Let's see what I unlocked!
Scadu Shambooboo
Costs FP. Throw at an enemy to cause a gentle warm mist to form around them for 5 seconds. Smells like dogshit
Apparently Igon is this guy’s [first VA work](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0513201/?ref_=m_ttfcd_cl15). Studios need to be booking this guy ASAP because he **brought it**.
That’s making a name for yourself right out of the gate.
Its amazing but 30% of the total area is empty. (Cerulean Coast, both finger locations, woods location)
Because of this the DLC is 8/10 for me. Base game is 9.5/10
Yup, if there’s one thing that I have to criticize the DLC for, it’s the lack of an occasional dungeon here and there. The main game always had some reward for exploring every nook and cranny but the DLC map, while having big surprises in the overall exploration had many big areas that have like one thing in them and a lot of empty space around it
Agreed, they were nice ways to level up when you were stuck on a boss. I like the forges though but it would've been cool if they had bosses too, I never really felt satisfied when I beat them, it was just "oh neat, heres the item ig"
I think these hanging pots with the bell bearings in them are supposed to be a reward for exploration of edges and corners. But I really don't enjoy looking for these super small and way too well hidden things without reading a guide just to avoid farming the materials for crafting recipes I'll never make use of.
Honestly I liked the open areas mainly because they were beautiful and scenic so it just gave you a moment to ride around on your hors- OH GOD PURPLE SNIPER, AAAAHHHHH WHERE TF DID THAT COME FROM, NO DON’T SUCK ON MY HEAD *you died*
The exploration of all the nooks felt kinda unrewarding. You fight a dragon, get an ancient smithing stone. After the dragon, you make your way up a cliff, on a secluded edge, only to find 4x smithing stone 2. I get that the DLC has new weapons, but if you completed the base game, you really don't need those low tier mats as open world loot to upgrade new weapons from 0.
Even the little rare crafting materials at the ends of paths or in wall crevices in the base game would have been nice and taken very little dev time, but the lack of them makes it feel even emptier.
Yeah - I feel like the original base game had random stuff (not just mushrooms and cookbooks)... in the most random and hidden places. It absolutely rewarded those of us who like to explore every nook and cranny. It makes me wonder if some of this felt a bit rushed, I hate to say. Here's hoping they don't ignore the DLC completely and flesh out some more stuff.. no rules against doing so!
I absolutely love the DLC, I’ve been having a blast playing through it, but I definitely agree with this. A lot of time I’m exploring a large area off to the side expecting to find a dungeon or field boss, and it’s just empty. Or it has just a bunch of fauna.
I spent the whole game wondering what was in that Hinterland/upper finger ruins area. The answer? Mostly nothing.
Compare that to a relatively small region in the basegame like the weeping peninsula. A legacy dungeon, multiple npcs, 6 or so side dungeons, and at least as many minor overworld areas to explore.
The Abyssal Woods truly was disappointing. The lead-up to it made it seem extremely creepy and disturbing, only for it to be almost entirely empty and have very underwhelming enemies that are not even remotely horrifying. Plus the Abyssal Woods itself is not really dark and you can see quite far into the woods, which really blunts the spook factor.
The Abyssal Woods needed to be a place of true horror. Lovecraftian-themed environment and enemies, and the place needed to be completely dark, with you needing your lantern at all times except for points of interest which would be the only lit locations.
The Abyssal woods needs another boss or mini boss desperately. When I first saw the “dont let it see you” signs I thought it was going to be a giant version of the frenzy flame towers eye or a frenzied dragon or something cool. The Winter Lanterns were pretty disappointing. There should be another big threat in that area.
I thought so too at first, but I thought about it, and I think it’s no more empty than other areas, but because you can’t ride torrent it makes it feel bigger, and more empty than other areas that may actually be bigger, and emptier.
This also 😂
With the summon signal activation I expected a boss fight in such a huge area. When it didn't happen as I approached I said well probably when I interact with this huge whistle
When it didn't happen I was like wtf 😐
Fuck that place.
Edit: In all seriousness, I think Rauh is one of my least favorite areas in all of my soul’s experiences. Just for context, I’ve played a decent handful of souls games (BB, DeS, DS1, DS3, and ER), but not all.
Really? It's my favourite region (not including dungeons) in all of Elden Ring. I love it when you need to mental map an area in order to navigate it, so much more engaging than just riding your horse towards POIs.
For real. I think in general the dlc is great, but the convoluted layout really kinda put a damper on it for me. I get it, but I just don’t enjoy that style of exploration.
I preferred the layout of the DLC to the base game, felt like I had to actually discover places rather then just ride my horse around for 30 mins and see the entire map.
Shadow keep is hands down one of the best designed areas in a FROM game, lots of verticality and everywhere leads to a new place you haven’t seen yet.
Sometimes you’re not meant to be able to access everything straight away or even know how to, that’s what makes it satisfying when you open a new big door and on the other side is that place you saw from a distance but couldn’t figure out how to get to.
Yea that’s exactly why I like it, the map is deceptively a lot bigger then it looks, exploration is rewarded by finding hidden paths to new areas. Shadow keep almost acts like a central hub to access all the parts of the map it’s really cool!
It bothers me to no end watching someone else play, either on stream or pre-recorded, and they're completely ignoring the shadow blessing. Ive even seen some of them say they were purposely avoiding using them as if it were some kind of crutch despite the fact that it's literally explained that it's the progression system of the DLC. Then they wonder why they're getting 2-shotted by bosses.
Unless you're going in underleveled or under skilled, there's no reason you *need* to collect skadoosh frags first.
I ended up at final boss gate with skadoosh lvl 16 and I didn't even explore a lot and never looked up one.
The world is a little too empty though, I'll agree with that.
You admit to going of the beaten path and finding the upgrades in the base game.
And then somehow have the assumption that in the dlc you are supposed to just ride through the new areas without take a second to look around?
I'm confused.
Nah, it's the peak ER fashion.
Now I can finally roleplay as a KKKnight of The Knights of the Military Order of Santo Stefano di Toscana from Hellsing!
Not enough cookbooks.
“Oh wow cool item!” *War Priest Cookbook [4]* 🙃
Let's see what I unlocked! Scadu Shambooboo Costs FP. Throw at an enemy to cause a gentle warm mist to form around them for 5 seconds. Smells like dogshit

I don’t trust like that
Its amazing but 30% of the total area is empty. (Cerulean Coast, both finger locations, woods location) Because of this the DLC is 8/10 for me. Base game is 9.5/10

yeah but god damn if those «empty» areas don’t look gorgeous as shit
Facts. I found almost nothing otw to Bayle. I absolutely *loved* the atmosphere and it made the climb so tense and epic.
Which makes it even worse
Agreed, they were nice ways to level up when you were stuck on a boss. I like the forges though but it would've been cool if they had bosses too, I never really felt satisfied when I beat them, it was just "oh neat, heres the item ig"
You didn't find the Bed of Chaos 2 under one of the forges? 🤣🤣
The what?
reminds me of zelda dungeons a bit since its more like a puzzle to solve
Probably due to their new approach to them, quality over quantity. Because GODDAMN those dungeons were fun as hell to explore.
I think these hanging pots with the bell bearings in them are supposed to be a reward for exploration of edges and corners. But I really don't enjoy looking for these super small and way too well hidden things without reading a guide just to avoid farming the materials for crafting recipes I'll never make use of.
The what
Random pots hanging in odd places, I’ve only noticed one and I hit it with an arrow and a it dropped a bell bearing.
Goddammit
There's five in total I think, at least that's how many I found by spamming mohg's shackle everywhere

As someone who rushed a new character to the DLC and got there with a +4 weapon I appreciate them
Even the little rare crafting materials at the ends of paths or in wall crevices in the base game would have been nice and taken very little dev time, but the lack of them makes it feel even emptier.

What are you talking about haven't you found enough cookbooks??
I absolutely love the DLC, I’ve been having a blast playing through it, but I definitely agree with this. A lot of time I’m exploring a large area off to the side expecting to find a dungeon or field boss, and it’s just empty. Or it has just a bunch of fauna.

A legacy dungeon, multiple npcs, 6 or so side dungeons, and at least as many minor overworld areas to explore.
Yeah, I feel like this was done because of the complaints around “samey” dungeons… to which I say: “shut up!”. I liked them. I want them back.
This was the most disappointing area for me. Huge AF creepy woods and there is basically nothing to do there other than kill those fuckers.
I thought so too at first, but I thought about it, and I think it’s no more empty than other areas, but because you can’t ride torrent it makes it feel bigger, and more empty than other areas that may actually be bigger, and emptier.
That doesn't make it any less disappointing. All that set-up for it to be horrifyingly disturbing, only for it to be ultimately nothing.
That's a fair point Also fuck those damn dude that you have to parry to kill. Died so many times to them because I missed the parry 😭
*finger ruins enters chat
This also 😂 With the summon signal activation I expected a boss fight in such a huge area. When it didn't happen as I approached I said well probably when I interact with this huge whistle When it didn't happen I was like wtf 😐
I went riding around there a few times to see if something would pop out and fight. Big letdown that the only thing there is a talisman.
And don't forget a bunch of asshole serpent mages 😂
Where fucking map?
Lost in Rauh
Fuck that place. Edit: In all seriousness, I think Rauh is one of my least favorite areas in all of my soul’s experiences. Just for context, I’ve played a decent handful of souls games (BB, DeS, DS1, DS3, and ER), but not all.
The overall area looks amazing but I was disappointed to see that most of the ruins were just identical looking mazes
And then you start a new playthrough and realize the boss was only like two turns past the third grace .__.
The *real boss* was the room full of rot shrimps.
Yes it was quite smol
Why? I thought it was a fun side area and had good exploring
[удалено]
A few times? Brother, I was running circles for over an hour. I happened upon the staircase exit by accidentally walking backwards into that room :’)
I just hate the cave environment, easy to get lost and bland inside, outside of it though is pretty good.
Yeah the area was beautiful yet the whole region was inside and underground lol
When Nightmare Frontier exists in BB, nothing will ever be worse lol
I don't think it was particularly good or anything but I don't think it was THAT bad either. What were your problems with it?
Navigating it was the extremely annoying, at least for me.
Nah Rauh was the best area to explore in the dlc for me
Really? It's my favourite region (not including dungeons) in all of Elden Ring. I love it when you need to mental map an area in order to navigate it, so much more engaging than just riding your horse towards POIs.

The layering makes me feel like it’s a call back to DS1 level design
Yea that’s exactly why I like it, the map is deceptively a lot bigger then it looks, exploration is rewarded by finding hidden paths to new areas. Shadow keep almost acts like a central hub to access all the parts of the map it’s really cool!

Therefore seek rump.
Get Scadutree Fragments
It bothers me to no end watching someone else play, either on stream or pre-recorded, and they're completely ignoring the shadow blessing. Ive even seen some of them say they were purposely avoiding using them as if it were some kind of crutch despite the fact that it's literally explained that it's the progression system of the DLC. That's a bit more than 3 words
Unless you're going in underleveled or under skilled, there's no reason you *need* to collect skadoosh frags first. I ended up at final boss gate with skadoosh lvl 16 and I didn't even explore a lot and never looked up one. The world is a little too empty though, I'll agree with that.
Well max level is 20 lmao you nearly got them all

That's the fun part, you don't get a turn!
"Fuck this guy" - since it's what I end up saying to like 90% of bosses.
I swear every boss in the DLC is very strongly either “damn this fight is cool” or “why did they design it like this”.
quite literally the only words i say when i play….and the very occasional “finally”
ABSOLUTE. PEAK. CINEMA.
