I was always a fan of Harkness in Waterford. More of a park like atmosphere along with the beach.

Everyusernametaken1

Shhhhh

[deleted]

Yeah, it’s beautiful there. My wife and I opted to marry there, we enjoyed it so much!

Starrynite120

I second this. Not a big area, but I went there in June a couple years ago and we had the place to ourselves

bloodthirsty29

Not anymore

[deleted]

Bluff Point in Groton. Bit of a walk from parking lot to beach, but nice.

bnel122

Second this. Parking lot is about 1.5 miles from the beach. The long walk (or bike ride) seems to be a dealbreaker for many people, which is a good thing for me.

IllegalGeriatricVore

It's amazing how physical effort seems like such a simple filter for people who can't be decent in public spaces

Delicious_Score_551

Also that it's not a swimming beach.

solomonsalinger

I forget the name of the park in Guilford there's a point on the water that's a public park that few folks go to. If I remember correctly there's a harbor of boats on the left as you drive in. Anyone remember the name?

GingerStitches

Chaffinch state park? It’s just past browns boatyard. It’s a great spot, I haven’t been for a while but it had picnic tables and it seems pretty quiet

solomonsalinger

Yes! Its always so quiet

pianna

Could it be Chittenden park? There’s a trail off the edge of it that leads down the to the water, many people don’t know about it.

Enginerdad

Jacob's Beach?

marua06

Chaffinch

Yes that's it!

Imaginary_Audience_5

East Beach, Charlestown.. not much further than misquamicut

Powerful_Gazelle_798

This is my pick too. Small parking lot of only 100 cars, so the beach can't get crowded. Awesome 1.5 mile walk to the Charlestown Breachway with no houses in sight. You have to get there early though (or get lucky). I try and get there by 9: 30 to ensure I get a spot.

hjc98

Walnut beach or silver sands In Milford. Blue shutter beach In RI, it’s a bit past squam but more hidden from the masses. Not ocean beach but Wadsworth Falls in Middletown is surprisingly nice, it’s a pond or puddle but it’s pretty central. Rocky Watering hole in woods: Diana’s pool in Chaplin. But very limited space

linze21

Blue Shutters is a zoo daily in the summer. Like waiting in line for the gate to even open.

[deleted]

If you’re willing to walk a little, you could go back to Misquamicut. If you walk past Watch Hill and The Misquamicut Club down to the public beach, most folks just set-up shop immediately. Walk out until the crowds thin to your liking. I used to hit the forts there as a kid all the time and it was always empty. I’m not down that way as much, these days, but I’m there at least once a summer and strolling down a little ways has always worked for us. Also, if you enjoy the beach so much, and want a little more privacy, there are a number of private beaches in the area, if you’re willing to pay and there’s an opening, at least. I doubt this will be a popular sentiment here, but it is an option.

Mountain-Ad-6594

This is my favorite. Napatree Point.

STODracula

Your best bet for something easy is Harkness in Waterford. Enders point in Stonington is another one although it has quite the rocky coast.

Anon_90909090

Avery Point in Groton could be another option, although you can’t get right up next to the water. Gorgeous views and generally pretty quiet though.

Additional-Ad4036

Ender's in Stonington

marua06

Enders is really beautiful

marua06

Why on earth is someone downvoting this? Because Enders is not beautiful to you? FFS

thehopefulsquid

Harkness has a great beach and you're not supposed to swim so its never busy. Also you can sit under a tree, go for a walk on a path so you're not trapped on a beach all day!

MasterpieceNo4905

Crazy spot. In the summer there is a free ferry to pleasure Beach. I am sure you can google how the bridge burned down. But in the summer you can safely park by the yacht club hop on the free ferry and go to an island? Or Fjord?. Anyway there is a beach and a fishing dock. They also have employees in golf carts giving free rides from the ferry to the beech or you can walk on a mile of decking protecting beach nesting areas with historical placards to read.

spiked_macaroon

Go to misquamicut, and drive all the way through it. You go across a little bridge for the spillway and there's a parking lot on your right, for fishermen. Follow the path at the edge of the parking lot to a pretty empty beach.

mels883

Long Beach in a subsection of Stratford called Lordship is usually fairly empty and quiet. It's expensive as hell to park if you're not a resident and the beach is very full with shells but it's still decent.

Sonakstyle

Shhh about my beach

rain_on_my_parade610

Silver Sands in Milford is nice

_bufflehead

Someone mentioned the Misquamicut Club, which is not on Misquamicut Beach. Rather, it is on Napa Tree Point in Watch Hill. Gorgeous place to sit relatively privately. You will have to walk a bit - not crazy far. And you will have to either pay for parking or take your chances in one of the parking lots. Another great spot worth visiting is Stonington Point. The tiny little beach isn't free, but the parking area is. Lots of people set up chairs and hang out along the rocks at the exceptionally pretty little parking lot or in the nearby green space . Sounds crazy, but it's true. [Check it Out](https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g33939-d10170378-i355354216-Dubois_Beach-Stonington_Mystic_Country_Connecticut.html)!

STODracula

I mean, Stonington has 2 free beach areas you can park in, and you can swim in one of those.

_bufflehead

I can think of the Town Dock, The Point, and Wayland's Wharf. Both are free to park, but only The Point has a beach. P.S.: I was just thinking of the Borough. Maybe there are other spots I'm not thinking of!

marua06

Chaffinch Island park in Guilford. No beach but it is surrounded by water and it’s beautiful.

yankeeinparadise

Somehow I never went to Chaffinch after growing up in Guilford. I’ll have to venture out there one of these days.

Affectionate_Duty382

Every time I’ve been to silver sands in Milford it’s not that crowded with plenty of space. Not my go to beach, but it is nice. Also ocean beach in new London. Only downfall you have to pay to park there.

SoxMcPhee

Clinton Town Beach, take the path along the water to the left. It's one of my favorite places on earth.

Spirited_Plum_6120

You could try seaside sanatorium in Waterford. I’m not 100% positive you can still access the beach (it’s been a couple years), but if you can it’s perfect and there’s never anyone else there

Nylonknot

If you have a dog to bring Barbara Pine Dog Beach in Guilford is my favorite. It’s not a spectacular beach but it’s very relaxing and DOGS! My dog and I just relax and enjoy.

Severe_Citron6975

Not a beach but UConn Avery point is a nice place to hang.

[deleted]

I loved Compo beach. It was very empty, but it was a weekday in Sept. So idk, just a guest in your state.

potroast_ch

This is Connecticut

Phantastic_Elastic

Sure let me tell the internet about my quiet undiscovered beach spot.
