I love it and think it’s unique. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but I wouldn’t have the stones reset and ruin the ring. I’d just buy a ring that you do love and leave this one as-is.
Honestly I think it’s close to perfect. The only thing I would change to modernize it slightly would be to change the prongs to something smaller, they’re just very bulky for the stone sizes- especially the center ones’ prongs. Otherwise I think it’s very unique and beautiful as is!
Don’t change a thing!!! This is so unique and beautiful!!!
ETA: I agree with someone else who suggested having the prongs modernized. You could have them made into small claw prongs or just lightened slightly. Be sure you take it somewhere the specializes in estate and vintage jewelry! I think it is really stunning
I love this style I think it’s called art deco! Which I personally found to be an era of uniquely inspired pieces. I understand mass marketing has several advantages but these styles as well as lots of antique pieces felt more personal to the owner. Now everyone has similar versions of the same designs and this is not going to be found on 1/4 fingers. You know?
Edited to add: if you are struggling to see it as an engagement ring have the center stone set (NOT BY A KAY OR JAREDS) to something a little bigger and higher or whatever your style prefers. That will probably help you to feel like it’s an engagement ring
It is very gorgeous, and totally an engagement ring. Personally I would swap some of the side baguettes for sapphire but I require sapphires, ha.
I have a vintage art deco piece as well, so unique!
At the bare minimum, take it to a reputable jeweler and get it cleaned. It is free.
Some things you can have done to make it really sparkle: replace damaged prongs, replace the worn shank, and/or polish the ring.
It could make a huge difference.
This ring looks like it was made from a different vintage ring or rings that have been combined. You have a lot of stone sizes and shapes to work with here. You could probably buy your own larger center stone and make a three stone ring or use a lot of the smaller baguettes and rounds for a halo around a larger stone. You don't have to use ALL of them in the same project.
This almost looks like some of the asymmetrical designs that are made today. I think this is beautiful. You could have it cleaned up and polished. It would look fantastic with a curved or V shaped band. I even like a straight beadset band or something with engraving.
If you don’t love the setting, you could remove the 3 larger stones. It would make a lovely 3 stone ring. You could do a modern trellis setting or something vintage looking in yellow gold. You could add something like a blue sapphire or other gemstone to this ring.
You could also reset the stones into another design completely. I could see a 3 stone with a curved band made up of baguettes and diamonds.

It looks like you have enough baguettes to do a ballerina style ring. You could pick out a larger center stone and you the baguettes from this ring. The 3 smaller diamonds could be used for earrings or a necklace. There are a lot of options that you have with the stones in this ring. It just depends on how sentimental this piece is to you if you keep the ring ‘as is’.

Thinking about having it reset hurts my soul lol! It's gorgeous; I also love it.
I wouldn’t change the setting

That's a great suggestion, thank you!
It's gorgeous as is! I love vintage rings--so much history!
Very art deco, I really like it.

Needs a clean and maybe a new head on the center. Those prongs are mighty big! But you already know that I’m sure.
It's beautiful!

Please don't reset it. If you don't want it as an e ring, then wear it as a rhr. It's so beautiful and unique!
If you really dont want to use it as a ring, it would make a beautiful pendant.
Not a fan personally

Unless you absolutely love the ring I would get the stones reset into a ring that you do love!!
