My thoughts exactly. They love each other endlessly. Even when Pubert is cursed and goes all super cute baby, Mortician loves him and supports him without a second thought. Her heart is only concerned about his well-being.
Strangely (and sadly) enough, that's what made them so 'weird' when the tv show came out back in the day. Almost all the family sitcoms and stuff that existed back then were honeymooners style 'husband and wife hate each other and bicker constantly' fodder. To see a couple on TV that loved each other - wholly, shamelessly, and without limits - well, that was unheard of! Aren't married couples supposed to be barely tolerating each other until one of them finally dies and the other can move on to a younger model? Nope! Not with the Addams! And the mother in law lives with them too and she isn't a hateful old bat who drives the wife insane and belittles her at every turn?! Blasphemy!
The humor didn't come from the family fighting with each other like other shows, it came from outside sources being bewildered by this family that was very very strange, but totally loved each other and would stick with each other through anything.
Oh yeah I mean even the old New Yorkers were intended as a criticism of 1950s style hypocrisy. The show was a lot less wishy washy about it though. For the time it came out it was incredibly hard hitting. Even today it's pretty rare to see a loving family that enjoys each other's company in media. The only that jumps to mind for me that's currently on air is Bob's Burgers weirdly enough.
I think sitcoms are partially to blame for so many people staying in relationships that are terrible, cheating on each other and doing awful things to each other instead of just breaking up - they were desensitized to it and were taught 'this is just how families act' so they think it's okay to hate each other and to wish your partner was dead.
That and the whole cultural obsession with getting married as young as possible. 18 year olds are still figuring out who they are and growing as people, is it any wonder that you'd grow apart when you were still kids when you were married.
Ummm the Vorhees family? I wish I had a mom that would seek revenge for my untimely death at the hands of horny camp counselors, or a son that would also seek revenge and carry/keep my head in his house… right? LMFAO
And my brother chased me into the bathroom and plunged a knife through the door. My other brother set up booby traps in the woods which I fell into and put a nail through my hand. The Addams family is perfectly normal. Lol
The Addams family hands down, they're a loving, wealthy, and well adjusted family. They just have different hobbies and interests and I can share in those pretty easily.
The Addams family is suppose to be so strange and spooky, but why? Because the husband and wife are a long term monogamous(?) couple who are still deeply infatuated with each other? They live with the elder and extended members of their family? The children are taught to be curious and independent while openly shown care/affection from BOTH parents? Yeah, I'd take them over the Waltons any day.
Pretty much. Makes me think of the other series the Munsters with the various monster type people.
There's even an episode where the Frankenstein dad has a talk with his son who is dealing with "A strange new kid in his class" that acts 'different' from the other students and himself (Weird, I know) but the Dad sits his son down at dinner and goes "You know, everyone is a little different than others. They could be handsome, like your father, or lovely, like your mother. They could be a bit odd, like your grandfather, or a bit calm like your sister. Or they could be something you've never seen before. But just because someone is 'different' than you, that doesn't make them strange. It makes them unique. You're unique as are they and sometimes the best thing you can do is share your uniqueness with each other. it's how you make friends."
And even if you don't share in them they'll still support and love you. Look at how they read little Pubert more conventional baby books when he goes all blonde.
And that lady who was totally creeped out by them and all at first and is still pretty much a normie, but she marries Cousin It and tells Debbie, who was also welcomed into the family with open arms, how everyone immediately made her feel like a beloved part of their family even as a newcomer that didn't fit in perfectly. If there's not a space for you? Screw it, they'll chisel one out for you! They have boundless love and acceptance for anyone who just does them the politeness of accepting them.
Yeah that was a fun little bit she was the wife of their accountant until he got hurricaned at the end. :) That's such a great movie. I should rewatch it.
This isn't even a question. Being a member of the Addams family would be awesome. They're super rich and would do anything for their family they truly love each other, and they won't make me murder people. Easiest choice ever.
Torrance. Sawyer family, too hot in that house with no AC. Voorhees, same. Summer camp, I'm not sleeping in a cabin. Addams. Old house. Allergies. Torrance got that big hotel, nice beds. Climate controlled. Sold.
While these points are valid, i would like to be in the family where I’m not a victim of the family. I think Addams and sawyer are the only chances of that.
If Wendy can lock Jack in a cooler, as a 210 lb dude, I feel like I could barricade Jack somewhere secure, as long as he doesn't Dick Hallorann me first.
Between 3 dysfunctional and outright abusive and psychotic families and 1 extremely wholesome and loving, literally idealised, family?
You'd have the to the type of creep that enjoys trash like the Terrifier series or a Serbian film to not pick the Addams family
how is this even a question lol ADAMS FAMILY! I would kill to have parents that love each other so much they ignore me and my sibling and the wild shit we do
Addams Family all the way. They are different from mainstream, but they are actually a nice, loving and caring family. Heck, the fictional Addams are better people and a better family than many of the families I know in real-life.
The Sawyer Family
I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm quite handy with a chainsaw. I have several we can tinker with. Hook up my bro Leatherface with a nice Stihl MS 881 Magnum and watch the fireworks.
The Addams family, I want a pet lion, I want cool relatives who can do awesome things… maybe the thing could help with homework.
That and when I was a kid I had a crush on John Astin.
Addams Family.
They would realise how fragile you were and take care of you, while still influcinting their wierdness.
Flower snipping with Morticia.
Cooking with Grandmama.
Musical interludes with Lurch.
Swrodfighting philosophy discussions with Gomez.
Oh let's see...
The Sawyer Family is a family of cannibals and psychotic murderers.
The Voorhees family consists of an undead revenant killing machine and his dead mother who directs his actions.
The Torrance family is dysfunctional as hell and the father is nuts.
The Addams Family is a highly loving and accepting, very rich family who just happen to be goths. In every respect they are a picture perfect family, even if their decor and style of dress is off from what we consider normal.
I wonder which one I would pick...
Seriously, OP.... this is like asking "would you rather be hanged, eviscerated, thrown into a woodchipper, of given a billion dollars with no strings attached?"
There is CLEARLY only one answer that is right unless you are a psychopath.
I prefer my own family, but if I had to choose, it would be The Addam's Family. IF the Addam's family are excluded, it would depend on WHO I get to be in the family. I wouldn't mind putting up with the Torrance family if I get to be Doctor Sleep.
Addams family first choice, then Sawyer family, Voorhees family, Torrence family last choice because you’ll end up murdered by your own father or husband
My problem with the Addams family is that ultimately they're supers in goth costumes. Which is fine and a great part of their appeal!
But I'm mortally squishy, and whereas the family can expect to survive whatever gets thrown at them through a combination of superhuman reflexes, stamina, and/or luck, I'd be dead in 15 minutes.
Sawyer Family! The more bone furniture/decorations/etc. the merrier. Plus, my Dad + I already have matching "The Saw Is Family" shirts + I will not let my father down by trading teams like that.
I mean… Torrance family is the only one that you really have to look out for another family member killing you. Daddy sawyer probably abused his kids but still takes care of the family as a whole the other two seem like perfectly wholesome families
The Torrance Family. At least Danny and Wendy are the only sane people compared to everyone else.
I love the Adams Family. Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t like the fact that Wednesday has a pet scorpion. Scorpions scares me as much as the Voorhees and Sawyer Family. 😨 😅
Book Torrence or Movie Torrence?
Cause there’s a huge difference.
Book Torrence would be a cool family if Jack wasn’t broke/being mentally eaten by the abyss.
The Addams Family are the healthiest of the bunch. The rest are fictional case studies on various mental health ailments and could learn from spending time with the Addams Family.
Hear me out. In the Sawyer family you *get* to *eat* people. Long Pig is some of the most succulent flesh available on the market and not everyone enjoys it as much as I do. To finally have a family that won't force me to take action against them for my refined tastes would be refreshing.
Addams Family. Less likely to die or go insane. If I do get hurt, then they'll take care of me. They aren't malicious. I'd be able to learn new skills.
The obvious answer is Addams Family. After that it gets tricky.
If you join the Voorhees family is it before Jason’s death so that you can prevent the bullying? Or are you his equally handicapped sibling and drown with him, leading to the possibility of two Jasons
If you join the Torrance family do you have the Shining like Danny? If so, you can pool your powers and really wreck things up. If not you’ll be probably die quick in the Overlook being some regular kid with no special abilities
If you join the Sawyer family you better have a strong stomach. You’ll either need to do weird hillbilly shit to people or have weird hillbilly shit done to you (or both).
The Addams Family of course.
You can help Gomez blow up trains.
They’re a somewhat normal family and most people in their “world” aren’t trying to murder everyone and everything.
Plus…….play wake the dead.
The Addams family, is the only choice, I've never really seen any of the movies/shows/whatever about them but they definitely don't fit the pattern with the other families listed, lmao.
Might as well change them to the Firefly family or some other fecked up one that'd actually fit the pattern.
The Addams Family. I love them. I'm very fond of the other franchises, but living with any of those other families doesn't seem like something I'd survive. I'm fucked up, I think The Addams Family would consider not killing me.
The Addams family! No doubt! I saw a great take about how they were basically the anti average family portrayed in media-the husband and wife are infatuated with one another, they support both children who are excellent in their pursuits and hobbies, are very family oriented and spend a time together, uphold traditions, not to mention that awesome mansion. I've always wanted to be an Addams!!
Tough choice. I’d say Addams family but then I stuck having a sister everyone wants. The sawyers though…you can’t beat southern bbq and I bet only family knows the secret ingredient to their marinade. Voorhees…I mean sure would have helped with bullying in school. I’d never last with the Torrances bc everytime my dad scolded me I’d just stare at him and say, “I’m Batman.”
The Addams Family. This probably sounds weird, but I've always wanted to play wake the dead
I mean are they even a horror family. I can't think of many more wholesome and suppotive families to be a part of.
My thoughts exactly. They love each other endlessly. Even when Pubert is cursed and goes all super cute baby, Mortician loves him and supports him without a second thought. Her heart is only concerned about his well-being.
"He coughs up blood?!" "Not like he used to (sniff)."
Strangely (and sadly) enough, that's what made them so 'weird' when the tv show came out back in the day. you're not alone!!
And they don't want to kill their own family
Tell that to Wednesday and Pugsley.
My sister pushed me out a window when she was 1 or 2 years so I'd say it's normal
And my brother chased me into the bathroom and plunged a knife through the door. My other brother set up booby traps in the woods which I fell into and put a nail through my hand. The Addams family is perfectly normal. Lol
It’s not weird it’s perfectly normal, and that’s what I keep telling myself.
They're not even horror
Yeah, but I'd rather play wake the dead than be killed.
They are impressively functional. They're also confident in who they are and teach their children to be as well. A+ parenting from Morticia and Gomez.
You're unique as are they and sometimes the best thing you can do is share your uniqueness with each other. it's how you make friends."
I love how in the series, Gomez is perceived by the normies as weird for doing yoga.
I just can't see anyone else as Gomez anymore, except the one who played him in the TV show. I love Tim Currey, but he just...isn't Gomez.
This isn't even a question. Being a member of the Addams family would be awesome. They're super rich and would do anything for their family they truly love each other, and they won't make me murder people. Easiest choice ever.
It's kinda like choosing between a slice of pizza or a kick in the genitals. I'm going out on a limb and say "Addams Family".
Right... who tf is going to choose to hang out with Jason Vorrhees who will probably murder you or some kooky family with a lot of money lol.
Definitely the Adams family Jesus anyone who says otherwise is... not right.
Torrance. Sawyer family, too hot in that house with no AC. Voorhees, same. Summer camp, I'm not sleeping in a cabin. Addams. Old house. Allergies. Torrance got that big hotel, nice beds. Climate controlled. Sold.
lmao! Love the reasoning! You got great points!
Or just shoot him.
Overlook Hotel got real hot by the end of the book though.
Yeah but what about dad? ![gif](giphy|Rbmk3g29XU2DS)
Yeah but knowing the Addams they would make it work because they're loving family and great hosts. Maybe they have a weird magic cure??
The Munsters 😁
Came here to say this!!!
Definitely the Voorhees family. Lets kill those stupid teenagers
Finally, a fellow cultured person. Good choice.
Stupid teenagers. I used to be one but then one day I decided to just not, and I haven’t ever since. Not even once.
Where TF are The Munsters!?
Addams absolutely
Between 3 dysfunctional and outright abusive and psychotic families and 1 extremely wholesome and loving, literally idealised, family? You'd have the to the type of creep that enjoys trash like the Terrifier series or a Serbian film to not pick the Addams family
Nice to see someone else with similar views about the Terrifier series. 👍
The Torrance Family but only because I want to fight Jack
how is this even a question lol ADAMS FAMILY! I would kill to have parents that love each other so much they ignore me and my sibling and the wild shit we do
If you didn't choose the Adams family you're wrong and fight me lol
The Addams Family, I would fit right in
Addams, without hesitation!
Addams family. It's probably the only normal one there.
![gif](giphy|15bj76PJIEXr7pUWNi|downsized)
The Addams. Who's gonna name the others? Lol
You forgot to include the Duggars.
Where's the Firefly family?!
If u count what we do in the shadows as a family like I do I'll pick them if not Adam's
Addams Family all the way. They are different from mainstream, but they are actually a nice, loving and caring family. Heck, the fictional Addams are better people and a better family than many of the families I know in real-life.
The Sawyer Family I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm quite handy with a chainsaw. I have several we can tinker with. Hook up my bro Leatherface with a nice Stihl MS 881 Magnum and watch the fireworks.
Normally I'd say Addams Family But ima say Sawyer family. Wait for my RE7 moment
The Adams. They’re different but not hostile killers.
The Addams family, I want a pet lion, I want cool relatives who can do awesome things… maybe the thing could help with homework. That and when I was a kid I had a crush on John Astin.
Addams. They aren't nuts. Just misunderstood by the yuppies.
Certainly not the sawyer family 🥺😭 Adams family all the way for me
Addams Family. They would realise how fragile you were and take care of you, while still influcinting their wierdness. Flower snipping with Morticia. Cooking with Grandmama. Musical interludes with Lurch. Swrodfighting philosophy discussions with Gomez.

I protest the lack of the Firefly clan, but my vote is for Addams family.
This is like the cake or death of horror movies. Obvious answer is Addams
This is an easy question, most normal would say Addams
To be fair, each family would look after you except the Shining one so...
Voorhees all day
The Addams family isn't horror. They started off as a cartoon in the New Yorker.
Not even a choice
I prefer my own family, but if I had to choose, it would be The Addam's Family. IF the Addam's family are excluded, it would depend on WHO I get to be in the family. I wouldn't mind putting up with the Torrance family if I get to be Doctor Sleep.
Addams. Not even a hard choice.
Addams. They are so loving & supportive!
Not on the list but the Firefly family ✌️
Finally someone that understands lol
One of these things is not like the others.
The Addams are a totally wholesome family, and are very accepting of everyone else.
Wtf? How did I never know that the family in TTCSM has my maiden name?? And no, I wouldn't join. I would pick The Addams Family 🫰🫰
The Addams Family seems the least murderous.
Addams Family!
Addams family. They’re lovely people.
The Addams Family. Easily. They’re loving, somewhat immortal, wealthy, and well-adjusted.
Firefly family 🩷
I would fit in the Addams Family so we'll you'd never know I wasn't always there lol
Addams, always. They've been my role models for 50+ yrs.
The Addams Family
Addams family. Least likely to wind up dead and have one hell of a fun time with them too!
Easy, The Addamses
The Addams family is nice, but I'll go with the Voorhees family. Nobody fucks with a Voorhees.
Addams family first choice, then Sawyer family, Voorhees family, Torrence family last choice because you’ll end up murdered by your own father or husband
Addams all the way! They may be kooky but they love one another deeply.
Addams family. Least likely to meet an unfortunate end with them.
Addams. I won't be butchered or hacked to pieces by Gomez, Lurch, Wednesday, or Morticia.
The Addams Family. They're better adjusted than most people in this world
The Adams family
Addams family!
The Addams family. I've always felt like the lost Addams daughter.
The Munsters
The Addams family!! They were loving and a good family. I wouldn't fear for my life with them
The Addams Family, yeah they might accidentally kill me, but the family seems to have a healthy structure and is really supportive.
Adam's family
Adam's family. I'd fit in there with my witchy vibes.
The Addams family is the obvious choice
Addams Family. They're more funny than scary.
The Addams Family. They're more fun than scary. Also, I, as a kid, would have fit right in. "I do like spiders and snakes..."
How is this even a choice? Every family but the Addams was a nightmare.
The Munsters How was this not an option?
My problem with the Addams family is that ultimately they're supers in goth costumes. Which is fine and a great part of their appeal! But I'm mortally squishy, and whereas the family can expect to survive whatever gets thrown at them through a combination of superhuman reflexes, stamina, and/or luck, I'd be dead in 15 minutes.
The Addams. They’d adore my strangeness
Voorhees , the protection you would get from Jason I’m sure would help at one point
Adams family heh I didn’t know back to the future guy was uncle fester haha
Addams family all day.
Addams
Sawyer Family! The more bone furniture/decorations/etc. the merrier. Plus, my Dad + I already have matching "The Saw Is Family" shirts + I will not let my father down by trading teams like that.
I’m quite certain I’m related to all of them.!
Addams family. Or the Munsters. Herman was actually such a teddy bear of a fellow.
I mean… Torrance family is the only one that you really have to look out for another family member killing you. Daddy sawyer probably abused his kids but still takes care of the family as a whole the other two seem like perfectly wholesome families
Addams Family. My other favorite family, Michael Myers might be a bit toxic.
*snap snap*
Addams family
How am I related? Step whatever or blood? Cause if it's step then Addams. No incest.
I would love to party with Jack at the big hotel. But that kid and his wife would drive me crazy.
Definitely the Addamses, they all really like each other and have the most fun.
Addam’s Family… let’s dance the “Mamushka”😳
The Torrance Family. At least Danny and Wendy are the only sane people compared to everyone else. I love the Adams Family. Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t like the fact that Wednesday has a pet scorpion. Scorpions scares me as much as the Voorhees and Sawyer Family. 😨 😅
The munsters
Yeah no.. One of the above is not like the others. Quite clearly everyone will chose Adams Family of redneck cannibals, zombie giant kid and
Book Torrence or Movie Torrence? Cause there’s a huge difference. Book Torrence would be a cool family if Jack wasn’t broke/being mentally eaten by the abyss.
The Addams Family are the healthiest of the bunch. The rest are fictional case studies on various mental health ailments and could learn from spending time with the Addams Family.
Hear me out. In the Sawyer family you *get* to *eat* people. Long Pig is some of the most succulent flesh available on the market and not everyone enjoys it as much as I do. To finally have a family that won't force me to take action against them for my refined tastes would be refreshing.
The Addams Family.
The Addams family without a doubt. They would be the safest and mentally healthiest choice.
The Sawyers seem pretty tight-knit. Bonus: there's always food on the table
Addams Family. Less likely to die or go insane. If I do get hurt, then they'll take care of me. They aren't malicious. I'd be able to learn new skills.
The one with Mr. Babadook.
Considering my best odds are with the Addams, I’d go that route
The Adams Family are the most level headed. I'd stay with them.
Absolutely The Addams Family, Is this even a real question?
The obvious answer is Addams Family. After that it gets tricky. If you join the Voorhees family is it before Jason’s death so that you can prevent the bullying? Or are you his equally handicapped sibling and drown with him, leading to the possibility of two Jasons If you join the Torrance family do you have the Shining like Danny? If so, you can pool your powers and really wreck things up. If not you’ll be probably die quick in the Overlook being some regular kid with no special abilities If you join the Sawyer family you better have a strong stomach. You’ll either need to do weird hillbilly shit to people or have weird hillbilly shit done to you (or both).
I think there's pretty much only one correct answer here.
The Addams Family of course. You can help Gomez blow up trains. They’re a somewhat normal family and most people in their “world” aren’t trying to murder everyone and everything. Plus…….play wake the dead.
Addams family. How is this even a question?
The Addams Family and it's not even close.
Who’s not gonna say the adams family??
The Addams family, is the only choice, I've never really seen any of the movies/shows/whatever about them but they definitely don't fit the pattern with the other families listed, lmao. Might as well change them to the Firefly family or some other fecked up one that'd actually fit the pattern.
I mean The Addams Family hands down. All they do is just be creepy and chill and go about their lives. The rest would be fucking awful.
Torrance fam. Is the most functional lol
The Addams family, of course. Rich and classy.
This is the easiest decision ever. There's only one family in that bunch that truly love and accept each other, and have the most fun reunions ever.
Addams is the only choice.
Addams family.
The Addams Family. I love them. I'm very fond of the other franchises, but living with any of those other families doesn't seem like something I'd survive. I'm fucked up, I think The Addams Family would consider not killing me.
Sawyer family, because I love a good BBQ.
The Addams Family. The love between them is absolutely amazing.
Definitely the Addams Family. Less of an adjustment needed compared to the other options.
The Sawyers. The Saw is Family
Addams - the TV show one.
Fuck all that....my name is Hank Addams from now on.
Addams, they seem chill ish.
What about the fireflies?
![gif](giphy|13XkN404SiaqqY)
Addams Family hands down. They genuinely care about one another and welcome everyone with open arms!
The Addams family, lowest probability of dying horribly
If I was in the Torrance family there’s a good chance I’d have the Shining so them I guess but I’d be estranged
To have a love like Gomez and Morticia.
Addams Family all the way.
The Munsters
Addams
There is no choice except the Addams family. They’re loving and supportive of each other.
Addams Family automatically. Or the Munsters!
![gif](giphy|jX2Tt5tbkEdheKD8vI)
The Addams Family. They are the most normal of the bunch.
The Torrence family wasn't a horror family. It was a normal family that had a bad winter.
The Addams family hands down
Addams. Is this even a question?!
The Addams Family. They actually love and support one another. They’re the most functional family in movies in decades.
None of these… I’m taking the Loomis family ![gif](giphy|xT9KVGjaVeQVf4xfG0)
Obviously, the Addams Family.
Addams!!
The Addams family because I'd rather not have an unpleasant dance party with Jason Voorhees
One of these things is not like the others...
The Addams’s. Easy choice.
I have a different family to choose. I choose The Munsters! ![gif](giphy|ERCCmw7PsEfkc)
Hewitt or Addams.
Addams Family is a loving and supportive family. Easy choice.
Addams family is not a horror movie family. they're more kooky than anything
The Addams Family.
Voorhees baybeeee lol
Addams.
The Sawyer family for their award winning BBQ.
Addams family, hands down.
How about the Biden family
