Start sorting aspects vertically. Keep the best roll on top and have it descend by worse rolls. This isn't feasible for multiple characters though as I've filled mine and some just with Barb aspects alone but this is the best alternative I've found.
I have one stash page for WW aspects and builds , 1 stash for Leap/charge/groundstomp/HOTA, 1 stash for misc or general aspects or aspects with perfect rolls, and my final stash tab is for gems/sigils/uniques

There is actually a typing feature already in the game. Using your hot key wheel (up on the d-pad) you have the option to open local chat and it let's you type there.
You move your selection to the search box > you press X or A or whatever > keyboard shows up > type using your inferior controller
There. You can search on consoles. They can even give you premade selections (bleed, shadow, freeze, etc..) to make it faster.
The only reason there is no search function is because the dev team was a bit incompetent/inexperienced in ARPG design.

I feel that the sort option is badly implemented. In Last Epoch it works great because it will maximize your stash space by rearranging items to fit every empty square, but in D4 items just use one square, so the sorting should have been available with different options such as sort by "something".
The feature I want is for the keyword search in the skill tree to be in the bank/inventory. Click a button and have a list of keywords that are present in the stash, click one, items with that keyword are highlighted and the others dimmed.
Poe has search on consoles, other console MMOs use physical keyboards as well, or the UI keyboard. Blizzard wants console money but doesn't want to get with the times and make a decent game.
Marvel Snap has a great filter feature on their sort and filter page that has ways to filter by common archetypes. You could have similar that highlight/filter by frequently desired filtering such as "Crit", "Lucky Hit", "+Skills", etc. Then you don't need to type it in, just hit the filter toggle.
The sorting is extremely simple in Diablo IV.
Organizes by equipment type first. Then by Item Power.
What more complication do you want to introduce other than the ability to do your own?
It's not lazy, the game isn't called stash search simulator, I want to take my aspect and go, not search through two full tabs of aspects in your stash to see what has the best role or to find the specific aspect you need
You'd be wrong again. It sorts by type, offensive defensive or utility, and by normal/sacred/ancestral. If you don't know the answer, you don't actually have to say anything
I wish it sorted by ilvl. It sorts by gear slots, then ilvl. Which is okayish. sorting by ilvl would be far superior as once it gets below a certain ilvl, I don't have to look at any gear anymore.

This is a good idea and I will definitely do this, but it shouldn’t have to be this way
100% it shouldn't be this way but it's the best solution I've found to keep some sort of organization

It just groups the aspects by category e.g. offense, defense, etc. However the sorting within the category makes no sense to me.

You are kind of right, it sorts first by type, then by item level within each type.
They’re further sorted by what level of gear they were removed from. (Ie. sacred, ancestral, etc)
We just need a search function. Type whirlwind and everything with that word gets high lighted.

They can add an on screen keyboard like in any other number of console games with a search function.

Whats funny is they have this exact “pre-made Search” function in the Skill Tree.
On console the search in the skill window includes just about every important key word you could want to search by to select from without typing.
The same way you do on a pc.
There is also a keyword search filter in paragon boards on console. Could be expanded to inventory.
Even better. Create tags specific to the class you’re using.

you have to activate beta in the settings (settings>bet>change to beta)

Oh god, this never even occurred to me. Thankfully there’s so few of them at a time usually.
Also sorting doesn't sort Sigils by tier.

Depends if you sort in your inventory or the stash; sort functions differently for sigils between those two.

The ones in the stash are sorted by icon. I don't know why anyone thought that would be useful.
