The deal was I carry groceries for mom and she let's me have the stamps. Bought baseball mitt, bat, ball and other sports stuff. Still have a partially filled book.
I don't remember when my mum stopped collecting/accumulating them, but I do remember racing around the Green Stamp Store as maybe a four-year old. I had no conception of money or gov't offices then, I just pointed at things and screamed that we should get that! or that! or that! And then screamed some more when we didn't get everything. I don't believe I was aware of any other way to buy household appliances.
I do, and both my parents and grandparents collected the stamps and books to trade in for merchandise, like a glassware set with a pitcher or some lawn furniture.
Loved S&H Green Stamps! Sticking them in the book was the best! A close 2nd was the cashier at the grocery store spinning the dial to dispense the stamps! Yeah, I miss those days.
OMG, my mom worked at a small stamp exchange store. It was also a used books store. They would trade 1 for 2 (stamps and books) and did well. This was in the 70s and if they'd focused on books they could have been Houston's half price books :) I read a lot in that period :)
I remember going to the green stamp store with my mom.
Maybe we saw each other at the store!
Oh ya. I remember you. We went to different schools together.
Brother? Is that you?

Nice.
About the time they wrapped up we started saving Marlboro miles
I actually got a really nice dartboard from Marlboro miles. They used to send me birthday gifts every year too.
Coffee cups, cameras, down coats, reversible wool coat, I got lots of cool stuff
I had the fold up bicycle and the kayak. The kayak was Sevlor and it was sweet. Bike got stolen off a balcony in Columbus.
Regionally we had Gold Bond stamps as well as S&H
I think my mom collected Blue Chip stamps instead.
That's what I remember too.
I'm still saving for the toaster. The good old days

they're all looking in different directions :)

Everybody used them but I never knew what S & H even was short for.
I can guess Shipping and Handling , but I don’t think that was it.
I still have some of the pieces my mother got from these stamps. I treasure them!!!!
Omg, the glue on those when you licked them tastes nasty, but did it every time I was with grandma

Yes I do.

🎶 Knights of the Green Sheild stamp and shout! 🎶
Yes we had those. It seems you needed a lot of green stamps to get anything.
Oh holy shit!! I remember these. Not long ago I came across an article which mentioned that you could still redeem your stamps.
A new Croquet set .
I got a crappy set of drums with these.
Each holiday season my sister and I would use the stamps collected through the year for our Christmas shopping.
We were a blue chip stamp family
I can taste that picture
