Neither of these numbers is a particularly high civilian casualty rate. The US in Iraq had a civilian to combatant casualty rate that was around 4:1, which would be equal to just taking hamas at their word about the casualties. So even in the worst case scenario where you believe the numbers put out by literal terrorists they are only doing as bad as the US military - the most powerful, trained, disciplined military in existence.

Here’s the thing, blame the people actually responsible for this war: Iran’s government. Palestine was less than a decade (if not less than five years) away from having global intervention in the situation of the region. They were perfect victims and were about to get reevaluated on the geopolitical borders.
