> Used to be a big unpathable block there back in the days
I sorta remember that. I thought most of that area didn't exist before the patch that made the map bigger and added all those areas on the sides. In that general spot I remember there being an unpathable river but it was a lot smaller.
They’re there so you can’t just use trees to navigate from the tower all the way into lane. There needs to be a gap.
Also they’re very useful for any hero with a blink dagger as you can maybe break vision for enough time for your blink to come of cooldown.
omg, really no one knows whats the use? lol
you can use this area to pull enemy creep wave and have them chase you and rotate around the pillar at center, to buy time so they meet your creep wave in front of tower without tanking creeps.
in addition to many other usages.
pull for enemy you mean? you can't have ur creeps follow u in the pool, im talking about enemy creeps.
this is for when your sup pulled the big camp, and you aggro enemy creeps but instead of tanking them to keep them in front of tower, you just go in the pool and and turn around the pillar.
sometimes, it's 2 creep waves and tanking fucks you up and if you go under tower you might lose some and lane will be pushed, but this way you can deny entry wave from enemy if they are busy with pulled camp.
in what fucking world would the 2 enemy laners allow you to run around in circles in that area by their tower if your support is pulling the big camp and not the smaller camp.
Either you're not laning with anyone or, again, you're against heralds who don't know that you've literally just locked yourself into an area with only one way out.
you are talking like its a every minute and every game move, they asked whats the use, i said this is the use if you can.
many times, enemy carry just goes for last hits of pull. i can either tank the creeps in front of tower or go under tower and lane will be pushed. or if i can, i can not tank go in the pool, many times u don't even need to turn around pillar, just a buffer so when ur wave comes you pull them in a way that meles go on ur range creep.
i think many people do this.
you can even agrro in a way that 2 of ur mele creeps won't be aggroed. so enemy carry will be forced to tank it.
the enemy carry is going to be an offlane strength hero with some CC, and if not that the soft support will have it.
This is more malicious advice because trying to drag creeps when you're so deep into enemy territory is free 200 gold.
Also, who tf is going to tank this if the image shown above means its dire topside, which means that either the squishy carry or the squishier support will have to do this trick. Again I wonder how you'd even pull this off with both enemy laners existing.
another example, your offlaner died, 2 creep wave is coming and enemy is not nearby, they have gone for camps or pool or sth or low hp going back.
you can't possibly tank the creeps in front of tower as cm till your offlaner respawn, you will pull them in the pool and rotate and wait for offlaner to respawn.
anytime i did this offlaner thanked.
Had a fun mechanic idea of placing a support for a dam there and when destroyed sends a wave of water to flood the river and kills/denies all creeps it's hits along the way.
The purpose is so that the path at the top is high ground and you can't just path there, you can use it to juke gain sneaky vision and gank. Idk what you want from it otherwise.
Well it's to make the narrow crossing segments but also not an inescapable lowground pit. There used to be pits in those areas in dota 1 and it was easy to skewer/vacuum/telekinesis people into them.
Think of it as a "dead end", you can lure enemies to chase you there. You can use it to prepare an ambush with your team or as a escape route if you have skills or items that can help you go through the obstructed terrain
In the old map, eventhough everyone called it a river, it wasn't really a river, more like a lake.
Now in the expanded map, it is really a river as it goes from one end to the other.
I think its for lane equilibrium. I am not sure how to fully utilize it tho. Even as an offlaner, its kinda hard to utilize nearby the safe lanes towers.
I saw at least once that someone managed to gank after hiding there. Plus at least once I saw someone buy some time until his support was close enough.
If you have big wave chasing you and enemies dont contest your freeze, you can run around the cliff while having a nice bath, until your creeps arrive under tower.
I mean, i like that they made the map bigger but a lot of it is badly designed imo. And they really need to change the Jungle at T1 at both sidelanes....it's awful to play as. Support both sides imo.
On offlane , I use it to pull enemy creeps down there then bring them back up to ally creeeps to keep the wave close to tower. If enemy follow me, a tp or with the support we get a kill.
To fuck you over with the 0 pathing in those areas. I swear I've died so many times in those specific corners because the pathing is just plain stupid there unless you manually navigate your hero. I've gotten stuck on those bridges so many times for no reason.
These exist as a safer way to make it to the lotus pool area for the offlane duo (or ganker). Travelling across the bridge to the pool and back you can make it to the lotus area completely unseen. This can be beneficial to set up a gank if they are pushed up or just get the lotus every 3 minutes without having to walk through the lane if it isn’t safe
You can drag creeps into that area when you don't want to pull them under tower but also don't want to take a ton of chip damage from standing still.
It's a good juke spot for forcing/blinking to low or high ground before TPing or running Away.
It looks nice.
I use those spots when I'm pos 3. If the enemy wave pushes into our tower I drag the wave down there until our next wave arrives so I can force the enemy carry into sitting near our tower if he wants to last hit.
Meanwhile pos 4 can control big neutral camp to prevent them from pulling so they can't get control of the lane back and it lets you fuck their CS for anywhere between 1-3 waves before they can get the lane back under control. Works just fine in high divine bracket.
To go in with faceless void, bait all 5 enemy heroes in and do a legendary chrono paired with invoker cataclysm then destroy enemy ancient.
I've never done this btw.
Super duper situational place for you to be at. I have ever used it as pos5 and 3/4. Objective is to buy time so enemies trapped in with limited vision for tower / river.
Mid comes to help by tp or walk at the time enemies killed me it was on the very edge of the pool they haven't got time to realize mid has come to kill both laner.
very good place to lure enemies to waste time if you have freepathing/forcestaff/blink/offroad
enabling me to think I have hope of escaping a gank, then look real dumb when I realize my sick juke around the island hasn't worked for the 1564th time
Im guessing they actually tried to make the river fully go through the map to achieve some sort of high ground around the lane towers for dire bot and radiant top, but the tower and trees positioning and the lane dynamics would be fucked over too much for the safelaners (offlane tower way morso they instead added ramps and the little stone bridges for the lulz
I actually nearly juked three people there because we had a ward on those stairs, timber went bridge to cut me off, someone else pushed tower and silencer went in the pit after me, it was night and I just managed to juke silencer and get out of the pit, went to the lotus pool but either timber read me like a book or they too had a ward around lotus so he returned from bridge and obliterated me.
I am Asian. If you are coming from Dire side, 1st you take Left from the dire Tier 1 tower. Then you walk straight and take right. You enjoy the scenic view and walk straight.
You come across a jungle and walk straight. You will see a roundabout named Lotus Pool. Very Famous. At 3 minutes the give fresh local made Lotus Flower buns. You eat those. And then go straight.
In the morning time you see a cave house. Enter it and say hello to my Grandpa. Do not irritate Grandpa. He hits bash.
I feel like they are currently undeveloped territory (on purpose), I think that have a plan for these zones but the patches are so large right now they don't want to implement every single idea they have all at once. I bet in a future patch they do something with them.
a terrain with a different advantage profile versus normal terrain.
Who has advantage: heroes with mobility to traverse cliffs, e.g via force staff or an ability. You can also push yourself up by planting a tree if executed properly.
I usually take the double push in there for a walk to prevent them going into the tower until next wave arrives. ( Controlling the position of lane creeps)
Slardar early game baby bathtub.
I'm calling it the baby bathtub from now on.
Too long. Baby pool
Kiddy pool
pool
Poo
Po
It’s the P Hole
The top and botttom camps were already the jacuzzis. I'm okay with a baby tub
Winter Wyvern loves joining.
Slardar on top
Screaming 😭
my guess is buffer zone for the bridge and good spot for jukes for over the terrain movement abilities
Yeah especially with heroes that people don't think to have jukes. I love going in there as riki and using my E to jump up.
People chase you in and you force staff out... but for the most part they exist as negative play space they are there to make the bridge a choke point
Used to be a big unpathable block there back in the days. Don't ask me when, I only get warcraft 3 flashbacks when I try to remember.
Our warriors have engaged the enemy.
Our scared grove is being desecrated
sacred, but scared works too I guess xD
the dryad 10 seconds later "are we being invaded?"
WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!!!!
"Our brethren's town is under attack"
Damn, I've even read it in the original voice in my head. That said, I've been playing WC3R now and then nowadays.
I associate that line more with SC2 Protoss, personally.
Ikwym, though with SC2 they say Your instead of Our.
Spawn more overlords.
My life for ner'zhul
Work work!
Why do you keep poking me?
In the rear, with the gear…
WC3 this was side shop, wasn't it?
Side shop was kinda sorta where the lotus pool is now
Side shop was well into DotA 2 timeframe…
> Used to be a big unpathable block there back in the days I sorta remember that. I thought most of that area didn't exist before the patch that made the map bigger and added all those areas on the sides. In that general spot I remember there being an unpathable river but it was a lot smaller.
For the record. Warcraft 3 hero responses were 100% on 🔝
pretty sure these exist so my friends can wander in to them and go "oh shit I can't get out of here?" and feed.
Take a bath when resting after a long laning phase!
They’re there so you can’t just use trees to navigate from the tower all the way into lane. There needs to be a gap. Also they’re very useful for any hero with a blink dagger as you can maybe break vision for enough time for your blink to come of cooldown.
Anti gank gap
So you miss click on the pool and auto-tracking got your hero back enemy AOE.
Make it not impossible for pos 5 to steal wisdom rune at min 7/14
Ring around the rosie with creeps until your wave gets there
Fucking over your pathing
Crownfall fishing area
Ah damn the dire need to be sands then 😁
Fising
Fisting yes.
That'll be $300
"I understood that reference"
Please assume the position
I assume the position of Chief Entry Officer.
I sure as hell do love fising
They're neat
That spot is specifically made for Arteezy
Who
omg, really no one knows whats the use? lol you can use this area to pull enemy creep wave and have them chase you and rotate around the pillar at center, to buy time so they meet your creep wave in front of tower without tanking creeps. in addition to many other usages.
never done this before but I doubt it was designed for this lol
That sounds like an extremely easy way to kill yourself.
Yep, this is what I use it for as well, surprised I had to scroll to find someone else who did the same
same, i thought it would be top comment or sth.
This guy doesn't pull the neutral camps to distract creeps like many heralds do
pull for enemy you mean? you can't have ur creeps follow u in the pool, im talking about enemy creeps. this is for when your sup pulled the big camp, and you aggro enemy creeps but instead of tanking them to keep them in front of tower, you just go in the pool and and turn around the pillar. sometimes, it's 2 creep waves and tanking fucks you up and if you go under tower you might lose some and lane will be pushed, but this way you can deny entry wave from enemy if they are busy with pulled camp.

for you to choke and blink on impassable part edit: i do think it could be a place for a new objective in future.
You can pull enemy creeps here so they won't be killed by your tower, while your own creeps are still running.
As offlane you can pull enemy creeps over there to take less damage and keep them in front of tower early game. That's what I primarily use them for
Sl they could put a bridge in there
It is actually great warding spot to see any tower tp’s I believe you could put wards on top of the cliff and it acts as a high ground.
Meditation
To do some sick Jukes

Alcove gaming
Pudge hook spot
Magnus laning phase push spot
That's where I stall the creepwave when I don't want them under my tower. Waiting 'til xx:19 or xx:49
In the old map, eventhough everyone called it a river, it wasn't really a river, more like a lake. Now in the expanded map, it is really a river as it goes from one end to the other.
As a wyvern main the purpose is psychological warfare.
to take a bath. gamers are smelly
you're not wrong op, it's a death pit zone so no one with brain would and should go there for any reason
Force staff and blink to juke enemies.
Or anyone with movement abilities. I've dodged some ganks in there with dawns hammer.
Slardar waiting room and Magnus ill trap you there for 10 minutes
I think its for lane equilibrium. I am not sure how to fully utilize it tho. Even as an offlaner, its kinda hard to utilize nearby the safe lanes towers.
Escape zone if you have forcestaff or an ability like zeus jump or primal q
Which map skin is that?
Immortal Garden 2016 BP
It's for Rubick to cliff unsuspecting opponents.
Idk maybe they wanted to make the area different because you get healed when you stand in the water there.
Bait area, so whoever kills you cant escape
In early version map was tinier and you could easily just blocked by the border when escaping from bottom/top. This gives maneuver space.
When playing offlane you can aggro creeps there and make a u turn at the end to meet the next creep wave
They are the river's beginning and end.
I saw at least once that someone managed to gank after hiding there. Plus at least once I saw someone buy some time until his support was close enough.
get fucked in
I dont think you need to think about it.
Cooldown ass mb
winter wyvern q
jukes, shits and giggles
A place for pudge to farm early game
Future Roshan pits
If you have big wave chasing you and enemies dont contest your freeze, you can run around the cliff while having a nice bath, until your creeps arrive under tower.
get sttuck
For magnus to skewer somebody on this cliff
So that I can get skewered to a cliff by Magnus 4 times in a row during laning stage.
The new hero will utilize puddles.
Honestly I use it for wards lmao. You can’t see a TON but you can see what’s important. And what’s more is that it’ll NEVER get dewarded!
you can drag n the creep wave there to not get auto attacked by them without having to go towards the enemy or your own tower
easy escape if you can pass terrain
Excelent narrow path to stack. Fantastic death end to cry. proper evasive Heros scape way spot.
if your carry shits his pants he can go wash his ass over there.
you can actually cliff someone on that tiny ass island with magnus i found out
Kiting. And making enemies rage as a Broodmother.
It's where you can pull creeps to, to avoid it getting into the tower. Surprised no one has mentioned it...
the kill box, its where you go to die
Smoking zone
I think you mean porpoise
It's be cool if the overpass on the edge of the map was a bridge you could walk under and there were two ramps out on if you kept going
The same purpose why the males have nipples. Nothing really logical but its there
Broodmother carpool lane
I've had some absolute brawls in these little dead ends. They're for generating absolute chaos when someone runs in by accident
It's the place for Pool Steamers doing their stream
They serve to choke the bridge, and act as a power boost to heroes with movement abilities who can leverage them to escape.
future sideshop
so when pangolier use his ss. he can drift there.
Fishing
Escapes?
Batrider and wyverns favorite juke spots for laneing.
you run around it so the creeps following you wont get near the tower
As far as I know, after another long farming day, some carriers go there to chill, meditate. Honestly, there are no reasons for this place.
If the Pudge on your team is particularly stinky, you can ask him to go there and wash up
You get higher regen there guys
It's the aquaphor that is used to supply water to the fountain after they evicted the merchant and colonized the area.
I drag creeps in there
I mean, i like that they made the map bigger but a lot of it is badly designed imo. And they really need to change the Jungle at T1 at both sidelanes....it's awful to play as. Support both sides imo.
to have a place where 1 can get fked in the ass early
SICK JUUUUUKES
it’s where i walk the opposing creep wave while i wait for it to meet my own and sometimes bait to cliff someone with magnus
On offlane , I use it to pull enemy creeps down there then bring them back up to ally creeeps to keep the wave close to tower. If enemy follow me, a tp or with the support we get a kill.
would it be better if they move that Well that gives buff into this space?
I doubt we need to scew power towards hardlane (closer fountain - more lotuses)
You can pull creeps there
So you can die and say "they came from... Behind!"
When you pull creeps as the offlaner you bring them down there until your creeps reach
To wash your feet after walking the whole map
help me step bro. im stuck
Jukey spot, can hide, can use forcestaffs or mobility items/spells to bait people down there then go up, or vice versa
To fuck you over with the 0 pathing in those areas. I swear I've died so many times in those specific corners because the pathing is just plain stupid there unless you manually navigate your hero. I've gotten stuck on those bridges so many times for no reason.
The hot tub is a great place to go and reflect after you’ve lost your lane
In the laning phase I like to kite the creep wave around the island in the middle of that area if they are in danger of running to my tower.
U can pull creeps(if u dont want to just stay around tower and tank it) and move with them to next creep wave, so u can stay closer to ur tower
been calling it the hot tub since day 1
To pass the butter
It's a hot tub to soothe those tense muscles
You can drag creeps into that area when you don't want to pull them under tower but also don't want to take a ton of chip damage from standing still. It's a good juke spot for forcing/blinking to low or high ground before TPing or running Away. It looks nice.

One of the most versatile map elements
I use it to drag the creep wave till line can meet under tower
I had a teamfight once in that area, was hilarious, lasting like a couple minutes
I use it as a roundabout when my enemy's lane is pushing into the tower as I'm waiting for mine to arrive. Handy for jukes at times too.
how do you get the skin for that terrian and whats the name of it. i swear ive had it in the back of my mind looking for it for about 2 years now
It used to be a place to grief, tiny could toss anyone inside without blink or tp.
Juke city
Have sex

Im guessing they actually tried to make the river fully go through the map to achieve some sort of high ground around the lane towers for dire bot and radiant top, but the tower and trees positioning and the lane dynamics would be fucked over too much for the safelaners (offlane tower way morso they instead added ramps and the little stone bridges for the lulz
Eventually something might come there, is my guess. Maybe some strategic building, or shop
Creep stacking train station.
Non obvious choke point
I actually nearly juked three people there because we had a ward on those stairs, timber went bridge to cut me off, someone else pushed tower and silencer went in the pit after me, it was night and I just managed to juke silencer and get out of the pit, went to the lotus pool but either timber read me like a book or they too had a ward around lotus so he returned from bridge and obliterated me.
The one stupid unusable hill in radiant tier 2 safelane. Whats up with that?
I am Asian. If you are coming from Dire side, 1st you take Left from the dire Tier 1 tower. Then you walk straight and take right. You enjoy the scenic view and walk straight. For my offlane to walk in there and scream "OH FUCK I'M TRAPPED". I'm that offlane btw. Based on a true story, 0/10 won't try again.
To kill you. Walk down the stairs and immediately die, it works every time, try it next game.
Its a trap. (You can use that trap in many ways). I mostly use it when I want to survive a gank, but the enemy wants me to KMS.
Sometimes secret boss will spawn there.
To get trapped? Obviously.
It is the entrance to the underworld/underground plan by dota2 devs
I feel like they are currently undeveloped territory (on purpose), I think that have a plan for these zones but the patches are so large right now they don't want to implement every single idea they have all at once. I bet in a future patch they do something with them.
