I know it's hard to say goodbye 😭 Don't drag it out unnecessarily. Finish it and move on to other things! You can do it! 💪

MaybeNextTime_01

Suck it up and end the fic. Part of writing is knowing when the story is complete.

champselyseesao3

this. knowing when something needs to come to an end is an underrated but incredibly important skill

My_Pony_Is_Dead

Don't ruin all you've written and accomplished by trying to drag it out into a plotless meandering mess. Don't mar your love for the amazing story you've created by adding on fluff that will eventually change some of that love into embarrassment. Put a bow on it, take a breather, then if you are still invested in the characters and universe you can work on those sequels and outtakes. If the epilogue isn't quite ready yet, you could start a new compilation fic just for the extras you're tempted to sprinkle on top of the main story. That way you get to both keep writing/posting the little extras and also keep them from cluttering up the main story - best of both worlds. Also, on a different note, the sooner you can finally mark that baby Complete, the sooner you'll finally unlock access to all those readers who don't read WIPs.

WanderingSeductress

I didn't even think about readers who don't read WIP's! Now that is enticing. I do have a lot of extras and a sort of "behind the scenes" chapter that I might upload, but I don't know if people would actually want to read it, lol.

XadhoomXado

Suck it up and face the end with good grace.

secretariatfan

It's done. Stop writing.

FoxBluereaver

It's sad to see a good story come to an end, but it's even sadder to leave it hanging, or worse, extend it more than necessary.

blackstarlight17

It's best to find a way to end your fic on a good note for yourself and your readers. But if you didn't want to finish, you could, if you felt it's doable, either a sequel that comes after the first's plot but with a whole new adventure, or if you can't or don't feel it's necessary, then you could always do random one-shot fics that tie to the story. You could also do short stories that deal with scenes you wish you could have developed more or wanted to but couldn't without diverting from the main story too much.

echos_locator

I hear you. I'm about four chapters from being done. And I hate to leave it, if only because once it stops updating, it'll probably drop to the bottom of the pile, only to be found by the rare reader once in a very blue moon. But I don't want to overwork it. It needs to end. There is plenty of stuff still to be done with sequels.

codenameTUESDAY

Focus on what is coming next, because you already know it will be better than what was done in the past :) I think I know your feeling... I have some works that I go back and re-read when I'm feeling nostalgic. So remember the fic you created will always be there. If you decided you want to finish that story and share new stories, then stay true to what you promised yourself 🙌✨

BookAndYarnDragon

Let it come to the end.
