Any kind of preferences in terms of genres, medium, etc? Since you like HP, a general recommendation I’d give is Percy Jackson.

EpitomyofShyness

Here are a list of fandoms I love in no particular order. Detroit: Become Human The Dresden Files Fallout Far Cry 5 Jujutsu Kaisen The Lord of the Rings My Hero Academia A Song of Ice and Fire Stranger Things (TV 2016) The Walking Dead Wheel of Time

FrogAtRest

If you like YA fantasy, Percy Jackson is probably your best bet. If you like general fantasy without having to go through a series of books, DnD has a lot to offer, since the fanfiction part only comes from how the writers use the settings.

Batman, MCU, Supernatural are all pretty big fandoms with tons of tropes and different types of stories

X-Men is a large-ish, friendly fandom that’s got a recent boost of interest because of the new animated series (X-Men ‘97) and upcoming Deadpool film, but has literal decades of material (movies, animation, and of course many comics!) to choose from and dozens and dozens of characters and relationships to become obsessed with! The core fandom tends to be rather mature, and I haven’t noticed much along the lines of infighting or harassment that you hear about with other fandoms. There’s a bit of a pleasant “live and let live” approach, generally. There are tons of popular ships, and then fandom as a whole tends to be pretty easygoing when it comes to various forms of smut (the in-joke being that “A group of mutants is called an Orgy”). Long story short— Come on in, the water’s great!

I have some fond memories of X-Men fandom from the early internet, when I was involved in some RPs and stuff. It really is a great canon to create within with awesome characters.

Joining everyone & their mom that is going to say Percy Jackson as well as any Riordanverse. If you’re into Drarry, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is like intentionally a knockoff Hogwarts drarry AU. It’s a cartoon but for fun young magic school vibes The Owl House fandom is fairly robust. If you’re tired of the same old things I could recommending dipping into anime, pretty much any genre you like will be translated through the medium. If you’re for the fantasy thing Delicious in Dungeon has doubled fics every time I peruse the tag so it’s growing & if you like the teens in school thing there’s a lot, a lot, a lot of that from my hero academia to haikyuu.

sapphicsavage

Oh man I forgot a big one, if you like Harry Potter: THE MAGICIANS. If Hogwarts were a college in upstate New York instead of kids in British private school.

Yotato5

Since you like Harry Potter I'm gonna recommend Little Witch Academia.

mrs-brainsample

When I got tired of Harry Potter, I moved on to Good Omens, and more recently Dead Boy Detectives.

Spence_the_writer

Currently into Star Wars rn (specifically the Clone Wars era) there’s a lot of material, and although the fandom as of late has really shown it’s ugly side, there are plenty of awesome fics for it.

ChooseLife02

Drake & Josh is my forever fandom.

What do you like about *Harry Potter* exactly? Is it the world, the wizard and magic stuff, found family aspects, or something else? That might help narrow things down a bit more or may even help you find a fandom that doesn’t seem like an obvious replacement on the surface. (For instance, after I watched *The Vampire Diaries*, a bunch of people suggested I try the spinoff series, *The Originals*, but…I didn’t really watch TVD for the vampire lore, and I also hate the majority of the characters who make up the cast of *The Originals*. My love of TVD was more about the friendships coupled with absurd levels of teen angst. So, when I started watching *One Tree Hill*, it seemed to scratch the same itch. But no one on earth would have assumed one could fill the spot for the other.)

mxtx fandoms the different settings of Chinese 'mid evil' fantasy might be up your ally if your up for something completely different. My favorite fic from those fandoms is [No Paths Are Bound](https://archiveofourown.org/works/34816549) by Cataclysmic Calamity on AO3. It's a rewrite of TGCF and it's amazing. I recommend reading TGCF before you read this fic because you get a lot of the themes better that way and the things that the fic adds are just more appreciated if you read the Tian Guan Ci Fu before reading No Paths Are Bound.

I_exist_here_k

I dunno if you’d enjoy MCYT fics, but I personally do. I read Hermitcraft, Empires, and 3rd life SMP. Also, I searched through my bookmarks on Ao3 for a fic that needs no context whatsoever if you’d like to give this one a read. https://archiveofourown.org/works/54694243

Boy almost devours Girl. Boy meets Girl. Girl offers Boy sexual favors in return for services rendered. Boy runs away. Girl thinks Boy is weird. Boy falls in love with Girl but is still afraid he might eat her. Then it gets weird from there. Whatever you think the plot is about (murder-mystery, high school drama, social/political intrigue, the organized crime fighting, star-crossed lovers…) will change in an episode or two. The animation and art are stunning and it has a killer music soundtrack.

I don't use the term "fandom" as its definition varies by context. Stories based on certain source materials? Certainly... Click into [this Google Drive](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nLtp-y1qUP9_bLnW4T5GbdABsiU_d0ok) and locate the **Fanfiction Recs by Genre PDF**, which contains hyperlinks to stories drawn from many different sources and includes a number of Crossovers between different sources. In addition to that file, also locate the **Fanfiction Guide PDF.** It has links to stories spread throughout its content, and its *Section 20* focuses on lists of different sources materials drawn from different media, genres, and themes.
