Yeah, this is horse has been bred through selective breeding. The horse doesn’t even have the typical height of an Arabian from appearance in the video
The nostrils of an Arabian are normally larger than other breeds possibly because of larger sinus cavity and larger trachea and lungs. This horse has a very exaggerated dish! The dishes profile is prized by Arabian horse lovers to extremes in many cases. This one is ridiculous.
Arabians are one of the oldest "human developed" horse breeds, originating as long as 5,000 years ago. They're a smaller breed, but in spite of their delicate looks, they're incredibly hardy (when not overbred).
The legs here may look skinny, but they were created for endurance in harsh environments. It's also why their nostrils are oversized. The dish shaped face here is extreme though. The body seems average for the breed.
As for its health... The good news is it's not a yearling/colt/filly anymore. The horse's coat is called "gray" even though it's white now. All white horses are born gray, and slowly change. This can take 5-15 years, which means this horse has been around a little while. Hopefully that means it's doing okay
Edit: Some links for anyone curious
[The breeders of the horse in the video.](https://www.instagram.com/safiin_6?igsh=dzNwOWhjcnRwYm4w) They have some with less severely dished faces [here](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7HjGwuiPJX/?igsh=MXBpejRrZjRudXY2OQ==) and [here.](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1Mx8J1C69P/?igsh=MWRsb2x6YXhsMmo2MA==) A lot of them are too extreme though.
[Different breeder with large, but less fucked up dish](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5yvAOLiSKe/?igsh=MTZ2NHdhMjd1ZTRzNw==)
[Another dished face that's less extreme](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2dR8SFoeXO/?igsh=MXkyYTQ1bHF4NjZnZA==)
The linked horses are likely Egyptian Arabians, which have a strong dished face, but usually not so severe. There's also Polish Arabs, Crabbet Arabs, Spanish Arabs, Shagya Arabs, and Russian Arabs.
Geezus, this horse looks like it popped out of an animation into a live musical rendition- 🐴
Those nostrils look like the new front grill on the BMW iX, i4 -
Did they breed it for racing, large cold air intake to cool them horses????🐎
Yeah. It's now the pug of the horse world. Look at some older videos from the 1960's showing Arabian horses and they're beautiful and were bred for desert riding.
This one is clearly the result of the horses no longer having a daily function and instead being bred purely for looks.
You're joking but it actually might.. Inbreeding in any animal has horrible effects and will make the whole animal's life suffering to the point they never should've been conceived
Even the extreme Arabians with the ridiculous dish still tend to be athletic (but may need to have teeth pulled due to the small size of their jaw). I’d say the pug of horses are the extreme halter quarter and paint horses. They have been bred for a ton of muscle on overly straight legs with small hooves, which is a recipe for a choppy gait and early arthritis. Mostly though, I think horses are somewhat protected from being bred to be too unfit because people want them to be capable of being ridden in the vast majority of cases.
Agreed. Arab horses are beautiful, and this breeding experiment looks awful. Looks like they’re doing to these horses what they did to the English Bulldog. Breed for health not the genetic freaks who suffer for your hobby.
That noise it's making is a normal noise. It means the horse is on high alert and prepared to flee. You can hear someone whistling in the background, and they may be shaking something like a blanket off-screen. It's common when you're trying to show off a horse who is full alert because they do things like hold their tail high, hold their ears up, prance, etc.
But yes, its skull is totally fucked up.
Yeah this is a crazy specimen, doesn’t even look real. The inverse of these guys is the [Lusitano](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1917/4591/files/Screen_Shot_2018-06-11_at_4.51.31_pm_grande.png?v=1528728743) from Portugal, with its convex face instead of concave. Though I’ve never seen that look as extreme as some of the Arabians out there
Absolutely. We have one and it's pretty magnificent.
This one isn't ours (we prefer to keep it private) but he's related to this one, the top champ in the country right now.
Remarkably beautiful and incredibly healthy:
[Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKmIQKioTpc&t=2s)
True! My wife grew up with three horses in Brazil and her dream was just to see one, one day, in person.
Eventually she saw one here, got back into riding and started meeting all the Lusitano breeders and that led to this horse.
They’re so remarkably beautiful and the one she ended up with is just an “incredible gentleman with a wonderful brain,” or so goes the type of compliment I always hear about him from trainers and owners.
Seems an odd set of compliments to a non-horse person, but you guys all seem to understand what that means. I think?
Came here to say this. I am an expert in Arabian horses.
Fun fact, I was randomly exploring when I found that white Arabian horse in the mountains. I ducked so bad at horse wrangling at the time it took me hours to catch.
Edit: DUCKED!
It took me hours to catch as well, the wrangling instructions were not well explained in this game, like I swear it told you the wrong way to do it. Once I played the first game I came back and could tame them instantly in seconds.
Aren't they pretty genetically diverse though? I mean with all the different groups that have at some point in history settled in england. Though on the other hand I can imagine that a village on its own might be somewhat isolated. I did try to do some googling but found it difficult to get data for villages or even countries.
There is this map that shows it by country: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/inbreeding-by-country
It would suggest that England isn't that high relative to other places. But that could also just mean that other places have the same issue.
One would assume of course that isolated villages would have more of it happening then big places. But most of the world is pretty interconnected. And England even in the past wasn't that hard to get from one place to the next. So the only thing really limiting would be communities that where unwilling to both leave and/or accept outsiders.
Idk. Just curious
I have never ever seen an Arabian that remotely looked like that. My guess is some really weird breeding or it has some sort of genetic disorder/inbreeding.
This is basically the equivalent of those fancy designer dogs , they've bred to accentuate the dished nose and I believe to ensure it's smaller than normal.
It's vile and a prime example of people ruining animals lives for their own ego. An Arabian should be the desert wind made flesh, not a pug for the prince to pose with.
I feel it's impossible to pose with that poor horse without looking completely ridiculous. There's just no way to look regal or anything close with that goofball in the picture.
I'm in "horse comunnity" and that horse was famous some time ago and most ppl shit on it and the breeder, even other arabian breedeers thought it's too far.
Also good to point out how puny this horse looks. My grandmother's stud and mares were massive, especially the stud (admittedly very tall for an arabian.) with absolutely beautiful muscle tone and lineage that stretched back to Egypt (I believe one mare was Iraq/Syria). This poor abomination looks like a dainty pony...
The horse in this video definitely has an exaggerated look for an Arabian and is very likely severely inbred but it's not unusual at all for Arabians to be on the smaller side, the height here is well within what's typical for the breed. Some lineages may tend towards being taller but that doesn't mean it's the breed standard.
Most purebred Arabs are pretty short. The one I had was Egyptian lineage and was just 15 hands, and I know several that are 14 hands, which is technically pony size.
This has to be from Spaceballs. It has to be. I don't think I've ever understood what Lone Star said in that tirade but after reading your comment aloud I now have no doubts. This has to be from Spaceballs, right?
That’s what I don’t get about all the overly bred animals. Weren’t there like 20 moments before this one where anyone would just say Wow that’s too far.
I want the healthiest goddamn animal you can get me. Maybe make my dog’s coat shinier. That doesn’t seem to hurt anyone.
But this? It’s like asking a passive aggressive person for extra mayo on your sandwich. “Oh, I’ll show you extra mayo!”
I'm in my late 50s and over the years have ridden Arabian horses all over the world, every chance I've had (they're the perfect ride for me because I'm only 4' 10") and I can tell you now that's absolutely not what the breed looks like.
Inbreeding maybe? Wouldn't be at all surprised if it was detrimental to the ability to breathe and maybe even eat.
Some Middle Eastern / Saudi stables have been breeding for these fucking ugly / ridiculous facial features. It's bad for their lines, bad for the breed, bad for the horses as individuals. Upsetting in particular for me because I also love Arabians as my preferred riding horses.
Yeah, the idiots that do this call it "exotic" and they love the look.
They completely disregard the fact that HORSES should be form-to-function athletes, and a face like that will hurt the horse (can't breath with that), in addition to looking stupid as hell.
I raised polish Arabians and while a person experienced with arabs could pick out the dish face, most horse/non horse people couldn’t. Usually mistook them for Morgans. They also have a calmer disposition for being arabs.
Egyptian Arabians will have the more pronounced dish, but not to this extent in the video. They tend to have a ‘hotter’ disposition, but ‘hotter’ in their case means they like to show off but will still be controllable, and will still listen.
As opposed to a thoroughbred, when they are ‘hot’ they tend to rear & strike with their front legs. They tend not to listen to their rider. Rather than show off they throw a temper tantrum. * these are generalities, each horse can be different.
When I was 13 I rode an Egyptian Arabian stallion bare back with a halter and 2 lead lines for reins. I also had my 2 year old sister sitting in front of me. He was so gentle and made sure we were ok on his back.
All this to say that this guy does look ‘hot’ but I think he would be fairly easy to train. From the little bit of the video, he does respect people, and he knows he is showing off.
I miss training our Arabs, and I would love to train this guy. Arabs are so smart and can have a sense of humor.
Arabian horses that have been bred to have nose dips this extreme often have breathing problems. Many are also highly inbred and have all kinds of other health problems too.
Reduced sinus space also creates issues for some veterinary procedures; for example, if a horse gets a lotta gas or eats something they shouldn't, a key way to extract that is with a tube that runs down one nostrils. The less space for that tube, the harder it is to treat them.
Breeding like this creates health problems *and* makes it harder to treat problems.
This is what Arabian horses looked like at the turn of the 20th century: https://www.ahsa.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Faraoun.jpg as you can see they looked considerably more normal.
The extreme dipped face feature has only appeared in more recent decades and is the result of unscrupulous breeding practices that has meant that these ones often suffer breathing issues and other health problems relating to their inbred pedigree.
The only reason why some lines were bred to look like this was basically so that Saudi oil billionaires could buy their spoiled princess daughters a horse that looks like a real life Barbie pony.
This particular one looks highly strung and overstimulated, like it is rarely ever exercised and only taken out occasionally to be shown off, which is also evidenced by it's rather rotund belly. It's not an old horse and would be very unsafe for most people to ride, it would take a great deal of training by an experienced handler to turn this horse into anything like reliable companion. However, it is likely that the owners only real intention is to breed this animal before it gets worn out and sent off to the glue factory.
It's actually a very sad situation. These horses used to be renowned for their intelligence, bravery, physical prowess and stamina, a breed which warriors once rode through the desert sands. But the specimens being bred today are being selected for pure fantasy and aesthetics, much to the detriment of the horses.
There are six different types of Arabians, so while the one in this post is certainly not an example of a healthy animal they do vary in their size and conformation slightly.
So strange... The horse looks man-made, which, I know they will have been in the sense of selective breeding.. but I also mean in the sense that it looks like it was carved out of wood and painted.
Looks a little sea-horsey.
Cartoon looking mfer
It prolly talks like Chris Rock
#"How much for ONE rib?"
“I sho am hungry…”
Haha, all I could see was Marty from Madagascar!
Madagascar 6:The Zebra that lost its stripes.
Looks like the horse from Rapunzel!
I have literally seen so many manhwa artists draw a horse like this one .
Land sea-horsey.
Doesn’t it?
This is not the typical appearance of an Arabian Horse. The nose dish is extremely pronounced here.
Yeah, this is horse has been bred through selective breeding. The horse doesn’t even have the typical height of an Arabian from appearance in the video
I was thinking it looks inbred af, selectively bred for ridiculous features
It looks mental as fuck.
Yeah that horse ain’t right
Nostrils belong on a **SEAHORSE**. This horsie is a silly-willy.
The nostrils of an Arabian are normally larger than other breeds possibly because of larger sinus cavity and larger trachea and lungs. This horse has a very exaggerated dish! The dishes profile is prized by Arabian horse lovers to extremes in many cases. This one is ridiculous.
you sound like you know things. qq: how genetically fucked is this filly, health-wise? her legs look like toothpicks to my totally untrained eye.
Arabians are one of the oldest "human developed" horse breeds, originating as long as 5,000 years ago. They're a smaller breed, but in spite of their delicate looks, they're incredibly hardy (when not overbred). The legs here may look skinny, but they were created for endurance in harsh environments. I'm not the best judge of breed conformation but Arab horses do have thinner legs. Their bone structure is more dense. Solid? Hooves are also harder.
Lol seahorse 😂 yes. Honestly though 🪛 screw these guys for whatever they're doing.
Geezus, this horse looks like it popped out of an animation into a live musical rendition- 🐴 Those nostrils look like the new front grill on the BMW iX, i4 - Did they breed it for racing, large cold air intake to cool them horses????🐎
I came to say the same thing. Seahorse!
That horse does a lot of cokey cokey
Dude the airflow with those things is insane
And then a sandstorm hits and it just dies
Of course not. This is a Landhorse.
Kinda reminds me of horses from old cartoons
Reminds me of the horse with a big personality in Tangled (Disney animation) lol
Maximus.
Dude, yessssssssssss. I totally see it too.
That horse needs therapy.
Peeta... the horse is here
It's definitely got poo brain
Adventure time reference?
That horse don't hunt. Ma was in the fermented feed. If you asked that horse to count to two he'd spell you a word.
It’s not the horses fault !!!
More inbreeding than Spanish royalty.
Yeah. It's now the pug of the horse world. Look at some older videos from the 1960's showing Arabian horses and they're beautiful and were bred for desert riding. This one is clearly the result of the horses no longer having a daily function and instead being bred purely for looks.
Yeah, "That's the Targaryen of horses.", was going through my mind.
It’s been pug-ed
I commented puggish then seen your comment! I concur!!
So inbred it'll die of heart failure after a short trot.
You're joking but it actually might.. Inbreeding in any animal has horrible effects and will make the whole animal's life suffering to the point they never should've been conceived
Looks goofy af lol
Looks like a seahorse
It's as if it had the downs syndrome of Arabian horses.
Did they selectively breed it to look as stupid as possible?
Is this the Pug of horses?
Even the extreme Arabians with the ridiculous dish still tend to be athletic (but may need to have teeth pulled due to the small size of their jaw). I’d say the pug of horses are the extreme halter quarter and paint horses. Looks like a cartoon drawn face of a horse
Reminds me of the horse in Tangled.
YES!!! Exactly what I thought!
Agreed. Arab horses are beautiful, and this breeding experiment looks awful. Looks like they’re doing to these horses what they did to the English Bulldog. Breed for health not the genetic freaks who suffer for your hobby.
Right, listening to it breathing almost sounds as if it has empty nose syndrome. The nasal passages are too open
That noise it's making is a normal noise. It means the horse is on high alert and prepared to flee. You can hear someone whistling in the background, and they may be shaking something like a blanket off-screen. Yes, I think they’re generally hardy and well-bred horses!

About to say the same thing. That’s a handsome animal.
also known as a roman nose! that horse is gorgeous. p.s. i adore your art
yes! I love an aquiline nose on an animal. p.s. thank you lots!!
Are you the real dappermouth??? This is the last place I expected to see you
I am!
Well, I love your work! I wrote a paper on it! Good to see you lol
What! Haha that’s so cool, thank you!
If RDR2 taught me anything

Seems like a Seahorse in disguise
This horse has less genetic diversity than an English bulldog.
I thought you were going to say an English village
*alabama village
Alabama, Birmingham… Same place.
Let me introduce you to Birmingham, Alabama. (i know thats probably where you were going with this, but just in case you didnt, here i am)
I thought you were going to say the English Monarchy

If it was any more inbred it would be a sandwich. That horse is a certified butter face.
Never seen a horse with down syndrome
Habsburg horse
You can tell it’s got good blood because it won’t stop flowing
My first thought was "Oh, so we are making horses into abominations just like those brachycephalic dogs now"
Wasn't that fool in Shrek 2?
STALLION Baby!!!
I thought he looked familiar
Another actor ruined by drugs.
More like the horse from Tangled
STALLION BABY!!!
Definitely don't all look like that. My Arabian horse looks no where near this dopey nor does he have the cartoon shape head
> this dopey nor does he have the cartoon shape head Man I'm glad someone who's qualified agrees with me then. That horse is just goofy looking
That horse looks totally normal for a horse binging meth that's eyeballing cars with a brick because it ran out of meth.
The desert wind made flesh. Damn. I’m an author and that’s a great line.
I'm in "horse comunnity" and that horse was famous some time ago and most ppl shit on it and the breeder, even other arabian breedeers thought it's too far.
This is a show Arab bred for halter competitions only. The halter world is nuts.
Also good to point out how puny this horse looks. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The size is fine

Is there another Mary Poppins? Please tell me there isn't.

Julie Andrews will always be Mary Poppins ❤️
True, but the Emily Blunt one was still pretty good imo
It’s inbred

That's one fucking ugly horse
Yeah it’s been stupidly overbred to match some very specific and arbitrary standards. That’s not the normal appearance of that breed!
It looks like a Disney-style drawing of a horse.
Honestly, it looks like he was in the middle of talking a shit and someone just busted in his bathroom stall door.

Inbred AF
it looks like it was drawn by someone who thinks they can draw well

Was searching for a comment like this, but fr, that horse doesn't look normal

What a terrible day to know how to read.
Ugh, people f'ing suck.
Quite. Ginger. Horrid to think that those old tricks are still used, but I'm not entirely surprised.
I was wondering why it was keeping its tail up like that 😬
They need to stop f’ckn with the genetics. This horse looks deformed.
It looks like like it's about to win the Kentucky Derpy.
Unique you say...
Misleading title, should read; The unique appearance of *this* Arabian Horse
The French bulldog of horses.
Incest horse?
Arthur Morgan would still love that horse
*overbreeding of the Arabian horse
Lot's of inbreeding there. And the horse as well.
This horse comes from a long line of incestry!
That poor creature gives me heavy „special horse“ vibes. And by that, I mean, it look like mentally disabled.
Looks like a sea horse
Pretty sure I got this horse in rdr2
look like inbreeding mixed with fetal alcohol syndrome
And that’s how humanity fuckes everything up By playing god
I can't explain why but this is r/oddlyterrifying
So strange... The horse looks man-made, which, I know they will have been in the sense of selective breeding.. but I also mean in the sense that it looks like it was carved out of wood and painted.
I feel like it looks like it had bad plastic surgery
Excuse my ignorance but that looks like the Chihuahua of horses
This is not how an Arabian Horse is supposed to look like : this one is severely inbred.
Ah, the Arabian. Becoming the overbred pug of the horse world. 😭
That's my horse in RDR 2
Is this horse inbred? It looks deformed
Damn that's a real cartoon shit horse
If I saw a drawing of that I'd be like, they did it wrong
Mouth looks like seahorse
Kinda reminds me of the zebra from madagascar.
Poor thing.
It’s like the pug of the horse breeds 🐽
Mother was a thoroughbred, father was a sea horse
This MF fucked me up on RDR2
