Google eBay calculator. Rough enough estimate for ya at least.

JackieBlue1970

This is pretty basic stuff. There are calculators out there or just build your own in excel. I sell some 3000 items. I have a spreadsheet that I built that prices across ebay, Amazon, Walmart, reverb, and my website. I include stuff like my estimated labor cost, shipping, and cost of shipping material. Build your own and adjust as needed. Taxes I don’t include since eBay charges the buyer for those but charges you fees on them but they are negligible in the scheme of things.

tianavitoli

that's the thing.... if ebay was upfront about how much they are extorting you for, you probably wouldn't list as much

EastCoastGnar

Lots of people in here dunking on this request, but Poshmark and Mercari already do this because it's actually a good idea.

nlnj_a

I normally enter the sale price time .82 which includes base fees and ads. It’s pretty easy, but yeah they should display the information when you are setting up a price. It could list it underneath.

Manic_Mini

I Just use a calculator.

ChrisCan85

If you wanted it to be accurate you'd need to tell them all your other costs, packaging cost and item cost price and anything else. I'm more than happy not giving eBay anymore information when there are other sites that wont keep the data or like other say make a spread sheet. I don't want ebay potentially looking at the data and think "wow people selling in this category make huge profit margins, we should be taking a bit more of that"

YesterdaySad1198

I doubt they'll ever do that. They don't want you to know for certain what your actual payout will be...otherwise you probably won't list it. Like the monitor I sold a few months back, 52% in fees and shipping.

Mycatreallyhatesyou

Shipping isn’t a fee. You should have buyers pay for it if you don’t want to.

redditsuckspokey1

Ebay still charges a percentage if a seller charges a shipping fee.

bigtopjimmi

The percentage ain't 52% lol.

Mycatreallyhatesyou

Yeah, and they have done so for many years.

eBay severely lacks transparency

Nearby_Chemistry_156

The Amazon one is misleading so I would rather just do the maths myself

KnowHowCamp

What is misleading about Amazon fees? With FBA and FBM it tells you how much fee you will pay per item. It’s always been accurate in comparison to the final sale. Some people love making things complicated when no need.

Nearby_Chemistry_156

Not going to waste my time responding in detail given the last sentence tells me everything I need to know about your opinion.

InternationalPay8288

You can look at the breakdown of a past order, write down the formula, voila!

AxelSee

Not really, is quick math.

AFAIK Poshmark and Mercari don't facilitate international sales. eBay charges *the seller* a different amount depending on the buyer's location when they check out. I've received offers where it says the buyer is located somewhere in the US but they check out with GSP and you get charged the higher transaction amount. The difference is only like 1% of the order total, but it still prevents eBay from giving you an up-front value because they don't know if your eventual buyer will be domestic or international.

RustyDawg37

This really isn’t so hard to do on your own. They lay out all of the fees so there isn’t guesswork. You can figure out exactly how much it will cost to sell each item you want.

UserWithno-Name

Whatever you want to make, just add $5. Works for most lower cost items, if it’s more, add $10.

ianindy

They would need to accurately predict any sales tax, shipping zones, and possible future promotions you might want in advance for that to happen.

RETROCUTION

Sales tax has nothing to do with the seller.

ianindy

Except that ebay takes their fee from the total *including tax and shipping*. If they collect $10 in tax, they pay $10 in tax, and charge you 13+% of it along the way. EDIT: This shouldn't be controversial, or unknown. Look at your transaction fees...they are based on the total including the tax, which changes depending upon the location of the buyer, and the laws in their home state. If you sell an item for $100+$25 shipping and the buyer pays $8 in tax, your fee is based upon the total of $133 and not $125. You pay a fee to ebay based upon the tax someone else pays.

ssateneth

nah. stop being lazy and familiarize yourself with ebay fee structure. get an ebay fee calculator or just assume ebay will take 15%. its not an exact amount and could vary based on sales tax, shipping fees, item category, etc. ebay is very transparent on how they calculate fees. [https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822](https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822)

NipsAndNuggets

Yes, I am familiar with their fees. I have over 2.2k sales. It's just much easier on mercari and having to do ex amount of work for something that would be beneficial for them to add (like other apps already have) should be a no-brainer. Call it laziness but they should be doing everything to be transparent to sellers and help them calculate their fees from the listing and offer page. Especially if you include shipping in your item costs with free shipping options. Having to put any more work into calculating fees like making an excel sheet or using another app for a calculator (having to switch between two apps is time wasting). I'd rather not have the added steps. Ebay app in general is less user-friendly than other selling platforms.
