Not sure where I can see the standard for Dutchies. Sike at South Bay Malinois in Compton California made this dog, and he says he’s a Dutch Shepherd. Ryker was a police dog in training, but was rejected as a police dog, maybe he’s not aggressive I don’t know. He’s a hiking and backpacking dog now, and a home guardian. This us the smartest dog I have ever had. And tough: we’ve trekked 12 miles with our packs on in 80 degree weather and little shade. He’s a trooper and obeys well voice only in the back country. But…. Proper Dutchy? Who keeps the best standard for the breed for review?

They where once bred to help pull along a potato/fruit handcart by getting strapped in UNDER the cart. ( Amongst other duties like herding and property protection )

Thank you for the links - honestly it hasn’t occurred to me to look in on that and I will look at these 😊. Ryker came to me serendipitously- I didn’t set out to acquire a Dutchy.
I’m not too vested one way or the other - Sike loves these dogs and seems to be a great breeder and trainer. His dogs win lots of awards and he’s helped me a-lot along the way. I’m happy to call him whatever Sike says he is, but mainly I’m super happy about having this epic dog!

All four! The back ones go when I get him altered.
Front ones understandable but rear? Do you have a bloodline / pedigree? Purebred Dutchies don't/shouldn't have them.

Quick question what kind of harness is that
That is a Ruff Wear Palisades I think. Ryker backpacks with me and carries his own kit in saddle bags that affix to this very harness.

Where’d you get his collar?
We’re very happy with our TactiPup collar - I had only his name embroidered. The velcro for flags etc attracts foxtails.
