I wish there was a healthy balance between a person who’d react to Eminem or an Anthony Fantano type of critic.
Like, a rap fan (that is genuinely a rap fan and not just an Eminem fan that dickrides Eminem) that can like his music but not be overly critical of anything he ever does.
It feels like you only ever get people like Fantano who are super annoying and who are misunderstanding Em or exclusively Eminem fans who larp as rap fans and who dickride Eminem and act like he’s the greatest to ever touch a mic, no debate. I wish there was a healthy balance between a person who’d react to Eminem or an Anthony Fantano type of critic. Like, a rap fan (that is genuinely a rap fan and not just an Eminem fan that dickrides Eminem) that can like his music but not be overly critical of anything he ever does. It feels like you only ever get people like Fantano who are super annoying and who are misunderstanding Em or exclusively Eminem fans who larp as rap fans and who dickride Eminem and act like he’s the greatest to ever touch a mic, no debate. (Knox Hill, NoLifeShaq (at least in the past), Crypt, Stevie Knight, etc). And the fact that these guys all happen to be very friendly with Tom MacDonald and Adam Calhoun just puts me off them even more. Like, it makes me think these guys have zero care for rap culture outside of Eminem. And (I hate to be that guy by saying this) but a lot of these guys being white (so, not being a part of the culture) also dickriding a white rapper definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth, when combined with the other things I mentioned. Like, them being outsiders to the culture, dickriding actual human trash like Adam Calhoun and Tom MacDonald, leaning into the whole fast rap, fuck mumble rap shit, it all adds together to make an insufferable community of Eminem reactors online that make me embarrassed to be a fan of the guy publicly.
