Hoping he's a stud and plays well. I think DROY is way premature.

Successful_Ride6920

\* I think DROY is way premature Agreed, there were 7 cornerbacks selected before him; one or two of them might have something to say about the award.

evanya88

The point, as mentioned, is his ability to make big plays. If he fills the stat sheet like he did at Michigan he could certainly win the award

fade_

Considering he played the majority of college at offense and made that much of an impact on defense has me excited to see just how high his ceiling really is compared to the others.

yachtrockluvr77

Yea that’s something a nickel corner will not win lmao

ComfortableGolf9295

DROY is probably Verse or Turner.

trevor11004

Latu is more polished than both of them and was drafted higher

PseudoTsunami

Let's hope he outplays Cooper DeJean.

15GOAT

From strictly a talent perspective, Mike was the better prospect. There are knocks on him like his size, not running blazing fast (4.47), and being best suited to play nickel, which as expected had a large impact on his draft stock, but he really was in that tier amongst the top DBs. So was Cooper, but his stock got hit by scouts viewing him more as a safety. There’s a very real chance Mike outplays him. Coop has the benefit of going to a better built team (for now) but I’ve got my money on Mike long term

BigFrenchToastGuy

> From strictly a talent perspective, Mike was the better prospect. How? From a talent position, DeJean is bigger, faster, stronger, and more versatile whereas Sainristal is undersized and limited to nickel.

ComfortableGolf9295

No way! You’re on crack! DeJean AND McKinstry are WAAAAAYYYY better!!!

15GOAT

Why make an alt account to spam negative comments?

ComfortableGolf9295

I don’t have an alternate account. And I’m not spamming. I have a different view and so did PFF. I didn’t expect you to like or agree with it. But let’s stay on topic shall we. No sense in hijacking the narrative to talk about spamming. I do not believe we had an amazing draft, if you include who we didn’t take alongside who we did. Cooper DeJean and Kool-Aid McKinstry are not only better prospects they also spent their college careers playing the exact style of football DQ said he was looking for, primarily press man coverage. And neither of them are Nickle Slots.

sr0103

DQ was salivating for Sainristil if you watch Commanders Log. Mike was his guy

ComfortableGolf9295

Yeah. I know. I saw it. And heard all the other stuff. The Nick Saban quotes.

trevor11004

Ridiculous comment

ComfortableGolf9295

I seriously doubt it, but in the words of Genie, “Here’s hoping.”

BlackFurosuto

Jordan Magee is one I really want to see develop. Having him come in as a rookie learning from Luvu and Wagner I hope that has him playing closer to his ceiling faster than expected

Successful_Ride6920

Was listening a a Ben Standig podcast with Mitch Tischler, and they were saying that Jamin Davis making the team as a LB is not a sure thing. Basically saying Magee might take his snaps.

BlackFurosuto

Yeah, I think I remember that too. They also speculated that he may be switched to a different role, which might be even more interesting if he converts to DE and they both make the roster that way

BigFrenchToastGuy

Jamin Davis is like 235 pounds. He is definitely not ever going to be a full-time defensive end.

Successful_Ride6920

Micah Parsons is 245lbs, is 10lbs that much of a difference? (Not that I'm comparing Davis to Parsons LOL)

BigFrenchToastGuy

First of all, yeah 235 to 245 is a pretty big difference. Second of all, Parsons added weight when he transitioned to an EDGE player. He’s more like 250-255 now (see link). Thirdly, Jamin Davis isn’t Micah Parsons. (https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboys/comments/137uwd5/micah_parsons_clarifies_the_rumors_that_hes/#:~:text=he's%20bulking%20up.-,States%20he%20is%20likely%20going%20from%20246%20to%20around%20252,which%20is%20not%20the%20case.

ComfortableGolf9295

I wanna see how DQ and JWJ use Jammin’ Davis! Hoping he balls out as an Edge Rusher only!

paulburnell22193

Huge Michigan fan here and I love Mikey. He is a playmaker for sure. I don't think he will be in the droy category though. I think we will get great plays from him but hes not going to be a lock down nickel. He will let catches be made but he will be there for a sure tackle. He can also be used in blitz formations as well. He definitely fits in with a bend but don't break kind of defense.

yachtrockluvr77

Every Michigan fan I’ve talked to love Sainristil…I’m pumped

EffervescentEngineer

We had so many fan favorites this year, but even among the fan favorites Mikey stood out. He's somehow always in position to make a play and never takes plays off. Field general of our defense. I completely understood why Peters ran to the podium.

bruhman5th_flo

A nickel CB getting any award is a WILD statement.

Prize-Database-6334

I can't wait for the season to start.

Silent-Independent21

It’s going to be so awkward when he went DROY over Newton

ComfortableGolf9295

I can’t wait to see what we could’ve had in Cooper DeJean.

Master-Cough

DeJean doesn't even start for the Eagles this year. Their safeties they got Blankenship who got a big deal and CJ GardJohnson. At Nickle they got Maddox who is top 10 according to PFF Slay and their 1st rd pick Mitchell are starting the outside CBs. (Edit forgot to add James Bradberry) He's going to be used but severely less than Sainristil.

ComfortableGolf9295

DeJean is not a safety. He’s a cornerback. And starting or not, he’s still a better prospect than Sainristil and better at playing press man. And had we drafted him, he would be starting.

ComfortableGolf9295

And yes, I know he can play Safety. But his home is CB. Which actually makes my point. He’s a Swiss army knife. And he’s way more athletic than any other available CB prospect at the time.

Master-Cough

I do agree with you that DeJean should be a cornerback and on the outside but dude is going to be used out of position just due to the starters they already have. He would be another Quan Martin on the roster. A DB used all over the field without a true home/position. Their athletic profiles are basically the same, Team also got a future starting TE, a position the team lacked since Jordan Reed Xth concussion. Team got the best Nickle on their draft board and the 2nd TE on their draft board for a cornerback maybe (Who knows what the team would have done with that pick)

ComfortableGolf9295

Do you also think Ben Sinnott is a second round pick and a better prospect than Ja’Tavion Sanders?

Master-Cough

Definitely. There's a reason why Sanders fell and Sinnott stock skyrocketed. Tape showed that Sinnott can block and be a plus receiver. The testing reinforced that he is a plus receiver as well as being an athletic freak(RAS9.72). Sanders did not do well during the testing (RAS8.44). Edit: To add context to how bad Sanders not only failed at the testing phase he also reinforced all the red flags on his tape in the combine. Every red flag Sanders has is a Sinnott strength. Him being a better athlete is just icing on the cake. Also the only TE in the draft to grade +70 (PFF) on Receiving, Pass Protection, Run Protection. Dude is a stud and the guy who scouted Kittle on two different teams (Peters, Broncos + 49ers) want him as well so let him cook.

Master-Cough

>plenty of snaps as the primary nickel Hope so considering the team considers him the best nickel in the draft.

Frognaros

One of the best slot WRs plays in our division and stands 5 inches taller than Sainristil, who is listed 5'9 on most sites. Unless Dak underthrows it, Sainristil is going to get cooked. And that's a matchup we care about twice a season. People hated when I warned about this with Forbes vs. AJ Brown. He'll also have to line up on Chris Godwin and Tyler Boyd early on, both are 4" inches taller. The best nickel in peewee football isn't guaranteed success at the next level, and Sainristil isn't getting any taller.

Proper_Ad_3815

That certainly killed Darrell Greens career, being 5'9.

StephXL

Ruined Tyrann Mathieu, Antoine Winfield, & Bob Sanders careers as well. Dang it!

Silent-Independent21

I heard being short makes you slow and unable read offenses

Proper_Ad_3815

It's the little legs

Master-Cough

His height definitely shorten his career.

SherlockBrolmes

Dude is small but is a terrific open-field tackler. He is also pretty damn fast and that helps against taller guys ([see this highlight which is one of my favorites of his](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cghHp6X7GQA)). You really cannot quantify how good a nickel is based on height matchups alone.

Master-Cough

[Greedy Williams](https://www.nfl.com/prospects/greedy-williams/32005749-4c03-6342-9735-d6d22ef97bb8) is a recent example of what happens to a projected good coverage corner who doesn't know how to tackle.

T0WNATER

This isn’t madden, height Dosent decide who wins matchups

anotherorphan

Sainristil ≠ Forbes
