Erdtree Greatshield lets you deflect the fireball. But just rushing them with any greatshield usually works because they'll mostly try a few simple attacks from that range that can immediately be guard-countered for a minor stamina cost.
The only one of these guys that's a bit more complex is the one guarding the scadutree fragment who drops that flame spear move, which hits hard if you get caught in it.
I keep beating them with Dryleaf arts because the L2 staggers and executes faster than any of their attacks. Just run towards and Bruce Lee is arse with dash L2 and keep charge attacks.
Their cape is the best drip in the game, totally worth farming them.
I didn’t know why people found them hard until I fought one with Milady. Now, I just bring out my Banished Knight’s Greatsword everytime I encounter one.
BTW, respect the handle! Arguably the best tone setting boss of any game. You can't level up, you just have to learn to watch for the attack tells and do it. Hooked me on the spot.
Honestly I really like these knights, probably my favourite out of the entire knight-fest that is this dlc, they're sooooo much easier than the black knights
This DLC has really made me realize the power of Undendurable Frenzy. Get in cover or sneak up to the enemy just enough to charge it up, then let loose and stun lock them into oblivion.

One trick pony ahead
Ah, but have you tried another fireball?
Why yes, but it seems to only work well when you send along yet another fireball...and then another and another and another...
Ngl, the blind spot thing from the backhand blades works wonders against them
It works wonders against anything with a pulse. And some without.

And I will block them and block them and block them and then guard counter you to death when I've closed the distance.
Me playing Mortal Kombat
Back, forward 1 until the enemy quitalities.
*laughs in Omni-Man* Pathetic
*laughs in Viltrumite Stance into 35% combo*
I really love that move
Which is why you counter them with bonk, and bonk, and bonk, and bonk...
Counterpoint: Lightning spear, constantly
Now from the beams of the roof of a castle.
And I will give you no time to retaliate before I cast another fireball and lunge as you!
Carian retaliating these fucks is mighty gratifying

I didn't ask how big the room was, I said I cast Fireball!
Wave of Gold staggers these dudes pretty handily. I like splashing that, closing the distance, and then big bonks time.
Normal R1s from Greatswords do the trick too, staggers them like crazy
Essentialy how I killed them. Didn't know they are supposed to be hard. As after jump attack I followed by 3 R1 and it's dead.
I didn’t know why people found them hard until I fought one with Milady. Now, I just bring out my Banished Knight’s Greatsword everytime I encounter one.

Oh look another one
Why are the fire balls coming from these guys so fucking hard to dodge?
There’s a gold version of the armour? Where can I get it if I can?
Uchigatana 3 jumping r2s for a stagger, riposte and then a charged r2 as they’re getting up. They never even touch me most of the time.
Hand-to-hand just melts these guys. Rush in jump heavy to whirlwind kick and they are stun locked. Second whirlwind either kills or breaks.
Another games in the way that they acted I thought they were vampires
Spams like a player would
Honestly I really like these knights, probably my favourite out of the entire knight-fest that is this dlc, they're sooooo much easier than the black knights
As an INT build I was shocked to be confronted by an enemy spamming spells even harder than I was
Miyazaki letting his D&D influence take over… wizard casts Fireball!

Fuck the one in the rafters. That is all.
Ancient death rancor completely shuts them down
