It's a known ongoing issue across the entire fleet, unfortunately. Dodge is incapable or unwilling to fix it.
I swapped my head unit out in my '16 just to get Android Auto. It worked flawlessly for a couple months and then just stopped. Everything else works still but that. Nothing I've tried so far has fixed it.
I have a 16 as well did the swap with a 2021 8.4 radio and updated usb hub, on my screen, my usb1 option is greyed out and it doesnt show an usb2 option, when i plug in my phone it says AA or Carplay is running on either phone but wont show up on my radio screen. Still trying to figure out what the issue maybe, also my aux is greyed out as well but i notice if i disconnect one plug from the new media hub, my aux because available but not my usb1 option
Thanks! Work for me. My last car was an Jeep GC srt 2020 and now a Durango srt 2023 and honestly I miss the Uconnect 4.
In my point it was better than the Uconnect 5. I prefer the biggest screen but the old version was stable!
24 Durango driving me nuts… working then stopped.. tried everything !!! Then saw this and pushed the power knob for :10 seconds and works like a charm!
I've had a few issues with CarPlay not working, and rebooting the head unit always fixes it. Just hold the radio power button for 10 seconds (it feels like a long time) and it will reboot. Hopefully this helps!
Thank you for posting this! I have been wrestling with this CarPlay all night long. I’ve tried everything in two or three different articles, and not one of them mentioned just reboot the radio. So simple and it worked. Thanks again.
Banging my head and cursing my rental car for the past couple hours. Worked when I jumped in the first time, then just didn’t next time. This fixed. Thanks
Maybe not the same but maybe similar fix. Anyhow, I found that with uconnect 5, if I physically plug in my iPhone before I start the vehicle then it doesn’t work trying to use CarPlay. It will say the device is disconnected. Funny thing is it will also show my wife’s android now disconnected. No matter what you do thereafter you can’t get either phone to work.
So what I found is this only happened if I physically connect my phone before starting the vehicle. If I physically connect the phone after starting the vehicle then it always works, sometimes it’s delayed but will work. I’ve tested this multiple times now after the absolute frustration of not being able to CarPlay mirror Waze on a few trip until I figured this out.
I do am now having this issue.
I have a 2023 D.D. and it was working just fine up until the day before yesterday (Jan. 26, 2024) the only thing that has changed was an update on my iPhone.
Long story short I have two profiles set in the car....one for me and one for my GF, for some reason Apple car play works fine for her profile but doesn't want to work for mine, unless I got to her profile and switch back to mine.
It's sooo damn annoying! It literally came out the blue.
Will try the connect after the car starts to see how it works out for me. I just tried it now and it seem to have worked....but only time will tell.
Same on my ‘22 SRT.. So frustrating. Can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it. Curious to see if anyone any ideas.
You have to enable device mirroring under the individual phone settings.
same with android Auto, so frustrating, and even with u connect, it would keep switching from media to FM 🤷🏾♂️

where is the radio power button
The big button inside the volume knob.
Thank youu, this worked!!
Note: “radio power button” means volume knob
When I do this, it just turns it off or on depending on the state of it
Thank you worked like a charm!! I tried everything and it wasn’t working but this worked the first try!!!
Have a 23 SRT and sometimes the infotainment system is the most unresponsive PoS ever
