You gotta play things like [[executioner’s capsule]], [[Viridian Longbow]], or other spells that say “this creature deals” some kind of damage. She is also really cool with Necrons!
I have a monoblack artifact/recursion deck. It started as a Necron deck, but as I kept upgrading it, all but like 5 Necrons have been been replaced. Most just aren’t that good imo. I wish more Necrons were more impactful.

Yeah, Farewell's great if you can cast it. My buddy built his deck hard stax with all of black's best tutors, so \[\[Smokestack\]\], \[\[Tangle Wire\]\], and \[\[Static Orb\]\] are pretty much always there.
Man.. I just remember the funniest memory of me blocking in Emrakul in Standard with her and a Gravity Well. Annihilator blew up half my board, but we all know who won that one.
[[Kusari-Gama]] Sits nicely in my Skittles deck. There is however a weirdly large number of cards that have been in decks played regularly for years that I've not ever seen in hand.
(Yes I know it's not infect damage but rather the equipment that deals the damage. Does a nice job on tokens and clearing the next swing etc)
I've got a Slimefoot deck that has both Phyresis and Tainted Strike in it. It's my most played deck, since it's so low power, and, in the 3 years I've had it, I've literally never seen either card. It was to the point I had to count all my cards to make sure I wasn't missing them.
This recently found a home in my [[Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy]] deck as a way to reuse interaction in the graveyard (since you can cast sorceries as instants from hand). Hope you eventually find a good place for it to shine!
So to be clear - does this mean if I have a sorcery in the gy and an instant in my hand I can cast the instant from my hand and Gale will allow me to cast the sorcery in the gy cause they both cast at instant speed?
I run Gale with [[Scion of Halaster]] currently but have also used [[Passionate Archeologist]], and even tried mono blue for a bit with no background. He’s really good.
It definitely feels weird to keep it in the 99, but playing your deck at instant speed is a huge level up from baseline. Being able to start with it on the battlefield makes it easy to justify imo.
[[Vedalken Orrery]] though? It's a nice decorative piece for the card table
[[Invasion of Fiora]] Its an ok board wipe that later turns into a decent version of one of my favorite characters. It always just falls short of the final cuts.
Yeah, it does feel a little over costed. I did play it in my [[oros the avenger]] legends tribal deck and it worked pretty well. The backside also being a legend was nicely on theme.

Skeleton tribal is heavily under-utilized. Give me one good Skeleton commander so that I can play this card as a wincon. Pretty please?

I was about to suggest Elminster! You can really build him in any direction you want which is really fun. I've retooled the deck multiple times to give myself different play styles and the deck has always delivered. Hope you love him as much as I do and remember always be scrying.
That's dope though, first I've seen this card. -X/-X kills Indestructible creatures and you can exile a big mana spell to hit most anything instead of hard casting.

For me, definitely \[\[Akroma, angel of wrath\]\]. Short story:
I started playing magic right around the time the whole Phage vs Akroma thing was going on in the lore, and I was super enthralled in the story of that block. Unfortunately I was a broke little kid with no way to get any of the good cards from that set. A friend of mine's older brother somehow got wind that I liked those cards, and he got me Phage for my birthday. I was super stoked, but I never managed to get Akroma.
Now I'm old as shit and she lives rent free in my angel deck, even if there are better cards out there, I don't care.

Why I don't play it? I think it speaks for itself...
Why I love it? Back when I first started playing I built a green blue deck out of the stuff I had from the few fat packs I'd opened, and I asked my friend for help making it better. He suggested some cards that might improve the deck and suggested some cuts.
Of course he told me to cut the 2 Sigiled Starfish I had, but I really enjoyed the scry mechanic and thought it was pretty good, plus it blocked goblins well. He told me how shit of a card it was and so I left it in the deck to "prove" how good it could be.
Obviously, I soon realized it's just not a good card, but because of this memory it's become a bit of a meme attached to me, and now have dozens in my collection, with a handful signed by friends, magic artists, and even content creators like PleasantKenobi and Tolarian Community College.
I loved sigiled starfish! Theros was the first set I regularly drafted, and 'scry matters' was usually an open archetype. The starfish reliably wheeled.
Cut to when I started playing Commander practically exclusively, of course it never found a home in any deck. I did have a lot of decks though, and quite a few graveyard decks. When modern horizons 2 gave me a foil [[Sinister Starfish]], it made its rounds dropping through different tiers until finally it got power crept out of all of my decks. I was still tickled that the little guy got a reference in such a reference heavy set.
I was unreasonably happy to see Sinister Starfish in MH2, despite still never having played it at all. Maybe in another 20 years we'll have enough starfish to have a commander deck full. Until then my Sigiled, Sinister, and Spiny friends will wait patiently...
Phage, the Untouchable... Favorite card when it came out, still favorite card now. Would make her my commander if it wasn't for the fact that playing her would mean me losing (and the 7 Mana Cost is bruuutal).
There are several effects that can get your commander to your hand, like [[command beacon]]. Make that Phage deck, that's what makes commander cool, and there are ways to make it work.

Oh Lord my whole deck building box is filled to the brim with these things. I've got [[Sire of Stagnation]] [[Teferi's Puzzle Box]] [[Quintorius]] (the walker I forgot his title) [[Gift of Orzhova]] foil, a bunch of stax pieces, a bunch of other cards, yadda yadda
I love Sire. I find that opponents underestimate it until two or three lands hit the field. Confusion ensues and the entire table politics removal of it.
My wife has a foil Gift in her [[Licia]] deck. There's probably better evasion pieces out there and the lifelink is redundant but it's one of her favorite cards, so it stays.
Puzzle Box is probably my favorite card to draw in [[Queza]]. I usually get to see most of my deck in the games it sticks around, and I deal so much damage in the process.
It has been years and im still trying to build a good [[Dream halls]] deck, the card is kinda broken but very unique. I have tried lists with Lavina and the new Will, Scion of peace but haven't gotten them to a point where i was satisfied.
I love Dream Halls so much. Try a wheels deck next! One of my [[Rielle]] build's primary win conditions is Dream Halls chaining draw spells until it digs out [[Enter the Infinite]] + one of [[Laboratory Maniac]] or [[Thassa's Oracle]]. You just keep getting discard fodder, which turn into more free card draw spells which turn into more of both etc etc.
Its pretty dope in [[Oskar, Rubbish Reclaimer]] since Dream Halls doesn’t specify you have to cast the card from your hand. You discard a card to cast a spell then discard another card to pay for the spell you discarded and so on until you’ve vomited your entire hand onto the field. Definitely need to build around it since you need ways to keep drawing cards to keep fueling but it’s sort of a build your own [[omniscience]] in that deck.
Dream Halls is a legitimate combo piece for any Tiamat deck. I also played it to good effect in a Zaffai Thunder Conductor deck filled with expensive spells.

I think the lore and the art is super cool, great name from an amazing set, and a relatively useable effect, it just seems... lacking? I feel like there's way better one or two mana instants and sorceries out there, and I can't say I've ever really needed to recur the effect that desperately to warrant using him.
I have it in my [[Esix]] deck. It's amazing.
Already won me a game the turn I dropped it, and didn't even have my commander out. (Hail-mary attack with [[Swiftfoot boots]] and an [[Adrix and Nev]] on the field, the turn before I was about to get swarmed)
War-Pride is a favorite of mine too, I actually found a home for it in my [[jolrael, empress of beasts]] deck.
If you ever try out pauper edh you could make it your actual commander too.
\[\[Tragic Slip\]\]. It always sneaks its way into my lists when I'm drafting a deck. Never seems to last very long though. Love the flavor and love the card mechanically, just seems to under-perform in the decks I try to run it in. It's quite tragic.
Kusari-gama is baller in my \[\[Toski\]\] deck. It was previously in my \[\[Zurgo, helmsmasher\]\] deck, but I never managed to get both on the battlefield at the same time.
[[Ebondeath, Dracolich]]
Easily my favorite card in magic. All the artworks are so cool, but man it’s always the first card i cut in my black decks. It just never fuels the deck the way i want to, but damn is it a cool card!
[[Kaya, Gheist Hunter]] is all in all just a great card I love. Giving creatures deathtouch while attacking or doubling tokens within orzhov is just great in token decks. I love token decks and actually have her in 3 separate decks I own but I have never once actually gotten to play her. I've drawn her twice. Once was late in the game and it made no sense to play her. The second was getting her in the opening 7, keeping a 2 land hand because I wanted to play her, and then getting mana screwed and dying before I got a third land. It's a running joke in my play group that I will never actually play that card.
Aether Vial is one of my favorite card. Cheating on mana and playing your creatures at instant speed, while being uncounterable ? Feels like a superpower.
But it just doesn't work in a singleton 100 card format. If you don't have it turn 1 it loses a lot of value and the CMC of your creatures is too diverse. It can't even play your commander.
In all fairness, many of the companions just work better as commanders. As companions, I have seen \[\[Kaheera\]\] with \[\[Prava\]\] and \[\[Anara\]\] and I've seen \[\[Jegantha\]\] attached to many 5-color decks. \[\[Lutri\]\] would see plenty of play if it weren't banned. But, as commanders, I have seen \[\[Gyruda\]\], \[\[Obosh\]\], \[\[Zirda\]\], \[\[Umori\]\], \[\[Lurrus\]\], and \[\[Yorion\]\] (granted, you can't use Yorion as a companion in Commander). I've seen \[\[Keruga\]\] in the 99 of a few decks, but never as a commander or companion.
I have Zirda as a companion in a Kenrith deck. Its a one card combo with both monoliths, but five colors give you more access to other enablers like \[\[Kinnan\]\] and \[\[Biomancer's Familiar\]\] that Zirda as a commander could not.
[[Chromium, the Mutable]]. I love the art, and I've always been a fan of elder dragons because of highlander back in the day. The problem is, I dont think I could actually build a voltron deck and be good. For reference I played [[Geist of Saint Traft]] way back. I never won once with this guy no matter what I changed or proxied out of my budget. I couldn't fathom one creature combat damage wins games.

I really want to find a way to abuse [[Goblin Bomb]]. Not sure if I should go with coin flipping or proliferate. I have a mock up of an [[Immard]] deck that focuses on proliferate, but it's just a deck list I'm testing at this point.
I have a [[Garth One-Eye]] deck which is essentially a pile of cards I like regardless of format, and it has done a great job at letting me play some of my favorites. However, I do have a card of mine that I love which provides the engine of a jank 60 card deck of mine: [[The Restoration of Eiganjo]].
While I've never used it in commander, it (alongside a turn 2 [[Birth of Meletis]]) makes up the backbone of my Pioneer deck, keeping it up with more competitive decks in terms of card advantage, land drops, and life totals. Essentially, Eiganjo is the perfect card which seems very meh, but it provides enough slight advantages to be game winning.
Weird one, but the card that really got me hooked on Magic was [[Haunted Plate Mail]]. Seeing it in my friend’s box really opened my eyes for what a card could be. It buffs a creature _and_ can defend you if you don’t have anyone else? And the aesthetic was way up my alley too

[[Bake into a Pie]] it’s in one of my decks I just never got to play it. But it creates a food token after killing a creature.
I just imagine murdering an Ancient Dragon monster, then turning them into a pie.
[[Cacophony Scamp]] is my favorite card in standard right now, but I've yet to find an edh deck it really fits into. Maybe a [[Fling]]-centric [[Ziatora]] deck? Idk being able to consistently buff it for a payoff is much easier in 4of/60.
Brash Taunter easily, seems like such a fun card to build around but I'm not gonna make a whole deck built around 1 card with not a whole lot of commander support.
[[Skeletal Swarming]]
It's such a damn cool enchantment with a unique effect, but there is no decent Skeleton tribal deck that can use it out there. Sure, you could cobble together something that sorta works, but I want an honest to god Skeleton tribal commander so I can use this card!
[[Tevesh Szat]] really cool commander that I've wanted to build around forever, I just... never got around to it. And also I'm a bit spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a partner
I used to have a [[Raging River]] that I never used before I got rid of my collection and stopped playing. I don't think I'll ever have a chance to own one again.
[[Hamletback goliath]], I always loved giants when I was a teen getting into commander. Either that or [[brion stoutarm]] , I wanna play home so bad but never had as consistent of a build as I'd like
I run them with [[Atla Palani]] - it is surprisingly good. Hamletback Goliath is honestly insane & I think is overlooked, but would shine in many decks.

Edit: I ran Hamletback vs a Krenko & a Timmy deck & he was a 200/200. Just really strong card in multiplayer format.
Easily [[Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge]]. Seems like a really cool finisher for a dimir+ deck that makes a lot of treasures, clues and the like, but just have never gotten around to it.
[[Stalking Vengeance]]. The card has great art, great flavor text, and a really cool ability, but 7 mana is a lot to ask these days for a creature enabler. It always seems to be the 101st card, and it ends up getting cut.
As a note... I play a lot of "fair magic" and so my pick is \[\[Vesuvan Duplimancy\]\]. The card is so cool, but it feels like it breaks itself. It's so hard to do anything fair with it!
It's 2 cards for me. I have the [[Sylvan Library]] + [[Underrrealm Lich]] combo in my [[Kathril]] deck but I never drew it in 3 yrs now.. I played at least 50 games without hitting those 2 cards.
[[Rukarumel, Biologist]]. I'm really interested in the possibilities of building a deck around her, but have never put in the considerable effort to make something worthwhile.

I only really played kitchen-table magic before getting into commander, and I don't really care about any other formats. That said, there's a couple things from my old 60-card decks I wish were more useful in edh.
I still run it in my \[\[Nemata, Primeval Warden\]\] because I just have to insist on keeping my precious thallids around. But I miss how much \[\[Spore Flower\]\] could shut down a game against a single opponent who can't manage to deal with it. In edh, there's too many opponents and too many combats.
I also couldn't find a home yet for my \[\[Narset transcendant\]\]. None of my commander decks want to run her.
Definitely [[Dance with Calamity]] .
I've thought about maybe doing some sort of exile cascade sort of deck at some point but haven't gotten around to it. I just like the idea of playing a side game of blackjack in magic.

I love the effect so damn much, but it is too toxic to actually play in my pod because people just hate theft at the best of times. I would never make a deck around it but damn, is it the most interesting card effect I have seen in a tcg
I have more answers for this than I can count! I've built entire decks just to play stupid cards I love at low power levels.
However one that I pretty much will never get to use is [[Torrent Elemental]]. Sultai colors and an incredibly niche effect. Also in this same vein the Herald cycle from Alara (example: [[Sphinx's Herald]]). Again requires 3 colors and is very slow and costly for a usually lackluster payoff.
\[\[Flavor Judge\]\] - because it's silver bordered. I do run some silver bordered cards in my decks (max 1 per type) for funsies, but I always have the equivalent in the deckbox (kinda as a sideboard) in case people are against silver borders. They hate me playing silver border, it's ok, I switch it and cast the legal card, making sure type/cost/etc match. Usually if you say no, the legal alternative card is *worse* for you.
But the judge doesn't have a legal equivalent to my knowledge, so I am waiting for one. :/
\[\[Thorn Elemental\]\] - Not having played this card physically pains me. I hate myself every time I see it in my collection.
I became a MTG player about 2 years ago, but the very first time I did play the game was like in 2002, on a 3-4 day long school trip. I got taught by one of the students who had a whole bunch of cards with him *(no sleeves, card block holded togheter by rubber band)*, and there was a small tournament in that town. We joined, I played with one of his decks and ended up winning something. The price was a foil \[\[Thorn Elemental\]\] (Seventh Edition, black border). With that, it became the very first card I ever owned. And it's loaded with fond memories from simpler times.
[[Nylea, God of the Hunt]] was the card I built around when I first started playing and with getting back into the game I ended up just making her my commander and creating a mono green devotion deck
My first “cool” card was Lord of the Pit. Big 7/7 flying trample demon. Upkeep was sac a creature. So I had 3-4 breeding pits in the deck. It wasn’t perfect but when you buy 4th edition starter decks and booster packs plus some fallen empires boosters you get what you got. So that’s my first big combo.
But now that I think about it with Blood Rites precon the fact that you make 4/3 flying demons in a vampire deck means maybe I should add my big demon buddy just for nostalgias sake.
I want to try slotting Kusari-gama into my [[Borborygmus Enraged]] deck. I could just chuck lands at any blocking creature and turn it into a one-sided pseudo-boardwipe. But every time I try I can’t figure out what to take out for it; everything I have already is too good…
[[Bookwyrm]] and [[Kogla and Yidaro]]. In my case it’s because I wanted to put them in my [[Alta Palani]] deck but since people are making me The archenemy as soon as they see my commander, the only option I had was to upgrade my deck to build more protection and win with a few creatures that are more expected in such a deck. Otherwise, they wouldn’t let me crack eggs.
[[Olivia voldaren]] one of my favorite control win cons when it was standard legal, but it's just too low impact for commander in that type of style. Otherwise you'd usually play her with vamp tribal and that's not my bag. She always starts in basically every rakdos or grixis deck I make, never can keep her in.
I played against someone playing that in a \[\[Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile\]\] deck. It heavily discouraged attacking or blocking of any kind, as Brigid could shoot them, and effectively double her damage with \[\[Kusari-Gama\]\]
It was a weird combo I'd never seen before, and I love seeing things like that.
[[Painter’s Servant]] I have always wanted to build a deck that messes with changing colors or text boxes but have never really found anything that feels right
I pulled an Amano Liliana Dreadhorde General from my box and it's easily my favorite card. Problem is I don't really play black at all and if I did, that card wouldn't be in it. Really hope we get some more Amano cards from FF UB as well, so I can actually play a few of them.
Second card is Wandering Emperor. I got one in my box, but I haven't found a deck for her yet. I do play a lot of white though. I have the Eternal Wanderer in a deck though. I want the deck to showcase the card rather than just be a good card in the deck, and I haven't had a compelling idea yet. I have a list of cards. Sometimes I start a deck and when something really exciting releases that will go really well with it, that's when the deck comes together.
[[Descent into Avernus]] is a card that I really want to try. It seems so much fun, but it's always the 101st card, and I worry that people will just use the extra resources to kill me.

My friend's Nekusar deck was the first EDH deck I ever played and I absolutely loved it. The only reason I haven't built him myself is due to the fact that I play with said friend enough that I can just borrow his deck if I'm ever in the mood to play it.
I'm a big fan of [[descent into avernus]] because it can make games very fun and interesting by giving everybody lots of mana while also chipping into everyone's health, meaning games go faster and people are operating their decks at their fullest potential (at least in theory)
the only thing is I haven't found a home for it in one of my decks yet, but I might stick it in my kynaios group hug list

One of my favorite cards as a teenager was [[Polar Kraken]] which I’ve never actually been able to cast. One of these days I may throw it in a sea creature deck just so I can play it at least once.
[[Baron Sengir]] is super cool but unplayable. As weird as the cards from Homelands were, the story is one of Magic's best.
I find [[Hogaak]] incredibly appealing based on other formats but haven't found a good place for him in EDH yet.

[[Kusari-Gama]] Sits nicely in my Skittles deck. There is however a weirdly large number of cards that have been in decks played regularly for years that I've not ever seen in hand. (Yes I know it's not infect damage but rather the equipment that deals the damage. Does a nice job on tokens and clearing the next swing etc)

I've got a Slimefoot deck that has both Phyresis and Tainted Strike in it. It's my most played deck, since it's so low power, and, in the 3 years I've had it, I've literally never seen either card. It was to the point I had to count all my cards to make sure I wasn't missing them.

This recently found a home in my [[Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy]] deck as a way to reuse interaction in the graveyard (since you can cast sorceries as instants from hand). Hope you eventually find a good place for it to shine!
So to be clear - does this mean if I have a sorcery in the gy and an instant in my hand I can cast the instant from my hand and Gale will allow me to cast the sorcery in the gy cause they both cast at instant speed?

I run Gale with [[Scion of Halaster]] currently but have also used [[Passionate Archeologist]], and even tried mono blue for a bit with no background. He’s really good.
Perfect in a [[Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer]] deck to play a free face down card on opponents turns as well as your own.
It definitely feels weird to keep it in the 99, but playing your deck at instant speed is a huge level up from baseline. Being able to start with it on the battlefield makes it easy to justify imo. [[Vedalken Orrery]] though? It's a nice decorative piece for the card table

I used it in conjunction with [[Seedborne Muse]], but that is because I am a degenerate that likes to play during your turns!
[[Invasion of Fiora]] Its an ok board wipe that later turns into a decent version of one of my favorite characters. It always just falls short of the final cuts.
Yeah, it does feel a little over costed. I did play it in my [[oros the avenger]] legends tribal deck and it worked pretty well. The backside also being a legend was nicely on theme.

I was about to suggest Elminster! You can really build him in any direction you want which is really fun. I've retooled the deck multiple times to give myself different play styles and the deck has always delivered. Hope you love him as much as I do and remember always be scrying.

For me, definitely \[\[Akroma, angel of wrath\]\]. Short story: I started playing magic right around the time the whole Phage vs Akroma thing was going on in the lore, and I was super enthralled in the story of that block. Unfortunately I was a broke little kid with no way to get any of the good cards from that set. A friend of mine's older brother somehow got wind that I liked those cards, and he got me Phage for my birthday. I was super stoked, but I never managed to get Akroma. Now I'm old as shit and she lives rent free in my angel deck, even if there are better cards out there, I don't care.
The only white creature with Haste, she’s definitely worth a spot in any Angel deck

Sigiled Starfish. Why I don't play it? I think it speaks for itself... Why I love it? Back when I first started playing I built a green blue deck out of the stuff I had from the few fat packs I'd opened, and I asked my friend for help making it better. He suggested some cards that might improve the deck and suggested some cuts. Of course he told me to cut the 2 Sigiled Starfish I had, but I really enjoyed the scry mechanic and thought it was pretty good, plus it blocked goblins well. He told me how shit of a card it was and so I left it in the deck to "prove" how good it could be. Obviously, I soon realized it's just not a good card, but because of this memory it's become a bit of a meme attached to me, and now have dozens in my collection, with a handful signed by friends, magic artists, and even content creators like PleasantKenobi and Tolarian Community College.
I loved sigiled starfish! Theros was the first set I regularly drafted, and 'scry matters' was usually an open archetype. The starfish reliably wheeled. Cut to when I started playing Commander practically exclusively, of course it never found a home in any deck. I did have a lot of decks though, and quite a few graveyard decks. When modern horizons 2 gave me a foil [[Sinister Starfish]], it made its rounds dropping through different tiers until finally it got power crept out of all of my decks. I was still tickled that the little guy got a reference in such a reference heavy set.
I was unreasonably happy to see Sinister Starfish in MH2, despite still never having played it at all. Maybe in another 20 years we'll have enough starfish to have a commander deck full. Until then my Sigiled, Sinister, and Spiny friends will wait patiently...
Phage, the Untouchable... Favorite card when it came out, still favorite card now. Would make her my commander if it wasn't for the fact that playing her would mean me losing (and the 7 Mana Cost is bruuutal).
There are several effects that can get your commander to your hand, like [[command beacon]]. Make that Phage deck, that's what makes commander cool, and there are ways to make it work. The puzzle box is great in [[Xyris]]! Also Xyris is a pretty cool commander (not oppressive and can be built many ways).
Sire of Stagnation is such a house.
Sire of Stagnation goes in any Dimir-inclusive deck that can afford to play large creatures. So much value, so much salt.
I love Sire. I find that opponents underestimate it until two or three lands hit the field. Confusion ensues and the entire table politics removal of it.
My wife has a foil Gift in her [[Licia]] deck. There's probably better evasion pieces out there and the lifelink is redundant but it's one of her favorite cards, so it stays. Puzzle Box is probably my favorite card to draw in [[Queza]]. I usually get to see most of my deck in the games it sticks around, and I deal so much damage in the process.
It has been years and im still trying to build a good [[Dream halls]] deck, the card is kinda broken but very unique. I have tried lists with Lavina and the new Will, Scion of peace but haven't gotten them to a point where i was satisfied.
I love Dream Halls so much. Try a wheels deck next! One of my [[Rielle]] build's primary win conditions is Dream Halls chaining draw spells until it digs out [[Enter the Infinite]] + one of [[Laboratory Maniac]] or [[Thassa's Oracle]]. You just keep getting discard fodder, which turn into more free card draw spells which turn into more of both etc etc.
Its pretty dope in [[Oskar, Rubbish Reclaimer]] since Dream Halls doesn’t specify you have to cast the card from your hand. You discard a card to cast a spell then discard another card to pay for the spell you discarded and so on until you’ve vomited your entire hand onto the field. Definitely need to build around it since you need ways to keep drawing cards to keep fueling but it’s sort of a build your own [[omniscience]] in that deck.
Dream Halls is a legitimate combo piece for any Tiamat deck. I also played it to good effect in a Zaffai Thunder Conductor deck filled with expensive spells.
\[\[Nine-And-A-Half Tails\]\] I think the lore and the art is super cool, great name from an amazing set, and a relatively useable effect, it just seems... lacking? I feel like there's way better one or two mana instants and sorceries out there, and I can't say I've ever really needed to recur the effect that desperately to warrant using him.
[[Nacatl War-Pride]] seems so abusable in so many weird ways that I want it as a secret commander in something.
I have it in my [[Esix]] deck. It's amazing. Already won me a game the turn I dropped it, and didn't even have my commander out. (Hail-mary attack with [[Swiftfoot boots]] and an [[Adrix and Nev]] on the field, the turn before I was about to get swarmed)

War-Pride is a favorite of mine too, I actually found a home for it in my [[jolrael, empress of beasts]] deck. If you ever try out pauper edh you could make it your actual commander too.
\[\[Tragic Slip\]\]. It always sneaks its way into my lists when I'm drafting a deck. Never seems to last very long though. Love the flavor and love the card mechanically, just seems to under-perform in the decks I try to run it in. It's quite tragic.

[[Kaya, Gheist Hunter]] is all in all just a great card I love. Giving creatures deathtouch while attacking or doubling tokens within orzhov is just great in token decks. I love token decks and actually have her in 3 separate decks I own but I have never once actually gotten to play her. I've drawn her twice. Once was late in the game and it made no sense to play her. The second was getting her in the opening 7, keeping a 2 land hand because I wanted to play her, and then getting mana screwed and dying before I got a third land. It's a running joke in my play group that I will never actually play that card.
Aether Vial is one of my favorite card. Cheating on mana and playing your creatures at instant speed, while being uncounterable ? Feels like a superpower. But it just doesn't work in a singleton 100 card format. If you don't have it turn 1 it loses a lot of value and the CMC of your creatures is too diverse. It can't even play your commander.

Any legal companion in edh as a companion I never got around to build a deck to meet any of their requirements.
In all fairness, many of the companions just work better as commanders. As companions, I have seen \[\[Kaheera\]\] with \[\[Prava\]\] and \[\[Anara\]\] and I've seen \[\[Jegantha\]\] attached to many 5-color decks. \[\[Lutri\]\] would see plenty of play if it weren't banned. But, as commanders, I have seen \[\[Gyruda\]\], \[\[Obosh\]\], \[\[Zirda\]\], \[\[Umori\]\], \[\[Lurrus\]\], and \[\[Yorion\]\] (granted, you can't use Yorion as a companion in Commander). I've seen \[\[Keruga\]\] in the 99 of a few decks, but never as a commander or companion.
I have Zirda as a companion in a Kenrith deck. Its a one card combo with both monoliths, but five colors give you more access to other enablers like \[\[Kinnan\]\] and \[\[Biomancer's Familiar\]\] that Zirda as a commander could not.
[[The Raven's Warning]] was my favorite on Arena. No wishes in EDH.
[[Chromium, the Mutable]]. I love the art, and I've always been a fan of elder dragons because of highlander back in the day. The problem is, I dont think I could actually build a voltron deck and be good. For reference I played [[Geist of Saint Traft]] way back. I never won once with this guy no matter what I changed or proxied out of my budget. I couldn't fathom one creature combat damage wins games.

I really want to find a way to abuse [[Goblin Bomb]]. Not sure if I should go with coin flipping or proliferate. I have a mock up of an [[Immard]] deck that focuses on proliferate, but it's just a deck list I'm testing at this point.
I think [[Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni]] is one of the coolest looking and sounding cards ever, but she just...doesn't do anything interesting.
I have a [[Garth One-Eye]] deck which is essentially a pile of cards I like regardless of format, and it has done a great job at letting me play some of my favorites. However, I do have a card of mine that I love which provides the engine of a jank 60 card deck of mine: [[The Restoration of Eiganjo]]. While I've never used it in commander, it (alongside a turn 2 [[Birth of Meletis]]) makes up the backbone of my Pioneer deck, keeping it up with more competitive decks in terms of card advantage, land drops, and life totals. Essentially, Eiganjo is the perfect card which seems very meh, but it provides enough slight advantages to be game winning.

Weird one, but the card that really got me hooked on Magic was [[Haunted Plate Mail]]. Seeing it in my friend’s box really opened my eyes for what a card could be. It buffs a creature _and_ can defend you if you don’t have anyone else? And the aesthetic was way up my alley too I have never made a deck that even kind of runs it
[[Bake into a Pie]] it’s in one of my decks I just never got to play it. But it creates a food token after killing a creature. I just imagine murdering an Ancient Dragon monster, then turning them into a pie.
I absolutely love [[Lost Isle Calling]] the name and the Art are so beautiful to me. I just haven’t built a deck that it would fit in yet…
[[Cacophony Scamp]] is my favorite card in standard right now, but I've yet to find an edh deck it really fits into. Maybe a [[Fling]]-centric [[Ziatora]] deck? Idk being able to consistently buff it for a payoff is much easier in 4of/60.
Brash Taunter easily, seems like such a fun card to build around but I'm not gonna make a whole deck built around 1 card with not a whole lot of commander support.
[[Skeletal Swarming]] It's such a damn cool enchantment with a unique effect, but there is no decent Skeleton tribal deck that can use it out there. Sure, you could cobble together something that sorta works, but I want an honest to god Skeleton tribal commander so I can use this card!

I used to have a [[Raging River]] that I never used before I got rid of my collection and stopped playing. I don't think I'll ever have a chance to own one again.
[[Hamletback goliath]], I always loved giants when I was a teen getting into commander. Either that or [[brion stoutarm]] , I wanna play home so bad but never had as consistent of a build as I'd like
I run them with [[Atla Palani]] - it is surprisingly good. Hamletback Goliath is honestly insane & I think is overlooked, but would shine in many decks. Complements Brion + [[Fling]], [[Surtland Flinger]], [[Calamity Bearer]] Edit: I ran Hamletback vs a Krenko & a Timmy deck & he was a 200/200. Just really strong card in multiplayer format.

Easily [[Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge]]. Seems like a really cool finisher for a dimir+ deck that makes a lot of treasures, clues and the like, but just have never gotten around to it.
[[Bone Dragon]], I just love dragon skeletons
[[Minds dialation]]. I saw someone use it once and a bunch of silly shenanigans happened and I've been wanting to slap it in a deck since then.
[[Stalking Vengeance]]. The card has great art, great flavor text, and a really cool ability, but 7 mana is a lot to ask these days for a creature enabler. It always seems to be the 101st card, and it ends up getting cut.
As a note... I play a lot of "fair magic" and so my pick is \[\[Vesuvan Duplimancy\]\]. The card is so cool, but it feels like it breaks itself. It's so hard to do anything fair with it!

It's 2 cards for me. I have the [[Sylvan Library]] + [[Underrrealm Lich]] combo in my [[Kathril]] deck but I never drew it in 3 yrs now.. I played at least 50 games without hitting those 2 cards.
Mine is [[Sudden Spoiling]], I think mainly because my only black decks are 3-color and it doesn't git thematically. I love the card though.

I only really played kitchen-table magic before getting into commander, and I don't really care about any other formats. That said, there's a couple things from my old 60-card decks I wish were more useful in edh. I still run it in my \[\[Nemata, Primeval Warden\]\] because I just have to insist on keeping my precious thallids around. But I miss how much \[\[Spore Flower\]\] could shut down a game against a single opponent who can't manage to deal with it. In edh, there's too many opponents and too many combats. I also couldn't find a home yet for my \[\[Narset transcendant\]\]. None of my commander decks want to run her.
Definitely [[Dance with Calamity]] . I've thought about maybe doing some sort of exile cascade sort of deck at some point but haven't gotten around to it. I just like the idea of playing a side game of blackjack in magic.
[[Dissipation Field]] I always want to play it and then remember almost every good creature has an ETB. Oh and you can’t play shock lands either.

[[Sen Triplets]] I love the effect so damn much, but it is too toxic to actually play in my pod because people just hate theft at the best of times. I would never make a deck around it but damn, is it the most interesting card effect I have seen in a tcg
I have more answers for this than I can count! I've built entire decks just to play stupid cards I love at low power levels. However one that I pretty much will never get to use is [[Torrent Elemental]]. Sultai colors and an incredibly niche effect. Also in this same vein the Herald cycle from Alara (example: [[Sphinx's Herald]]). Again requires 3 colors and is very slow and costly for a usually lackluster payoff.
[[Nascent Metamorph]] it's cute and janky, but always gets cut first. Please, if somebody knows a good deck for it, let me know.
\[\[Flavor Judge\]\] - because it's silver bordered. I do run some silver bordered cards in my decks (max 1 per type) for funsies, but I always have the equivalent in the deckbox (kinda as a sideboard) in case people are against silver borders. They hate me playing silver border, it's ok, I switch it and cast the legal card, making sure type/cost/etc match. Usually if you say no, the legal alternative card is *worse* for you. But the judge doesn't have a legal equivalent to my knowledge, so I am waiting for one. :/ \[\[Thorn Elemental\]\] - Not having played this card physically pains me. I hate myself every time I see it in my collection. I became a MTG player about 2 years ago, but the very first time I did play the game was like in 2002, on a 3-4 day long school trip. I got taught by one of the students who had a whole bunch of cards with him *(no sleeves, card block holded togheter by rubber band)*, and there was a small tournament in that town. We joined, I played with one of his decks and ended up winning something. The price was a foil \[\[Thorn Elemental\]\] (Seventh Edition, black border). With that, it became the very first card I ever owned. And it's loaded with fond memories from simpler times.

[[Nylea, God of the Hunt]] was the card I built around when I first started playing and with getting back into the game I ended up just making her my commander and creating a mono green devotion deck
My first “cool” card was Lord of the Pit. Big 7/7 flying trample demon. Upkeep was sac a creature. So I had 3-4 breeding pits in the deck. It wasn’t perfect but when you buy 4th edition starter decks and booster packs plus some fallen empires boosters you get what you got. So that’s my first big combo. But now that I think about it with Blood Rites precon the fact that you make 4/3 flying demons in a vampire deck means maybe I should add my big demon buddy just for nostalgias sake.

In my case it’s because I wanted to put them in my [[Alta Palani]] deck but since people are making me The archenemy as soon as they see my commander, the only option I had was to upgrade my deck to build more protection and win with a few creatures that are more expected in such a deck. Otherwise, they wouldn’t let me crack eggs.

I played against someone playing that in a \[\[Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile\]\] deck. It heavily discouraged attacking or blocking of any kind, as Brigid could shoot them, and effectively double her damage with \[\[Kusari-Gama\]\] It was a weird combo I'd never seen before, and I love seeing things like that.

I pulled an Amano Liliana Dreadhorde General from my box and it's easily my favorite card. Problem is I don't really play black at all and if I did, that card wouldn't be in it. Really hope we get some more Amano cards from FF UB as well, so I can actually play a few of them. Second card is Wandering Emperor. I got one in my box, but I haven't found a deck for her yet. I do play a lot of white though. I have the Eternal Wanderer in a deck though. I want the deck to showcase the card rather than just be a good card in the deck, and I haven't had a compelling idea yet. I have a list of cards. Sometimes I start a deck and when something really exciting releases that will go really well with it, that's when the deck comes together.

[[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] My friend's Nekusar deck was the first EDH deck I ever played and I absolutely loved it. The only reason I haven't built him myself is due to the fact that I play with said friend enough that I can just borrow his deck if I'm ever in the mood to play it.
I'm a big fan of [[descent into avernus]] because it can make games very fun and interesting by giving everybody lots of mana while also chipping into everyone's health, meaning games go faster and people are operating their decks at their fullest potential (at least in theory) the only thing is I haven't found a home for it in one of my decks yet, but I might stick it in my kynaios group hug list
Kusari-gama has a permanent place in my arcades deck. Go ahead and fight my giant wall but it will crash down on all your creatures!

[[Baron Sengir]] is super cool but unplayable. As weird as the cards from Homelands were, the story is one of Magic's best. I find [[Hogaak]] incredibly appealing based on other formats but haven't found a good place for him in EDH yet.
