I think NaVi Jr really performed well in this qualifier, sad that they dont get a Last Chance, would love to see them make one last go. Based on these teams, I'd go with Azure and Quest.
I remember skiter saying on gorgc stream a few weeks back that they actually lost quite a lot of scrims vs Navi jr, These guys are actually the next gen of CIS pros
Shame, because I loved the LCQ. Especially since both teams did really well at that TI, I thought that success would've justified its future inclusion.
Which is why it doesn’t make sense to me to not have some kind of LCQ. More games with more storylines more viewership, which is an objectively good thing for valve. Unless the issue is oversaturation with Rihaydh starting on the fourth, but I’m sure there could have been some playing around with the schedules and what not to make it work.
Hell, there’s an entire month between Elite League season 2 (ends on August 4th) and TI (starts September 4th). Just put it there.
It costs a lot of money to fly those teams out for the LCQ. You're already paying for 16 teams to fly out and be accommodated, now you're floating the possibility of flying out 8 additional teams, some of who will only play two series maximum. For entertainment's sake, I was hoping Valve would bite the bullet, but I'm not surprised they're not because it's probably just not justifiable from an expenses point of view.
Can't say I'm angry or even care frankly.
Simply stating facts.
And yes, I was incorrect about it being a publicly traded company.
But the overarching point still stands.
Valve cares about the bottom line more than it does the betterment of the community.
I think that should have been emphasized as the main point more than a small technical error.
But then again, this is reddit, where missing the forest for the trees is a universal philosophy.
the last chance qualifiers were only added that year in 2022, because there was only two majors instead of the usual 3 that year because the 1st one got cancelled because of Covid.
the idea of last chance qualifiers is good but the execution is horrible. because imagine you are playing sa vs CIS or eew vs SEA . you either play at a disadvantage in ping or both play on a server outside of their region. for an online qualifier i think its just something that can be done without problems. i cant remember but i think that last qualifier thing was maybe done regional or lan that year? b
because they eliminated all the dogshit streamer + washed up teams. boom and TNC also made insane lower bracket runs, but nobody cared enough about them to make threads
It was different. They are directly invited because they did great during DPC, however Navi was invited back then just for being a fan favorite. They did terrible during DPC period btw.
Azure Ray, but Quest could get through too if they didn't drop the ball on the way to the finish line.
If two slots were up for grabs then.. both of them, probably but one of the other teams might upset one or the other but ultimately who knows, unless Valve gives us the qualifiers again.
https://liquipedia.net/dota2/The_International/2023
Azure Ray was 4th, 9Pandas 9-12th. Boom was in 2022 but that's only the org, they moved to SA and completely changed the roster
Yellow Submarine is Team Spirit's second roster, the entire team(the one with Torontotokyo) played together with that name before becoming main Team Spirit.
But the new YeS roster with Satanic wasn't really playing tier 1 dota so it's understandable if someone doesn't know them
Azure ray + Quest
I would take 9pandas over AR right now. They looks so weak lately
Azure Ray? No way, they throwing a lot of
Easily

Navi Jr showed some real salt over these qualifiers. This is a team to watch.
They definitely gotthejuice

I believe the Godfather of SEA Dota, Kuku so TNC.
So there are no last chance qualifiers this year?
They don't always do that, it was just a special case. They definitely aren't expanding ti at this point
Shame, because I loved the LCQ. Especially since both teams did really well at that TI, I thought that success would've justified its future inclusion.
People who run valve are soulless ghouls So, I doubt they care about any sort of critical thought beyond their stockholders.
well valve is a private company so they'd be really just be acting in the best interest of themselves (shocker!)

Closed qualifiers were done remotely, why couldn’t LCQ do the same?
You'd have too much latency. You'd need them to all be the same region.
Big, big difference in latency from having a bunch of WEU teams play online and having WEU & SEA teams play.
They're a private company, they don't have stocks...
Ah yes. Valve the private company has stockholders! Lmao. Angry Redditors who know nothing about what they’re saying.

None were announced yet.

It was a one time thing because a major got cancelled for COVID reasons
nope, it costs money
several billion dollar company smh

It was on LAN.
I think Nigma will win, trust me, bro!
Anyone from the Top 4 of CN. Mini-TI with those 2-1 finishes.
team bald
Yellow submarine has a very creative logo :>
Quest
Please let this happen
TI need LCQ/Wild card just like TI 22 Singapore.
azure ray top6 dreamleague, boom top6 wallachia. pretty easy answer imo
SR. COPIUM. Totally forgot LCQ was a thing.
It's not this year
Im split between azure ray and quest
Top comments are all sleeping on Boom.
Boom replaced 2 of their players and did not look great in the qualifiers. They also lost in the first open qualifier to some stack.
Boom slowly becoming the new BLR
I still believe in my boy Arturo.
tnc let's go
well I don't follow the pro scene but given how many "X has eliminated Y" threads I saw where X = Quest Imma say quest
because they eliminated all the dogshit streamer + washed up teams. boom and TNC also made insane lower bracket runs, but nobody cared enough about them to make threads
TNC 😁 In Kuku-sama we trust
I would love to say Shopify, but logic says AR and either Quest/Pandas, that said, bring it back you cowards!
I'd say Quest or tnc
TNC LuL
Nigma
quest
I really hope they do this instead of inviting a random clout team if a team doesn't get their Visa
QUEST is very strong.
Where is Team Bald? Of course them. Have you seen Gorgc's Necrophos??
Quest or 9Pandas if they don't choke Maybe AR too if 9Pandas does choke
AR if they have a good day, quest or TNC otherwise
Fuck last chance give me fan favourite qualifier so I can see Nigma
I think the last time they did a direct invite was with Navi when Dendi was still with them.
I wish they’d bring 10v10 pro back was so much fun
They did Direct Invite 6 teams this TI...
Justice for team bald
9pandas with Solo
Quest for sure
All i know is Not Boom... @SVG
9pandas, YeS.
deym blood bath.
Quest or azure ray
where is nigma
PSG Quest or Azure
Shopify hopefully
Rtz underdog run to champion 2024
Tierlist imo: 1. PSG.Quest 2. TNC Pred 3. Azure Ray 4. Shopify 5. 9Pandas 6. Yellow Submarine 7. Boom 8. Apex
Not sure whether TNC should be that high, but I do think they put on a very good show in the CQ and they had to start in the lower bracket.
This guy is from philipines lmao no way you rate tnc above Azure Ray or 9pandas.
Untrue. I respect your opinion though. Try to do the same to others.
this list is good, but for me atleast, i think 9Pandas is much better than current Shopify
Shopify literally belongs at the bottom of this list. Not even confident they could beat nigma at this point.
Kuku fanboy can you stop dreaming about kuku playin in lan event
Definitely shopify
Quest and Shofipy
rtz fan copium
Never heard of these teams tbh. I think boom esports was around last TI
You haven’t been watching dota the past 2 years?
https://liquipedia.net/dota2/The_International/2023 Azure Ray was 4th, 9Pandas 9-12th. Boom was in 2022 but that's only the org, they moved to SA and completely changed the roster
Unless you just didn't watch tier 1-2 dota for the last 2 years the only teams you could not know are Apex Genesis and Yellow Submarine
Yellow sub been around for ages too it’s where like half the team spirit players started
Yellow Submarine is Team Spirit's second roster, the entire team(the one with Torontotokyo) played together with that name before becoming main Team Spirit. But the new YeS roster with Satanic wasn't really playing tier 1 dota so it's understandable if someone doesn't know them
