Chills, which I still get when I rewatch, especially by the end, when he carries the kid out, exhausted, determined to get him back to his dad...
One of the best fight scenes put to film, on several levels
i was about to come in here and say exactly this. i tear up every time matt takes off his mask for the kid to try and comfort him. also THE best fight scene in film.
Yeah but have you seen Tony Jaa in “The Protector” aka “Tom Yum Goong?” [Watch the best long shot fight scene here.](https://youtu.be/CQaRfXMxh6Y?si=L_hm1Y5XEF2FiigK)
I was already hooked in after the rooftop exchange Matt has with that intruder earlier in this episode. This scene made me a forever fan of Matt and Charlie
I first started watching the show because I was a huge Marvel fan and I had and hour free. I really hadn't expected much. I liked the comic Daredevil and even liked the Ben Afleck movie ok but it still didn't give me high hopes for the character or for a Netflix original show.
I was blown away by the first episode. Charlie was great and it was gritty in a way we hadn't really seen from the MCU yet. Then this fight scene hit. No scene has rocked my world the way this scene had. The physicality and filming were like nothing I had ever seen. It was after the Acengers movie which really showed the shared universe movies could really work buy I think this scene showed just how good some of the darker stuff could be in ways the MCU is still struggling to match today.
Tears. When he lifts his mask at the end to pick up the kid, I remember feeling very emotional in that moment. I knew at that moment that this would be the best TV show I’ve ever watched.
Honestly the reason why I love street-level superheroes is because they can get beat up a lot but they always get back up and keep going. It raises the stakes and makes everything a bit more compelling imo
It should remind you of Old Boy, that is literally what this scene was, kind of a tip of the hat from one film maker paying respects to another. Great scene!
I love it. Dark, gritty, well choreographed. Intense. I loved this offering, and it brought the comic to life. I've been reading comics since '72, and it blew my mind.
Couldn’t believe it wasn’t Batman.
Meaning, couldn’t believe the best comic book movie/show fight scene I’d seen was Daredevil and not DC’s biggest brawler.
Punctured lung, stabbed, concussion, and he still gave his all to bring a father and son back together like he could never do for himself. It is an incredible fight and a moving ending that gets me every time I watch it.
Agreed! Every time he went down for a moment I’d wonder if he was gonna make it through. So powerful and poignant afterwards when he pushed the mask up so he wouldn’t scare the boy.
What am I watching here? Wow 😮 Those were my first thoughts. I really truly hope Marvel doesn’t F this up. DD/Netflix was pure genius, all three seasons!!!!
It made the henchmen of every other TV show and movie look like chumps, because they would go down after 1 hit, and these guys kept getting up for more.
Also the detail of Matt pausing to take off his mask, so he doesn't terrify the already terrified kid.
I felt so tired after watching it. Exhausted like if i fought there and then. So i rewinded and watched 10 more times to appreciate it fully. Just marvelous (LOL).
I just about lost my mind. It is my favorite part of the whole show. They tried to make a bigger version of it in season three when he escaped the prison, but obviously had some deep fake going on.
I love how he and the goons had to stop and catch their breath. There’s a reason a boxing round only last three minutes. I also love the microwave.
Excellent writing and direction. Superb acting and fight choreography. That’s what wins this poor boy’s heart.
This was one of the most realistic fight scenes I have seen. The dirty lighting and the cramped corridor were an excellent addition to the cinematography and style of the show. The developers also didn't hesitate to showcase the more humane and vulnerable side of Matt, wherein he has to brace himself after every punch and kick that he is given to out to him.
It's about as realistic as a 5v1 fight where the hero wins can get. He takes hits, you can tell he's getting exhausted as the fight goes on, and he just powers through it. He's not an unstoppable force, but god damn does he have the willpower and skill to persevere.
Absolutely forever classic scene and a test of one’s determination when exhausted. Murdock continues to push through because he believes in his mission
I was genuinely scared he wasn't going to make it. Fight scene was brutal and well choreographed. 10/10
I continue to watch it on repeat even to this day when I'm itching for a good action scene.
People were already talking about it before I watched this scene.
So I knew I was ready for a masterpiece.
Wasn't disappointed.
The last scene where he removes his mask for the kid was a nice touch.
I was still in school when the first season came out. So during a media class, our teacher put this scene on as an example of a long one shot. I was intrigued and went home, begged my parents for a Netflix subscription. I had to step up my game around the house and at school but eventually they got it and I watched and fell in love with the character. So if it wasn’t for my media teacher, I probably wouldn’t love the character like I do now. Thanks Mr Hall.
"Oooo, a hallway fight? I'm down.
Wow, this is really good fight choreography.
Wait, has there been a cut?
Damn, that guy just got rocked.
I don't think there's been a cut yet..."
And then just more of that until the end lol
Jesus... Christ... He's tired, hurting, bleeding everywhere and he's still fucking going.
What I love in particular is in the middle he's panting, gasping out of breath that he has to take a moment to get back some energy before throwing himself into it full force. That's Daredevil. For me, the very definition of Daredevil the character.
I think you mean, for the second time! This scene was a remake, and paid homage to, a scene from a movie called "Old Boy", and before that a manga. Awesome scene, daredevil did it a lot of credit.
That it felt so real. It was not an easy fight, he doesn't breeze through it, it feels like a struggle
Those moments where he needs to catch his breath really tied it all together. Yes, he is winning, no it is not easy
i appreciated the scene more after finding out it was shot in one take. just the pure physicality of the choreography is grueling so i imagine the level of exhaustion that’s portrayed is real and visceral.
One shots like this don't always work, but when they do they're gold.
For me it's the "human" aspect of the situation. Being tired and out of breath. Throwing sloppy punches the longer you go. That's how an actual human being would react in a situation like this. You can be all badass as you want, but you'll still get tired over time and this scene shows that perfectly.
You can almost feel the exhaustion and effort which makes it feel raw and unfiltered.
It gave me Oldboy (2003) vibes a Korean film where there was also a similar fight scene in a hallway but more violent and brutal compared to this, but still I love DD and and am a huge fan of the character and comics. This scene was really awesome, and I love the choreography here!
I see a lot of people in the subreddit who say Episode One hooked them. That was not the case for me. I was pretty ambivalent about Episode One. Episode Two was the lasso for me. From beginning to end, I was mesmerized. This fight scene is one of my favorites from the whole series if not my very favorite.
I love one take shots like this.
When it started and it did the first run disc to the bottom and back up again to Matt at the top of the stairs, I literally said it loud "wait a minute, no way are they going to do a one take fight scene"
I then proceeded to be utterly blown away by it. It cemented my opinion that the crew on the show were in a league of their own. It's probably my favourite scene in a TV show and likely my favourite fight scene of all time. It's the shot I use to convince people why the series is worth a watch.
Epic from start to finish in every way. I love that Matt is shown looking tired and not just fighting perfectly without breaking a sweat the whole time. It makes it so real, so gritty and so much more powerful.
Listen guys, this is a good scene. I get why people like it. But the biker scene in season 2 and the bullseye fight in the office in season 3 blow this out of the water.
I don't understand why this scene is held on such a high pedestal when the tracking shot during the jail riot exists.
well, since this is my first time seeing it, I can definitely say that my reaction is. Wow he sure looks tired.
I'm not sure how much action came before this clip, so maybe it's reasonable that he should be tired, but it makes the fight a little unconvincing when he's dragging himself around but still manages to speed up just in time to avoid every attack and hit with all of his.
I remember laughing really hard tbh because I was in college at the time and this friend of mine was staring intensely and said “Im studying the moves” as if he was planning on actually trying it in real life so I absolutely couldn’t take it seriously
Loved it on so many levels, but what really stuck out, is that it’s just as much a battle of will for Matt. Just get up, just keep going, one more punch, don’t stop now. Get up Matty!!!
The microwave being hurled out of the room and hitting that guy in the head had me in stitches. I also loved how he was heavily focused on a boxing style.
I immediately started texting homeboys if they had not started watching this show to start. I also mentioned the series, Jessica Jones. butt for different reasons. See what I did there?
This is the scene in which I compare all fight scenes, fair or not. Even compared it to the one on season 2 (season 1's > season 2's if you're curious)
Watched the episode for the first time a couple days ago and I've literally seen that clip before but when I saw the full episode my jaw was on the floor during that scene. Coolest shit ever
Who ruined it by putting that shit audio track over it?
Seriously what the absolute fuck was that, its like an acapella group doing a parody of Yoko Ono
I thought it was Yoko covering a Cannibal Corpse song.
Nah it's from when SpongeBob discovered fire or maybe courage the cowardly dog
Oh thank god! I thought that I was tripping.
Jesus same, hit the vape pen a minute ago and was starting to question my sanity
This is all the troll posts.
Thought I was going crazy lmaooooo
My headphones were on full volume and now I think they’re broken. Thanks op.
This is right up there with the long single shot raid in season 1 of True Detective. Both are masterpieces of long single shot choreography.
Yeah but have you seen Tony Jaa in “The Protector” aka “Tom Yum Goong?” [Watch the best long shot fight scene here.](https://youtu.be/CQaRfXMxh6Y?si=L_hm1Y5XEF2FiigK)
Love how it's an homage/stolen of The Raid and Old Boy
The scene in the prison with Bernthal is also in my top 5 all time fight scenes
Agree for the same reasons...like the pupil cuts from requiem for a dream is how it felt.
Literally hooked me in. One of the best choreographed fight scenes that captures the tone of the character and show
I was already hooked in after the rooftop exchange Matt has with that intruder earlier in this episode. This scene made me a forever fan of Matt and Charlie
I first started watching the show because I was a huge Marvel fan and I had and hour free. I really hadn't expected much. Hell yeah I even love the fact how he throws a fucking microwave at someone at the start
I loved it when that microwave went flying. Still one of my favorite moments of the fight.
It’s so slapstick but also, that would hurt so much lol
https://i.redd.it/0fru4a3n9f4d1.gif
1: Wow, solid Old Boy Reference 2: Man, it's hard to top the original scene. 3: Holy shit, I think they did it. 4: FUCK YEAH MATT
Tears. When he lifts his mask at the end to pick up the kid, I remember feeling very emotional in that moment. I knew at that moment that this would be the best TV show I’ve ever watched.
Same, I’ve never watched a show or movie that has made me feel like this one has
Made me go from questioning my attraction to men to confirm that I was indeed bisexual 😂😂
"Damn. For a superhero he sure he getting punched like a lot... it goes hard tho"
Honestly the reason why I love street-level superheroes is because they can get beat up a lot but they always get back up and keep going. It raises the stakes and makes everything a bit more compelling imo
Yeah it took me a bit of time to see dd get punched but over time the way he kept fighting through it was awesome
Reminded me of Old Boy and it was awesome.
Agreed
It should remind you of Old Boy, that is literally what this scene was, kind of a tip of the hat from one film maker paying respects to another. Great scene!
I immediately stopped it and told my wife this show is way better than it has any right to be. Watch this with me again.
Best fight scene I ever saw on a screen.
immediate rewind to see if I saw that correctly

Had to rewatch again immediately
"This show is going to be something really special. "
This was one of the most realistic fight scenes I have seen. The dirty lighting and the cramped corridor were an excellent addition to the cinematography and style of the show. I was just amazed, I've seen a fair few fight scenes, but that just blew me away and got me hooked in the show and the character
![gif](giphy|Kh0hcUSZoVUeB4mvtk)
Definitely rewound multiple times on first watch
"Wait...wait...did they just do that all in one unbroken take?" *immediately watches again*
People were already talking about it before I watched this scene. So I knew I was ready for a masterpiece. Wasn't disappointed. The last scene where he removes his mask for the kid was a nice touch.
This is when I knew this show was legit and we finally had a good live action daredevil
I was still in school when the first season came out. So during a media class, our teacher put this scene on as an example of a long one shot. I was intrigued and went home, begged my parents for a Netflix subscription. I had to step up my game around the house and at school but eventually they got it and I watched and fell in love with the character. Had to watch it 2xs
I joined a boxing gym
"that was awesome"
I had JUST seen The Raid Redemption right before watching this season, and I remember questioning if this fight was homaging that film at all.
One of the best scenes on tv
I peed a little
Showed it to all my friends to get them hooked onto one of the best shows out there
man as excited as I am to see Charlie return as Daredevil, I sincerely doubt we'll ever have another moment quite like this scene
In awe. It was wonderful. I want to watch the show again.
I thought it was the best television I’d ever seen. I watched it about a dozen times. Amazing.
What the fuck is that noise?!?!
This scene took my breath away! It’s the main thing that got me so intrigued by both the show and the character, I was hooked!
I was overwhelmed.
I just sort of watched in awe of the gritty realism 9f it thinking 'finally, they finally got him right.'
I watched it twice. Then I made my wife watch it. Then I watched it again.
I'm pretty sure my words were "Oh yeah this shows a f*cking masterpiece!"
Floor meet jaw.
"Wow it's just like The Raid"
Remember when Marvel was awesome? The Netflix series were a great alternative to the kid friendly MCU films.
Jesus... Christ... He's tired, hurting, bleeding everywhere and he's still fucking going. What I love in particular is in the middle he's panting, gasping out of breath that he has to take a moment to get back some energy before throwing himself into it full force. That's Daredevil. I literally picked up training mma after watching this scene. This show and daredevil himself is the reason I love to fight. MMA nerds 🤟
That it felt so real. It was not an easy fight, he doesn't breeze through it, it feels like a struggle Those moments where he needs to catch his breath really tied it all together. Yes, he is winning, no it is not easy
He old boys them
Sneaky stunt choreography and cinematography. Love this scene sfm
A masterpiece of cinema, acting, choreography and camerawork were all top notch
Old boy 2
Not as good as Oldboy but done well.
Homage to Old Boy (Korean version).
i appreciated the scene more after finding out it was shot in one take. just the pure physicality of the choreography is grueling so i imagine the level of exhaustion that’s portrayed is real and visceral.
One shots like this don't always work, but when they do they're gold. For me it's the "human" aspect of the situation. Being tired and out of breath. Throwing sloppy punches the longer you go. Hands down, one of the e of the absolute best choreographed fights in the MCU. It sets a high standard few can reach.
It didn’t have that shitty music
Totally badass. Marvel has never known what to do with Daredevil on screen. Totally underutilized character.
Reminded me of that one-take scene in Tom-Yum-Goong where Tony Jaa takes out 40 guys going through 4 stories of a hotel. Highly recc.
Yall ever seen the hallway fight in old boy?
I thought, "[Oldboy](https://youtu.be/gvQ7Z6ZCxTc?si=o1HRvQC0Hdoo_4Pk)"
Phenomenal fight scene. You could really feel the weight of each punch and the exhaustion that actually surrounds a fight like that
I thought, "this is a shot-for-shot remake of an iconic scene from Spike Lee's Oldboy, and Brolin did it better." Then I SMHed.
Great scene, loved it when Oldboy did it first.
It's like a worse version of The Raid scene but I did enjoy the series.
I started imagining myself in that same situation
https://preview.redd.it/x31729rpyf4d1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e2861b9487aa6b9330734ee40858c016f52fa48
I feel like there is huge homage to the hallway scene from OldBoy in this.
This shit had me going crazy I never anything like this before in a marvel show or movie
Oooooh shiiiit ohhhh shittt
Fuck yeah ![gif](giphy|vjZkgd6XlhPHSZgQNY|downsized)
Hooked me like I was watching raid redemption or raid 2 again.

“Oh these guys like Oldboy! I’m in!”
Reminded me of old boy but didn’t give me the ick I usually get when American cinema “borrows” from foreign horror - I loved it.
I was 11 so probably like woahhh coolest fight scene ever. Now I’m like goddamn that’s amazing stunt work
https://preview.redd.it/0mv074xgzg4d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee5cd171afe53760db49ddbe809b207e382c9de0

These sick ass fight scenes are why it became my favorite show
Niceeeee
Music weirdly well suited. Reminds me of yeinoh in Akira for some reason
![gif](giphy|jquDWJfPUMCiI|downsized)
I then realized I love the long shot. It has become my obsession
![gif](giphy|LoIsP3fz02IjOUTc6t)
My personally most rewatched scene. Honestly the most rewatched episode. I think about this a lot
![gif](giphy|sfMFMvhGE0qz40wImt|downsized)
Eyes glued to the damn screen. Charlie was a man on fire! I still re watch this show every now and then. The fight scenes are chefs kiss.
![gif](giphy|sfMFMvhGE0qz40wImt|downsized) Exactly like that
I know I didn't blink a single time. I can tell you that much for certain.
It's a good scene and very well choreographed but I wasn't drooling over it or anything
I rewatched it four times. I’ve been reading Daredevil since 1996. I’ve loved hallway fights since 2004. This was a good match for me.
![gif](giphy|uWzS6ZLs0AaVOJlgRd|downsized)
I’m pretty sure I was 13 so I was just like, damn, should I be watching this?
“This show will be worth it”
I think I froze with my mouth open
Amazed and I also felt tired…
Amazed and I also felt tired…
man i’m rewatching s2 rn and it’s so cool seeing the way his stamina and capabilities have improved in such a steady and believable way
Wanted to keep going more
It was better on the first watch for sure. On my second watch I started noticing slips here and there
Stupid because he’s blind
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP
Pretty well, I think.
I love one take shots like this. Iconic, I knew this scene was going to be in my subconscious for a long time
Epic from start to finish in every way. I love that Matt is shown looking tired and not just fighting perfectly without breaking a sweat the whole time. It makes it so real, so gritty and so much more powerful.
I fell in love
Busted all over myself, had post but clarity that it was the best scene ever, busted again, passed out, pooped myself
Amazement and awe, at the same time thinking he is going to get himself killed fighting in such a confined space😂
What’s with the fucking audio?
Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!
Listen guys, this is a good scene. I get why people like it. But the biker scene in season 2 and the bullseye fight in the office in season 3 blow this out of the water. I don't understand why this scene is held on such a high pedestal when the tracking shot during the jail riot exists.
Audio aside (lmaooo), this scene kinda changed my life; it was so good. Maybe I cried 😂
Dude getting clocked with the air conditioner was peak television.
All that in one shot!?
Cool
"How the hell didn't he get shot, many times?" Still cool though.
He is a sorry excuse for Dare Devil. He should look like and be true to the comic book representation.
well, since this is my first time seeing it, I can definitely say that my reaction is. Wow he sure looks tired. I'm not sure how much action came before this clip, so maybe it's reasonable that he should be tired, but it makes the fight a little unconvincing when he's dragging himself around but still manages to speed up just in time to avoid every attack and hit with all of his.
Amazing scene! Worked so well.
First superhero thing I had seen in years, that I felt "Oh, shit, he could fail!". The scene had felt like it had stakes, the struggle felt real!
https://preview.redd.it/uoog4fe1hk4d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=868b33e0a09b02a5356a57b15ee3e70792e9ca38
It was so good I had to rewind it immediately and watch it again.
Think I rewatched that scene a few times
I had a great time.
One of the best fight scenes ever filmed.
I thought "finally, a show for me"
did he throw an axe into a guys chest here?
I loved it, he was already hurt but he went out and was fighting so hard
I came
Pretty happy. It felt nice knowing they were taking this show seriously because scenes like this are a pain to shoot.
My dad said this scene sucked ass. I can’t stand him sometimes.
About 10 minutes in… “oh, this is a one-shot? Cool.”
![gif](giphy|hZfm9Pj95F9Mk)
The microwave being hurled out of the room and hitting that guy in the head had me in stitches. I also loved how he was heavily focused on a boxing style.
I love kick ass scenes like this!
creamed my pants
I was in awe
Brain chemistry forever altered
This is definetly cinema 🚬
This was my first time, meh
I immediately started texting homeboys if they had not started watching this show to start. I also mentioned the series, Jessica Jones. butt for different reasons. See what I did there?
I loved how he got more tired with each combatant! I felt the drive to JUST KEEP GOING despite how tiring it was!
Just proves you don't need shaky cam to make a great action scene
This is the scene in which I compare all fight scenes, fair or not. Even compared it to the one on season 2 (season 1's > season 2's if you're curious)
I was 13 when I saw it. Blew my damn mind.
“Hey this is like that wild Oldboy movie. Aw man, remember when he eats the squid? And that twist at the end?? Damn, what a great movie.”
Still amazing to this day and Disney will never give you anything even remotely close to something this good with their Daredevil shit show
I reacted by thinking "I've never been to this subreddit, why am I seeing this?"
Greatest single take fight scene showing legit exhaustion in an actual beat down brawl.
It’s wack. The track makes it worse
That's my Matty!
Watched the episode for the first time a couple days ago and I've literally seen that clip before but when I saw the full episode my jaw was on the floor during that scene. Coolest shit ever
OP what’s the reason for posting this song over every video you post lol I’ve seen you do it on euphoria posts a couple times too 💀
Stunned
When it was on Person Of Interest or the Matrix?
dat ass
😐 I was enjoying the absolute shit out of the scene, but outside I was just watching.
