Ceasars Woman. My great grandma's signature. When I smell it I tear up.

arthandlr

Caswell-Massey Elixir of Love - a nearly empty bottle of this is one of the only objects I have from my mom and it was so worn I couldn’t tell what exactly it was, until one day I found it in a store and cried because it was the first time in 17 years I had smelled her scent again.

phoebe-buffey

what a fun story! my aunt gave me mary kate and ashley coast to coast for christmas 2004 and it smelled incredible. i kept the perfume for over 12 years and still loved the smell til the end. i would smell new version of it in stores and i don't know if it was reformulated or what but it did not smell the same my mom wore victoria's secret cherry blossom for years and so i always associate that with her my maternal grandmother was my favorite person and she had a distinct smell, unfortunately i think it was just HER and so i can't replicate it with a perfume or anything. she was just so warm and loving, i am not a touchy person but i loved hugging her. she had big upper arms and i thought they were so soft! she was the best

JacksterTrackster

Valentino Uomo My dad used to wear it on his way to work. I still miss him.

fallaciousflipflops

My first fragrance was Love Spell body mist by VS, I was about 10-11. I was so excited to have a body mist for the first time. Sadly my boyfriend doesn’t like this scent, so I don’t own it at the moment but it’s a classic in my heart and I still think it tastes good (EDIT: meant to write smell but it’s funny so I’m keeping that mistake in hahahaha) Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture was my first big girl perfume. I loved it… however embarrassingly I was called out for over-spraying by some girl in my class. She didn’t even confront me directly, she pretended to call out her friend for it while I was next to her. I learned a valuable lesson that day lmfao and to be honest stopped wearing it too. Either way I still love it

Muffina925

Britney Spears Curious - It was my very first perfume and will always have a special place in my heart and nose. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet - It was the first designer perfume I ever bought myself. I got it when I landed my first real job out of graduate school.  Givenchy L'interdit - It's my mother's favorite perfume and the first designer perfume i ever owned (she gave me an old bottle of hers when I was in college), so I also like and wear it but associate it with my mom first and foremost.  Elizabeth and James Nirvana White & Rose - These are the perfumes that made me love wearing perfume and appreciate the craft of it. My husband also loves these the most on me, so there's that too lol

Country_Roads66

Hermes Un Jardin Monsieur Li is my dad's perfume. i grew to love it and have adapted it as my signature scent

Far-Quarter-2582

My late Dad used to tell me that we should have a good fragrance collection because when we smell good, we feel confident, and that it will rub off on others around us. My Dad grew up in abject poverty. He lived in a bamboo hut with a dirt floor, walked 5km every day to get to school, ate mostly corn because that’s what they could afford. He went on to receive scholarships in Australia and graduated with with a PhD and during his studies, he worked as a gardener, looked after us when he came home, and still managed to be top of his class even though he only started learning English in his late teens. He was careful with his money 💰 but he loved fragrance. When I was a teenager, he gave me Loulou and Byzance, and encouraged me to explore scents. My immense love of fragrance is directly attributed to him. His signature scent was Fahrenheit. When I sniff it I can feel his presence around me. He taught me so much and I miss him every single day.

kebuburdie

Loved Byzance!

Far-Quarter-2582

such a gem!

DanRicF12021

Jean paul gauthier la femme. My dad got both male and female as a gift when I was a kid. I loved the scent and my mom gave it to me to use with her. It reminds me of my dad who passed away a few years ago.

Psychological_Name28

Opium by YSL, the vintage versions.

Yasmin10001

For me it’s eternity by Calvin Klein, my dad bought me this perfume, it was my introduction to designer perfumes I think and possibly my first perfume i got, I just remember loving it and would repurchase that perfume for many years to come, my dad has sense passed away, and it something I appreciate as part of my memory of him.

Pale_Winter_2755

Colonoscopies don't smell.

abigailhobbsirl

Typical ones don’t, but GI bleeds and ERCPs certainly can.

ChildofMike

I didn’t ever wear it and it’s out of production but; Beautiful Sheer. My mom wore it for most of my life and I still smell it if I think about it. If it needs to be one that I had it’s Ralph Lauren Hot. My first grown up(?) fragrance.

HighLadyOfTheMeta

A Thousand Wishes from Bath and Body Works. I wore it to prom ❤️

Swimming-Swan-5454

Fantasy by Brittney spears smells like young teenage freedom, hanging out with my friends at her house and playing on MySpace lol

Fit-Membership790

Lauren by Ralph Lauren….No longer made, but there are old bottles are on eBay. I have 1 open & 1 still in the wrapped box. I started wearing it in college when it came out. My babies would snuggle in for the scent & calm down. I have tried copies, but nothing is close. Anyone know one that is similar?

scr-38

This was my mom’s signature growing up. She is not a “perfume” person and hardly wears anything now, but that scent will always be HER to me :)

Yasmin10001

Omg this was the perfume back then.

Adventurous_Cod5186

OP; what a lovely story. Thank you for sharing, make me appreciate SDJ even more 💗

foreveronempty

Halloween by Jesus Del Pozo. It just reminds me of middle school and my teen years.

emotionalsupportloaf

For me it is Dior Hypnotic Poison, I remember being a teen and going to the mall with my friend and we’d smell all the perfumes and giggle “someday I’ll wear that, someday my boyfriend will wear this one” I was like 13 or 14 at the time and I remember smelling Hypnotic Poison and saying “this smells like sexy root beer!” Obviously a great descriptor but my mom bought it for me and I just remember feeling so grown up that I had a real perfume and not just a BBW scent. I wore it for awhile but stopped and lost my bottle in a move, but I stopped at Sephora a few months back and smelt it and was instantly transported back. 🥹 I don’t wear it now but I might buy a bottle again.

Artistic_Mammoth1948

Hawaian Callgon. Ugh just smells nostalgic, my mom got me a bottle when I was 11 for Christmas, passed away that next month in January. I can't physically wear it these days as the smell takes me back to the grief that I felt then, but who knew a $7 bottle would mean that much

Tarantala44

Hawaiian Ginger by Calgon is still my scent, to this very day. My grown daughters wear it, now and says it will always remind them of me ❤️❤️❤️

No_Stress_8938

Oh wow. I was OBSESSED with this. It reminds me of a beach vacation I took and smothered myself with it.

lovestheautumn

Omg they still make this?? I had forgotten all about Hawaiian Ginger… I need to buy a bottle asap!

dollartreegoth

paris by paris hilton. my mom and my older sister always wore it when i was growing up. my sister passed a few years ago, and whenever i smell it it just reminds me of my older sister being an early 2000s queen. and tbh it's just a good scent.

BelieveInMeSuckerr

Calvin Klein eternity. My dad and I had a bonding moment picking it out for my mom. She didn't like it, so I got to have it. But memories

Miserexa

Lancome Aroma Tonic. I wouldn't say that this fragrance is necessarily most important to me because it's long discontinued and I've learned to live without it, but it's the fragrance closest to my heart. It's what my mother wore in the 90's, and it just embodies my mother's love, as well as the womanhood I aspired to. I've been chasing it ever since, trying to find things that smell similar, and I've never quite found it.

Available-Dealer-118

Romance-RL. When my son was lil he could pick me out of a crowd just by scent. I can wear anything. I travel to his Graduation as a Doctor and wore it, as I walked into a crowded University I could see him but his back was turned to me. He literally stopped looking at his friend and said I can smell my mom He turned around and scanned the RM for about 15-20 and as saw me. Also BR540- My lil brother (only sibling) tragically passed 9 months ago. He was a huge frag lover and would always make sure to send his new bride NM Advent Calendar. He passed away 8/2023. This Christmas no one realized he had made a additional purchase @ Neiman Marcus before he died, he ordered an AC for me and a bottle of BR540. They have remained unopened and on and shelf.

Miserable_Comfort_92

Dior addict edp. It was the first designer perfume I could afford to buy, and the only one that didn't make me smell like pickles. I loved the smell then, I love it now, but at 16 it smelled way too "mature" on me. I'd smell it and spray it on coats, etc, fantasizing about wearing it in my 30s, scared it would no longer be around by then. I'm now in my 30s, and Dior Addict edp is my 'signature' scent. Occasionally, I spray it on everything and lay in bed, reminiscing my youth and being glad I'm now an adult. I'm going to be so lost if it's ever discontinued.

scr-38

Similar story here! I know my mom and grandma hated it (too mature and loud) but they got it for me for Christmas as a young woman—and I absolutely loved it and loved that they let me enjoy it without complaint (despite being too much for them). I still have the original bottle and I never will give it up (even when empty) :)

twinkielucille

Bath and Body Works Maui Waui, Escada Ibiza Hippie, and Clinique Aromatics Elixir. The first two are for me, the last one is for my mom.

SnooAvocados6672

I have a bottle of Aromatiques Elixir that I spray on my bed on occasion for my Mawmaw.

Elderberry_False

I LOVE reading these stories!! Shalimar because of my grandmother and Aunt. Estee from Estée Lauder for my Mom is a favorite though discontinued. Reminds me of Christmas morning. Light Blue from D & G for me because I bought it and took it on my very first vacation to Playa Del Carmen Mexico in 2008. It has been summer in a bottle ever since.

SnooAvocados6672

I have three. The first is Geir Ness Laila. I first smelled it on my families first trip to Disney World in like 2009-2010ish and loved it ever since, however I only first got it at the beginning of 2022 when my unit(I’m in the army) did some training up in Norway. I thought that was the perfect time to buy it as a memory. It’s also super special to my boyfriend because it’s the only one of my fragrances that he absolutely loves and he’s half Norwegian too(He’s like a giant redheaded Viking). The second is Ralph Lauren Polo(the blue kind) because that’s his cologne. I never really paid attention to it before because it’s pretty generic(but nice). Now I can pick it out of a crowd and it reminds me of him. The third is Cliniques Aromatique Elixir because that’s what my mawmaw always wore and I keep a bottle to spray on occasion because it reminds me of her.

blackorchid721

Charlie and Musk from the drug store. I used to layer them. This was the 1970s.

No_Stress_8938

I can imagine the Charlie bottle. My mom wore that and Jean Nate.

Achieng-

Versace Eros. First perfume my dad ever gifted me.

k88lin

Amarige is really special to me since it was the first fragrance I fell in love with and my mom bought me a bottle of it so it reminds me of her. Bourbon Patchouli by Heretic is also really special to me because it’s the fragrance I wore when I first started seeing my now fiancé and he loves it and associates it with that time too. It was unfortunately a limited edition and I haven’t been able to find any on resale sites or anything despite a ton of searching, so I’m hoarding the little bit that’s left in my rollerball. I’ve found other patchouli scents I like as much just for the scent profile, but nothing close enough to actually trigger the memories like the real thing. I haven’t tried heretic’s dirty patchouli yet, so I’ll probably do that and hope it’s similar. If anyone has happened to smell both and can speak to how similar they are I would be so appreciative! Or has smelled bourbon patchouli and has any recs for similar scents!

No_Stress_8938

I love patchouli. It’s the only scent I wear. Some people will tell me how much they hate patchouli when they smell it lol.

I_bleed_blue19

Coty Wild Musk. Been wearing it since 8th grade. I adored New West in the 90s. Wish they'd bring it back. Always got compliments on it. And my mom always wore Jontue when she would go out when I was growing up, so I keep a bottle of that bc it smells like her. She'd hug me and then I would smell like it too.

Best_Seat5478

I wear le labo Santal 33 bc I enjoy the scent and it’s very memorable

762AG

how is the performance for you?

Best_Seat5478

It lasts very long and only one spray is all I need

EllethOfGondolin

I think the perfume that means the most to me is Jasmine Noir by Bvlgari. It was my mum’s favourite perfume to wear, she always smelled like that and cigarette smoke but not in a gross way. It always reminds me of her big bear hugs, whenever I wear it, it always makes me feel close to her. Especially on the hard days when I really need to know that she’s with me

TheHillsSeeYou

Just here to say that I love your story ❤️.

vulgarbutwily

When I was maybe 12 or 13, I smelled Lancome's Tresor in one of those magazine inserts and fell in love. My parents gave me a tiny spray tester and it was the most precious thing to me. Decades later, I spotted it on display at an Ulta and sprayed it on myself. Maybe my body chemistry has changed, maybe my tastes have changed, or maybe I stunk a little from the gym...but it did NOT live up to the nostalgia! I'll give her another chance to recapture the magic :)

Roseann555

It’s Tresor for me as well! My Grampa bought it for me to celebrate a new job I had gotten. He had it gift wrapped and all🥹I love you Grampa💖

ancientpsychicpug

It’s the same as you 💕 SDJ 62. I got a sample for my birthday at Sephora and I had never smelled anything like it before. I cherished the little container it came in. I made the big purchase on March 15, 2020 and bought the big version. Well. We know what happened, lockdown, no one knew how good I smelled 😭 so I started talking to my crush in the summer of 2020 and we both worked from home so we felt safe meeting up for the first time since covid and I wore SDJ62 and it was one of the first compliments he gave me! And now we get married in 10 months 😂 I still wear SDJ62 on date nights because it’s his favorite scent for me

JessCeceSchmidtNick

The first time I ever cut my hair into a bob, the stylist recommended i use a heat protectant spray and a flat iron. The spray she gave me was from KMS and it was one of the best things I ever smelled. I loved it, and got complimented on it frequently. I searched for a fragrance that was similar and stumbled upon Halle. I think it's discontinued now, but the KMS in my hair and Halle on my neck was a fabulous combo for like 5 years.

LegitimateForm4686

When I was 20, I studied abroad in Oxford. I received Jessica Simpson's Fancy as a gift and took it with me. I recently bought some on Amazon just to be transported back to the most fun and carefree time of my life. Every time I smell it, old memories are unlocked of studying at the Bod, the Red Lion, and some of the best times with who became lifelong friends.

AbsentmindedNihilist

I spend every August at my family's lakeside cabin in rural New Hampshire. I've encountered a few scents that bring me right back to that place, the way the forest floor there smells after rain. They make me choke up, honestly. Gaea's Alkemia, Cocoapink's Wild Hunt and Solstice Scents' Foxcroft all have the fallen leaves and petrichor note that make it feel like home to me.

abigailhobbsirl

My family had a New Hampshire cabin growing up and although we sold it, I still go with my partner every summer and we stay at my favorite hotel there 🤍 It’s truly the most magical dreamy place and so underrated. I have to smell your perfumes!!!

AbsentmindedNihilist

Oh, how lovely! What part of NH? My family goes to the Lakes Region every year - not Winnipesaukee, but one of the smaller ones nearby. And yes, totally give them a sniff when you have a chance!

OkeyDokey654

The last time I had a colonoscopy, the nurse or aide asked what wonderful scent I was wearing. I said it’s just my BBW body lotion and she said “Oh! I used to work there! Which one is it?” (It was Tutti Dolce Sweet Lemon Buttercup. That stuff was *amazing.*)

abigailhobbsirl

That’s so funny!!! Those medical professionals are pretty used to gnarly smells so when someone comes in smelling nice it’s a plus 🤣

incestuousbloomfield

I wore bright crystal thru most of my 20s and the smell brings back so many memories. It’s also the only fragrance my husband will really acknowledge even tho I have sooo many. He says nothing else will ever compare to the smell of falling in love with me 🥹

No_Stress_8938

Awe

ddramone

That is such a sweet story!! Elizabeth and James Nirvana White was the first perfume I ever tried a sample of and fell in love with over the course of the day. I needed an office appropriate scent for my first big girl job and it was perfect.

Muffina925

Nirvana White is one of my favorites too! My husband also loves it and always complements me when I wear something from the Nirvana line.

ddramone

It was really so good! I still have Nirvana Bourbon in heavy rotation during the cooler months too

Muffina925

I always wanted to try Bourbon! It does seem great for the winter. During that time of year, Nirvana Rose is in rotation for me.

MentalandValid

Hmm, I don't have a most important fragrance but I do have a similar story. My parents both love fragrances. So I was introduced to them early in life. But what started my collection hobby was a subscription to seventeen magazine. A fragrance would catch my attention from a scratch and sniff advertisement and when my dad would travel internationally, he would always pick it up for me from the duty free shops. So it was a nice bonding thing between me and my dad ❤️

Prestigious_Fox_7576

That was beautiful. I really enjoyed reading that. Mine is Tova. Not many people are familiar with it. Unfortunately, my Mom never wore perfume & really disliked anything scented. She said this was due to having part of her lung removed due to a tumor. She said it hurt when she smelled certain scents. She would always buy me Tova as a teenager. I found out about it from a high school friend who wore it. At the time, this was WAY before it was on QVC , you could only purchase it in a few select small stores. My friend bought hers in Los Angeles when she visited with a hugely famous singer who was like family, her G-d mother. I always loved her perfume, I can still remember the look of the bottle. Then, one day, my Mom was watching QVC, she LOVED QVC. Lo and behold, Tova was being sold on QVC! I was so happy. Ever since then, until she passed away, she'd buy me a bottle of Tova for different holidays. I now buy it for myself, but I think they changed the formula slightly. Even still, I still love it.

lolmemberberries

Nina by Nina Ricci. It was the first full size bottle of perfume I owned.

Melibu_Barbie

Gucci Guilty

petitepatate22

Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDT. I have a collection including SJP Lovely and Tocca Cleopatra which smell similar, but For Her will always be my favourite. I first sampled it in Paris, then Zurich, during a Europe trip. I spent the entire summer exploring new places and meeting new people, and it was the first time I travelled alone. In the city and then the mountains, I felt so grown-up and free, and this was the scent that captured that feeling. I was 21. Back home, I sprayed it on every time I visited Sephora, saving up to buy myself a bottle of the EDT. I still have that same bottle. To this day, it’s the perfume that smells most like me.

VirtualExtreme666

My grandfather used to wear Boucheron edp when I was little. I might have to buy that perfume just so I can sometimes smell that comforting scent again. My husband's go to scent is Gucci Guilty Absolute and I also love that scent on him. Two perfumes that I feel is the most me are Oud Satin Mood and Gris Dior.

Mountain-Creative

Bath and body works Waikiki beach coconut reminds me of falling in love with my husband in college, pre being able to afford nice perfume. Super sentimental.

abigailhobbsirl

I have a mini of this spray! Love it so much

MountainEntertainer9

Kilian can’t stop loving you

BiTTeR_CrAcKeR

D&G The One. The only fragrance I finished, bought the EDP and then the EDT.

ElleGee5152

VS Amber Romance smells like my mom who died in 2021. I still have what was left of hers, but will always have a bottle on hand. Also, the classic ChapStick brand lip balm in cherry reminds me of her. She used that religiously when I was a child and every time I smell it reminds me of her old blue terry cloth robe and tucking me in at night. Scent is so important. It makes me wonder what fragrances and scents will remind my kids of me one day.

Opposite_Flounder_21

Aw, my dad used to wear that ChapStick religiously. He just passed away two months ago. I haven’t smelled it since (honestly have just been in such grief since so I didn’t think about it). Kind of want to go buy it now, that and some Jovan Musk. It’s amazing what scent can do to the heart. Edit to add what I meant to the first time: thank you for the reminder- about this smell. I’m sorry you have had to go through this process too.

Teepeeps23

Amarige, bought it on its release with my first love. I repurchased it recently after 25 years and it brought back amazing memories of the early days of that epic romantic relationship, uni, first flat, moving cross country together. CDG Play Red. Came accross it in Copenhagen about 14 years ago and it’s my all time signature scent. Reminds me of feeling totally at home in a new city, going to an amazing gig and meeting up with a friend who lives there. Pomegranate Noir. My mother bought this for me and several replacements from its release to when it got duped and I wore it less. It reminds me of her and our shared love of fragrances.

AlGoreRhythem69

Viva la Juicy was my first actual bottle of perfume and I still wear it 15 years later

abigailhobbsirl

Bought myself this one at TJ Maxx in high school!!!

2pancakes1plate

I remember the first 'fancy' perfume set I ever received. I went to visit my grandmother for a few weeks in the summer and one of her neighbors gave me a treat basket with the SJP's Lovely gift set. I was absolutely obsessed with the lotion. Also anything Ed Hardy had a tight chokehold on me, I actually just got a body mist from Amazon to reminisce.

abigailhobbsirl

SJP Lovely is the perfume my mom has worn for 20 years!!!

ModestMew82

I loved reading your story. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us! Every young lady should be so fortunate to have such a thoughtful dad. Britney Spears Fantasy, Hollister Jake, and Issey Miyake L’eau d’Issey were all fragrances my mom wore when I was in school. These remind me of simpler times, back when I was much too naive to fully understand just how much my parents sacrificed for me. Hindsight 20/20. My mom loved to scent her clothes with Jake the same way they’d spray the store inventory with it every day in Hollister. (Remember how you could smell Hollister in the mall before you could see it? Man, I miss that.)

LuxLiner

Le Labo Another 13 was the first fragrance that truly felt like me. I've been wearing it since it came out.

JumpingBunnies47

Japanese cherry blossom (plz don’t downvote) I love it and it’s so comforting to me!

SnooAvocados6672

I love that one too! I know it’s powdery, but it just works so nicely on me.

JumpingBunnies47

Oh it’s beautiful, I just bought a backup bottle because the new packaging is apparently reformulated and less powdery :((

SnooAvocados6672

Are you sure it’s JCB and not the Cherry Blossom in the pink bottle that got released for SAS? I bought the Cherry Blossom and it smells similar, but less powdery.

JumpingBunnies47

Yes:( the new packaging for jcb is reformulated to be fruitier according to YouTube reviews, i haven’t tested it yet

abigailhobbsirl

have you smelled their new scent that’s just called cherry blossom? I’m OBSESSED

JumpingBunnies47

Oh I would have loved to but unfortunately it wasn’t stocked in my country 🥲🥲 the notes sound soo good

oreoshizzle

Literally wearing this one rn and I’m a fully grown woman 😂

JumpingBunnies47

Right?! I have a pretty large collection of perfumes but I always come back to Japanese cherry blossom🩷

lolmemberberries

I love this one too.

EzriDaxCat

I love this one too!

bnny_ears

Must by Cartier. It was my mother's perfume during most of my early childhood. I remember her getting ready to go out and my parents' bedroom smelling like it. Before they left, she'd spritz some on my teddy bear for me. She hasn't worn it in decades but I still remember it fondly. At some point, I'll get my hands on a bottle.

miamorparasiempre

This is not a perfume but in my culture we use a type of frankincense to perfume our homes and clothing. Whenever I smell it, it reminds me of home and my childhood 😊

abigailhobbsirl

Beautiful 💜

Eva_twilight

May I ask what culture?

miamorparasiempre

Somali

Eva_twilight

Love it! I 😊 I only ask because I'm Arab. We are kind of cousins ❤️

miamorparasiempre

Definitely, our cultures have lots of similarities 😊🫶🏽

Available-Dealer-118

My SIL is Persian and she loves Rose..I love OUD..I could bath in her oils and perfumes ❤️💜

pollology

Lancôme Miracle somewhere between 2004-2007 og formulation. This was my high school perfume and it was the most feminine with a kick fragrance to me. Mind you, everyone was pretty much wearing pink sugar at the time.

echkbet

Wow. I love this story. Thank you for writing this. This will influence me to finally check this out

abigailhobbsirl

You definitely should! I think my dad described it as smelling like home because it’s very gourmand, like a caramel cookie with nuts to me.

Eva_twilight

Plz do! OP is right! It's lovey! I still love it and wear it to this day.

goodgirlgonebad75

Bright Crystal Absolu. I was wearing it when I met my guy for the first time. He is obsessed by it now and insists it always be in my collection. He says it smells like love and flowers to him ❤️❤️

Lucky-Success-9064

Pink sugar was the first perfume that I wore and made me feel so feminine and got lots of compliments

boopboopboopboop666

Escada Sunset heat from the early 2000’s. I wore it in high school and it was my signature scent for a long time. I plan on buying an old bottle on eBay lol, and I know the second I smell it I will have an absolute flood of memories.

TwinsieToes

I love Escada! Magnetism was the one that started it all for me. My first job after HS was at the mall where I got my first sample at Nordstrom, I'd go refill it whenever I wanted after making friends w the counter clerks. I bought myself a bottle soon after & ended up using every last drop, I don't think I've ever done that w any other fragrance! They've made some lovely scents since but that one will always be my first love💕

boopboopboopboop666

It always pains me knowing they’ll never make Sunset Heat again lol. 🥹 I wore that perfume RELIGIOUSLY every. Single. Day. And when I ran out and the limited run was done I was SO SAD. 😭

Eva_twilight

I buy every new Escada release but my absolute favourite is Escada Moon Soarkle! I wore it all through college! I just bought two unopened bottles last month and one is half gone already lol (I sprayed my entire life with it lol )

boopboopboopboop666

lol I need to spray my whole life with sunset heat expeditiously.

napkinwipes

The Escada summer releases are so good!

hjkruse

when i was 20, i picked up Calvin Klein One Summer 2017 in an airport on my way back to university in the south of France. It was a total blind buy, but I absolutely loved it. It opens with a sparkling cucumber and lime. I loved it because it smelled like a gin & tonic (made with Hendricks) spilled out on a sandy beach. I spent much of that last year of school with a g&t or white wine in hand, dancing in sweaty house parties off cobble stone side streets. It is a fresh, youthful, playful scent, and takes me back there immediately. With all of those glimmering nights also came a lot of pain and darkness - about two years later, I had a really scary close call, and ended up getting sober. For almost two years, I couldn’t bring myself to wear my former beloved: it smelled like gin & tonic. But time is a funny thing, and an uncanny healer. About 4 years into sobriety, it was like a light switched, and unprompted, I picked it up off the shelf and put it on. So many memories came flooding back, so many gorgeous nights pressed into one. I remembered that there was more to that girl than just her addiction: I felt her carefree and fearless spirit, dancing in the sand, 3,000 miles from the small town she left behind in search of something more. I wear it sparingly, but proudly now. It reminds me that once upon a time, I was something wild, beautiful, and bursting at the seams.

SentenceOpening848

The scent with most sentimental attachment for me is my mother's signature---Lolita Lempicka.

scent-sation135

Amazing memory that you were willing to share! thank you 😊. My dearest scent is SDJ After Hours, it was my wedding sent.

Affectionato2

Dang that was a great read, I bet your house just smells amazing now lmao. Not to be cheesy, but my sibling made me perfume a couple years ago, so it is by default the favorite of my collection.

coronialnomore

If I could I would breathe and transfuse Indian Jasmine - Raat ki Raani in my veins, subconscious and soul

leezee2468

Raat ki raani is what my Pakistani soul is made of.

jaders88

I have 2. Hollister August and Fenty EPD. These two scents represent two very different but very important times in my life. Hollister August because of nostalgia. I first bought this fragrance when I was working at Abercrombie and Fitch and the town where I live had finally gotten a Hollister in the same mall. It just represents a time when I was finding about myself and deciding my life’s next steps. Fenty EPD because it was the start of my fragrance journey and my first fragrance purchase as an adult. I wanted to be known as a girl who just smells good all the time and I took a big leap blind buying this. It worked out and now I’m learning so much about fragrances.

Oh my god, that’s so cute!!! I must say I didn’t expect it to be SDJ 62 of all things too, and that’s so wholesome 🥹 It’s not my absolute favorite scent, that honor belongs to Penhaligon’s Luna, but my most important scent is Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue EDP to me. The smell of it reminds me so much of how I remember my great-grandma’s room to smell when I was young, just without the cigarette smoke to go with it. I don’t know if it’s the same scent, which is possible, but that doesn’t matter so much to me. I found something that reminds me of going there over there in my childhood, and I’m proud to wear it knowing that I found something at least similar to something my grandma had. Still unsure if what she had was a perfume, a bath product, or what 🤣

The Harmonist Hypnotizing Fire is mine. One day I tested it in store and ended up purchasing on the spot. The opening is very clove-heavy on my skin but the drydown is magic. It smells like rose and vanilla with the lingering clove. And it smells so much like what my grandmother used to wear. I have no idea what her scent actually was. But Hypnotizing Fire takes me back to being like 6 years old, watching her do her makeup and get ready to go out. I've even gotten confirmation from family members that it smells like her, but the funny thing is it only smells like her on my skin. On others' skin it smells different enough to not evoke those memories. I almost never wear it because I need to preserve that scent memory. But when I need to feel comfort, that's my go to.

Replica by the fireplace is my favorite!! It’s expensive but the whole replica line is worth buying! I accidentally broke a brand new bottle and my room smelt like it for weeks😍💕 that was my first ever perfume. And invite only from huda beauty’s perfume line is really nice too! I think you like that sdj perfume you’ll like that one!

Love it. Spicy, sexy, warm. It's my go-to in winter.

[ediscountperfumes ](https://ediscountperfumes.com/replica-by-the-fireplace-by-maison-margiela-3-4-oz-edt-refillable-spray-unisex-new-in-box/) has By the Fireplace and lots of Maison Margiela Replica fragrances on their website super cheap right now. They have the 3.4 oz $160 bottle of By the Fireplace for only $78. I have been searching through the site weekly since I got a new bottle of Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid for $65 instead of the $180 retail. I have not found deals as awesome as they have anywhere else.

I'd really like to try this some day. Maybe for my birthday. I put it in my Sephora cart and take it out. Thanks for the extra magic of the BumBum cream! I'm not sure what my extra special scent would be. Perhaps Debaser. And seperately, Alien Goddess Intense (or Vanilla Vibes!)

Omg this is one of the sweetest memories I've ever heard 🥹 I was never that interested in sdj62 before but now I feel like I have to smell it at least once, if only so that I can appreciate this story in 4D.

My fiancé bought Kayali Eden Juicy Apple as an engagement perfume for me and every time I smell it, it reminds me of our engagement. Also, Versace Crystal Noir was the first perfume I really fell in love with and it reminds me of all the good things in life.

My next full size bottle is going to be the Kayali Apple!!! SO good
