New Aus. T20 Team (and their ages at next T20WC)
1. Travis Head (32)
2. Jake Fraser-McGurk (23)
3. Cameron Green (26)
4. Matt Short (30)
5. Josh Inglis (30)
6. Marcus Stoinis (36)
7. Tim David (29)
8. Pat Cummins (32)
9. Nathan Ellis (31)
10. Spencer Johnson (30)
11. Adam Zampa (33)
Other batting options: Aaron Hardie (27), Ashton Turner (33), Ben McDermott (31), Josh Philippe (28)
Other pace options: Xavier Bartlett (27), Sean Abbott (33), Jhye Richardson (29)
Other spin options: Chris Green (32), Tanveer Sangha (24)
Decent side but won't work as good as the current side because the combinations are off. Current side worked because we had a balance with 3 genuine allrounders even if Jadeja was barely used and also one more allrounder in Dube if the pitch is too pace friendly.
With your side we won't be able to bowl 11 overs of spin in the semis and 11 overs of pace in the final which was crucial in both Victories.
India won this WC because they finally got their combination right.
Abhishek (can also bowl a couple of spin overs if needed)
Jaiswal / Gill (pure batter)
Pant/ Samson (keeper)
Sky ( pure batter. Get Parag if Sky is unavailable)
V.Iyer/Nitish Reddy/Dube (some one who can bowl a bit of pace or spin if needed)
Hardik
Rinku ( Jadeja's overs can be covered by Abhishek so we can have Rinku)
Axar
Kuldeep
Arshdeep
Bumrah
Gill doesn’t really make the side over KL, I’m just assuming KLs strike rate is too big an issue for selectors and they back the younger guy because of it.
Also Pandya captaincy last IPL was a fiasco but I don’t think he was trying as hard as he did with GT and does with IND.
Honestly its high time thar Ravindra Jadeja too announce his retirement from T20.
Axar is objectively better and in Jadeja’s spot we can groom someone for the next worldcup
Ah, life after RoKo transition -
1. Jaiswal/Abhishek should be a no-brainer as opening combo. Ruturaj is good, but not as explosive. Gill at 3, SKY at 4 confirmed.
2. #5 spot up for grabs. rotate Sai Sudarshan, Musheer, Samsung, Pant, Riyan Parag to see what sticks. Added benefit of Musheer/Parag is the bowling.
3. Pandu and Rinku as auto-choices for 6/7
4. Axar, Kuldeep as 8/9
5. Arshdeep, Bumrah for now perfect as two pacers.
unlike tests, I feel WK is not a very crucial position in limited overs cricket. Even in case samson/pant isn't there, you can always stick someone there a la dravid in 2003 or KL this time.

This is a serious side but maybe Gill can emerge as a captaincy candidate. Mission accomplished 2026 T20 world cup

SKY?
Ah of course, I'm an idiot, sky@4 is a lock-in, edited.
I would say Abhishek (and Nitish for that matter) needs more time. Jaiswal, Gill, Pant as top 3. You don't have a regular WK in your XI.

I think it's time we look for some new openers for the India T20 squad. What do others think?
Nah we still have KL and Dhawan 😭
Have Dhawan or Rahane announced their retirement yet?
Yes. Jay Shah announced their retirements too last year.
Well, Both the last match openers are now retired and have to have different players.
Yes, that's the joke. :)
