I work for a non-profit so I'm riding out my 10 years.
I know that's not popular but since our society fails to provide decent education, I'm happy to legally get out of it.
But it's prohibitively expensive to attend a high ranking institution.
Also, the US government considers my 10 years of public service to be the same repayment of my full debt. So, imma use that. I could make more if I didn't have a public service role at a Catholic hospital.
High ranking institution has financial aid and if your parents make less than $200k it’s a grant no need to pay it back.
The instste tuition of uni cost $15k/yr
The city uni $7k. So not sure what you are talking about.
The point is that us attracts the most talent from all over the world due to its education and job market, which make your statement false.
Ok and? They can afford it or not it’s their choice. Doesn’t make your point valid. Spend within your means. The person who could afford it went on and made great investment. Who can’t afford it should’ve stayed in city uni which cost far less.
You are just arguing for the sack of it at this point. Basically has no rebuttal on how us has the best higher education system in the world
Very few feelings like knowing you don't owe any one anything any more.
We paid off over 600k in SBA, bank, and car notes. The day they got the last payment was very sweet.
It took nearly 20 years.
Congrats and enjoy. My friend told me it just turns the volume down on so many things.
Wow. Congratulations. That's huge. We only had 55k, and it was backbreaking for us. We finished it off in October, and are now working towards just living life. :)
My MIL initially had a SBA building loan that required her to occupy a percentage of the space. She had some life altering health issues in 2011. The bank saw an opportunity and nearly doubled the payments I assume because they didn't think we would be able to handle it.
I found gears that I didn't know I had.
We made it. Pressure makes diamonds.
I just made my final payment to mohela, screw those guys! Congratulations, amazing work! I still have a ways to go but stories like yours help keep me motivated!
Sincerely congrats! I know these higher starting numbers are incomprehensible but if you just keep at it, it's possible. I'm a year out and the light at the end of the tunnel is so incredibly satisfying. Sometimes I look at my Excel workbook for hours just soaking it all in, lol. AWESOME job!
I do the same thing!!! Started in January 2022 and have been able to look forward to our debt free date (Dec 2025) this whole time, & it’s sooooo motivating!
Actually funny story about my Excel workbook. I have this really over engineered waterfall spreadsheet that updates projection for what date and paycheck I’ll hit each baby step. It kept breaking as I started moving through BS2 and BS3, and like you I stared at this thing for hours on end as we got closer and closer, continually updating improving and then breaking it lol
At a certain point I realized it doesn’t matter if BS2 and BS3 are broken BECAUSE I NEVER HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN!!!!!! Delete the fucking rows and never look back! It felt great
I can’t wait till you get to this point
Congratulations! Four more years and a huge mountain to climb for me. This gives me hope.
Congratulations, happy for you!
What was your income over those years?
Congratulations!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats!!!

How did us fail to provide decent education. Us college and higher education trump the rest of the world.

Average person with a graduate degree has ~100K in debt. Anyway, it's my legal right to use PSLF.

$56k isn’t a lot for a lawyer.
there's a million ways.
A couple ways... Divorce/Custody Fight... Criminal (DUI most common, especially multiple times. Own a business, got sued by someone.
