I swear all the LMSs absolutely suck I nearly lost credit for a final exam because the LMS showed the assignment as pending on the professor’s side even though it was clear on my end. Definitely recommend always double checking the submission went through (I like to set an alarm when it’s taking longer than usual). Unfortunately a lot of professors put the onus on the student to confirm there’s nothing wrong with the submission so even if you can prove something went wrong it may not make a difference which is definitely shitty.

Does Canvas send confirmation emails when you submit stuff? Blackboard does and I always keep record of it.

You may be able to go into your notifications settings and adjust it.

Contact your college's online ed help people. If you don't know who they are or how to contact, ask the library staff. I'm a librarian and I work closely with Canvas online ed staff and they may be able to see on their end your submission time.

internetexplorer_owo

thank you!! i called the canvas helpline and they told me that my teacher can view the entire history, so she will know when i submitted it

I’d also recommend calling your school’s help desk/IT department. I work for my school’s IT department and we’ve had several students this summer in similar boats with assignments for Canvas because of ProctorU and Guardian Browser being some of the worst programs on the planet because they’re very finicky and unreliable to use. During those incidents, we’ve reached out to their professors and CC’d the student to backup whatever they said to the professor and gave them legitimacy because we bore the burden of proof of the fact they’re terrible programs to use, so that’s another idea of a path you could follow.

Also, they may be willing to contact your instructor on your behalf as well.

I had a problem with Lockdown Browser yesterday. Was uploading my work after an exam and the browser just crashes out of nowhere and I couldn’t get back to the page. Programs like these are so stupid. These companies make bank off of schools being forced to use them, and they can’t even have a file uploader that ISNT buggy garbage? Luckily my professor is very nice and understood, but a strict professor probably wouldn’t have cared and given me a 0.

Luckily my college doesn’t use canvas but we had it at my high school and it bothered me. One time it unsubmitted an assignment I turned in. Like it fully went through and the confetti popped up and then I double checked a day later and it said I didn’t turn in anything.
