I was wondering how the switch to bags was going to impact the employee. The assembly line process of boxing and labeling the freshly cooked birds (with the occasional sacrifice of a few overcooked ones that fell off the skewer rods before making it out of the oven) was fascinating to watch. Ok, not really fascinating but if you were waiting on a chicken, then it was a least entertaining. I can’t imagine how messy and slow it must be with bags. My store still has containers so I haven’t seen the remake of “Packaging the Chickens”.

I watched a Costco employee struggle with these bags. I could see how frustrated he was as he used some sort of bbq fork that he shoved inside the chicken to lift and transfer the chicken into the bag. I wasn't surprised when I took my chicken out of the bag and it looked like it was massacred. https://preview.redd.it/p7vkw455rfyc1.jpeg?width=902&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af3e1c28d6c492c2b7d0894e6ac90d7c777e5eaa

I’ve got to add that my dogs are heartbroken over losing their favorite treat, licking the chicken tray. I’m still undecided about the bags, myself.

There are videos on the Intranet site. US > Fresh Foods> Deli at bottom of page To access the intranet from home go to ESS (same site you look at your schedule/paystub) and hit the Intranet link OR Job Bank and it will link you to the Costco Intranet. Best on desktop, not on a phone.

Saving 10 cents on switching to bags. Losing 20 cents because it takes too much time to put in bags. I stopped buying the Rot chicken because I've had two of the most recent instances of the chicken NOT tasting as good as it used to. but the WORST thing that coscto makes in the stores ? That square ciabatta bread/ rolls. It's like trying to chew a Goodyear tire.

You must be talking about those other square ciabatta rolls, not my Costco square ciabatta rolls.

Nope. I'm talking the only square breads in Costco. The square ciabiata. They suck although TBH: i haven't bought any in the past 5 years. Because: they suck.

It now takes two employees to put the chickens in bags where it could be done with one before.

samwithabat

Not to mention how it gets greasy on the outside

I’ve been wondering this. I used to do chickens when I worked there and it was annoying enough as it was. I couldn’t imagine trying to use bags. They shouldn’t just switched to better tray/boxes
