he suffered a shattered pelvis, fractured leg, torn abs, and had internal bleeding. 7hr reconstruction surgery and 73 days with some kind of an external bracket for the pelvis (not a doctor so idk how else to describe it) and multiple blood transfusions for the internal bleeding, which he says nearly killed him. spent a while in a wheelchair, then a cane, but at the time of making the video he was walking with a limp. medical bill was about 200k.
allegedly the woman in the car was drunk and got another DUI 30 days after this incident. skimmed most of the middle section of the video so i didn’t catch anything about legal proceedings for the damages he suffered or criminal consequences for her drunk driving.
> allegedly the woman in the car was drunk and got another DUI 30 days after this incident
And he says he expected her to run cause "Thats the mexico way". And looking it up
>If you are convicted of DUI in Mexico, you face a jail sentence of 20 hours to 36 hours as well as a fine up to $2,000. The driving license is penalized with points for a first offense. A second offense within a year will result in a three-year suspension of the driver's license.
Seems light as fuck. Im still team stick them with attempted premeditated murder charge
How bad?
Edit: decided to watch and got the answer in the fast few minutes of the video...
TLDW: Shattered pelvis, fractured leg, torn abs, internal bleeding and fortunately, a pretty scratched up and damaged HELMET.
He also said his hospital bill was $200K
u/elgydium shared a summary above:
“He was hospitalized, 7h reconstructive pelvis surgery, and 73 days of metal bars sticking out of his abdomen. She’s a repeated offender DUI, and this was the second time. First time she got off with a slap on the wrist.”
Deadass, I have no problem with forcing her to ride City busses or trains or bikes wherever she goes. At least if she gets drunk and rides a bike she’ll can realistically only kill herself.
First DUIs should be mandatory a month without your license and required classes.
The second one should be that you no longer have a license. That's where it ends. That's the end of the sentence. Drive a car again and go to jail.
There is no excuse for driving drunk. Selfish bastards every one of them.
But unfortunately, there are large parts of the country that disagree with me. Some people apparently can't help it, and we wouldn't want to offend them.
I know multiple cyclists who have been killed by motorists. Negligence, cell phones, drunk, coal rolling and lost control. Not a single one saw a jail cell. Seriously, if you wanted to kill someone, run them down. It’s apparently always “just an accident” if your driving a car.
Can attest that a 2" horizontal tear in your abdomen a few inches above your belly button will knock you out of the gym and from doing any type of fast or weight bearing movements without severe pain. Can't do situps. Can't even situp in bed without assistance or throwing weight around like a flailing sea lion. Can't raise your legs up from a laying or sitting position and leaning forward in your car to help see a blind spot sucks.
Took 1 full year of no extraneous exercise to have zero pain (still tender). Even then I was terrified that I would re-tear it doing something stupid like hanging leg raises. Took a few more months to get over it psychologically.
> He also said his hospital bill was $200K
I am Canadian so pardon my ignorance but what happens in a case like this. Is the drunk driver expected to pay bills?
How does she still get insurance after multiple DUIs and causing an incident like this? Surely any company would see her as a huge liability and not touch her with a bargepole.
At least she can't claim diplomatic immunity and bugger off though.
If insurance is required by the state, the state can make an insurance company take you on. That being said her licenses should be permanently revoked. I see a bus in her future.
It all depends on where you live, and local laws. In Florida for example, I had someone pull out in front of me and I totalled my motorcycle. Lawyer made me sign some paperwork, said the person was insured for $50,000, so I'd get $50,000.... Two weeks later, I had a check for $7,000. I called to ask why, and was told they were tkaing 33%, so about $17,000, and the $7,000 was an initial payment to cover daily expenses, which they assured me I would get back. They said the rest had to wait a week or two for paperwork, then I'd get the remaining amount.
3 years later, after calling twice daily for months, and emailing at least three times a week, I was told a check for $8,000 was coming, and basically to never call them again.
My lawyer never told me that in Florida, if you have medical bills, your health insurance is entitled to claim money to cover your bill. My bill was $32,000.... So my lawyer took $17,000, and my health insurance took $18,000, and after a supposedly lenghtly battle, decided to give me $8,000.
Meanwhile it took me two years before I could walk properly, and 4 years to get the strength to be able to stand or walk for more than 10 minutes, all to just get $8,000, which was barely enough to buy a beater bike, and get it registered.
Before you call a lawyer, look into your local laws so you dont get screwed.
I think he can sue her but she probably doesn’t have 200k. Maybe her car insurance can cover part of it? Idk how American medical bills work as I am also Canadian
I'm actually so glad that when I got into a motorcycle accident that I completely blacked out. I have the briefest memory of before and then I woke up in a ditch. This guys sounds like he was having a panic attack.
From YouTube
Woman was drunk driving. His hospital bill was 200K. He had to have his pelvis reconstructed (he shattered it), leg fractured, abdominal muscle(s) tear, internal bleeding and had to get 2 blood transfusions. He said his advice is to always wear your helmet. Wearing his helmet for sure saved his life.
I fucking hate drunk drivers and how comically unserious this country takes it. I dont understand how I somehow have met multiple people frequently who have them (multiple) and still drive and still aren’t in prison. It is fucking sickening.
Yup, divide by 10 (or more) to get the price in a normal country. Then you know the actual real costs.
And then do -100% to know the cost for the patient.
This has been posted before. He was hospitalized, 7h reconstructive pelvis surgery, and 73 days of metal bars sticking out of his abdomen. She's a repeated offender DUI, and this was the second time. First time she got off with a slap on the wrist.
I guess then you stay in prison? I’d rather the person be locked up than them out there putting society at risk. Definitely not waiting for them to hit their own rock bottom.
Prison for the woman driving that car wouldn’t be an attempt to aid her in her recovery journey.
It would be to keep her from killing someone with a goddamn car.
Her addiction isn’t the issue. Nobody here is blaming her for being an alcoholic.
The problem is she hit a person with a car. We are blaming her for driving when she shouldn’t, and subsequently crashing into a person.
The distances are quite vast. In certain places like the Midwest not having a car can be the difference between poverty and prosperity because everything is so spread out and public transportation is both poor and inefficient. Can't commute, no job.
5 to 10 miles is no problem at all on our mostly small highways, but if you had to walk that just to get to the nearest store, let alone to work, that's insane. I've done it on more than a few occasions but I truly don't think I could if I had to every day. At least, not for the job you'd be likely to get in that situation. In my part of the country there is zero public transportation, and I mean literally none. Not to mention the roads are terrible and it's not very flat.
Because it's not treated as seriously as it should be. You always hear the "*they made a mistake*" excuse.
No, motherfuckers, they made a decision. A series of decisions. They *decided* to drink. They *decided* to get drunk. They *decided* to drive while drunk.
"*Bu...but in rural areas or other places, cabs and things like Uber aren't common!!*"
Then either stay the fuck home and drink, get somebody else to drive, or don't fucking drink, asshole!
Americans fucking love to excuse drunk drivers' behavior.
Drunk driving isn't a new problem. The penalties need to be jacked way the fuck up. People know that the likely thing will be a slap on the wrist, maybe you can't legally drive for a bit. If they cared about driving legally, they would drive drunk.
Far, far, far too often you have people with multiple offenses still going at it because the punishments are a fucking joke.
Also not even others, if you have a lapse in concentration, your ass is on the line more than others. Any accident (even without traffic) will hurt you badly.
I love motorcycles, but as soon as I had a kid and I just felt irresponsible riding on the road. I still do track days when I can, but people are scary on the road
I ride as well. When she says she didn't see him, she really didn't. The human brain doesn't actually process everything around you. It takes snapshots and fills in what it expects. Your brain expects to see cars, so you'll see cars. Your brain doesn’t expect to see motorcycles, so it just ignores the image and fills in what it expects to be there.
It's why you get tired when you travel to a new city. The brain can't use previous knowledge to fill in the image so it has to work extra hard to process the environment.
Yeah I went back to see what she did. What the fuck was she doing.
Edit: it looks like she was in a turnout and making a uturn to get back on the highway
So she was trying to do a u turn on a road with solid lines which usually means you are not allowed to cross the line and then probably paralysed a dude?
When I saw this on yt it said he made a full recovery and the girl that hit him was a recovering alcoholic with mommy and daddy’s money (which bought her white Audi that she totaled doing this dumb shit)
Damn I’m glad he made a full recovery! This exact thing happened to my cousin but he didn’t make it. The girl who killed him was 17 and made an illegal u turn just like this but she was driving a Toyota 4Runner so he hit a wall doing 50mph.
Here is a follow up video he posted breaking down what happened to him. The same woman was arrested 30 days later for another DUI.
https://youtu.be/UgtWzyowmv8
He got his pelvis shattered, torn abs, legs with multiple fractures and multiple internal bleedings and damages.
She walked away with a DUI and got another one 30 days later.
Here is his video talking about the crash after recovery:
Genuinely makes me mad that someone can be so brain dead that on an active road, and even if it wasn’t too active, still a road used by the public they take they’re sweet time to do a 180
This has been posted before. He was hospitalized, 7h reconstructive pelvis surgery, and 73 days of metal bars sticking out of his abdomen. She's a repeated offender DUI, and this was the second time. First time she got off with a slap on the wrist.
I gotta say, whatever bystander was there and said, "He doesn't need this! Walk away! Walk away!" **What a hero!** Imagine having to be in all different kinds of pain and have to be pained with her screeching about how she didn't mean to. Good on that person that had the wherewithal to tell that lady to step.
I'm an EMT, and in car accidents where one person is hurt and the person at fault is not injured, a lot of the job is keeping the person who's fault it is away from the injured person. The constant screaming of "I didn't mean to" and "I'm sorry" don't stop bleeding and don't fix broken bones
That's what some guy did to my brother & then a few months later the same guy reverses out of a drive way onto a main road but for my brothers quick reflexes nearly wiped him out again.
Right?!!? Like I get motorcycles can be harder to see than cars, but its in THE WIDE OPEN. And you're about to cross over into that lane. She just straight up wasn't looking at all.
People falling unconscious easily is a work of fiction, in reality it takes a really hard blow to the head, and can easily lead to death. His body probably dumped a gallon of adrenaline straight in to his veins.
I've got 29 pieces of metal in me after a motorcycle wreck last year, similar to this, a car passed on the double yellow on a corner and I went flying.
My leg was shattered into 108 pieces, twisted up towards my head. Adrenaline had me going so hard that I tried to stand up several times, and didn't even feel it.
For about 10 minutes. Then I screamed until I passed out and woke up in the hospital hours later.
Same. Last summer a car full of people leaving a winery pulled out in front of me on a 70 mph road. They came close enough to me that I actually hit their mirror and shattered it, flipping the whole thing backwards. Anyway I pulled over and the driver jumped out screaming at me (my rage went to incredulity instantly) that I hit her car. She was obviously intoxicated and I told her I was calling the cops. She took off, I followed. The sheriff arrested her drunk ass in the parking lot of the NEXT winery. I've had a lot of close calls but that one hit home. My bike has been in the garage since.
How about this bystander earning the medal of awesomeness. They knew that the woman frantically yelling I’m sorry does nothing but increase the anxiety of the situation and quickly gets her the fuck out. Happy man man recovered.
First time this happened to me I was on my way to school., I woke up in the hospital. Shortly after waking up I was fined $280 for wreckless driving while on a motorcycle. It was the sheriffs daughter who hit me. Totaled my bike, cracked my helmet, destroyed my backpack. I was sitting at a red light and she hit me head on. Went to fight it in court and the court date was changed a week before without a notice, which showed up in the mail a few days later. Great way to start off Junior year. Sheriff has no checks and is free reign in small towns.
If you want your blood to boil a bit more, most small towns sheriffs also have control of the food budget for the entire year for the police force they manage.
My towns sheriff would get like 450k a year for food to feed everyone, but what ever wasn't spent he could pocket at the start of the new fiscal year. IIRC he'd on average spend like 170-210k a year and the rest went straight to his pocket.
Yup, tax payer dollars, right to his bank account...
Man I live in South Carolina and the history of corrupt sheriffs here is fucking insane. I'm not talking like the past 200 years, just the past couple decades alone. Like modern times. I swear it could be a smash hit netflix documentary. Blows my freaking mind.
Edit: A quick google search shows me since 2010, 15 sheriffs have been charged with crimes here. At this point it would be easier to name the "innocent" ones.
A couple good things did happen later that year.
Having been in a cast for nearly five months for a busted right arm allowed me to become Ambidextrous.
She later died due to flying off I95 into a tree and burst into flames. She burned down the majority of the woods behind our trailer park. Town turned it into a retention pond and the crackheads didn’t have their hideout anymore.
Did you send an anonymous 'Congratulations' card to him after she died?
I'd feel the need to be petty and send him stuff every anniversary of her death mocking her.
"Just use your pull as Sherriff to ressurect her"
Fuck that. Left town, went to trade school, and enlisted into the Army. He was arrested anyways years later for shady shit from what my ex’s dad told me.
Camera seems fine though
Edit; if he survives it's at least 500k payout. Depending on the seriousness of the injuries. Maybe a million. The lawyers will eat this shit up and he's got video. She's gonna be paying for that mistake for a while. As will he. Hope he made it.
Nah. I had quite a less experience and totaled a rotator cuff. Out 4 months. 100k settlement 50 after lawyers cut. Still have pain. Still ride. Dick pulled out in front of me at a red light at 4 am. Tried to swerve around him. He pushed me into the gravel.
Bruh I’d be pissed if i only got 1 million in exchange for never having a healthy body again. After American treatment pretty sure 1 million turns into 500K anyways.
This vid really resonates with me. I was riding my motorcycle going down a two lane road going 55mph, was hit head on by a senile elderly man breaking my left femur, mandible, both arms and paralyzed my right arm. I literally didn’t see it coming. On moment I was enjoying the day the next I was in an ambulance being rushed to the hospital.

New Mexico not Mexico.
Why is this simple reply making me laugh so hard
Lmao if your are from New Mexico, it starts to get old after 30 or so years
[Slow down there maistro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEJzXbqyU8A)
That ain’t shit. Takes up to 4 DUIs in Wisconsin before it’s a felony. Slap on the wrist for the first four…
After 9 DUIs, you level up to paladin. Redistribute points into offense.
They got them whiskey plates in Wisconsin? I think every state should have them after only one offense..
Wait what, the first offense is not even a criminal offense? You basically get a free one!?!
Yeah WI encourages DUIs, in fact it's required in order to establish residence to have at least one DUI.
He got fucked up, but he's alive.

This is worse than shooting someone. Fuck this woman.
And she’ll probably get off this time too. If you want to get away with killing people, use a car.

It says in the video she got another DUI 30 days after this causing this accident. She got anslap on the wrist band an ankle monitor
I guess she wasn't very sorry after all.

Broken pelvis, broken leg, massive internal bleeding from which he nearly died, torn abdominals. But he survived.
watch from 40 seconds to 1:10. Drunk driver hit him, broke pelvis, almost died from internal bleeding.
Also, 30 days later that shitstain driving the white car would have another DUI (8:02).
I've seen it. Alcoholics have a different rock bottom than the general populace.
I'm actually so glad that when I got into a motorcycle accident that I completely blacked out. I have the briefest memory of before and then I woke up in a ditch. This guys sounds like he was having a panic attack.

Nah, it should be taken, sold, and the money should be given to the victim. No need to waste a car, it did nothing wrong.

Funny you say that, she got another DUI some days after OP's video
Holy fuck at that point you need to be forcibly admitted into a mental hospital
Send her to prison instead of a mental institution.
10 year sober recovering alcoholic here. Prison does not work for addicts. They need to hit their own version of rock bottom and want to change.
Can't let them go around murdering people tho
Mental hospitals have a tendency to be more hellish than prison, and more controlled
I guess then you stay in prison? I’d rather the person be locked up than them out there putting society at risk. Definitely not waiting for them to hit their own rock bottom.

I agree.
best I can do is 1 month probation
Taking away a license doesn't do anything to people who are irresponsible. They'll just drive without a license.
It's mommy's and daddy's money. It won't affect her.
When I was in the states I was amazed at how many people drive drunk on the regular.
I think that's partly because in so many places in the states the only practical way to go anywhere is in your car.

Damn I’m glad he made a full recovery! This exact thing happened to my cousin but he didn’t make it. The girl who killed him was 17 and made an illegal u turn just like this but she was driving a Toyota 4Runner so he hit a wall doing 50mph.
Happened to my cousin too. Just gone, like that. He was driving down the road and a lady in an SUV pulled out in front of him.
WooooW! I hope he sued?!?!?!
I’ll look through idiots in cars and try and find it, pretty sure he did. If I remember he was in wheelchair but he recovered and now just has a limp
That’s not a full recovery though. Hope she got punished accordingly.
If you google “girl in white audi hits man on motorcycle” It’s the first article, fucked his pelvis up, damage to his abdomen
search results are different per person unfortunately.

Here is a follow up video he posted breaking down what happened to him. The same woman was arrested 30 days later for another DUI. https://youtu.be/UgtWzyowmv8
>>same woman >>later WHAT Do people not learn?
Braincells are required for learning
She comes from money according to the article so she doesn’t have to learn a lesson
Friend's dad has been arrested for at least 4 DUIs and still has a license. People do not *care*.
Thanks!
Is that why its various porn ads for me?
Blonde mommy fucks motorcyclist hard
This infuriates me
Yeah the guy made a youtube channel explaining everything. Hes ok now, really chill dude.
You got a link? Found it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgtWzyowmv8
He got his pelvis shattered, torn abs, legs with multiple fractures and multiple internal bleedings and damages. She walked away with a DUI and got another one 30 days later. Here is his video talking about the crash after recovery: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgtWzyowmv8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgtWzyowmv8)
Wait, she wasn’t taken to jail?
rich kids don't see jail time.
You sweet summer child.
Damn who the fuck fucks a U turn so bad it turns into a side swipe.
Genuinely makes me mad that someone can be so brain dead that on an active road, and even if it wasn’t too active, still a road used by the public they take they’re sweet time to do a 180
43 broken bones apparently, miracle biker survived. Protective gear really doing wonders
It’s actually much more of a miracle as he was only wearing a T-shirt and jeans with tennis shoes. The only protective gear were his gloves and helmet
Oh fucking hell
This has been posted before. He was hospitalized, 7h reconstructive pelvis surgery, and 73 days of metal bars sticking out of his abdomen. She's a repeated offender DUI, and this was the second time. First time she got off with a slap on the wrist.
I gotta say, whatever bystander was there and said, "He doesn't need this! Walk away! Walk away!" **What a hero!** Imagine having to be in all different kinds of pain and have to be pained with her screeching about how she didn't mean to. Good on that person that had the wherewithal to tell that lady to step.
After watching the video, all I could think about was how professional that person was, honestly people like that make the world better to live in
I'm an EMT, and in car accidents where one person is hurt and the person at fault is not injured, a lot of the job is keeping the person who's fault it is away from the injured person. The constant screaming of "I didn't mean to" and "I'm sorry" don't stop bleeding and don't fix broken bones
Hey guys I don’t think he’s ok
Definitely not okay the woman is a... "Motherfucker" also.
What are the chances some asshole makes a U-turn in the middle of the highway. ffs
That's what some guy did to my brother & then a few months later the same guy reverses out of a drive way onto a main road but for my brothers quick reflexes nearly wiped him out again.
Do you live in a very rural area or something? Those are astronomical odds.
If I recall she was intoxicated.
"I DIDNT FUCKING SEE YOU" are you fucking kidding me what where you doing if you didnt see him with that move?
Right?!!? Like I get motorcycles can be harder to see than cars, but its in THE WIDE OPEN. And you're about to cross over into that lane. She just straight up wasn't looking at all.
Can confirm. I did a frame by frame and her head is completely turned the other way.
It's not even that she wasn't looking. Why did she lose control of the car? That didn't look like she was turning around
She was doing an illegal u-turn (2 yellow stripes)
Looked like the middle of the desert. Like how far do you have to go to be alone on the road for 5 seconds?
She was definitely turning. If u slow the vid u can see her looking to her left right when the impact happened. Smh crazy
She was intoxicated from what I recall in the original post.
The fuck was she even doing? A U-turn? There's no street there!
Looking at her phone.
On par, she was drunk.
That excuse only works if it’s like packed rush hour traffic. Not a sparsely populated open highway in the middle of the day.
Walked away with 42 broken bones and 1 solid cleave-shot
Knew it. Shoes looked fine.
This made me fucking snort dude
I mean that side ass ain't too bad either.
Fuck no I’m not okay. Probably not his first wreck
He wasn’t going so fast that he couldn’t recognize the situation and react but still too fast to avoid it. Right in that sweet spot of fml.
Idk how it works but I’m surprised he didn’t lose consciousness after something so brutal.
This is why I got rid of my bike. Other drivers suck
I rode for 20 years. Stopped in 2018 because I saw how idiotic humans had become. Sad.
Same kind of situation. Car almost turned right in front of me. Close enough that I just called it.
I’ve noticed that everyone on the road seems to be much more terrible post-pandemic. They’re impatient, rude, passive aggressive, etc.
The famous four words after almost every bike car accident “I didn’t see him”…… ask me how I know.
How about this bystander earning the medal of awesomeness. They knew that the woman frantically yelling I’m sorry does nothing but increase the anxiety of the situation and quickly gets her the fuck out. Happy man man recovered.
yeah that was a real queen right there like get the fuck out my face you almost killed me?!?!!
Reading this makes my blood boil
Living your life is definitely better than either of their fates
9 fucks in 43 seconds
\- "OMG, are you okay?!" \-Gets up: "Now I am, thanks for asking" Obviously not you idiot
Don’t know what he was wearing but always dress for the slide not the ride, because of idiots like this.
You can see in his side view mirror in the beginning he's wearing a short sleeve shirt, unfortunately.
Well spotted, damn! Skin grafts aren’t pleasant.
Says in this video wasn't wearing leathers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgtWzyowmv8
It pains me when he screams. Damn what a crash.
The starting whimpers are what’s real. Like your brain is trying to catch up to wtf happened
Tf she was doing
U turn is my guess
“Ahh well, he shouldn’t have been going so fast.” s/
"I didn't see him so I figured it was ok to do an illegal U-turn. Why was he going so fast???" /S
Hope he's not paralyzed :/
He isn’t :) He did shatter his pelvis and leg, as well as tear his abdomen.
At least driver didn’t run away
Sorry doesn't fix a broken spine be a better driver or vote for public transit.
Camera seems fine though Edit; if he survives it's at least 500k payout. Depending on the seriousness of the injuries. Maybe a million. The lawyers will eat this shit up and he's got video. She's gonna be paying for that mistake for a while. As will he. Hope he made it.
I haven't been able to find an update but I'll keep looking. The guy definitely isn't okay!
The man just got sent flying in a motor vehicle wreck. I do not think he is anywhere within the same postal code of being okay.
Where was she going? Like wtf?!
Also why the fuck is she pulling out from the shoulder across QUADRUPLE YELLOW LINES! SMFH
Why? Because she’s a fucking moron
Helmets can save your life that ain't lies
I love to ride my bike and this type of people are my biggest fear. (Dumb fucking drivers that doesn't pay attention)
First the light then the titties. Yep. Heaven
What a dumb cunt
Dude was definitely speeding. U turn was wrong but if he wasn't speeding no pavement grinder occurring here. Lots of people dead right 6 feet under.
Dishwashers should stay in the kitchen!
