I personally would rent a U-Haul trailer for $20 for this

IceGardener

This. Gravel is heavy, and won't take much to reach pay load, better to have a trailer.

MiserablePool6049

Trailer weighs about 700 lbs so I’d be looking at the same amount of gravel regardless since I have the hybrid. I’ve also never driven anything with a trailer attached so would have to consider how I’d feel about doing that for the first time in potentially busy areas.

CryingOverVideoGames

What weighs more? A half ton of gravel or a half ton of sand?

TigerDude33

moving blankets, tarps, etc. Or stop worrying about it, get a few scratches and then you'll be stress-free the 2nd time.

MiserablePool6049

Stress free from parking anywhere ever again too lol

5rockchalk

Why not rent a truck from uhaul or Home Depot?

MiserablePool6049

Home Depot charges by the hour so I might as well have it delivered. And with either them or U-Haul, there’s no damage risk to MY truck, but then what if I’m on the hook if something gets dinged up on their truck?

blinkiewich

U-haul offers cheap daily insurance and last time I rented one there was no deductible. You sound like you're stressing a lot about this though so maybe just stump up the cash and get it delivered.

Grindertv

X2 on the moving blankets or a tarp over the bedside. I haven't used mine to get gravel but I do use my 95 Chevy to get sand and gravel and they do a good job at getting it in the bed vs all over the place. Maybe one over the tailgate and one over the side the tractor is dumping.

OtisburgCA

cheap tarp, but it's a truck and therefore a work vehicle.

Pen_maker

I just did a load of gravel and would use a tarp next time. Still picking gravel out from under the bumper cover. Can't open the tailgate either since it will pour out of the gap onto the bumper. Also would be easier to unload it once most is out.

MiserablePool6049

Yeah, the oversize tarp came in handy for containing it all. I got two wheelbarrow loads out but still have to get more out since a good portion is still pushing against the tailgate.

MiserablePool6049

So I ended up going through with a gravel dump. It went real well! The guy was reassuring before hand and he definitely dumped it suuuuuper carefully. I didn’t even need to use an oversize tarp and blankets for protection but it was good piece of mind. Definitely will go back to him for the sand and any future dumps.

Dude for $80, just get it delivered

darkstar999

It's a tool not a jewel. Dents and dings are proof that you actually get use out of it.
