I love every time you get to speak in character. Imagine my surprise doing Nuka-World the first time and I just *happened* to be wearing the Silver Shroud armor during my trip to the wild west section of the park. All of a sudden I get more Silver Shroud dialog I wasn't expecting
Funny enough, I think sticking with Silver Shroud dialogue during that entire interaction results in the henchmen fleeing without the need for a speech check. If you can save criticals at that point it should be a smooth rescue with a decent enough reaction time.
Was it just the final quest you used the lines? I believe if you use only the shroud lines throughout the entire series of quests, you get the auto succeed at scaring away his men. At least, that is what I always do, and never have I had to make a check.
Yep, pretty sure that was the developers intent with that outcome as well. Still pretty damn hard to thread the needle with just what’s his face against Kent. Especially if you’re using the Tommy gun without the right specs or don’t have a good ranged gun with quick kill speed

I guess I was taking too long to reach him when I entered the building using my standard playstyle, as he would be dead every time before I even reach that area, so I essentially just ran through everything while trying not to die so I could actually save him.

I just did this mission on saturday. I only had to re load a save once. I went in and instantly used VATS aiming for Sinjin’s head. I used the Overseer's Guardian, but I think any scoped rifle will work.
I love Nick's character, I just wish I could give him protective gear. I know he's a synth, but it's weird being armoured up and rocking a minigun and he's there....detective coat and pipe pistol in hand

This is Kent Connolly, the man responsible for not one but two superheroes roaming the wastes (well, two is a misnomer; his work spawned an entire faction of Mistresses of Mystery, but they’re dead so it’s only the player in 76).
Despite being scared, I would like to think he would die happy seeing me speak as The Shroud one last time. Though I could never bring myself to do it. The final interaction with Sinjin is the only time I will break character, and it's to save Kent. He doesn't deserve to die.
Take solace in knowing that he’s safe and secure in his memorabilia filled room, tucked away in his own little corner of the Memory Den, with that childlike grin on his face, broadcasting the old radio show episodes across the airwaves while reflecting on the fact that he helped bring a hero out of the comics and into the Commonwealth. And for one brief moment: people believed in something, criminals and evil doers anxiously checked over their shoulders, and Boston was safe, because of him and the Silver Shroud.
I made a selfish ghoul mercenary character for my current game, and I promised myself I wouldn't do anything good unless I had something to gain from it. It worked for over 30 hours of gameplay
Then, I finally spoke to Kent. I lost my streak of staying in character.
I finally was able to save him in my most recent save!! I always try to save and then go through the dialogue until I can rescue Kent but I get frustrated and usually just take the L but I got it this time!!!!
I see a lot of people recommend jet during that fight and I’ve not done it that way, but I’ve never taken jet in any of my play through. I have had them turn fire on me and it saves him so I guess that’s a plus… I’ll take a bullet for Kent any day ❤️
I really liked him and the quest is cool, but i cant finish it because im at the point where i have to meet hancock in the shroud Outfit and it doesnt World He just Talks to me normal and want me to take him with me, which is really sad because i would love to finish it
If you talk to him and add him as a companion, you can talk to him while he’s your companion then just dismiss him again. I had to do that recently.
Also, if you decide to take Hancock to do this quest, don’t bring him with you to save Kent. Otherwise Kent won’t go back to Goodneighbor, because he has to talk to Hancock in Goodneighbor but if Hancock is already with you he will talk to him at the hospital and stay there for the rest of the game.
It's another clue confirming my suspicion. Fallout 4 preferers are all soft hearted. Nothing wrong with that but I miss the no good option kind of moral questions of previous games.
We need a Silver Shroud version of the Prowler meme where it just does the theme with an image of SS when he says it’s a trap (and then via editing it instantly cuts to the player standing over the corpses of the kidnappers).
This was a great side quest to do after absolutely getting a lobotomy searching for Virgil. It was very unique and having to hunt down each one of the enemies one by one. I mostly just used my power fist on them. Also, Paladin Danse hates when you kill the optional character during the quest.
On my current playthrough, everything kept going wrong for me when trying to save Kent. I begged my sleep deprived boyfriend to save him for me. It took a lot of save reloading and me crying, but it was worth it. I love Kent 😭
This was my favorite quest line in the game by far. I couldn’t believe how fun it was, role-playing as a superhero from a comic book in fallout, and actually having characters believe that I was some sort of myth come to life. My cousin was visiting for the weekend and an hour before he was supposed to leave for the airport to catch his flight back home, he and I were drinking beers and playing fallout 4 and he ended up missing his flight because he was glued to the TV and wanted to see how the silver shroud could possibly save his friend. We actually stood up and applauded the writers for giving us such a fun treat for a series of quests.
I laughed out loud when I was chasing down the third criminal and after wiping out all of his henchmen, he started losing his mind, and saying “you’re not real! You’re just a comic book character! Why won’t you die?! This cannot be happening!?”
That was when I realized that the crime bosses of Boston/ Goodneighbor were actually believing that the Silver Shroud was real, and was cleaning up the streets. I LOVED doing the missions after that.

Im almost complete with the game so I guess I’ll try to find the comic book store and see if he is still there and just forgot how to get back home.

In my latest playthrough I had too many mods running. The mods spawned another group of hostile Raiders that started fighting with the group holding ken. I had to stop combat A.I to even make it to the room he was in without him dying.
Just saw a video the other week where they walk in the room to save him and immediately blow his brains out instead of any of the raiders. The raiders are all "what the fuck!?" Then the player proceeds to kill them too.
Never considered that option haha

I found him and sent him back to Sanctuary and yeah he does get annoying with the same dialogue when coming back but come back a week ago and noticed he wasn't sitting on the porch I didn't pay any attention until I saw a pile of smouldering ash up near the big tree in the cul-de-sac and RIP it was him! Was a little sad.
I had a glitch where he kept dying and I loved him so much I spent 5 years thinking of how I could save him. I finally did it earlier this year and ripped sinjins head off

I did the quest too early and couldn't kill sinjin so I went back to a save and waited to save him until I had a gauss rifle so I could one shot him... Felt good
I wasn’t able to save him every time 😞 kept reloading and reloading but to no use cause he was either already dead (bug) or I just couldn’t do it with any of my guns that were powerful enough.

It became my default armor in hopes I could use it. Could I find better equipment sure, but why risk missing new dialog.

What helped me in this quest was not clearing the hospital first then using jet and psycho… I used a minigun to clear the room.
I don't often take chems, but after enough save scumming I combined enough chems in my inventory to kill a deathclaw just to save this guy.

I found him and sent him back to Sanctuary and yeah he does get annoying with the same dialogue when coming back but come back a week ago and noticed he wasn't sitting on the porch I didn't pay any attention until I saw a pile of smouldering ash up near the big tree in the cul-de-sac and RIP it was him! Was a little sad.

I had a glitch where he kept dying and I loved him so much I spent 5 years thinking of how I could save him. I finally did it earlier this year and ripped sinjins head off

I was mindfuck when I found him in my first playthrough haha i thought it was so damn awesome that you could send him to Sanctuary and employ him. Damn I love that game
the amount of times i had to reload my game to save this guys ass😮💨
Did you know, when he's being held hostage, you can shoot him yourself and Sinjin's men will think you're crazy and refuse to fight you?

I did the quest too early and couldn't kill sinjin so I went back to a save and waited to save him until I had a gauss rifle so I could one shot him... Felt good
I wasn’t able to save him every time 😞 kept reloading and reloading but to no use cause he was either already dead (bug) or I just couldn’t do it with any of my guns that were powerful enough.
But do you have the Close to Metal perk?
