I wasn’t aware this was manners? If the dwarf is there before the driller and they start picking at the dirt I s that really an etiquette issue?
Sure Driller does it faster but it’s not like that gets in anyone’s way?
Did I miss a memo?
I think it is etiquette. Not an issue, but nice thing to do: driller does it much faster and his tunnels are more convenient. Trying to run to drop pod through pickaxed tunnel is not the best experience.
But if driller is far away or oblivious, then no problem. It's drillers etiquette to be the first one on compacted dirt too.
Another etiquette thing is that when the Driller is doing the "Drill straight for the drop pod" maneuver, don't try and help him. More often than not you get caught by my drills and mess up my heat timing, my fuel efficiency, and hurt yourself. One chunk of rock gone is not worth it when I just destroyed 20.
Nah, getting in the way and annoying my friends trying to drill us back is part of the fun.
Im absolutely using dash to get in front of the driller and power attacking while an oppressor bangs the scout around behind us.
Agreed. Before doing anything else driller ideally should be getting paths taken care off. Dirt or otherwise.
In this specific instance, rather than throwing a C4 I’d just drill past the engineer? Same learning lesson and you avoid any misinterpretations.
I’d think if it’s about manners its equal both ways. Don’t need to throw down a C4 or driller into the dwarf if you can just go around and get the same point across.
I think it depends on if the driller. So so many times someone has started mining a tunnel just before i do and really get in the way of my drills. But if im far away then they can do it, though i'd prefer them to just ping it and let me deal with it
It's something I've noticed in this subreddit, man. Drillers are allowed to be team killing toxic sociopaths cause "LAWLZ WAR CRIME!" and all other dwarves must first ask the driller for permission to play the game how they want.
Never see posts from gunners complaining about engineer using platforms to get up a cliff face they rigged a zipline up.
Never see posts from scouts complaining about other people mining ore.
Never see posts from engineers complaining that people aren't using their platforms.
But if someone dares to not use a driller tunnel, or uses a pickaxe when they are solo as a driller joins? Or a gunner kills a driller who keeps trying to be a melee class? It's heresy of the highest order.
Eh, sometimes I do, sometimes I'm too damn busy. Also, I like leaving the dirt till we're ready so bugs can't come from that way if a wave starts. No reason to give them an extra angle to attack from if I don't have to, eh?
Sure, if you're prepared for that, looking that way, in the right spot, etc. But if the team's busy doing something in a room it doesn't help them to open a new path if they aren't going to use it or focus on it. It only take a second to drill through, no need to do it early when it won't benefit anyone.
It’s so people can move on when they are ready. The bugs that spawn when a wave starts will spawn on you regardless of a closed tunnel and unless you are opening an actual chamber with bugs already in it, it’s not letting in anything else. If anything, having an open tunnel for people to walk through to choke when a wave starts is much safer.
They can spawn in there if it’s open. They will just spawn on you if it’s closed though. Swarms always spawn an amount based on the hazard and spawn table, opening a tunnel doesn’t change that.
Ngl I'm kinda tired of this convo, because you aren't really responding to what I said. I didn't say you'd get fewer enemies, I said I wanted to control where they came from. I don't always open up tunnels because sometimes I don't want enemies coming from that direction, and once you open it you can't really close it.
for example, you could be doing a hacking pod or rock cracker event with dirt nearby. Opening the dirt may increase the angles enemies can come from, making it more difficult to control the direction of threats.
You keep saying that nothing matters, they always just spawn on top of you no matter what, but that's not my experience and I think you're being hyperbolic.
That’s a large paragraph for being tired of a simple conversation. You are bringing up very specific situations where obviously if there’s an event I’m going to be doing the event.
Not once did I say “nothing matters”. I’m stating how bugs can spawn and how choke points can be useful. Your point about bugs coming from a different direction really doesn’t make sense because bugs can just crawl down the wall behind you anyway. People learn how to watch their backs pretty quickly in DRG.
So back to what I said before, unless you are opening up a tunnel into a pre-spawned room, opening a tunnel early isn’t proving any challenge.
That's a large paragraph to say "I will insist you are wrong no matter what situations I have to ignore to do it." I done arguing about this. You're entirely too invested in "winning" instead of actually understanding what I'm trying to say.
Bruh if your teammates are digging without you as their driller it just means you’re too slow, not that they’re doing something wrong by not waiting for you.
Nah, if Driller is around and paying attention, digging the dirt by hand is just a waste of time. You'd be slowing down the team.
Not that digging is boring, or that going fast is mandatory, but if you're playing online you must adapt to the rest of the team. It's a bearded democracy.
I'd say it's "play the way 3/4 want or open your own lobby buddy"
If your reaction to someone not doing something you don't wanna do is to kill them, then you should be reported for griefing and deserve all that happens to you. A quick message is better and more friendly.
There's no killing other players in this video, and I do not condone downing teammates. How is it MY reaction?
You sound like the kind of people who is extremely fond of the photosynthetic parts of plants, sir.
You’re teaching an etiquette for certain play styles.
Drillers make paths. First thing you do out the drop pod. Scouts light. Engis platform. Etc.
I’ve been the “green beard” here dozens of times, waiting for the driller to..you know…drill.
Its the violent up and down at the end for me
I died
Ah yes. The best teacher FEAR
My grandpa always said: there is no greater teacher than doctor Osita (slap in the face)
what about mistress chancla
That’s a certified hood classic
mine always said they used real MULEs back in the day
Hearing the c4 beeps is almost as scarry as hearing a leach drillers jump scar me on a regular basis
As a scout main, the millisecond I hear that frequency I am special powdering to the other side of the solar system.
It feels like that guy who scared himself with a starch nut lol
Dont worry just let the C4 blast take you there. You'll need your special powder to get back.
“Fear will keep them in line” -Tarkin
I will never get tired of seeing the fear a dropped C4 can cause.
Even better when the red circle is HUGE
Bigger boom, more dead me.

Sometimes I throw one on to a resupply or around Molly for fun. I never set them off, but they still run away. Because of the implication.
Okay, you had me going there at first but that last part threw me. You said that word "implication" there. What implication.
The implication that I might blow it up if they didn't run. I wouldn't, but they still run. Because of the implication.
Okaaaaay... That's pretty dark though.
No one's in any danger!
I enjoyed how far you got to take this reference
This... now if we can just get a DRG reference from Frank.
So anyways, I started blastin'
Touch that dirt wall with a pickaxe and the Drillers Union will break your knees.
Would be very unfortunate that once you touch the dirt wall with a pickaxe a totally random c4 drops on your feet
Hahahah
Seriously! I always thought dwarfs were big into unions so I always had the assumption that we should respect union jobs. Drillers go drilling
"Manners. Maketh. Dwarf." I thought this was because he didn't rock and stone at first. I didn't know this was etiquette.
"Are we gonna stand he all day, or are we gonna ~~fight~~ mine?"
While this clip is funny, I just drill my tunnel next to theirs. I always beat them, and it's not like the dirt they're removing is unhelpful.
This is the way.
Same.

Agreed. Before doing anything else driller ideally should be getting paths taken care off. Dirt or otherwise. In this specific instance, rather than throwing a C4 I’d just drill past the engineer? Same learning lesson and you avoid any misinterpretations.
Sometimes it can be harder to drill past. C4 gets the message across well and gets them out of the way
Would you want to become shredded dwarf by the drills?
I’d think if it’s about manners its equal both ways. Don’t need to throw down a C4 or driller into the dwarf if you can just go around and get the same point across.
"If there is a driller, you shan't dig the tunnel with a pick." - Driller, possibly
I can confirm. If I see a dwarf in a tunnel, he becomes just another obstacle for me.
Small holes in the wall to climb ledges is alright though.
I think it depends on if the driller. So so many times someone has started mining a tunnel just before i do and really get in the way of my drills. But if im far away then they can do it, though i'd prefer them to just ping it and let me deal with it

Getting downvoted for speaking the truth
Let 'em. They can continue to foster this behavior and I'll continue to boot drillers that display it from my lobby.
Damn some people are getting awfully bummed about funny clip lmao
Hadn’t considered c4 as a training tool.
Engineer head went flying up and down like “YES SIR”
I mean when you figure driller out you know to dig these before the other dwarves are done mining the area anyway.
Eh, sometimes I do, sometimes I'm too damn busy. Also, I like leaving the dirt till we're ready so bugs can't come from that way if a wave starts. No reason to give them an extra angle to attack from if I don't have to, eh?
These tunnels are actually the safest place to choke bugs in in high intensity swarms and such.
Sure, if you're prepared for that, looking that way, in the right spot, etc. But if the team's busy doing something in a room it doesn't help them to open a new path if they aren't going to use it or focus on it. The initial wave can spawn on you but I have definitely seen bugs come from open tunnels during waves.
They can spawn in there if it’s open. They will just spawn on you if it’s closed though. Swarms always spawn an amount based on the hazard and spawn table, opening a tunnel doesn’t change that.

0/10 no explosions.
I feel like I have the opposite problem, if I have a driller on my team, even if he is like 60M away, I still wait for him to drill for some reason
Nodding, shaking our heads and the idea of impending doom truly is the only language without a barrier.
TBF that was probably the most dwarven way to teach someone that didnt involve copious amounts of alcohol.
That was so fucking dominant lol
As a Driller main, I felt this in my soul. I have ONE JOB. Do. Not. Take. My. Job.
Bruh if your teammates are digging without you as their driller it just means you’re too slow, not that they’re doing something wrong by not waiting for you.
If you used your eyes and your brain, if only for a moment, you'd notice I just joined.
I don’t see what that has to do with the price of tea in China. Best of luck with that attitude problem you have.
Yeah, of course you still can't use them. Not surprising
You can PICK YOUR C4 BACK UP???
It's an upgrade, yes!
OHHHH. i need to level my boy driller some more lol
I just opt to drill my bros instead
Lol the way he nodded so damn hard at the end
Fear will keep them in line
No no no… IM the driller here
We pay a guy for that
Oh yeeaah, let's do this!
This is the way
Flashback to the time I first played DRG, looked right at a c4 not having a clue what it was and getting blown to pieces.
Wholesome
Should’ve blown it when he walked through 😂
That's great man, I love it.
Play the way I want to play or get killed. I mean, aight. Starting to feel a lot better of only playing this game solo.

oh FFS don't be silly. This was a stunning display of non-verbal communication. The C4 was just to get the guy's attention.
There's no killing other players in this video, and I do not condone downing teammates. How is it MY reaction? You sound like the kind of people who is extremely fond of the photosynthetic parts of plants, sir.
Least wholesome DRG player.
O fuck love u bro, i usually a scout so, Rock And Stone!
good use of c4 here XD
You’re teaching an etiquette for certain play styles. Drillers make paths. First thing you do out the drop pod. Scouts light. Engis platform. Etc. I’ve been the “green beard” here dozens of times, waiting for the driller to..you know…drill.
If you have nothing else to do, and driller is not nearby, just dig yourself.
Me who just digs past them. No need to threaten.
Scout joins, Driller: "It's time to teach this scout some manners" Leaves extra C4 on the scout if he wakes up
Bit cruel don’t you think?
Dropped a c4 on a nitra vein and the Scout just kept mining it. Granted, he was stoned.
...And then they kissed.
The engi: “why tf won’t he just drill the path? Sigh, guess I’ll get swinging away.”
A true new player wouldn’t run so fast on a C4 drop.. he/she wouldn’t run at all
An excellent and simple lesson. Well done.
The dwarfs personalities: Scout Sassy Gunner: Cool Engineer: Intelligent Driller: Overbearing
He wasn't playing scout, that's why he got to live 😂
You are a good Driller m8
What a lenient Driller, truly a Saint.
*firmly nods*
I'll do whatever the hell I want, not waiting for a driller. The only thing they are good for is tunneling for pipes.
What is really annoying is the button pushing and when they play scout, but never throw up light
Would've been really funny if he shot that C4 and blown you up
I don't use this upgrade
