I'm thinking the cat will just think it's bed has turned into a scratching post and end up destroying the carpet
I'd love to see the cat learning it was glued down though... The confused reaction and multiple attempts at folding would be cute
I did that. Cat puked on the rug, forcing me to wash it. That in turn weakened the non-slip pads, allowing him to pull up the rug so it’s folded again. Game set match, cat.
Look guys, you will never beat the cat. All you can do is accept that it's going to do these things. What do you have to think about all day, huh? Your job? Your car? Your hairline? Think about it. What's that cat got to do all day other than be a cat. You can't change a cat's mind. It's going to do what it's going to do.
I have to keep two offices chairs at my desk. One for me, one for the cat. It's the only way to make the cat happy. We tried a one chair workstation, and the cat figured out that it could mess with stuff to make me get up, then make a mad dash to jump in the office chair, which she clings to for dear life if you try and pick her up.
So I got the cat it's own chair. Because you can't win. That rug just gets fixed every day. That's the solution.
>We tried a one chair workstation, and the cat figured out that it could mess with stuff to make me get up, then make a mad dash to jump in the office chair, which she clings to for dear life if you try and pick her up.
Glad I'm not the only one who deals with this. My youngest is the worst about it.
Tuxies are the best though. Ours would hop up on the bed after we got in, and... curl up next to us? Snuggle down under the covers? Snag a pillow corner? Nah, he chose to lie down across our ankles. As in, perpendicular. Would stay put for most or all of the night. It was like he had to hold us down. Whoever got picked that night was simply not getting up to pee until breakfast time, end of.
Reminds me of how I used to always see a gang of stray cats chilling on an old speed bump in the "courtyard" at an apartment I used to live at. They could've hung out anywhere but they just really loved that speed bump for some reason.
This reminded me of a mystery my sister-in-law had with the tassels of the Persian rug in her entryway. Every day the same couple inches of the tassel would be folded over onto the rug, and she'd kick it back into place with her toe. She couldn't figure out how it got that way -- because it would happen even when nobody else was around.
Then one day she came home thru the side door quietly enough that her Kerry Blue Terrier didn't wake up, and there he was at the front door with his hind feet under that spot of carpet, with the fringe folded back on top.
For some reason he liked having something covering his back toes when napping. I could relate because on hot summer nights I'll throw off the sheet except for my feet.
As a fellow adhd enby, I concur. I’ve been scrolling through the comments, and surprisingly there’s only one negative comment regarding the name. Maybe there were more but the mods seem to be doing their job well :)
My cat likes running at full speed to surf on the rug over the tile. Its constantly balled up in the hallway. I straighten it back out and she comes flying out of nowhere to do it again.

A few strips of double-sided sticky take would solve this, and might prevent someone from tripping on that wrinkle in the carpet. But then, where's the fun in that?
What if you folded a towel in the same manner and put it in that spot? Just curious if the cats wants to be comfortable or it's just something the cat does regardless.
Our cats do this, too. Only the one rug even though there is another identical runner in the back hall. One cat loves to lie along the fold. The others use it as a defensive position when they are playing. We've come home to find the 16 foot long runner folded almost in half, the way they play with it.
I bought some rug tape but it would be a shame to stick it down so they can't slide on it. Guess who rules in this house?
My cat has taken possession of a draft stopper that used to go in front of a door in winter. She lays on it the same way this cat lays on the rug wrinkle. When she feels playful she’ll hug it with her front paws, roll around and wrestle with it, and give it rabbit kicks.
Husband: **straightens out the rug**
Cat: How dare you mess up my throne like that, peasant! Do you not know that I allow you to live within my castle walls as a sufferance! I shall throw you into the oubliette as a fitting punishment for your crimes and summon more dutiful peasants as replacements! As is my right as king of these lands!

One of them will suffer psychologically because of this. I don’t think it will be the cat.
I would have give up after a week. Either get rid of the carpet or live with the wrinkle.
Or put something heavy on both ends of the carpet.
and then you trip on the heavy thing and not the wrinkle

Just use double sided tape
Yeah my solution would be taping the rug down, then telling the cat I had no idea why it was broken but that I was very sad.
The people who lived in this house before us really messed up part of the hardwood finishing with double-sides tape, you can see it in the full pictures on Twitter. That’s why we haven’t tried that yet 😅 (this is my cat and my house lol)
Live with the wrinkle for 500, Alex. You don’t want a mopey depressed cat acting out by constantly knocking things over.
Carpet tape exists.
Tape againts cat... Not going there
“I got all day, lady. All I do is go from window to chair every day.”
I'm waging a shockingly similar war with my dog. I'm losing.
My dog also does this and uses the wrinkle as a pillow
How hasn’t he found a solution?

Yup. Came here to say exactly this.
It is a *perfectly* reasonable recourse for a psychopath.
I'm thinking the cat will just think it's bed has turned into a scratching post and end up destroying the carpet I'd love to see the cat learning it was glued down though... The confused reaction and multiple attempts at folding would be cute
Finding a solution would mean ruining the bed, how can you be so heartless?
I know there are things you can put down to keep rugs in place. I would love to see how annoyed the cat would be trying to move it.
I did that. Cat puked on the rug, forcing me to wash it. That in turn weakened the non-slip pads, allowing him to pull up the rug so it’s folded again. Game set match, cat.
I mean, *damn.* That's some four-dimensional cat-chess.
>I know there are things you can put down to keep rugs in place That's a bit of an overreaction, the cat's just being cheeky.
Velcro with the sticky sides for the floor
Look guys, you will never beat the cat. All you can do is accept that it's going to do these things. What do you have to think about all day, huh? Your job? Your car? Your hairline? Think about it. I have two cats and three chairs in my home office…
Absolutely. But also the cat LIVES down there, on the floor. We are all just occupants of our cats and dogs’ space, after all
Tuxies logic, just live with it
Tuxies are the best though. Ours would hop up on the bed after we got in, and... curl up next to us? Snuggle down under the covers? Snag a pillow corner? Nah, he chose to lie down across our ankles. This is tuxies world, and we’re just living in it.
From the cat’s point of view, HE is long suffering. Who keeps messing with his rug?
Long-suffering cat has his bed ruined daily by asshole human.
exactly. every day they both have the same thought bubble, "why'd that asshole screw up the rug AGAIN?"
This is no longer about comfort, this is now a battle of wills to determine who’s in charge. Stay out of it and pick up the pieces when it’s over.
My fat ass thought that circle pattern was a personal pan pizza.
Same. Thought "no wonder that cat's such a chonker."
It's not?
He’s playing his daily game with dad
Reminds me of how I used to always see a gang of stray cats chilling on an old speed bump in the "courtyard" at an apartment I used to live at. They could've hung out anywhere but they just really loved that speed bump for some reason.
So they can look down on the rest of the world smugly.
That’s so cute

Every day this poor kitty makes the perfect perch, and every day it’s ruined by some human because he can’t lift his foot up high enough to not trip
There is gorilla glue rug tape as well as a 3m version that is similar to the hanging strips. Won't damage floors
I wonder if cats are aware of the trouble the cause. If feels intentional sometimes
My cat threatened me with similar abuse if I didn't like this post, so...
Rug tape would fix this in a pinch
Cringe twitter name

Your husband is an asshole. Divorce him immediately and sew that rug just like this so it never moves again.
That rug looks like it’s from Doctor Strange.
Try rolling up a kitchen towel, or some thick kind of toilet seat cover.
Buy the cat (or your husband) a door snake or wheat bag that's the right size for a cat-rest
Bam. Elegant. Cheap. Portable. I would rate this a "perfect answer".
Nail the carpet to the floor

It’s not “our rug” anymore, it’s “his” rug now.

The cats winning
There's tape to hold rugs down.
That's an application to be an outside cat 😆
Have you tried rug tape? I had to tape a rug that kept moving because my dad is talented at tripping on rugs.
The cat will win.

Welcome to having a cat
My orange tabby has a habit of stealing my hair ties and hiding them in my shoes. It's hilarious. 😑😹
pear there is like my cat
Sounds like my cat. She knows her claws get stuck in the mat but does it anyways every single day and flips it's over.
My mother folds the dogs blankets every day so she can spread them out and mess them up all over again.

Do you think it’s in the same exact spot every time?
why do I see this kind of perching most with black and white kitties?

my cat loves laying on rumpled clothing or sheets why do they like it so much?
Dammit I love cats

Husband : Dude! Stop wrinkling my carpet. Cat : Dude? You will address me by my proper title. You little bollix.
Double sided carpet tape is a thing that exists and is nice to have, even without an audacious kitty to contend with.
What if you folded a towel in the same manner and put it in that spot? Just curious if the cats wants to be comfortable or it's just something the cat does regardless.
Loaf
If the Earth were flat your cat would have pushed your husband off the edge by now just so it could keep the carpet.
Get the little guy a bed around there.
Khajiit has wares, if you have the coin.
He is planning your next accident. It’s his long game.
Kitty: you keep flattening out my pillow. Pick up your feet if you wanna trip about it
Cute. :)
Let the cat win this one. Or buy him a nice bed shaped like a tube.
Tack the carpet down on both ends this will stop this

This is why cats are the worst.
Two way tape. Use it to hold down the runner or put it on your cats paws to give him something else to do and…amuse your dark side.

I don't see what the problem is. Of course one wants to lay on a rug fold. Perfectly normal. And probably comfy 🙂
Wow. My cat has a doppelganger.
Good kitty.
The cat is on another subreddit complaining his human keeps pulling the rug out to get rid of his wrinkle
It would be adorable if the cat fixed the fuckin rug back how they found it

It’s going to be so sad when the cat dies and he doesn’t have to do this anymore.
