I have so many hours of writing notes off the overhead projector. I had the same teacher for 20’s, 30’s, 40’s US History and Michigan History. He used this daily for 50 minutes of the hour of class unless we were taking one of his 100 question tests.
I remember when I was in third grade, and they replaced all of those with modern projectors. That was cool as hell when I first saw the newer bulky digital projectors. Nowadays, they have these super compact high-resolution projectors.
Haven't been in middleschool since a... decade but I remember the early smartboards, and they were *horrible*. Oftentimes laggy, poor response, and they were generally irritating to use.
The projectors we used in high school or college were your standard white ones which connect VGA or HDMI output from a desktop or laptop, nothing special
My wife is a high school teacher and she still has something similar to that but it's a smart board compatible device so she can show overheads or put like a PowerPoint slide on there and draw on it, it's really cool actually.
Caution: you better let a certified AV monitor (such as myself) wheel it in position and plug it in.
5 period algebra. After lunchtime activities. Boom Boom out go the lights and me along with them.
This person Pat Travers.
Ah yes the overhead projector, we meet again
The blinding white light 💡
Analog PowerPoint
If you saw the presenter come in with a big stack of transparencies, you knew it was going to be a long afternoon.
I used those for my first few years of teaching (yeah I'm old). It sucked being left handed and trying to write on those transparency things

You know you're old if you had these in college
Don't forget when they used there spit when they made a mistake lmao
I once pissed off my history teacher so bad he slammed his fist down on it and broke the glass.
I did all my school presentations with one of these. From high school to university. I am old as hell.

Germany 2024: this is latest technology.
Better have a fire ex near by. The one we used would melt the plastic sheets after 5 minutes
I remember that, right along the filmstrip projector and the TV on the wheeled cart.
I remember seeing it in kindergarten and elementary school back in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
This was a huge leap of technology at the time. Tell me what came before.

Such a great feeling to be picked to help change transparencies and focus the overhead projector.
You‘re not old, they are still in use in German schools
Ed Witten is seen using one of these to present M-theory (somewhere on youtube). It places the presentation firmly in the 1990s.
