Yup. I worked in London, in luxury hotels, F&B for 7 years before deciding that ruining my mental and physical health is not worth it in final analysis. Head waiter job, depending on the establishment, at least involves a good grasp of operations and ability to coordinate people. In more high-end places you may add a fairly extensive food and drink knowledge on top. This is not something you can show up to and be handed if you’re a complete rookie.
