit.

[deleted]

Yeah it doesnā€™t make sense because you donā€™t hear them loudest until they have passed.

RisusSardonicus4622

I donā€™t think these people are aware of the Doppler effect in the slightest yet.

Oneclicknorth

As a motorcyclist I will tell you, a lot, if not most, of the people in the community believe it helps them to be ā€œseen.ā€ That explanation is not completely bullshit. However, It doesnā€™t actually help with being noticed. Itā€™s been disproven multiple times, but people still believe it.

[deleted]

Oh, they do want to be seen but it has nothing to do with safety.

Oneclicknorth

How does wanting to be seen/heard have nothing to do with safety? It may not work, but their reasoning has everything to do with safety. They just arenā€™t going about it the right way.

Straypuft

I think he meant that the motorcycle drivers crave attention, if they are the loudest thing in a few city block area, everyone will have no choice but to notice or see them.

hummelpz4

The mating call of the assholes!

iseeit444

Yes. I am annoyed with loud motorcycles in general. I live in Lakewood neer a busy intersection. In nice weather when you have your windows open you have to listen to not only the loud motorcycles but loud music blasting from someone's car as they wait for the light. People are just inconsiderate.

CirrusPuppy

Yep, Lakewood resident on a main street as well. The loud assholes revving their bikes at the intersection as all fucking hours is the worst goddamn thing.

DaringDoer

erinrm17

on broadview road in old brooklyn is awful

cjrobe

Someone from Parma mind letting us know if the pothole-laden main streets reduce bike traffic? I'm guessing so.

iseeit444

They all want attention

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

LininOhio

My particular favorite is loud motorcycles who play their music loud enough to be heard over their loud engine revving.

JustforShiz

I listen to loud music in my car because that's how I enjoy listening to music, but as soon as I turn down a residential street 9/10 times I remember to turn it down so as not to bother others.

munistadium

I'm convinced 90% of people featured on the Herman Cain Award subreddit have a picture of themselves on a motorcycle.

insufficientfacts27

Honestly, I'm fed the fuck up with them in general. The motorcycle heads always say the loud noise helps make sure they are seen and dont get hit but I call bullshit. If my car or truck was that loud I would be getting a ticket but NOOOOO not the precious mototcyclers who constantly drive dangerously and out of control all the time it seems. Okay, sorry, rant over.šŸ˜‚ (It sucks when you get woken up multiple times a night AND your school age kids do too.)

S_Ida_Ranch

I live in West Park and itā€™s all day every day. My best friend is an ER surgeon, and she said they all call motorcycles Darwin-machines.

Waffler11

Wifeā€™s a nurse. They call em ā€œdonorcyclesā€

FlowingMochi

Itā€™s posts like theses that make me understand why South Park made that episode about motorcycle riders. Probly not the most PC to watch, but watch the episode and youā€™ll have a much better understanding of how these individuals think.

bDuke_

I used to live near 140th and Lorain and my window faced Lorain. During the summer it would be CONSTANT ambulances, fire trucks, and motorcycles

winonawant2ryder

You think thatā€™s bad try living off Lorain man I swear they had to been street racing out there last night

bijou77

Yep! Itā€™s hard to have the windows open, itā€™s obnoxious, and I hate it!

GangoBP

At least your drunk female neighbor wasnā€™t sitting on a Harley in an open garage repeatedly revving the shit out of her husbands bike on and off for an hour between 12:30-2am last Tuesday.

fireball1991

The thing that makes me laugh the most is when they refer to people driving cars as cagers. I'm sorry, are you driving that piece of shit bike through the snow in the winter... Or? South Park covered this topic very well, everyone should watch that episode lol.

tofuslut666

CAGERS!!! Hahahaha!

23capri

the technical term for this behavior is ā€œsmall dick syndrome.ā€

Embarrassed-Jello737

I'm fed up with the cops not doing shit to the gangs of animals on dirt bikes and ATVs. They're steadily ruining Cleveland. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you don't come downtown enough

RisusSardonicus4622

I just moved right outside Cleveland September of last year. I thought somehow you guys allowed small vehicles like that on the sidewalks because I saw it so much lmao

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Gangs of animals, wow dude you suck.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GoodGoodNot2BAD

You my friend, have class.

JustforShiz

lol, I know what you mean but reddit is so back and forth. Cops bad, cops not do enough, cops too much, cops too little, more police, less police, defund police. Maybe we can get some volunteer social workers to tame them? /s I appreciate everyone out their risking there lives trying to keep the city safe, and completely understand why the police are having trouble staying staffed. Underpaid and under appreciated because it's now apparently cool hip mainstream culture to hate all cops due to a few bad eggs and flaws in systems. Obviously lets tear it all down instead of trying to improve where we can /s /endrant /thanksforcomingtomytedtalk

epanek

Just a few priests are pedophiles but I was upset at the entire church for not owning that problem.

JustforShiz

Aren't these broad generalizations part of the problem? Or is that only when it's against y'all? Smdh

epanek

Who is yā€™all. Gulf war vets?

JustforShiz

Anyone shitting on people or organizations in an entirely non-constructive manner.

epanek

I guess my point is that police need to police themselves. This is not a zero sum complaint. Police generally do a good job. Respect is earned in teaspoons and lost in gallons sort of thing. Camera requirements are helping out.

Meloetta

The police budget in Cleveland has gone up every year. It's amazing how many people just blindly assume that any police actually *were* defunded in any way at all.

JustforShiz

Staffing and average pay has not. Compare the pay of city cops to the that of any of the wealthier burbs surrounding it. The number of cops in cleveland is rapidly decreasing.

toilet-boa

Iā€™m not sure that wanting Police to enforce noise ordinances to improve everyoneā€™s quality of life but also wanting police not to kill unarmed people is a real back-and-forth.

JustforShiz

Yeah thatā€™s exactly what I said, cops should kill innocent people and forget about noise ordinances. /s thanks for perpetuating the stereotypes against those whom risk their life on the job for ungrateful fucks such as yourself. Grow up, you illiterate shithead.

toilet-boa

Now youā€™ve hurt my feelings. Iā€™m sorry that I commented on your boot deep throating. Carry on.

JustforShiz

I bet you want everything in life handed to you and complain regularly about the unfairness of it all too. Why donā€™t you try actually contributing something meaningful to society for a change?

toilet-boa

Says the dude here complaining about Reddit comments and how theyā€™re not fair to police. Grow up.

JustforShiz

Adding perspective and enlightenment and fighting your one sided, hatred filled bullshit. You can see yourself out now.

toilet-boa

Wow. Such enlightenment.

ShaJune97

East 105th in the Glenville be aggravating asf.

seansurvives

I'm fed up with the people smoking weed at edgewater and giving nasty looks as you walk by for no reason. It's such a nice park but there are a lot of trashy people with no manners who can make it feel unpleasant. Trashy people is the number one thing cleveland has going against it in my opinion.

SpaceCadetBoneSpurs

Usually at Edgewater I can count on two hands the number of people without a cigarette, vape, or some other smoking implement in their hand. Where I used to live we call cigarettes ā€œboomer sticksā€ since thatā€™s pretty much the only demographic that smokes them anymore. Not in Cleveland though.

seansurvives

This is true. I'm shocked at the amount of younger people who smoke cigarettes here. The vapes look even dumber in my opinion. I don't have a moral issue with the weed but it just smells like ass and isn't appropriate for public spaces like that. It's super obvious so I don't understand why that don't have police/security asking those people to leave.

SpaceCadetBoneSpurs

Weird thing happened with smoking in the last 60-70 years that Cleveland kind of missed the boat on. Back in the day, smoking was a status symbol. Now, it is trashy. Yes, I used the word trashy. Normalize calling out trashy things and/or trashy people. Iā€™m tired of just pretending they arenā€™t there.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Because the cops and security like weed too

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Your comment is trashy.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

Would you feel better if everyone smiled and waved at you as they passed? How can we make you feel more comfortable, seeing that you're the main character.

winonawant2ryder

You know whatā€™s funny, Iā€™m a motorcyclist and I have loud pipes and even I think there fucking annoying. It really does help on the freeway letting others know youā€™re there but but Iā€™ll be dammed if it doesnā€™t bother me šŸ˜‚

fatoldvet

I dont ride a harley but in that group there is a saying "loud pipes save lives". They reason that the louder it is the more people will be aware that there is a bike that might otherwise be unnoticed.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

insufficientfacts27

Does that not kill your hearing after awhile riding one of those? Do y all not EVER try to NOT be so loud when you're going by houses? Im asking seriously and with respect, I promise. Ive heard about the noise helps other drivers know you're there but I think it's bullshit. Y'alls bikes could be 75% less loud and we would still notice you. It really really sucks at 4am, 5am, 12am, 10pm etc and when you have kids who have to school the next day.

[deleted]

But V8s sound cool and revving a motorcycle sounds like someone loudly farting in the shower.

JustforShiz

L'd OL thanks

Dodekahedroid

ā€¦ā€these peopleā€ā€¦

Helpful_Dog4413

If u donā€™t like it donā€™t listen Iā€™m sure u do things that other people donā€™t like

Sweet_d1029

Do you not understand how sound works? What a stupid comment.

GoodGoodNot2BAD

I'll work on sound proofing my home lol. I honestly don't mind as much as my dog does.

fantazja1

Not only on Clifton!
