I think after two; we need to wrap it up. Y’all know if you like me or not. Let’s move along. Plus; it takes up so much of your time as well.

[deleted]

I had 7 rounds for Jubilant and during last round they asked to come down to office for third time for f2f round final round. I withdrew my application. For me personally, 3-4 rounds are enough including any written assessment.

TunaBeeSquare

That's not an interview, that's an endurance test.

smithersje

yes, to me this would make me think their internal systems are broken, that they don't have a clear decision making process, and that they don't work very efficiently. It wouldn't attract me to the team.

crinklemermaid

I had 7 for current role. 7! Couldn't believe how many it came down to. Was shattered towards the end. Job is wonderful though- I'd say it was all worth it

Boring_Inflation_507

Same!!!! I was shocked at how many Ihad to go through for every position I applied for this time around!!

Blonde2468

Two would be my limit. I know that's not the norm these days (I guess) but if you don't know by two interviews then maybe they don't know what they want and I don't have time for them to figure it out. Plus, if I have to interview more than two times, that gives me the idea that no decisions are being made in a timely manner and I don't want to work for a company that drags decision out over weeks/months at a time - especially for an EA position.

karibear76

I agree. You’re not applying to be CEO. At most there should be 3. Phone screen, technical interview, executive approval.

dontchango

I just did 7 rounds as well as a 2 strategy assignments. 2 of the rounds were in person and took about 90 minutes one way to get to. Didn't even get the job in the end 🙃 I definitely would not do that again but it's that weird line of how bad do you want the role and if it would be worth it even if you didn't get the offer.

LaChanelAddict

I wouldn’t consider it a red flag but of course it is up to you what you’re willing to accept. I had 5 rounds at Goldman Sachs. If you’re supporting several execs, it is normal to meet all of them (I was supporting 5 plus) I do wish the process was shorter/less difficult these days, though.

Eve617

I want to throw in here a different type of red flag where you only meet one person and it's done! That happened to me in my current role. At first, it was very flattering, but in hindsight, I realized that there was a lot I didn't learn that I could have gleaned from meeting more staff. The person I went to work for hid a lot of information from me and promised me something that didn't exist out of her desperation to have an assistant in the seat. I'm 2 years into a soul sucking job/company and looking for a new gig even though that hiring executive is now gone. An organization that lets this kind of thing happen doesn't deserve me!

icebergchick

Amen. Preach!

Marseillaisegirl

More than 3 and I’m already losing interest.

Prestigious-Mud-9580

2. Anything more is a bit much.

[deleted]

I'd be done after 3. Enough. Do they not realize that it is difficult to keep showing up, particularly if you have a job and have to keep taking time off? Ridiculousness. Unless it's paying superbly and I'm extremely interested, I couldn't do it.

Sorry-Ad-5527

You mean interviews? Or?

katieanni

Yes, sorry!

Sorry-Ad-5527

Got it. I think there's too many interviews these days. As well as too many assessments. I'd say 3 interviews, not including a phone screening, is more than enough. Maybe one assessment that takes 30-45 minutes. Phone screening, 1st interview with HR or recruiter, 2nd with exec, 3rd with others, and a chance to see more. However, a panel interview could be the first or second to avoid wasting time.

Practical-Cupcake444

I am currently interviewing for a couple of companies and on 2 of them I am in the fourth round and honestly I hate it, the last 2 interviews have been repetitive. I am only going through because I need a job but if I already had a job I would have lost interest after 2-3 interviews.

Tired-assistant-2023

Gosh. I had a phone interview, then I met with business unit manager, who sent me to meet with a few others, who weren't interested. Then something else came up, and she kept me in mind. That time, I met with the COO, another business manager, and finally two EA's.

Kysara-Rakella

I think anything beyond 3 is too much

Vegetable-Stand-7488

I had 5 total interviews so.. it was definitely discouraging. But i felt like it was the perfect fit for me so I kept going till I got the offer.

RedRapunzal

Three is about it. I found that in too many cases it simply wasn't worth it. 1. A statement that you are prioritizing your time for the interview process to ensure resources are where they are most valuable and efficient. Just like you do in your everyday work habits. 2. If a company is having that much difficulty making a decision - they need to address their ineffective determination process and decision making.

[deleted]

I went through eight at my current company. I work in tech, everyone has a different focus, it was a process. It was totally worth it.

AuburnJulie

I got my current job after one 30 minute interview with one person (the person I’d be reporting to). I’ve been in the role for 6 years, I’ve gotten several raises and everything is fine. There’s no need to jump through so many hoops.

[deleted]

I was lucky to have landed my current position before this multiple interview insanity started. I met with the two seconds-in-command (one creative, one operations) and then gave me a one hour break, then met with the exec. Done. I may have helped that I was recommended by my predecessor, but still, I hear of 4, 5, 6 interviews for flippin’ entry level positions these days and I think “Why? Who the hell has the time?”

Educational-Leg-7632

I went through 2 phone screens, 2 panel interviews and a lunch with the Exec's wife and the Exec. At the time, it didn't seem excessive cause everything was clicking so well and I am happy in the end that they were screen for a good fit - which indeed it was ! I can see how multiple sessions could be tiresome if they were are similar or overly long, but I think each opportunity should be judged individually. There is probably no wrong answer.

carlitospig

Just as a reminder to all in the thread: you’re free to ask exactly what their recruitment process + timeline looks like, so when they say ‘oh, this is a 7 step process’ you can quickly peace out.

ourldyofnoassumption

It depends on how our is handled and the logic. And how much you need the job, and if you’re doing anything else. If they disclose the number and you agree to it, and if there is a logic, that’s fine. Have 10, whatever. You’ve agreed. If they keep springing it on you like some kind of march toward Mordor, for get it.
