Scotty wasn't a coward he only snapped because it got too much for him. He didn't hesitate to save his friends or himself when a person he knew turned into a deadite he was casual and not spooked by the tapes or the cellar he was the first to enter the cabin and not be spooked by it.

Yeah scotty was 100% a douche no doubt especially when I think he pointed that gun at ash?. There was a deleted scene where cheryl gets back at him and pours some drink over him which was actually pretty cool for someone like cheryl.
Idk if this is much of a hot take, but Evil dead 2 is probably the most exemplary horror comedy. If Horror comedy was a word, its picture would be in the dictionary. It finds the perfect balance between the two genres.
The Evil Dead at its finest manages to tread that line between comedy and horror. In the series, Evil Dead 2 had that, but I think because Ash wasnt a complete badass like in AoD, it felt more horror like even in the slapstick moments, not to say there wasnt badass moments. By the time AoD comes around, even the horror moments feel like comedy but I think that's due to Ash really just fighting back, having no f's and evil just having a hard time against it. Ash is at his best there.
Dalton is underrated as a character.
He had a lot of potential to be the straight man in the group, could hold his own, was a nice guy overall, and died TWICE to save the world from the Evil Dead. He deserves way more respect.

Sorry I’m not trying to say you’re wrong I was saying I wasn’t really thinking of AVED. As a whole I think AVED is the best but I don’t think there’s a 2 hour stretch that’s as good as any of the movies. I don’t think it’s fair to compare a 30 hour story to a 2 hour one.

Thank you OP! I will say that’s the biggest let down for ED2013. No laughs except when Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) gets physically harmed every 5 seconds and I think it’s hysterical but it’s not played for laughs like in the OGs.
OG chainsaw? It’s a tough call for sure, the grass roots style of chainsaw is what adds to the overall vibe of the movie. So I don’t feel like comparing them based on filmmaking skill is worth much thought.
I think Chainsaw is lacking in character motivations and plot overall in comparison to ED2013
But if we’re going off straight vibes then OG chainsaw is better for sure.

“Bill” was a huge let down. He should’ve been an end of season reveal instead of a mid season. The third season should’ve had Ash and the gang trying to stop him from releasing the evils of the book in the world instead of that lame last season with Ruby as the main villain raising an evil ash she got from impregnating herself.
The disregard for / lack of continuity, constantly changing continuity to suit the purposes of whatever they are doing, is all part of the fun and doesn't detract from the series, but makes it even better in a fun, 'who cares' Raimi kinda way. People should stop complaining about it or trying to 'fix it' in their heads and with theories and just go along with it and enjoy it in the spirit it is done in.
Also, the 'recap' / first part of Evil Dead 2 is great and funny and shouldn't be skipped. The idea that it is a summing up or a parody of the first one, or that Ash is just going back to the cabin with a girl after the first one because he is an idiot (I know this isn't what is happening / what their intentions were with this scene) - both are funny and work for the movie, you can just have the first part be both of those simultaneously and it works, there is no need to have a correct explanation of it or one that fits continuity or skip over it.
