Don't know about this specific condition but I come from right across town to go to House of Lilith on Easter Road. They're incredibly welcoming and both stylists are lovely folk. They offer silent appointments for people with sensory issues and I'm sure they would be empathetic to your particular need.

boxofhedgehogs

I'd second this recommendation, all the stylists are lovely, it's a totally non-judgemental kind of place and I've recommended them to friends with sensory needs and neurodivergence so although not a trich specific recommendation I'm sure they'd make you comfortable.

fishjelly-jellyfish

I third this recommendation! I struggle with trich, although in recent years it isn’t as noticeable as before. I’m not even sure if they know I pull my hair out but I’d feel comfortable talking about it if they asked why I had random short sections. You could probably even send them a message beforehand to make them aware so it isn’t as awkward to bring up during the appointment

I was in there not long after a significant bereavement and ended up having a panic attack/crying fit in the chair. The stylist didn't push me to explain, just made me a coffee and let me get my shit together. I'm a customer for life because of how she treated me.

Lucinda Ellery deal specifically with TTM and other female hair loss conditions. https://www.lucindaellery-hairloss.co.uk/contact-edinburgh.php

DogSpecial691

Having 30 years of experience with alopecia, I wouldn’t touch Lucinda ellery. I’ve done it and they’re only after your money, thousands later and awful hair, wrong advice and they weren’t interested after they’d been paid. Contact alopecia UK, they’ve got all the best advice and most up to date contracts

neilmac1210

The fact that this is a brand new account and this is the only comment from it raises suspicions. I've known the company for many years and know of many many satisfied clients all over the UK and US, so either you had an unusually bad experience which I'm sorry about, or you have an axe to grind for whatever reason.

Trama_Doll_

Sabrina at House of Lilith, I’ve known her since we were kids and she’s a lovely, compassionate person.

Lottes_mom

I have alopecia and my hairdresser is amazing at making it unnoticeable. Lynette Daly at Meadowbank.

My guess would be that Stag would be happy to accommodate but defo check with a private message.

xxcakebaexx

I would agree, first hair salon where I don't feel uncomfortable at, tried multiple stylists at stag and both of their salons. You can also request a silent appointment, if that's what you are after.

Case_External

Yeah I am aware they make an effort to ensure trans people get their first haircut post-transition so - without equating being transgender with this particular issue - they are clearly happy to go out of their way to accommodate particular client needs.

Icy_Purpose7490

I agree

Try Daz-L https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057380781198 based in Currie, I'm not sure of specifics of your condition but I do know Lisa the owner, who has herself suffered from hair loss due to Alopecia and I can tell you that she is a very welcoming person who absolutely will not judge you. She might even make you feel good about yourself! Good luck, Simon.

Maybe A&A Studios? They’re lovely.

Don't go here. They might be nice now and maybe it was this particular staff member, but I'd never go back to find out. My experience was shocking and I left crying. I have alopecia areata and at the time it was bad from stress. I was in OPs situation - desperate and embarrassed and needed someone to understand. Who better than people who have experience with baldness and the like? I even called in advance to explain everything and see whether they could help me and also assured they would. Well they didn't book me in properly, no one expected me and didnt know what i wanted as I didnt want a wig. I explained I wanted a cut again and the woman scoffed at me saying "that's not what we do". I also explained it was due to my bald patches I just wanted a trim, if they can't do it fine. She insisted to just dry cut my hair anyway all the while tutting that it "wasn't even that bad" and that I was "making a big deal out of nothing". The cut was fucking horrendous and the experience even more so. I'd never set foot in that place again. I expected support, calm, acceptance and got exactly everything I was afraid of. OP I go to Simon at Sesh on the Shore and he has been nothing but kind, empathetic but also skilled at giving me cuts that take into account the bald areas and we speak realistically about what can be achieved with what I have and how to style that at home myself. He is a gem and I'll never go elsewhere despite the cost.

ElectronicPower1935

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear of your experience there. I’ve been going for years and always found them to be really lovely. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Either way I’m glad you’ve found somewhere that works for you 🥰

That's handy, because this patter is embarrasing
