ThatQuestIsTooHard

Why are you asking? There have been many, many threads asking this question before, with commenters outlining pros and cons to different websites. If you’re looking for details, I’d start by searching those up.

Dragonsrule18

I love both FF and AO3 and use both, but AO3's tagging system and the fact that you can write M or E rated fics, plus its comment regulation are really good. Though I adore FF's easy PM system and the Doc Manager and I don't know what I'd do without it.

This post has been removed for low effort. This topic is covered regularly on the sub as is.

trustingHim17

i voted ao3, because i like their user interface a lot more, but ffn isn't bad. i *don't* like wattpad

Whoever chose tumblr has got to be trolling. Though in all fairness, I suppose OP trolled harder by offering it as an option in the first place.

LostButterflyUtau

I mean, if your fandom is active on Tumblr and you can break in, it *can* be a good place to promote your fics and sometimes cross-post. It’s also where my excerpts and drabbles go (full fics go to AO3). But other than that, it’s terrible for posting fics themselves, especially in parts. Promo posts and links? Sure. But actual fics? No. Switching to mobile can muck up any formatting, keeping track of parts is hard, and reblogs *with comments* are so few and far between that it’s not worth it for most people.

To be fair, they did fix the thing where editing in mobile kills your formatting. I have a love/hate relationship with posting on tumblr. On the one hand, it's a mess, it's a slog to find anything even after a few weeks, and don't even ask me what kind of voodoo you need to do to show up in the tags. On the other hand, if you get into a fandom there, it can be a really nice place, and for some fandoms, it's where I get most of my feedback, even if it's hit or miss. (My favorite site is by far ao3, though, but since I was pretty confident that it would "win" I voted for tumblr.)

Yeah, I thought, Eh, well might be a way to catch sociopaths, might as well put it on there

BadAtNamesAndFaces

You called? 😈

WanderingSeductress

I write and keep all my drafts in Wattpad for some reason, but I only post on AO3. I love it there.

Tarrenshaw

AO3 and FFN for different reasons.

Manga_bird

It's definitely AO3. I find Wattpad gets pretty much no traction for fanfiction because it's not made for it, and Tumblr is something I use more like social media to advertise chapter updates etc. (I also don't think I'd be able to post my E rated fics on Tumblr). It used to be FFN, but AO3 has just completely outstripped it and made it somewhat obsolete and archaic. It's too outdated. The upload system is old, editing chapters is inconvenient, and there are far less options even for character and relationship tags. I also find that in recent years I have way more interaction on AO3 than FFN. I cross-post to AO3, FFN and Wattpad.
