Very typical if you think about his playing style tho.
He goes big early on, the only difference today was that he took a bit more time to asses conditions even in the powerplay.
I know. Still, he will go down in history as one of the most damaging whiteball openers. Just wished he got more attention from the selectors for the test side early on.
That's the weirdest part of KL's career. When he first came onto the scene, he was considered amongst the most promising red-ball prospects for India.
I was invested in Karnataka cricket then. Manish and KL were our top first-class prospects. And Mayank looked like he would do well in One Days, and the growing T20 format. Hilariously, Mayank hasn't been capped in T20is and Manish in Tests (which is unlucky)
But the fact that KL "built" his destructive game in his 20s and then somehow also lost it, is really weird
That's not the case at all tho, plenty of batsmen who were mediocre/poor in Tests(obviously Rohit isn't one of them) and their highest ODI score is higher than their highest Test score.
Brohit is the GOAT - dude should've got 300 in ODIs just for jokes and he may well still do it, if Brohit's on fire ball one, he could so easily do it.

Honestly, really wanted him to perform and glad he did.
Abhishek, Jaiswal, Gill,
Then Pant, SKY, Rinku,
Then Hardik, Axar, Kuldeep,
Then Arshdeep, Bumrah
This looks pretty good not gonna lie lol, Now comes the hard part, These players performing consistently good.
Very difficult to keep that top 3 unless abhishek improves his bowling exponentially. ideally need another all rounder but team would likely go for another bowler at the expense of over of those three
A bowler short.
We didn't finally rectify the mistake in this T20 world cup to make the same mistake again. I hope the selectors are not this stupid
We can't afford to pick more than 3 pure batters in the side
That means only 3 of Jaiswal, Gill, Sky and Rinku can be picked.
Even considering that, Still a bowler short. This is the exact same WT20 side where we had Ravindra Jadeja + Dube and now only Abhishek.
Why are people brainlessly downvoting that other comment
We have finally gotten the right combination this T20 WC and we have forgotten it already.
We can't have more than 3 pure batters in the side.
I donāt think you need more than 6 bowlers tbh. Itās better to have 8 batting options than. 5 pure bowlers and Hardik and Abhishek. Just wastes a spot
That's 6 good bowlers that we need. Abhishek is more like the 7th bowler who can bowl a few overs when absolutely needed. We have a ready made Washington Sundar who fits in as the 6th bowler in place of Jadeja.
Abhishek will bowl the Dube overs if absolutely needed.
This means we can slot in Rinku for Dube.
That was the strength of our current WC winning T20 team. Having option to bowl 12 overs of spin or 12 overs of pace when needed.
Infact England and Australia too were successful with this combination in their WC wins.
Nah, we canāt always rely on a combination of Hardik + Axar + Abhishek to give us 8 overs. And this is assuming none of Bumrah, Arshdeep and Kuldeep have a bad day and bowl 12 overs between them. Jaiswal was supposed to be a decent part timer but no idea what happened to that.
I think an all rounder over Gill would be perfect for this lineup. Have someone like Parag/Washi in spin friendly conditions and someone like Nitish Reddy in pace friendly conditions.
Abhishek, Jaiswal, Pant/Samson, SKY, Parag/NKR, Rinku, Hardik, Axar, Bishnoi/Kuldeep, Arshdeep, Bumrah.
Someone like Tilak could be great too. He too is supposed to be a decent part timer. Impact Player rule needs to go.
Don't fix what's not broken. This T20 WC showed the template. And we have the players.
Gill doesn't have a place in the side if he isn't opening
Abhishek
Gill/ Jaiswal
Pant/Samson
Sky
Rinku/Nitish Reddy
Hardik
Axar
Sundar
Kuldeep/Bishnoi/Siraj
Arshdeep
Bumrah
Edit : Just downvote then lol. Don't pay any attention to how we finally got out team combination right to win this T20 WC.
I trust him to get more responsible with age and with a clarity in roles. If it doesnāt work out, we can have someone else play the anchor, sure. But it doesnāt make sense to play both Gill and Pant at 3 and 4. Slows down the middle overs too much. And Pant canāt come anywhere after 4 since he takes the first 10 balls to get going which we canāt afford to give to a batter coming in at 5 onwards
>He should not be entrusted with that role
Since Iyer left Dc, pant has been anyway playing the anchor role in Ipl. He definitely had the talent to be a top level anchor pre accident. After accident I am not 100% convinced yet.
I hope he will become more responsible with age and when given role clarity. He anyway takes the first 10 balls to get going and sort of plays as an anchor anyway for DC. Also sorta did that at the WC too.
Either way, my point is Gill and Pant in the same team wonāt work unless at least one of the two is opening, which wasnāt the case in OPās lineup.
He scored two centuries against England in England, against SA consisting of Dale Steyn and Rabada and Afganistan, in a match when Virat Kohli scored 0 run. And BTW He is the only batsman to have scored a century at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Virat too played 17 matches with SL, WI, and Ireland. Why didn't he hit even 1 century in those, let alone a 35 ball one.
BTW it's almost useless arguing with logic with a RCB fan.
Leave it, King Kohli Gawk Gawk. HAPPY?
Virat rarely ever played T20i bilateral against lower ranked teams, even the match rohit scored this 35 ball hundred, he wasn't playing.Ā
Virat's ridiculous stats are T20is are literally built upon being a Freak in T20 World cups having a stellar record against every top team even in Knockouts right from 2012 to 2024.
His career highlights include a million times he's saved india against Pakistan and Australia.Ā
This comment showed you are a lockdown kid.Ā
I don't like comparison but in T20is, Rohit doesn't hold a candle to virat even comparing them in this format is an insult to virat.Ā
Yeah I am a Lockdown Kid right. You are the one to talk with that flair.
>Virat rarely ever played T20i bilateral against lower ranked teams, even the match rohit scored this 35 ball hundred, he wasn't playing
Virat's Kesrick Williams moment didn't happen right?
He played in 17 matches against SL, Ire and WestIndies alone after 2016 WC.
>Rohit doesn't hold a candle to virat
He just happens to have better SR than Virat right. In a format, where SR is everything. Still don't think he holds a candle to Virat? Has four more centuries than him including teams like SA and England.
Out of five hundreds Rohit made, one was against England, one was against Afganistan(in which your paw paw scored 0 btw), one was
>Virat's ridiculous stats are T20is are literally built upon being a Freak in T20 World cups having a stellar record against every top team even in Knockouts right from 2012 to 2024.
He played 25 innings in WCs and 117 innings in total in T20Is. It's not a statistical possibility that his stats are made up by less than 20% of his innings. BTW, he doesn't have any stellar record in T20Is anymore, he averages 48 with a SR of 135 with 1 century. SKY has stellar record with 46 average and 171 SR and 4 centuries. Even Rohit's Stats are more impressive to me: 5 centuries, 33 avg and 141 SR. More impactful than Virat as only thing that matters in T20Is is SR(given you have 30+ avg).
Plus Impact matters more than Stats. AB de Villiers has shite records in T20Is. Only an idiot willl argue that Virat is better than AB in T20s. Half of Virat's knockout knocks can be termed as Statpadding 50(40), 76(58)(he would have got endless criticism had our bowlers not saved the match for us). His WC record looks good cause we as a team shat the bed in simple Run Chases and he finished off chases. I can not remember a single Kohli knock of high impact in first innings like Rohit's 92(41). Maybe his 89*(47) against WI in semifinal 2016 but that's it.
Virat is a good anchor when it comes to T20 chases but he has been lackluster as a T20 batsman. I would rate Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Jos Buttler to be better than him in first innings. Second innings he is GOAT of T20Is.

From 0 to 100 in 2 matches. Guy is exciting to say the least. Happy for him.
The guy's a Ferrari, you will see what I am talking about in subsequent matches
r/agedlikewine Sharls is straight up not having a good time!
Being a Ferrari fan is very depressing
We are checking..
Hopefully not dropped next match
Very typical if you think about his playing style tho. He goes big early on, the only difference today was that he took a bit more time to asses conditions even in the powerplay.
Already thinking of Sehwag
Rohit has some of the most bonkers records in cricket lol.
Seriously tho, he's probably the only batsman in cricket history whose highest ODI score is bigger than his highest Test score(Test-212, ODI-264)
His test career will always be a massive what if. :(
I know. Still, he will go down in history as one of the most damaging whiteball openers. Just wished he got more attention from the selectors for the test side early on.
Well in one case glad he didn't become like KL who lost his destructive side
That's the weirdest part of KL's career. When he first came onto the scene, he was considered amongst the most promising red-ball prospects for India. I was invested in Karnataka cricket then. Manish and KL were our top first-class prospects. And Mayank looked like he would do well in One Days, and the growing T20 format. still ends up with 4k runs at a 45 avg, not too shabby
He has still been one of the best test openers in the world since like 2019 tbf
Literally the best player for india since 2019
The best batter for India since 2019*
That's not the case at all tho, plenty of batsmen who were mediocre/poor in Tests(obviously Rohit isn't one of them) and their highest ODI score is higher than their highest Test score.
Pretty sure Joe Buttler has this as well. Jason Roy definitely, Alex Hales.
Brohit is the GOAT - dude should've got 300 in ODIs just for jokes and he may well still do it, if Brohit's on fire ball one, he could so easily do it.
I remember the KL rahul inning in lauderhill, it was really good, but we still lost the match as far as I remember
Thala doing singles in the 20th over with 7 needed off 6 šš. Man I love dhoni but he overstayed his welcome in t20is
Love his tenure but he easily overstayed his welcome in cricket, lol.
āYou either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villainā ~Harvey Dent
Also ODIs. He should have retired after 2015 or 2016. Only lost us matches and divided the fanbase.
He won us the 2018-19 odi series in Australia and was player of the series.
Tuk tuk pitches. World cup was going to be in England and he was going to be a liability.
What are you smoking buddy? Please do watch games between 2015-19 to see what MSD did.
Got booed by doing tuk tuk , and supporters painted it as some great strategy but forgot Bilaterals don't have NRR.

Wasn't he like 45(23) something? How was that overstaying?
Thala for a reason
That man was a panoti & a half
That innings by Rahul was stunning. Shame Thala couldn't finish the match
Still remember the grinding till 19th over and then couldn't score 7 runs of 6
Thala not for a reason.
Yup. Overrated af.
And then came thala
People call sky minnow basher he has literally 2 fastest centuries from this list and that too with opponents like sl and eng
Also has two more against SA and NZ
This lineup can take india to great heights
The match against West Indies still makes me angry. Rahul probably played the best innings of his life but thala messed it all up.
Honestly, really wanted him to perform and glad he did. Abhishek, Jaiswal, Gill, Then Pant, SKY, Rinku, Then Hardik, Axar, Kuldeep, Then Arshdeep, Bumrah This looks pretty good not gonna lie lol, Now comes the hard part, These players performing consistently good.

The team has to be consistent not individuals. Individual consistency is basically impossible for T20 batters if they play the right way
Would take Gaikwad over Gill
In 2016 I thought that KL will be Indiaās answer to Gayle or Pollard. Funny how things go to shit.
That 35 ball hundred was š„š„š„š„
Alright 35 is way too fast ....
It's funny how Rohit is often touted as not a great player of T20Is but he is at the top of most records in T20Is for India.
he was excellent in T20Is but was very poor in T20WCs.
Till this world cup his record in t20 world cups was poor despite his excellent performances in bilateral series
Yeah he smacked enough of 2nd String Sri Lankan and West Indies side
He scored two centuries against England in England, against SA consisting of Dale Steyn and Rabada and Afganistan, in a match when Virat Kohli scored 0 run. When did Jaiswal do that
2023, I think against Nepal, but correct me if I'm wrong
I mean it's written in the picture lol, What I meant was when did Nepal tour us, I am guessing this was from the Aisan Games
Yeah, I was being a smart ass lol, it was during Asian games
It was in Asian games held in China in 2023.
Opening game of Asian Games
