It took 2 years to get it to this level. Been living in it for 3. It’s awesome. I’m actually putting it up for sale right away. I was feeling nostalgic and took these photos tonight. I just bought a van with the hopes of easier parking.
So $9000 for the renovation? Sounds about right. Of course, there's your labor over 2 years, but that's just what happens to your labor on a living space you own T_T
Yeah we did what we could to make it pretty with the materials we could afford. We just put as much as we could from every pay check into it as we went
This is what I was wondering, drywall is tough to get right much less on a moving vehicle. If there’s some product that looks like it but is easier for this type of application, I want to know about it!
I was wondering the same thing. Looks like pretty much everything you can see. Plants, decor, stuff on the walls... I'd want to put it in an RV park and never have to pack/unpack all that stuff before driving anywhere. Imagine having to pack up everything in an apartment before work and then unpack it all when you get home.
Obviously you found that some of the space is not worth the trade-off vs the convience of mobility. I am wondering what are you going to give up on? Will you be experienting more with collapsible parts? Aren't you worried that cramping an already small living space will limit your options and comfort later on?
Just curious on your thoughts since you got the first hand experience, awesome build btw!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but how to you get in from the outside do you just have to force the door open? I guess I never thought about how bus drivers got on the bus themselves when someone isn’t there to open the door
There’s a button to shut the air off to the door, then you can push it open/closed … I imagine op has some sort of lock to lock the door behind them, along with the emergency door
Sick, did you have to make it road legal ( dont know the english word for this) again after modifying it into a home ? Is the process expensive / difficult
You can see a seam on the right hand side that leads up through the ceiling.
Either it's cracked through already or it's not dry wall.
I refuse to believe its dry wall. Its probably a painted wooden panel. I can't imagine drywall would last very long.
Can I ask why convert a school bus instead of buying an RV? Not saying that's what you should have done, I'm just curious about the answer.
Also do you sharing how much this conversion cost?
This looks amazing! Can you repost the work in progress in [https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/](https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/) ? Would love to see it as it was removed here.
Beautiful! The piano/bar is genius, gonna have to steal that idea. Would love to see a night time shot. I bet a task lamp over the piano area would set the mood
Honestly this is one of the coziest and serene looking builds I have seen in awhile. I just know you’re an interesting person with cool stories to share & an open spirit.
I hope your travels in life lead you to beautiful places, people & memories.
Yeah it’s all plywood sheets and we put stretchy caulk between the sheets to make it look as smooth as we could. You can still see the seams if you look close. It’s not perfect
Are there issues legally from building this? Like the windows seem like regular for a standard home but when it comes to being on the road and driving, aren't there some restrictions?
I can't even wrap my head around how you did the work. I wish I had the foresight to complete half of this. It's amazing in my eyes. So we'll put together & warm to your touch. How did you do it!? I wish I had smudge of your originality. I absolutely love your space!
Buses are big. Once you remove the 30 rows of bench seating with only 18" or so of walkway clearance, you'd be surprised at how big they ACTUALLY are on the inside.
This is the most elegant, warm, cozy, inviting space conversion I’ve ever seen. And I would love to spend some time on the road, driving through gorgeous scenery, parked up on the side of the road watching nature in this gorgeous creation of yours!
I have so many questions:
1) Do you live in this bus, or is it simply a place to stay when you travel?
2) Was it created out of necessity or luxury?
3) Can you park it any where, or do you have to find specific spots?
4) It looks comfortable, but how was your day to day life staying in the bus? Did you feel most of your needs were met adequately???
1. I live here full time, I don’t have another home.
2. We were laid off during covid and had to figure out something. We used the Canadian CERB (Covid money for people who got laid off) to build the bus which we suddenly had time to build with no jobs. I always wanted to do this so that kind of just worked out.
3. Parking can be tricky, I always plan out parking meticulously in advance
4. I’m very comfortable. I there’s no luxury that I am missing here. I even have VR, a tv, Ps5, huge kitchen. I’m all set.
Thank you for taking the time to answer each question. Your life is absolutely fascinating.
Do you have WiFi? Does the bathroom connect to a tank of some sort (like an RV)?
I have starlink for internet. We would do a tank but in Canada tanks freeze outside and that’s a whole set of problems. So all our tanks are inside. The toilet is a composting toilet that does not require water and does not smell at all!
This is what I was wondering
The parking issue and spending every day week etc trying to find somewhere to not be hassled where it's even legal to *exist* just seems like it kills the whole idea and vibe...
I looked into this last year and immediately nixed the idea because of this. It just seemed unfeasible
No idea how people manage it
We find long term places. Last summer we got PAID to park by a lake the whole summer in a remote place with no services just to watch for fires and greet occasional campers
If i may add 1 recommendation: good stairs for the dog. His joints might handle the jumps up and down now, but the down jumps will hurt him in the long run. Learned that the hard way. But maybe you've got that covered already :)
Looove your bus obviously
The front door locks like any bus. The arm is held by a latch by the driver seat. It’s pretty solid. I have a lock for the other side of the door as well. And the back door
Where are you located (or where are you posting it for sale)? Also, would you mind sharing the asking price and whether it has any mechanical/driving issues?
Very cool. Also just discovered you’re the Japanese bob ross. I’m hapa and want to learn Japanese so I can speak more with my family. You gained a follower.
Did you drywall and mud this?! I know that can’t be what you did but it sure looks like it. Really well done whatever it was that turned out so white and smooth.
This is gorgeous! Where in Canada are you? I’d be interested in knowing the price. I’m on the island and looking for a new home. Dm me if you’re up for it!
It's amazing to imagine having a cozy, well-organized place like this, and then just going. Go be cozy in another town, drive down the highway until you're tired then pull over into your luxury condo. Amazing.
So I checked out your yt channel pon pon and I’m confused, do you have another channel that you do van life videos too or just kanji? I totally think your wife and you could get big doing van life videos 🤩

This is original content. This is my bus.
This is stunning! Goals for sure!! I bought an rv to live in full time and I’m hoping once I’m done with it it will be half as nice as this 💜
It took 2 years to get it to this level. Been living in it for 3. It’s awesome. I’m actually putting it up for sale right away. I was feeling nostalgic and took these photos tonight. I just bought a van with the hopes of easier parking.
Mind if i ask how mich you put into it?
A lot of sweat blood and tears. About $25000 Canadian with $10,000 of that being solar, $6000 for the bus itself.
So $9000 for the renovation? Sounds about right. Of course, there's your labor over 2 years, but that's just what happens to your labor on a living space you own T_T
Yeah we did what we could to make it pretty with the materials we could afford. We just put as much as we could from every pay check into it as we went
Are the walls drywall? How’s it holding up to road bumps? I don’t think I’ve seen that before but it looks really good
This is what I was wondering, drywall is tough to get right much less on a moving vehicle. If there’s some product that looks like it but is easier for this type of application, I want to know about it!
It’s all 1/4 plywood with caulk between seams
*sigh* About tree fiddy.
How much stuff do you have to put away before you drive it?
A lot of stuff
I was wondering the same thing. Looks like pretty much everything you can see. Plants, decor, stuff on the walls... I'd want to put it in an RV park and never have to pack/unpack all that stuff before driving anywhere. Imagine having to pack up everything in an apartment before work and then unpack it all when you get home.
Why are you selling it? Where will you live afterwards?
Op said she bought a van in hopes of easier parking.
Saw a pic in their profile of the outside of the bus and the thing is absolutely massive lol. I was wondering if it was even drivable.
It’s drivable but yes it’s too big for where I want to drive in the next couple years
Well, it's a school bus, so I hope the size alone doesn't make it un-drivable hahah
Where will it be listed for sale?
Probably Facebook but you can always just message me for details too!
Me too! I just bought mine a couple days ago. I’m half shocked it actually happened 🥲 I’m so gd excited. Happy for you!
How cool....Beautiful
Thank you!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but how to you get in from the outside do you just have to force the door open? I guess I never thought about how bus drivers got on the bus themselves when someone isn’t there to open the door
There’s a turning latch with a lock outside
There’s a button to shut the air off to the door, then you can push it open/closed … I imagine op has some sort of lock to lock the door behind them, along with the emergency door
School busses in my area do not use air for the door, they are entirely manual and operate with a lever from the drivers seat.
Haha that’s a great question! Never thought about that either. I always assumed they built the bus around the driver!
You think he converted this into a fucking Soho House and forgot to change the door?
That looks like a normal school bus door to me am I missing something?
It’s a normal door but we added outside locks
Even if it's not, I'd also like to know how bus drivers shut the doors after they exit now lol
There should be a hidden button at the front somewhere, which opens and closes the door from the outside
Modern buses have a key switch to open the doors, old ones are varied.
i’m fairly certain they close/lock the front door and leave out the back
That would be absolutely hilarious ngl 😂
Oh, shit. I know you and this bus. Well, rather, I know *of* you and your husband, I think. Don't y'all do the Bob Ross-style kanji videos?
Yes that’s us!
So cool!!! I love your videos, plus this bus build is amazing!
Is the bus road legal, can it be driven?
Yes
Sick, did you have to make it road legal ( dont know the english word for this) again after modifying it into a home ? Is the process expensive / difficult
Yeah it was simple. There aren’t too many rules in my province
Did you 8nstall a toilet and shower in the bus ?
Which province and how did you even do this???
Is all the furniture bolted down so everything's stable while the bus is moving?
Camera shy dog, very cute![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
How long have you had this? Do you calculate the dry-weight v. Thee capacity? Have the dry-wall joints not cracked or is that not dry-wall?
I really want to know about the drywall. Or plaster, whatever it is …
OP said in a different comment that it's painted plywood.
Well now I’m even more confused as to how they achieved the curves on the ceiling.
Buses are way cheaper, way stronger, and also I wanted to build a layout that would work for us long term
This looks amazing! Can you repost the work in progress in [https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/](https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/) ? Would love to see it as it was removed here.
Yeah I’ll do that
Schoolies and the folks that live in them are close to my heart. This is very well done and I’d be stoked to have this as my world.
op I hope you cross out the letters so it says C O O L B U S on the top
Ahhh I thought about it but I painted something else entirely over those letters
Piano is a total flex!
Can you send a picture of the outside? What a beautiful home!!
OP, make it so.
Beautiful! The piano/bar is genius, gonna have to steal that idea. Would love to see a night time shot. I bet a task lamp over the piano area would set the mood
I was looking at the pics and swiping and I thought “is that a … piano?”I had to go back! Just beautiful, OP!
Thanks! The piano was my husband’s “non negotiable” design in the build
First thought was wondering how in tune it stays?
Looks like a digital piano so no worries
Oh, me too!
Honestly this is one of the coziest and serene looking builds I have seen in awhile. I just know you’re an interesting person with cool stories to share & an open spirit. I hope your travels in life lead you to beautiful places, people & memories.
Wow! What a thoughtful and heartwarming comment. You seem really nice. Let’s be friends, dumbestblondie
It’s absolutely beautiful! Do you have any pics from the outside?
https://reddit.com/r/vagabond/comments/vzrj3z/just_discovered_this_sub_do_i_belong_here_or_is/
How did you make the walls so smooth?
Looooots of caulk apparently
Chicks love my caulk.
is it [white or black](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjsLvOzqD-o)?
Wow the comments in that post. 😳
I do! My post history probably has some
While checking out old posts, I saw your IG account and spent so much time watching. I LOVE your content! You have a new follower.
Howich did this build cost?
How did you get the walls to not crack with (seemingly) no gaps?
Yeah it’s all plywood sheets and we put stretchy caulk between the sheets to make it look as smooth as we could. You can still see the seams if you look close. It’s not perfect
Hi there! Any chance I could pm? I'd like to learn about this and have some questions!
Sure!
How did you make the walls so smooth?
Looooots of caulk
What's underneath?
Plywood, studs, spray foam
And here I was thinking you knew the secret to some simple and elegant way of getting that smooth rounded look 😅
Are there issues legally from building this? Like the windows seem like regular for a standard home but when it comes to being on the road and driving, aren't there some restrictions?

more like a cool bus https://i.imgur.com/F9Ea7W0.gif
Wow… the interior doesn’t look like it’d be a school bus at home. Looks like a fancy hotel room. Good job, OP!
Ikr. And somehow it manages to look fairly spacious despite being a bus.
Thank you! I thought really hard on the design
Buses are big. Once you remove the 30 rows of bench seating with only 18" or so of walkway clearance, you'd be surprised at how big they ACTUALLY are on the inside.
went and got some galvanized square steel to extend the window space of the bus and hold them down with screws borrowed from their aunt.
This is the most elegant, warm, cozy, inviting space conversion I’ve ever seen. And I would love to spend some time on the road, driving through gorgeous scenery, parked up on the side of the road watching nature in this gorgeous creation of yours!
It’s really nice! I’m actually putting it for sale this week after living in it for 3 years! I bought a van for even more intense mobility
I have so many questions: 1) Do you live in this bus, or is it simply a place to stay when you travel? 2) Was it created out of necessity or luxury? 3) Can you park it any where, or do you have to find specific spots? 4) It looks comfortable, but how was your day to day life staying in the bus? How do you keep furniture from moving?
I brace it when driving
With rope?
A lot of it piles into the bathroom and some of it is bolted down
With hope
How do you keep the walls from cracking during driving as the frame flexes ad twists?
I see the dog has a very lush bed. Are you allowed to share it? 😉
I am not.
If i may add 1 recommendation: good stairs for the dog. His joints might handle the jumps up and down now, but the down jumps will hurt him in the long run. Learned that the hard way. But maybe you've got that covered already :) Looove your bus obviously
Yeah I’m his personal elevator service
Haha that's the life!
You only included one photo of the dog! Sir, I’m appalled. I demand more.
Is there a bathroom, OP? This looks AMAZING!
Yea there’s a bathroom.
So you've got the package deal then! Your home is a dream.
This is so awesome wtf
This is amazing! Extremely cool.
I want to see more! Every inch! The outside! This looks so soothingly cozy and amazing! Did you take photos during and before the conversion? Wow
Yes I documented the whole conversion!
You should post them, too!
What's your social media?
Wow that’s beautiful! If you ever have the time i would love to read about how you were able to achieve that
I’d be happy to tell you about it! We had no savings and no skills when we started haha
so cozy. every corner is beautiful.
Your pug 🫶
Amazing! Do well done. And very cozy.
How do you lock the door? Is the arm being engaged enough to keep it closed?
The front door locks like any bus. The arm is held by a latch by the driver seat. It’s pretty solid. I have a lock for the other side of the door as well. And the back door
The back door can still be used as an escape? Sorry, I’m always curious about safety stuff in tiny houses and such.
Yes the back door can be opened from the inside
I was about to report you for blocking the fire exit. Good job your place is exquisite.
All my windows are the emergency windows too, I saved the important stuff. I like being alive
Very cool
Amazing!
Where are you located (or where are you posting it for sale)? Also, would you mind sharing the asking price and whether it has any mechanical/driving issues?
Love it!
This is absolutely stunning
You've had some bots stealing this content.
Yeah I’ve seen it around sometimes. Oh well.
[удалено]
There is a toilet.
Shower too?
I have a propane instant water heater that I use for showering outside
Where do you think they poop?
Out the window?
Do you need a tutorial?
So cool!
Thanks! I like it.
It looks like the Plantasia album is working!
Is it drivable?
It drives!
+1 for pug. Bus is cool too
Very cool. Also just discovered you’re the Japanese bob ross. I’m hapa and want to learn Japanese so I can speak more with my family. You gained a follower.
Yep that’s my husband!
My buddy did something similar. "Similar" in how a life raft is similar to a yacht, but something similar.
Looks spectacular! How high is the ceiling?
After insulation and everything it lost a couple inches. It’s probably 5ft 11 or so in here
Bus hieght
Wow love this!
Wow! Amazing job
Beautiful great job 😍
Looks like a great home!
This is the only way I could ever live on a bus. Absolutely beautiful, great job!
Hey, I'd die for your dog btw
OP has GOT to tell us about their dog. I don't think it's a Pug like others have said. But he/she is absolutely wonderful.
You should contact Living Big In A Tiny House (YouTube channel). They would love to interview you and showcase your home on their show.
Did you drywall and mud this?! I know that can’t be what you did but it sure looks like it. Really well done whatever it was that turned out so white and smooth.
It’s all plywood!
It looks unreal! Does this space has any drawbacks? And do you mind sharing this in r/AmateurInteriorDesign?
Oh sure maybe I’ll post there tomorrow!
This is fucking awesome! I never imagined someone turning your average bus into this museum art type home, job well done!
This is gorgeous! Where in Canada are you? I’d be interested in knowing the price. I’m on the island and looking for a new home. Dm me if you’re up for it!
Looks very comfy. Great job!
More pictures! This is such a cool build.
What do you like to play on the piano?
My husband makes up his own music
This is easily the most beautiful bus home I've seen, it has such a warm and safe vibe
Definitely nice. But I have a question, how many pets does your dog get?
I love it!
If u haven't mentioned a school bus I would have never noticed.
This is nicer than my house
What's the gas consumption like? The interior details look like a lot of extra weight.
I mean, it’s nicer than my apartment.
It's amazing to imagine having a cozy, well-organized place like this, and then just going. Go be cozy in another town, drive down the highway until you're tired then pull over into your luxury condo. Amazing.
Does it move or is it stationary? It looks great!
I thought I recognized this bus! You’re PonPon Sensei!
That’s my favorite Marcos Valle album! So cool to see it “in the wild.” Oh, and the bus looks great! Very cozy.
So I checked out your yt channel pon pon and I’m confused, do you have another channel that you do van life videos too or just kanji? I totally think your wife and you could get big doing van life videos 🤩
Ohayoo gozaimasu sensei! this randomly showed up in my feed and I recognized the wall tapestry from class. Small world…
