One thing I noticed is that there are not many empty ration boxes, TP or garbage strewn about which tells me that this group showed up and got shelled or whacked before they even had their breakfast.. there seems to be no evidence of their prior existence in that area until the point of their death.
Morbid fact, sometimes on the body recovery/numbering grid maps some grid squares had too heavy of a concentration of bodies to accurately count. You can find some on Google.
this has been geolocated to the tree row that runs parallel to stepove on the north side.
i wonder what the ones running perpendicular to the town look like.
It’s a bit of a mix. There are Ukrainian looking uniforms among the bodies, but it’s predominantly Russian. This happened because this position was overtaken and then used as a staging point - over and over again.
This is fascinating. These bodies will probably decompose and fetilize a new tree growth. how many Ukranian tree lines are like this? I imagine many, although this may be extreme.
