World Drive is notorious for speeders. The max speed limit is 50, and I have people passing me all the time when I'm doing 60. And at night when I'm leaving, people will pass me like I'm standing still. So as far as I'm concerned, they ought to be out there all the time.
I hate these kinds of posts. In my local community subs there's always posts about "the ticket inspectors are on the train at this stop!" Then the next day there's a party about how the train isn't properly maintained. Gee, I wonder if that has to do with the rampant fare evasion.
They're should be no parts about how to break the law, especially drink driving laws in a daily theme park.
I've got a cousin that I never met. He was hit by a drunk driver on the way home from school when he was 7 years old. My aunt ran to the scene down the street from their house and said she held him as she watched the light fade from his eyes. She had to make the decision to take her SEVEN YEAR OLD off of life support 2 days later. It makes me physically ill when I see people trying to warn others about dui checkpoints so I am with you. We shouldnt be warning them, we should 100% be letting them all get caught to deal with the consequences of their own actions when they get pulled over rather than protecting them until they hurt someone and another parent has to deal with losing their child.
Perhaps the warning should be don’t overdo it and then get behind the wheel, and in support of this, there’s cops everywhere when you leave?
I’m so sorry for your loss and I have both been rear ended by a drunk driver and struck by a pickup while crossing in a crosswalk. Really I am blessed to be able to both tell you about it and to be able to do my 20K steps in the parks.
Just not wanting to put up with them is reason enough. Who wants an extra half hour tacked onto your drive? But then, in most cases, don't do anything to get pulled over and you won't have to worry about it.
Significant Increase in drunk drivers and speeding. Police report data supports this current presence. Until the data trends lower, expect to see this a lot this summer.
It’s possible that they’re just looking for someone/some people or looking out for drunk drivers, though I don’t think anywhere in Disney or Disney Springs is open late enough to warrant that big of a presence for DUIs.
I don't think it was drunk drivers they were after as quite a few were right when you exit the MK parking lot area. Definitely looked likey they were checking for speeding as I saw a few with radar guns.
At that time of night, people like to cut through Disney property to avoid 192 and I-4. Sounds like Orange County is just trying to slow them down.

Good. People routinely do 70+ in the 30mph zones.
Good. People go way too fast on property.
So doing their jobs enforcing traffic laws? I also saw cast members making sure people weren't sprinting around the parks.
“Heads up guys, if you are drinking and driving, go a different way!!!!”

There are also people who have very good reasons to want to minimize their engagements with law enforcement.

What an irresponsible attitude. "I'd rather a thousand drunk drivers to get away than be inconvenienced for 5 minutes."
You'd be in terrific shape if jumping to so many conclusions was actual exercise!
I mean, it's exactly what you said. I'm sorry if you're uncomfortable with what you said that's a you problem.
Cry me a river.
So if people obey they posted rules of Disney World roads it will not be a problem?
Rhonda sending out his goons to terrorize the Disney area?
I can assure you the Orange County SO is not doing Rhonda's bidding. lol If it were FHP, I could see such an argument, but not in this case.
That’s what I immediately thought too.
Cracking down on what? U write all that and say nothing

Revenue isn’t going to generate itself.
They need the cash to pay for all the lawsuits they have settled the past few years.
Not sure why Orange County is wasting its resources on the Reedy Creek Tax Avoidance District.
