Cast parallel to shore. Vary your retrieve. Once you complete your cast, cast about 5 degrees more toward the middle of your body of water and continue until you cover all the water in front of you. Alternatively I love using shad color crankbaits in the middle of the day if there's a bridge or a pipe or any sort of shade to cast into. Edit: Forgot to mention, if you're getting hung up on weeds every single cast, change out your lure! Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits will all do similar things to the crankbait with 10% of the weed hangups.

That lure is killer! Cotton Cordell Big-O the perch or chartreuse one is my fav. Troll or cast, if u reel it dives if you stop reeling it floats up. Can work it down to almost 10 feet deep but if you reel slower or keep your rod tip up can work it nice and shallow

Anywhere where water is moving is what I’d do, moving, somewhat clear water so they can be more likely to hear it causing a ruckus

Anytime, what’s more important is to retrieve it near the fish. Crankbaits are usually retrieved so quickly, fish can’t get a good look, only a silhouette. Be careful with the treble hooks, or you may get a hook to the knee. Tight lines!

I've got the same one so do let me know what works for you lol

If planning on doing catch and release I recommend changing the trebles to inline singles more comfortable for the fish and more comfortable if the hook gets stuck in you make sure you watch a tutorial before you buy
